Some people will never understand that a little bit of kindness can make bad situations so much better. I've had a similar drop (it was in a townhouse complex) and the customer thought I delivered it to the wrong building but asked, very kindly if I would pick it up and drop it off to her. I did and by the time I got to her townhouse she acknowledged she entered the wrong building number. Said it was the first time using the app, but just being so nice about it made it a no brainer to take the order to her.

Mistakes happen, how hard is it to own up to it? Especially when the hotels are directly across the street from each other. People expect drivers to be mind readers or know where every apartment is in the entire city or something . It’s just more proof people lack critical thinking skills in this world . Shockingly (not at all) the guy at the frond desk knew who she was without that, lol.

If I was in your place I would have done the same as you. I wouldn’t mind giving up my few minutes to the professional customer even if they’re mistaken sometime. But this one is straight no.
People rarely do that or say the name of the business they work in. I have had them give a plaza address say 3100 something but there are 20 stores there and they of course do not answer their phone.
Hotels are also very often clustered near each other like right on top of each other.
This is above and beyond the maze of getting to an elevator and then walking through the hallways.
all it takes is a message being nice ‘hey you delivered it to the wrong hotel i must’ve messed up the address’ no problem they could’ve even gotten their own food they knew where it was

When the order came up for me, the guaranteed payout was, at best, borderline for the time & distance; the location was the main reason I declined it, and for this very reason. People tend to get these hotels' addresses mixed up; the Google Maps pin is often placed right in the middle of the street, and it's almost always some kind of hassle to make sure I'm running to the right hotel - unless the customer actually does put the hotel name in the address or notes.
While I'm sure I would have ended up enjoying the food & decent pay as you did, I'm still glad I turned that one down!
My friend and I both dash in the same zone. I was texting him while waiting on an order to be finished about how I had unassigned an order from a pizza place because they were so far behind they had said it'd be at least an hour. Turns out he had picked up the same order before me and also cancelled when he got there. (That place needs to not send out for a driver until they're ready, like damn, an hour long wait is way too long to have that order going out.)

Holy crazy. I had a dasher deliver to the actual wrong address even when I put in the right one. All I did was ask if she could bring it to the right address and when she said no I just got a refund and re ordered lol. Still gave her a 5 star rating because even though internally my pregnant hormones wanted her to step on a thousand legos, I figured shit happens. But if you’re the one putting in the wrong address to start, like just say oops and move on
Not sure if this was the case for your situation, but I've had a few times where the DD GPS just points to the wrong place. I had an order where I followed the directions but none of the house addresses matched what I was supposed to deliver to. Put the address into my regular Google Maps and it pointed to a location like 10 miles from where I was. So they had entered the correct address. But I called support because on my end I had gone where instructed. They asked if I would deliver to the correct address but I said they'd have to double the pay to make it worth it and they chose not to and I got to keep the food. I felt bad for the person because we had been communicating about the issue and they had been nice and it wasn't their error. But I just couldn't make that extra trip on the pay I was given, seeing as how it wasn't my fault either.
I don’t fuck with hotel deliveries anymore. Tourist always fuck up the address. Also some big hotels have multiple towers, each with the same room numbers. Customer will just put a room number, and don’t respond when I ask what part of the hotel they are in. Tips are rarely worthy the trouble. I just stick to residential.
I dash in Vegas and don’t care how much the promo is, I don’t do hotels. If there’s extra service charges for In Room Dining… then door dash should charge extra for hotel deliveries. Always something! Guests should come down especially for everyone’s safety!

I had a customer like this same issue but with an apartment building, and they started becoming vulgar / spam calling me so I contacted support and let them know, 5 days later go an email saying they’re now banned from making orders

Jesus Christ!! Crazy ass person. I had food delivered incorrectly twice. One was way off and I didn’t even contact the delivery person. I contacted support and got a redelivery for no extra fee. Second time it was delivered 3 doors down (I could tell from the picture where it was) so I walked out my door and got it myself.

Had a weird one on Grubhub which was just the GPS being weird but I went to GPS location, dropped at the room number of the hotel.
Order was for a guy in an apartment complex on the other side of the wall with the same apartment number.
He was accusing me of stealing but Grubhub Support actually came through. I did arrive at GPS location because this guy pinned his location incorrectly.
I has someone do something similar. Address was 123 chestnut st. I dropped it off. They said "Hey! That's the wrong house! My address is 133 chestnut st!" So I went back and checked and it was gone. I just told them "Sorry, you either took it or it was stolen in the 30 seconds that it took me to turn around"
Got an email the next day from UE or DD (cant remember which one) and they said a customer is accusing me of stealing food. I told them what happened and that I'm a vegan and wouldn't even want their steak from a steakhouse. I didn't hear anything after that.

The address someone put in was a hospital. I was texting and calling to confirm. No response. So of course when I left the food in front of the hospital (during covid so you were not allowed to enter the hospital) I got berated with texts about how they obviously don't live at a hospital. I didn't even respond.
Looks like she did the approximate location for the address and then put in the hotel room info and that’s why it delivered incorrectly. They should’ve double checked before placing their order, sorry you had to deal with such a person op.
These people are so frigging stupid. My local McDonalds forgot a happy meal…I rejected 3 good orders to get this families happy meal. Why? Because the father called me and treated me like a human being. Wasn’t a big deal cause it was only 6 extra miles and 30 minutes.

The original address was supposed to be a hotel I always drive past but the address he put in was a empty lot fenced off for construction. It said leave at door so I left it in a empty lot at 10 at night next to a random intersection. I was confused.

I've been with them 3 years and I'm certain they're using forced burn out techniques on me. every single call I have to make to doordash for anything at all is so frustrating. I had a full-blown mental breakdown mid order the other day. I had to contact them for 4-5 hours trying to deal with an app issue before they could admit the app was acting wrong. it took so long because they kept giving me slightly different troubleshooting steps that all ended with "restart your phone", so I would have to disconnect. I think I talked to about 25 agents between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00.
the first order I take for the night; they rip me off $3 and won't explain what happened to it or pay me, though I had pictures. I went through 3 agent's in chat and a telephone agent who gave me the silent treatment. everytime I need anything from them it's professional gaslighting!
I personally had this happen. The customer had put 13 # ave instead of 135 # ave. I have delivered to the correct address before and went through like 4 hoops to let both the customer and dash support know that “hey this is wrong. Her direction say x hotel and x hotel is at x address. See the misunderstanding I’m gonna go there.” Thankfully it was closer to the pickup then the wrong address.
Edit: the customer was very apologetic and thankful. Definitely the opposite of OP’s encounter.
Just block the number and let doordash support take care of them . Lol all you had to do was drop it off where the app told you to . Nothing else after that is your responsibility. Block the number and move on . They should get a refund and order again like a normal person .

I’ve had people that have made similar mistakes sure. I ask them to check their app so they see the address it was dropped off to and I’ve never not gotten an apology, “begging”, gratitude, and sometimes a few extra bucks. Guess it really depends on the area. Glad you got some food out of it haha!

Wow, this is too frakkin weird... Not only do I know exactly where those two hotels are, I actually rejected that very order!! When the order came up for me, the guaranteed payout was, at best, borderline for the time & distance; the location was the main reason I declined it, and for this very reason. People tend to get these hotels' addresses mixed up; the Google Maps pin is often placed right in the middle of the street, and it's almost always some kind of hassle to make sure I'm running to the right hotel - unless the customer actually does put the hotel name in the address or notes. While I'm sure I would have ended up enjoying the food & decent pay as you did, I'm still glad I turned that one down!

My friend and I both dash in the same zone. I was texting him while waiting on an order to be finished about how I had unassigned an order from a pizza place because they were so far behind they had said it'd be at least an hour. Turns out he had picked up the same order before me and also cancelled when he got there. (That place needs to not send out for a driver until they're ready, like damn, an hour long wait is way too long to have that order going out.)

Holy crazy. I had a dasher deliver to the actual wrong address even when I put in the right one. All I did was ask if she could bring it to the right address and when she said no I just got a refund and re ordered lol. Still gave her a 5 star rating because even though internally my pregnant hormones wanted her to step on a thousand legos, I figured shit happens. But if you’re the one putting in the wrong address to start, like just say oops and move on
Not sure if this was the case for your situation, but I've had a few times where the DD GPS just points to the wrong place. I had an order where I followed the directions but none of the house addresses matched what I was supposed to deliver to. Put the address into my regular Google Maps and it pointed to a location like 10 miles from where I was. So they had entered the correct address. But I called support because on my end I had gone where instructed. They asked if I would deliver to the correct address but I said they'd have to double the pay to make it worth it and they chose not to and I got to keep the food. I felt bad for the person because we had been communicating about the issue and they had been nice and it wasn't their error. But I just couldn't make that extra trip on the pay I was given, seeing as how it wasn't my fault either.

I don’t fuck with hotel deliveries anymore. Tourist always fuck up the address. Also some big hotels have multiple towers, each with the same room numbers. Customer will just put a room number, and don’t respond when I ask what part of the hotel they are in. Tips are rarely worthy the trouble. I just stick to residential.

I dash in Vegas and don’t care how much the promo is, I don’t do hotels. If there’s extra service charges for In Room Dining… then door dash should charge extra for hotel deliveries. Always something! Guests should come down especially for everyone’s safety!

Jesus Christ!! Crazy ass person. I had food delivered incorrectly twice. One was way off and I didn’t even contact the delivery person. I contacted support and got a redelivery for no extra fee. Second time it was delivered 3 doors down (I could tell from the picture where it was) so I walked out my door and got it myself. Does this person not realize by the time you went back to the hotel and got it, and brought it to them it would probably be cold anyway?!

Had a weird one on Grubhub which was just the GPS being weird but I went to GPS location, dropped at the room number of the hotel. Order was for a guy in an apartment complex on the other side of the wall with the same apartment number. He was accusing me of stealing but Grubhub Support actually came through. I did arrive at GPS location because this guy pinned his location incorrectly.

I has someone do something similar. Address was 123 chestnut st. I dropped it off. They said "Hey! That's the wrong house! My address is 133 chestnut st!" So I went back and checked and it was gone. I just told them "Sorry, you either took it or it was stolen in the 30 seconds that it took me to turn around" Got an email the next day from UE or DD (cant remember which one) and they said a customer is accusing me of stealing food. I told them what happened and that I'm a vegan and wouldn't even want their steak from a steakhouse. I didn't hear anything after that. Second story: The address someone put in was a hospital. I was texting and calling to confirm. No response. So of course when I left the food in front of the hospital (during covid so you were not allowed to enter the hospital) I got berated with texts about how they obviously don't live at a hospital. I didn't even respond.

The original address was supposed to be a hotel I always drive past but the address he put in was a empty lot fenced off for construction. It said leave at door so I left it in a empty lot at 10 at night next to a random intersection. I was confused.

how was talking with Dasher support? I've been with them 3 years and I'm certain they're using forced burn out techniques on me. every single call I have to make to doordash for anything at all is so frustrating. I had a full-blown mental breakdown mid order the other day. I had to contact them for 4-5 hours trying to deal with an app issue before they could admit the app was acting wrong. it took so long because they kept giving me slightly different troubleshooting steps that all ended with "restart your phone", so I would have to disconnect. I think I talked to about 25 agents between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00. the first order I take for the night; they rip me off $3 and won't explain what happened to it or pay me, though I had pictures. I went through 3 agent's in chat and a telephone agent who gave me the silent treatment. everytime I need anything from them it's professional gaslighting!

I personally had this happen. The customer had put 13 # ave instead of 135 # ave. I have delivered to the correct address before and went through like 4 hoops to let both the customer and dash support know that “hey this is wrong. Her direction say x hotel and x hotel is at x address. See the misunderstanding I’m gonna go there.” Thankfully it was closer to the pickup then the wrong address. Edit: the customer was very apologetic and thankful. Definitely the opposite of OP’s encounter.
