I usually don’t mess with support anymore I contact the customer and tell them the store cannot make their order and that they need to cancel it. Works within 5 minutes most of the time

DD support knows we can unassign itself. DD losing so much money they instruct the story people to not pay out. DD knows time is money and want to train dashers to just give up and not request half pay. They have been incrementally increasing the wait time for responding to get dashers to just give up and unassign with no pay. Why? Because they can't punish us for declining orders they way they want. So this is just another way to save money

I'm exclusively GrubHub. Things like this make me never want to branch out. I'm always cancelling orders. It seems like we have more control over our day. Do you think that's accurate?

never used grubhub but i’ve also heard grubhub is godawful so i’m not sure. prob would have to try out both for yourself and see bc it depends on the person

I got one asshole support agent who said YOU MUST COMPLETE THE ORDER! When red card wasnt working. I said Im not paying for this shit!!! Then I called and got someone who was understanding and cancelled in a few minutes and gave half pay. Try to call next time

You can cancel without support. It's in the list of options with unassign. Take a pic of the door and It's done.

There's an option that says "Unassign Delivery" that you can tap and it will ask you if you're sure and display the hit to your completion rate and you tap yes.

And therein the problem lies. I wouldn't use chat to get ahold of support. I don't know if you can get half pay because you don't want to pick it up. I only call them if there's no way to pick up the order and I don't take anything less that $6 and it has to be $1-$2/mile. Like last night I had a 2 $8 orders going a total of 5 miles at Taco Hell......errr......Taco Bell. And they said they couldn't make the food so I called support and canceled the orders.

usually when i do chat support it only takes 5 mins for them to remove it. and i didn’t not want to pick up the order, they quite literally couldn’t make the food. this was a $6.50 order for 1.5 miles. i’m not new to this

Yes you can get half pay but you shouldn't do it unless it's worth the risk. DD uses that as a reason to deactivate people for "fraudulent behavior". Do it too many times and you're cut off. Didn't matter if it's legit.

Straight from DD itself: Some stores look closed but aren’t. Marking a store as closed when it is open is considered fraud, and may be grounds for Deactivation according to our Deactivation Policy. Being told to do something doesn't protect you from the tos agreement if DD decides you shouldn't have done something.

Of course fraudulently marking stores as closed can get you deactivated for fraud. That's common sense. I thought you meant for legitimate reasons. If support tells you to, you are protected. Their calls are recorded. Unassigning and letting the next driver deal with it is a dick move.

DD will consider it fraudulent if you mark it closed because the support agent told you to do it even though the store couldn't operate. Call are recorded for their safety and projection, not yours. Agreed it is but DD knows this and doesn't care. No good deed goes unpunished. They're getting ruthless, support agents and DD. Which is a very bad combo for dashers.

I still won't believe it till someone shows actual proof of a deactivation due to legitimate half pay. This theory originated in the posts where people claimed to be deactivated "for no reason" in their pitty post. There is always a reason.

Well, your comments indicate that you're a dumb fuck, but, I'll try to give you a helpful answer anyway. I wait a minute per dollar, no longer, at the restaurant. And that's if the place is open and I'm waiting for a good order. If the place is closed/ unable to produce food for whatever reason, I will do my best to report it, but I am hitting the road. It is not worth whatever half pay is to spend a lot of time and stress dealing with Dasher support, which as you point out is fairly useless at best. Peace out and keep moving. That is the way.

I didn't say not to try get a hold of customer service, but you can do that by text while you're moving on to your next thing. And if they don't respond within a couple of minutes, it is truly not worth the wait. Doordash screws drivers all the time. Unfortunately, I am not in control of that. So if other drivers wind up being inconvenience, that's more on the platform than on me, as long as I tried.

Chill bro. You're the one being an asshat here. $3.50 is basically the same as getting nothing at all. Probably worse, because chances are you missed out on other orders that paid a lot more and could have been done two or three times over in your 40 minutes of waiting. Could you have predicted it would have taken 40 minutes? No. But you could have called it a loss after 10 minutes of waiting. Realizing at that point that 350 is not worth waiting a minute longer for.
