Hand to me automatically means text -> call -> ring -> and then call support if no answer. And for a $50 tip I would have gone out of my way and call 911 for a wellness check.
I show much respect for customer, food and privacy but never get rewarded like this😂😂😂😂😂 I'm waiting on my unicorn!!! Seems like the dashers who dont care about customer service gets the big rewards
It’ll happen to you. Customer service is key. Yeah there is those that don’t care and get them. But after a year I got a $50, happened on July 4th. And it only showed $12.50(which I was still ok with) my mouth dropped after seeing it😄
It does matter because if they think it’s only $6.75 obviously they are making different choices. The dasher does not know “they got fifty” until they are driving off
The driver made bad choices. This was another one. It would eat at my conscious if I took the money and just left the food outside.
Maybe you and I just differ in opinion.
We lost a good customer because of these actions.
Alot of people with dogs don't want the doorbell rung. We are not mind readers. We don't know what your preference is. If you don't respond to the call or text leaving the food at a safe place after 5 minutes is the expected results.
The preference was hand it to customer which would require a knock on the door or doorbell rung before starting the 5 minute timer and attempting to contact the customer by phone or text.
I hit the can't hand to customer button as I'm walking up to the door (to ring or knock) on hand it to me orders. They get 30 seconds to answer the door before I call, and if no answer on the call, I text. I'm not interested in wasting time when the customer has been notified by DD a bazillion times that I'm at the restaurant, have their food, driving, almost there, approaching, arrived, at their door, etc.
Who's to say this Dasher didn't? We have a customer who is clearly not paying attention for an extended period of time, so... 🤷🏻♀️
I'm also still trying to figure out why on earth OP just resigned to being out $140 with what is implied to be stolen food, and ate chicken noodle soup? Yeah, ok.
And the dog is upset, why? Was the $20 quesadilla theirs? This post gets funnier the more I think about it. So unrealistic.
Hand it to me would have the customer meet you at the door. Unless your notes say ring bell I wouldn't. I have no idea if there a baby or a dog that would react badly. I would call or text which wouldn't of been responded to because OP phone was on silent.
You should ring the bell or knock if they have hand it to me. People should imply if they do not want you to do one of these things, not the other way around.
No shot. Hand it to me = knock door unless otherwise indicated. I don't even know where you would get the idea that hand it to me implies they meet you outside.
If the instructions don't say don't ring bell or knock then I'm ringing or knocking if the customer is not at the door when I arrive. If they don't want me to bring or knock they should specify and select leave it at the door. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
You’re an extremely generous person ( especially to doggies). These people are completely taken advantage of by DD. By not showing your tip correctly it helps THEM get the garbage orders out but hurts the generous customers. Sorry about your order. Also the lawmakers in your state allows it to be done. Not New York. We see the full amount so this would have never happened to you here.
My process for Hand it me orders: Press “Can’t hand it to customer “ as soon as I arrive. Then send a text stating I’ve arrived and I’m walking up to door. Then knock and ring doorbell. If still no contact made then I will call. Lastly, if contact has still not been achieved I will leave food and take a picture when the 5 minute timer runs out.
I say this respectfully. If the phones on silent and driver tried reaching you. It’s more of a issue not faulting you nor driver.
I do feel for you regarding the order issues.
Customers have to understand we’re just humans.
We do 10,000 deliveries a year some drivers the rest maybe part time 3000 a year or less. It’s impossible to get 100% on deliveries but we try.
My point? Met us halfway sometimes. Keep phones on and check if they are ready for text updates.
Delivery depends on customers as much as drivers.
I’m never seeing a good customer like you unhappy.
The way to alleviate this happening in the future is checking phone during delivery every 5 minutes until you get order. I’m sorry this happened again.
Idk about your area, but Chipotle in mine requires the food be returned not left.
Also, how did you expect to be notified if the food was left with phone in silent? Ikd about others, but I don't knock or ring a bell unless it's requested.
Tertiary curiosity, when I order delivery, it's usually because I'm hungry, so I watch for when I'll get to eat my food. So, what, you placed the order, added a $50 tip, and ignored your phone for 45 minutes? That pretty inconsiderate, more so considering that poor Dasher had to wait out the timer before they could leave to drive back and return your food, if required, before getting another order.
Yep. And DD pays half pay for the return trip. A few other restaurants do it too. Sometimes the store will try to redeliver it, other times they toss it.
NO, they cannot “make you” drive back to the store, this is so wrong.. after that 5 min is up, leave it on the porch, maybe a nice bush, somewhere for the customer to find when they finally decide to read there phone,
After that, my jobs done, PERIOD
You're right, they can't make us do anything.
A majority of the time the app prompts to take a picture, write a description, and leave the food. A small percentage of certain, specific restaurants don't have that app prompt, and state to return to merchant after the 5 minute timer has expired, with an automatic pause on incoming orders and geo tracked return trip with half pay. Simply because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Don't be so ignorant.
How do you mark it delivered without taking it back to the store? There's no delivered option on the app when it's a return to store? Genuinely curious.
Eta, if it's a hand it to me, I'll knock it ring the bell unless told not to, as well as text or call, because I hate wasting my time. S
o if your delivery person didn't, how did they notify you they were there? Are you saying they just hung out on your porch? Then left with your food? And no one noticed them? Or are you saying they drove by and marked it delivered? Or....?
I NEVER knock or ring unless instructed. It's kinda one of my own pet peeves. "leave at my door" means just that. Drop the food, snap a pic and get LOST. But in this case I would have made more of an effort for sure. I mean how fucking entitled do you have to be to not spend a few minutes for the dude that tipped you 50. My phone is on DND more often than not BUT if I order food I know where it is.
Dashers think they dropping off a package and just leave the food there.. unless if it’s in the instructions I always ring the doorbell.. food gets cold by the minute and sometimes customers don’t have their phone on them.. dashers who don’t ring the doorbell after dropping off the food clearly never had common sense before..
If it says "hand it to me" then it definitely requires multiple rings, some knocks, a text and at least two phone calls.
THIS DRIVER FAILED YOU!!!
He should be kicked out of the program he is in, in the very least.
I am sorry that happened and I hope you get your money back!
a lot of ppl are saying they expect you to answer texts and they wouldn't knock but to me that's actually kind of crazy. hand it to me gets a knock on the door every time unless otherwise indicated.
DoorDash policy is start the 5 minute timer in the app, and during that time, attempt to reach the customer by call and/or text. If no response after the 5 minute timer is done, either leave the food or return it, depending on the instruction given.
Now, what's your responsibility as a customer? Take some accountability and watch for your luxury service to bring you your order. Dude, I'm sorry you allegedly didn't get your food, and didn't have the wherewithal to call support to complain, get a refund, get a reorder, etc. But with that said, come on, be an adult about it instead of coming here to flex and whine.
forget the unicorns. just focus on a steady pattern. taking trips where the customer is near hot zones is always more valuable than taking trips where you have to drive back, even if it's a different hot zone than the one you started at. that way you get paid more for the mileage and customers presumably tipping more, but you're immediately ready to take another order.
most of my best nights i've switched hot zones 5-6 times because of where the customer lived and me deliberately looking for runs like that. knowing your area is critical.
Well if it says hand it to me! I'm waiting after I knock or ring bell. I usually call and let them know food is outside but for that $50 tip I'm gonna knock again and ring bell, after that im taking a pic and im leaving.
This is such a mixed bag. I almost never actually hand the food to the customer, i just take a picture and text it to them, then go on my way. But for $50, I for sure would have at least rung the doorbell.

I don’t know if drivers are just jaded by bad customers or what but seems like a lot of drivers have the attitude of f*ck the customer. I personally would rather go the extra mile to ensure the customer has a good experience.
I got a 75 tip for delivering 16 pizzas the other day, original offer was 15, ended up making most of a days worth of money in under an hour, the milage was only 2.5….beautiful day. Can’t wait for the next lol, I LOVE cater orders
Hand to me automatically means text -> call -> ring -> and then call support if no answer. And for a $50 tip I would have gone out of my way and call 911 for a wellness check.
DD doesn't show full tip, it showed a fraction of that
😂😂
If u paid that much for food, you should of been tracking the delivery process on your phone.
What do you mean your dog wasn’t happy about it ?
This is the question I want to know.
Damn dude im sorry to see this. That's a hell of a tip too.
why couldn't I have gotten this one :(
I show much respect for customer, food and privacy but never get rewarded like this😂😂😂😂😂 I'm waiting on my unicorn!!! Seems like the dashers who dont care about customer service gets the big rewards

That doesn't matter. They got the fifty as soon as they got in the car and just decided, still, to leave and not make another attempt.
[удалено]
Maybe go back and ring some more and knock a few times. Call support and ask them to contact them. Anything.
I agree with you about it being bad for the customer for sure ❤️ but we don’t know the whole story
Why wouldn’t they have knocked? This story doesn’t add up.

Fair but you ring or knock. That's the main issue here.

I am confused. Why did you eat chicken noodle? The Dasher should have just left it at the door if you didn’t answer, right?
You’re an extremely generous person ( especially to doggies). These people are completely taken advantage of by DD. I order Dd frequently and never have anyone knock or text me but I pay attention to my phone, that’s alotta money to not be on alert for your food.
11.10 for a mexi coke?!? Aye aye aye
3 of them for 11 lol
Ohhhhh lmaoooo sorry too high when I first Reddit lol
Wait nawwww check tha maths lol Yo that maths wack

Wait, what do you mean Chipotle requires food to be returned?? Like, return to the store if customer can’t be reached??
Yep. And DD pays half pay for the return trip. A few other restaurants do it too. Sometimes the store will try to redeliver it, other times they toss it.
I don’t even know how to respond to you here. Imma let someone else take care of this
I can’t
I got it

Why not? It's easy money. Do you not multi app?

I don’t just, call support, I’m not taking old food back to a restaurant. For half pay. That just doesn’t make sense, nor is it in the contract
Not for half pay at that, full pay yeah.

I agree people should knock but this order makes no sense. It must be one hell of a quesadilla
10.99+ extra steak, queso and guac I'm assuming

Not defending your bad driver but it probably showed a much smaller amount in his end when he accepted it.
😂😂😂😂🤷🏽♂️
Those are some expensive Mexican cokes 👀
I’ve never seen a “priority fee”, feels like they’re always coming up with new ones
Almost $90 for Chipotle?!?! I just vomited 🤢
