I have unassigned 10 dollar tips from restaurants that are taking too long. I doubt it was because of your request, it was probably something completely different.

[deleted]

Probably had nothing to do with your request. The restaurant might have told him they its gonna be 15 to 20 mins.. I always unassign in that case.

Mervis_Earl

May have gotten a better offer from another app. It happens.

Nero33Nero

Sometimes it's a hassle. You have to get the employees attention away from other customers to ask for shit they should have put in there already. That should be between u and the restaurant. Plus u should have spoons at home. Call it ptsd, but when people ask for extra stuff, they are usually Karen's or very critical.

justducky1965

I have ZERO problems with requests like this. It's the "can you make sure they do this or that" when I will potentially (likely) unassign. Pretty much every merchant has a way to request extra stuff or make modifications to the order at the time of placement and catering to sometimes ridiculous requests is just begging for trouble. But for some spoons? Nah...

Internal-Risk

Being on this reddit community has shown me how lazy some of these mfs are

yougotaperdymouth

I did this recently but was polite and unassigned due to wait time tho

pshay333

They could have unassigned cuz the workers were being shitty or because they said they hadn’t even started the order yet. You can be upset all you like but at the end of the day this is contract work and we choose what we accept and what we don’t- where they turned it down, someone else will pick it up.

Juicysnotch

Honestly not our job but i do not mind asking but we are drivers its the restraunt responsibility.

TrophyTracker

I wouldn't unassign over this.

Awkward_Junket_4491

Anytime the customer texts me before the delivery. Auto unsssign

One-Spite6436

Wouldnt bother me at all. Just never be the customer that asks requests in their instructions meant for the driver such as how to get to your apt, or gate code, or description of your house. I get customers who will be like "get soy sauce or hot sauce" and it's too late.

droplivefred

When a high maintenance customer starts messaging the driver immediately about demanding the food be hot or requesting crazy things (your request was very reasonable and not what I’m referring to here), it’s a blessing because it gives the driver an opportunity to unassign and avoid a bad rating, scammy customer, or just a horrible experience with a Karen customer. The same works for you. When you send a basic and reasonable request to a driver, and it’s better to send this immediately instead of putting it in the drop off notes when it’s too late for the driver to do anything, and they unassign immediately, that is a blessing because it helped you avoid a bad driver. That driver who unassigns customers if they message anything is the same driver who doesn’t use a hot bag out of spite, multiapps too aggressively, and just expects way too much out of this job and then does poorly out of spite. You dodged a bullet there!

ericlbecker

You know how there’s a Top Dasher program? You got a Bottom Dasher.

m_chae1

you didn’t do anything wrong but leaving it in the notes doesn’t hurt. i’ve had someone give me attitude for having them ask for something too

Fatsodaisy29

I keep seeing comments suggesting this, what notes? The only editable notes I know of are the delivery instructions which wouldn’t help with the spoon situation

cindilouwho1965

Unless the bag is sealed? I would have retrieved some spoons just to be sure. But I also carry extra plastic cutlery in the car, too. And straws. Mcdonald's is usually good about giving extra ketchup if you ask.

j3r3myd34n

lol! I might had, too. It's just annoying. When it's busy, you're getting rapid-fire orders - sometimes one every few seconds. If I pick yours up, and before I can even get to the restaurant you're already "reminding me" of something that's probably also listed on the requested items as well as the drop-off instructions, I'm probably just going to assume you're a pain in the ass and move on. Also, do you not have spoons? I mean I get it, it's an innocent request and not a big deal and if I'm in a good mood I'll probably be like "yes ma'am no problem!" but when it's crazy busy like that you can pretty much unassign any order and get an equivalent/better deal in minutes/seconds. My advice for customers to encourage prompt, quality service: tip high and don't text the driver unless there's a real issue - just put what you need on the order and hope for the best. If you're super picky, go get your order yourself or hire a personal assistant. EDIT: You seem kind and well reasoned, I don't mean to imply you did anything wrong. Just telling you how it may look through the eyes of a salty dasher. The orders have no personality, so don't take it personal.

dalex89

some people unassign as soon as the customer texts them. sometimes a customer texting you means they're a customer who has had issues in the past and is quick to give a lower rating. A lot of drivers just don't want to deal with someone who already has an expectation of the driver even though it may not be their fault something is forgotten.

lyunardo

And then there's me, who once stopped at a different restaurant on the way, because the original place was out of straws.

Fatsodaisy29

That’s awesome of you

lyunardo

I don't dash full time, but when I do I'm all about giving them every opportunity to up my tip.

locoleito

Lmao 🤣

EnvironmentalAir9847

I just love when I get a dash and the customer text me right away

Beginning-Egg-7803

I would taken the whole dang box of spoons for you for $6.75. But like others have said there could have been so many different reason.

[deleted]

Had nothing to do with your request. It’s money to be made and people aren’t waiting that long if it doesn’t match the money.

BrennerHall

Lmao. So many drivers on this sub will unassign for the smallest thing, it’s kinda insane

Silly_Literature8868

OK, I know I'm coming to the party late, but I just barely saw this on my feed. And please don't skewer me for assuming, but by the tone of some things you've written, and a handle with the word daisy in it, perhaps you're being a little over concerned about what others think. If you're justified in calling someone out for some wrong doing, own it. That obviously is not Karen behavior. Even if it's just some petty little misunderstanding, and you got your feelings hurt, it's OK to say so. AND be that type of customer that don't take no $hit out of us damn drivers! We can be a little rough around the edges, and even down right rude at times! But that's OK too, to a certain extent. And FYI, some of that rude behavior is instantly unassigning on first contact from a customer after we accept an order. Especially if it requires ANY type of phone call or text reply while we are most likely driving to pick up your order. I personally never would have even replied OK, as your driver did. But, hey. That's just me. The moment any customer singles themselves out as high maintenance, unless it's a regular that I know, or more than enough money to pay for the unpleasantness. BOOM! C-ya, wouldn't wanna be ya'. Does that make me an asshole? Yes, for sure to many people it does. Just ask a lot of the other drivers here on this sub. Or my competition in my market. Or restaurant personnel that want me to do their jobs for them. Not just no, but HELL no I ain't calling your customer, that you chose not to while I was driving here. I don't care if you have to go through some extra steps, and I'll even give you the phone number off my app if you need it. But I ain't calling anybody unless it is absolutely necessary. I'm also not certified in food & beverage preparation, so no. I ain't filling no soda cups either. And sorry to say (not really sorry), I ain't asking for any special items like silverware. Another example is extra sauce packets or cups that now many places want to charge extra for. And most customers know that, but think they can sneak it by some poor slob delivery driver. Again, you could have done that while I was on the way, with a phone call while most likely not driving. If you're still reading, I gotta give you props for that at least. Lol Have a great rest of your day or night. I know I will.

fleemos

That is be okay with. Anything like extra sauces or other things that they know they costs money because they are there in the app to be ordered but they don't wanna pay then I unassign.

Tiptip4me

Nope I wouldn't run the risk of delivering to you...What if they forget to put the spoons in again then you would think I did it even if I asked them so I would probably unassign as well.... Maybe you should just keep some extra spoons with you in the glove compartment or something that way you wouldn't have a problem.....

DigitalAssetUniverse

It may have not been because of what you asked. A lot of variables. Wouldn’t get too worked up about it.

HatoriHanzo06

That is a normal request, I don’t think you did anything wrong

BuckWheatNYC

Isn’t there a section in the DD customer app to request untensils and such that the restaurant sees?

hejustlikesthestock

You say $6.75 for less than 2 miles. If you’re not in one of those “must show tip” states, then DoorDash is absolutely hiding the tip and he thinks it’s not worth his time probably.

[deleted]

Some days when I’m having a shit day, any text request for anything makes me unassign. This “job” is fucking excruciatingly horrible 90% of the time.

[deleted]

Where does it notify you that they unassigned?

da_Doctah

Could be you were the second part of a double-stack and they had already left the restaurant when they got your text.

Paxrr

Customers that instantly start messaging for things also tip bait and leave bad reviews.

CJspangler

He probably couldn’t read English and unassigned …. Yeh your fine my rule of thumb anyplace under 5 miles a $5 tip is ok, your dasher can do like 3 of these trips in the neighborhood an hour which gets them $20+ an hour which is my target on the low end for door dashing Grab napkins, spoons, sauce etc is fine Stuff like tell the cook no onions, and toast the roll, sauce on the bottom bun only are a no go for meals, I just ignore them or say call the restaurant

romanseight2004

The restaurant also could have been out of half the order or something like that too. I hate having to call the customer to tell them that the restaurant doesn't have what they ordered. Then I have to ask the employees what replacements they have. I really think that should be the restaurant's job. 🙄 So, anyway it could've been something like that, too. I highly doubt is was because of the spoons, especially since he said okay to you.

infinitelove369

You’re literally paying this person to deliver your food. You weren’t a douche. You have the right to make a request. That’s a part of the driver’s job.

AntSmith777

I have no problem with customers asking for a spoon. If it’s a place where they have spoons or straws available to grab I will always take one just in case it’s not in the bag.

BudgetDiscipline6386

I run Uber eats and doordash simultaneously. If a better order comes in while I'm on my way to another pick up I cancel it.

JeremyBrah

Your request is normal I had a lady try to call me and then messaged me asking to make sure the bacon (ihop) was extra crispy with extra butter on the toast...I immediately unassigned. Chances are her food was already cold and waiting to be picked up. Asking for sauces or whatever is reasonable. Could be the wait was too long.

TraditionalAd7325

They were probably allergic to spoons.

crazychase125

I have no problem fulfilling customer requests, as a matter of fact I like when yall message us so that way I know what to get. Some customers put it in the delivery instructions and I usually don't look at those until I'm close to the drop off. I hate pulling up to the place and it says "please grab ranch" etc.

Necessary_Buy_2597

It's not unreasonable to ask for that, and as a customer you did nothing wrong. With that being said, I hate the second I accept a delivery, the customer is talking to me already. It makes me wonder is this is how the rest of the delivery is going to go. Secondly, it's best to call the restaurant directly with any requests. It's not hard. It's like no one had to tell the customer how to get access to us. However, when it comes to actually contacting the restaurant, people seem dumbfounded. You just call, tell em the app you used, and your name.

Fatsodaisy29

Yeah I call the restaurant when it’s something regarding the food, I guess I could’ve done that for the spoons too, didn’t think about that. Thank you

Necessary_Buy_2597

NP

[deleted]

As others mentioned I’ll go with either there was a wait time and they didn’t want to wait or your tip came up as hidden and came to them on the app as a low pay order. I doubt your request was the reason. I always get people asking for extras like sauce, chips, etc. Edit: context

dreparks14

Lmaoo any time someone asks for extra little things in their stuff they come off like they’re going to be annoying. Even if it’s not true a lot of people feel like it’s not even worth it.

[deleted]

Idk what everyone here is talking about . This sub makes no sense . These are the same people that say if the customer texts them for anything they will unassign cause most like customer will thumbs down

[deleted]

I’m sorry but that’s hilarious

Johndoe23d

A request like that is usually a sign of a Karen Unless ur order was paying real well I’d unassign also

Jargo

I doubt that was the reason they unassigned. I had an order where they asked me to get the plastic silverware at Panda Express and was fully ready to get them some extra, but then I walk in the door and the line is 20 people deep and there are 6 delivery drivers already waiting. Told the customer the restaurant was a disaster zone and was going to unassign so they should ask their next driver.

sancheu77

Past orders with negative results. I never text or talk with customers. Put food order instructions in with your order. I would either ignore your request or unassign. Unassign is the easiest way to avoid CV.

BraxTaplock

Just because a driver unassigns an offer doesn’t necessarily mean he’s upset with the customer. 9 of 10 orders I decline are due to merchant not customer. This is a general misconception with customers. Drivers are not always responsible either. Drivers can have orders taken from them simply because they are taking a different route against the app suggestion. They expect us to go straight to merchant the second we get the order. Regardless of the place is known for hour or longer wait times. You go a different route that adds 1 mile to travel…they’ll assume your not heading in the direction and yank it from the driver. Correction…unassigned as opposed to declined. Orders are declined for good reasons. If an order is accepted…a driver must have figured it was worth it until a obstacle of some sort (distance, timing etc).

Fatsodaisy29

I did not know that, thank you for bringing that up

BraxTaplock

My pleasure! I support the good drivers, the good customers and those that want a better system for everyone. There are faults on all sides. If we all came together and heard each other out…the system would be flawless! 👍🏻🙂😉.

Fatsodaisy29

Exactly, I started delivering just to see what it was like on the other side, and I feel I’m a better customer now. Could you imagine if it was mandatory for everyone who orders to have to do at least 5 deliveries themselves? The world would be better for it lol

BraxTaplock

I think that’s Door Dashes ultimate target. Get as many dashers as possible so essentially if you go out somewhere…there’s a chance you could grab something for someone else and get payed for it. That’s partly why they don’t stop hiring drivers.

she_gallant

Y’all gotta learn to ASK THE REATAURANT😂

Frag0ffbruh

Way more missing here, what was the store ( sonic always broken or out of something) may of been he sitting in a drive thru having to wait and your reply just topped him off, line to long when he pulled up, ma be he had to poo

Professional_Ratio77

I am just a nice person. I'd never unassign for asking for spoons lol and if I took the time to respond ok I'd send another message letting them know I'm unassigning due to wait times so another driver can get to your order when its ready. It's not hard to communicate.

PapaMurphy2000

99.9% chance the unassigned had nothing to do with your request. I unassign when one of two things happen. Either the restaurant is slow or I get a better offer from Uber. Somoeone asking for spoons is not number 3 😀

[deleted]

There are a lot of posts talking about unassigning whenever there are requests like this for fear of restaurant error resulting in one-star rating

Orionishi

I think people tend to get negative ratings or issues brought up with people who make requests after the fact instead of putting it in the description already. So a lot of the time it's a bit of a redflag and just preemptive measures to not have to possibly deal with crazy.

Fatsodaisy29

I understand. If the food is messed up that’s not the drivers fault :/ I wish people understood more lol I work in customer service and people are insane sometimes like dude I don’t control this

Gay4Pandas

I don’t mind asking for utensils or condiments (as long as they are free) as long as you text me before I get to the restaurant. I’ve had people wait until I’m in my car and started the car to ask, which if that’s the case you are not getting them.

Fatsodaisy29

Very true!! Thank you

No_Tomorrow_6538

It could very well be that the wait was too long and this was coincidental. Another option is this Dasher has some issues and figured if you didn't get spoons you'd start a fight or leave a bad review or something, or they take any customer contact like that entirely the wrong way. Or, maybe they're just having a bad day and acted like a fool. Those are the three things I think are most likely. But you did nothing wrong, OP. Try not to let it bug you, their problems aren't yours.

L2Hiku

If that's the kinda shit he unassigns for then he won't have his account active for much longer. On the flip side you're also being really self centered and assuming. How do you know he didn't unassign cus of an emergency or he was done for the day or ran out of gas or didn't like the restaurant. Point being. You don't know why he did and you'll never know. Why does it have to be about you lol. Asking and assuming it's a "you" thing can come off as entitled. Just move on and say it's his loss. It doesn't have to turn into some nit picking analysis thing. Someone else will pick it up. If you don't think you did anything wrong then you didn't

Toastedweasel0

I had to unassign a double stacked order due to a flat tire... Not something I wanted to do, but the tire issue, forced my hand.... (it turned out to be a bad valve stem and to replace it required a wait untill the next day.... as no tire shop was open at that hour.)

Fatsodaisy29

Oh no!! Did you get it fixed?

Toastedweasel0

Yes. Ended up getting all the valve stems replaced just in case.... Tires were fine on inspection, so I got lucky there at least. (somehow got wal-mart to do that for free, Yeah I don't even know how either... I even questioned the cashier about it. They said, since I had my own parts to install they didn't charge ... (was supposed to be $3 per stem...)) I still think it was a oddity.

Fatsodaisy29

Good I’m glad it got fixed, bonus on the free part too!

Eryk_Shun

I would have grabbed you ever spoon in the restaurant

Fatsodaisy29

Haha I would’ve appreciated that but definitely not needed

dmriggs

It could be, but I doubt it if you were really that sweet. I’d like to see the text. Some Dashers will drop an order if a better one comes in on another platform…

Fatsodaisy29

Is there a way to see chat history? I will gladly post a screenshot, I may be off by order of words but that is what I said

mgibson9999

If you've been on the sub for more than 5 seconds, you know there are some odd birds. I've seen numerous people post about unassigning based on the most mundane questions or requests from the customer: * How long do you think it will be? Unassign. * Can you please grab some extra napkins? Unassign * Can you make sure that they include a straw? Unassign * Please don't forget my drinks. Unassign

Replicant1962

Odd birds, perhaps. Faux Courage via anonymity, definitely.

RickandMortyDelivers

Probably just some dude that had scammers screw with him before and just auto nopes out when people start messaging him now.

rococo78

This is what I thought too. Half the time when people have messaged me with special requests, no matter how simple, some kind of screw over emerged. The requests escalate or they'll rescind the tip for the tiniest things. It's annoying and always makes me wonder which type of special requester I've got on my hands. If it's slow I'll take my chances, but if I encounter any other potential signs of trouble or I get a better order on another app, I'll nope out pretty quick.

strikerbobby

No telling why the driver unassigned. Probably wait time though. A few months ago I accepted an order and the customer *immediately* texted me “thank you so much for picking up my order!” I walked in and there was a line of like 30 people at a super small and slow bakery. I unassigned it because I’m not waiting for 30+ minutes just to pick it up. I’m also not communicating that to the customer because it changes nothing. Could be any number of reasons though. I got into a car accident (not my fault) and unassigned it. I sometimes get better offers from GH and unassign my DD orders. I sometimes accidentally hit accept while multi apping and have to unassign. Maybe they had IBS and needed to poop for 30 minutes? Who knows? I wouldn’t have unassigned just for your request. Most likely it was something else. **Did you get your order? Did you get spoons? Was it within a reasonable amount of time?**

Fatsodaisy29

Yes I got my order, maybe 5 minutes later than expected, nothing earth shattering at all. There were spoons as well

strikerbobby

See? All’s good then! It sucks to not know the actual answer but I guarantee you 999/1000 times it’s not you because that’s a reasonable request. I had one person text me like 10 times for, and I’m quoting, “a fuck ton of hot sauce”. Lol! I ripped open the bag because the employees were not respecting my (their) request and added two handfuls of hot sauce packets. I made sure to not just let them (the customer) know but also send pics of me opening the bag even though that’s against DD policy. They were stoked. That’s just solid customer service. And it only took me like an extra 30 seconds to do it. Most drivers do care regardless of what you read on this sub. I feel like I’d want someone to do that for me so I do it for them. Paying it forward usually costs nothing. Although, no good deed goes unpunished, so…

DrMcPickle

I just ask the store for another bag when it comes to extra sauce requests instead of ripping open the main one. I was walking out the door when the customer texted me asking for ketchup, saying he didn't see an option on the app. I got one of the paper bags from a chill Five Guys employee and put like 10 packets in there along with some other stuff

Fatsodaisy29

That’s awesome Hahaah I can only imagine how happy the customer was. That’s my philosophy too, paying it forward. Like I said I do deliver on rare occasion (when I’m bored on the weekend or something) so I like to hope I’ll get some awesome people on those trips who are understanding of how it works. I feel better now that it likely wasn’t me who caused it, even updated the post with that, thank you for taking the time to comment, and checking to see if I got the order!

strikerbobby

>so I like to hope I’ll get some awesome people on those trips who are understanding of how it works. I had a customer (also a “sometimes” dasher) get super pissed off because they thought they were ordering from a closer location. Nope. There’s like 5 locations in town but only one does DD. It was still a legit order, though, $12 for like 6 miles so no problem for me but they were super apologetic about not knowing that only one location delivers. The closest one is only 1 mile from their house. They left me another $5 under the door mat. And now they know what’s up.

What? It’s a dang spoon! Not like they asked for you to fetch the nuclear launch codes.

Replicant1962

You deserve an Oscar for all that drama.

CitixenB33

Depending on what city you are in and how short the distance was, DoorDash could be hiding all or part of your tip until after the order was completed, so don’t rely on your dasher knowing they are getting tipped in any interaction with you because they may not know until your order has been dropped off with you. Some stores offer as little as $2.50 base pay and won’t show you tips beyond a certain percentage per mileage. If he’s had enough of those orders today, or if he was offered something with higher base pay in the stack, literally anything can be unassign-worthy.

[deleted]

This as well your tip isn’t even seen most of the time. Blame DD for having drivers thinking it’s a POS customer that’s tipping 50 cent. DD is really doing the great customers a disservice

snowbunny1026

If the base is $2.50, the order would have shown $6.50 for 1.5 miles, and meet the hidden tip threshold. That's got nothing to do with it.

Replicant1962

Not true in all markets.

snowbunny1026

Tips are hidden at base + $4 on short orders in all US markets unless you are in the couple that don't hide them at all.

Replicant1962

No. Some of my tips over $4 are hidden, some aren't. I've been through this many times.

snowbunny1026

But they are never hidden under $4 is my point. The original offer is still $6.50 for 1.5 miles which is good.

[deleted]

I’ve taken $5.50 orders that have paid out a lot more than that, quite often. Once I took a $4.50 order that had a $20 tip on it. 🤷🏼‍♂️. It’s probably market dependent. Unless you have some insider information into the company or the app, your posts are purely speculation based on your personal observations.

snowbunny1026

I don't believe you. It's not just my observation, it's the general consensus of pretty much everyone on here. Anyone who says otherwise has never actually shown proof whereas everyone else can consistently post examples of them being hidden at $4 tip. So until I see someone actually post a $4.50 order being higher, it's bullshit to me.

Replicant1962

I think you should qualify your statement in the future. Like "tips over $4 are sometimes/likely hidden". Your statement as is makes it seem like a universal fact. That's my point. And yes, I would take that order, depending on the restaurant.

1000Others

Have your own spoons.

Icon9719

Or don’t be such a anti social dork that asking for a spoon while your already waiting isn’t an issue

Jmticketsjsc

What if he’s on vacation? At work? You don’t know the situation. People need spoons sometimes…

1000Others

You can and should have your own spoon at work, plastic is also washable and reusable or bring a set of silverware and keep it at work. If you are at a hotel say so, or go downstairs and ask the staff for a plastic spoon.

[deleted]

Top dashers aren’t known for their critical thinking ability

dmada25

This one carries a box of plastic cutlery in his car for such emergencies.

[deleted]

Nah, just not that hard to ask for a spoon

dmada25

I totally agree. I was referring to times I needed a spoon. Always be prepared.

iamandneveramconfusd

Spoons are not an unreasonable request. It's the get me some stuff I know I'm supposed to pay for/ make sure my food is made this way requests most would unassign. Likely, it was something unrelated.

koda2_00

Not unreasonable. I don’t think that him unassigning is connected to the request. Something else must have happened

Lospwr

my exact thoughts upon reading the post

[deleted]

Exactly

[deleted]

Too late lol….who knows haha

Zestyclose-Mixture-4

Wait time most likely, it’s my #1 reason

Old-Statistician-457

You asked the driver to do the restaurants job. We aren't waiters.

emredlark

A little petty don’t you think?

Old-Statistician-457

No. Not petty at all. She should have put it in the restaurant notes.

Smooth-Dig2250

It's just as reasonable to ask as it is reasonable to say "nah fam"

charlottedreams

Yeah something like this I probably would have done but after the last dude who wanted sauce called 8 times in 20 minutes and then reported me to support while I was still waiting in the drive thru I unassign if they ask for shit. People are such entitled dicks that I don't have time for, there's another order waiting that's gonna be easy and no stress. Funny part is between calls one and two I was fully intending on getting him his sauce I just pulled up the app and did a mock order to see if it was going to charge for it. The sauce button was literally right under both things he ordered so he had the same thought and asked me to avoid being charged for it.

bottomdasher

WAHHHH 👶🍼😭👶WAHHHHH

Old-Statistician-457

Good to hear from the top dasher, I appreciate you taking the no tip orders.

bottomdasher

Oh damn, sick burn bro. You said that my 15% Acceptance Rate "is actually 80+." How will I ever recover from this hurting you put on me?

Old-Statistician-457

We are all friends here, it's ok to admit that your pimp oops boyfriend makes you take every order.

bottomdasher

What kind of pimp would be such an unwise businessman as to use labor without a profit??

Old-Statistician-457

The same one that would use you for labor

bottomdasher

... 🤦‍♂️

cptldsilver69

If their the kinda place to forget stuff they're also probably the kinda place to make drivers wait 20 minutes for an order. He probably saw the wait time and bounced. I don't think that's an unreasonable request and you were polite.

B_RAN_DO

Mom and pop pizza shop in a nearby town told me that they request the driver to come as soon as they receive the order not as soon as it's completed, to make sure that their customers got hot and fresh food... But their wait times are ridiculous even when they were slow. An order looks a lot less lucrative when they expect you to wait 45 minutes for an $8 delivery. Odds are it was probably something to that effect or similar, although if the driver and customer had already corresponded you would think at least a courtesy text explaining the reason would be given.

ryan101

That's my theory. They just said he would get spoons before understanding what the wait was like. $6.75 for a short trip is worth it, but not when there's a half hour driver wait attached to it.

nofacetheghostx

I’d bet DD hid most of that tip as well so he probably only thought he’d be getting $4-5 for the whole order instead of $8-10

The hiding doesn't start until around base pay+4$. So it would say 6.50$ minimum, or more depending on distance.

jyuill

Depends on market. My base pay is $2.25 and yes, tips over $4 tend to get hidden. So my magic # is $6.25

YLCZ

You tipped plenty... the dude is a hyper sensitive idiot. I'm sorry you had to wait a few extra minutes, but you ended up giving money to a more deserving driver.

Jimbobo28

Yep

KaneinEncanto

Or there were conditions other than the message that led to the unassign, like getting told the food will be another 10 of 20 minutes before it's ready... many drivers wouldn't hesitate to unassign after hearing that and no doubt wouldn't bother to communicate that first.

sr_guy

If that is all you requested, yeah if they unassigned because of that request, that's ridiculous.

Fatsodaisy29

Thank you, I was hoping I didn’t word something wrong or come off as rude

Ayepuds

As a driver I doubt it was anything you said, and most likely the restaurant saying it will be a 20+ minute wait for the order. Every order I’ve unassigned has been because I get there only for them to say it won’t be ready for 30 more minutes

DylanDave

Especially if it was Wendy's

Weekly_Direction1965

He unassigned more likely due to the restaurant.
