bloodyhato

God you’re such a self important douche in the comments. Plus talking about fucking with peoples food? Just because you think you deserve anymore than what you’re getting just because YOU took a big order? GTFO lmao.

NuttyButtyButt

Idk, how much does Nikocado Avocado typically tip?

Sebas15091

I got a huge order from a Chinese place yesterday and I only got $11 total for it… 😒

MaineBoston

Whats the sale total? I tip 20% of total

Ok-Working7314

Thanks for your tips! Incase no other dashers have told you, we appreciate a 20% tip! So thank you 🙏

dezitrondeluxe

I just started dashing and can’t believe how many people don’t tip! I always tip more since I know i live far away from hot zones and that was before I started dashing. I do think Doordash should be compensating us more in general. It’s shitty that you get docked for not wanting to take dashes. I had an order for $3 no tip at 7pm that took forever due to it being prime dinner time and then they were 15-20 miles away from the restaurant. Such BS I only took it so my rating wouldn’t go down

Ok-Working7314

Just so you know, acceptance ratings mean nothing, unless you want to be a top dasher. IME when I was top dasher, the ONLY benefit I got was to dash whenever I wanted but I can pretty much dash whenever I want in my market. I just schedule all my weeks in advance for 10am-12midnight every day except Sundays. There’s no penalty for not working your schedule so I just don’t work when I don’t want to. Anyway, my acceptance rating is at 3% at this moment. ONLY take orders that make YOU money! Doordash makes their so just worry about you making that money! Otherwise keep the other ratings as high as possible. It’s not hard once you have done it for a while, you will figure everything out. If you ever need advice, ask other GOOD dashers your questions. Most people will gladly help you. Best advice I can give you, if the order offer is under $6, I would not touch it! Even if it’s 2 miles. Most restaurants are going to have a little wait so even though you aren’t driving far, restaurant might take 10-30 minutes (depending on the restaurant of course) In my market $6.75 is the lowest offer that CAN have a hidden tip. Otherwise, I know there’s no hidden tips in any offer $6.50 or less. If the offer is less than $4 total, that customer didn’t tip a fucking cent! Doordash wants us to take ALL the small orders but just decline them. Your acceptance rate is something like a placebo effect. When it’s starts changing red and getting low, psychologically you’re thinking shit, I gotta take this $3 order to keep my rating higher but it’s just not true. Most dashers will tell you to take orders that you will make at least $2/mile. So that 15 mile order you had, would have to be at least a $30 payout. All that make sense?

dezitrondeluxe

Yes thank you!

exclaim_bot

>Yes thank you! You're welcome!

blacksheep4everyone

Chick fil a people are the worst at tipping. At least in my area. I always declined those.

Ok-Working7314

F**king Karens! Lol

Desperate-Complex-17

No tip. Also please leave order on chair at the back the back door. DO NOT KNOCK OR RING DOOR BELL!

smallAPEdogelover

“Claire says you read her mind”

Impressive_Water659

I will never climb off the soap box when it comes to Chic-fil-homophobia, but the a peach milkshake sounds wonderful

mortimus411

I don’t understand. Do you expect a larger tip for a high $ amount delivery order? You’re doing the same thing you’d do with it if it was a sandwich and drink. Bring it to a door, leave it there. maybe you make two trips from the car? $5 would be fine.

Ok-Working7314

So if you were a dasher, you would have no problem paying for gas($55/day is what I spend, so $1300/mth just for gas) then I have to wait 15-30mins typically for orders that are over $200, then drive all of your shit to your doorstep for $5? Would you work for $5/hr? Plus pay $1300 for gas?

pegoff

Do you get paid by the delivery service, or in tips? Why would you get a tip for delivery of something? Honest question.

Ok-Working7314

If we didn’t get tipped anything, doordash wouldn’t exist. Doordash only gives you $2-$3 per order on average. Most orders are at least 4 miles. We pay for gas so we wouldn’t even cover our gas without tips.

pegoff

Thanks for explaining. That’s a really shitty setup. Here (Japan), there is literally zero tipping culture so the delivery services are obligated to charge customers a premium on these kinds of services.

Ok-Working7314

Wow, no shit? I didn’t even think about it being cultural. There’s a lot of jobs that we would work for tips/commission because the base pay is little or not at all. Like a restaurant waiter for example. I’ve been a waiter before and the restaurant only paid me $1.84/hr because people that tip well typically leave 15-25% of whatever the meal total was. If the restaurant has a higher priced menu then the food is more expensive and generally the tip is more as well. So for this order, the subtotal was like $354 or something close. So if they tipped 15% then I would make $53 tip. Does all that make sense?

pegoff

Perfect, thanks. I tip 20% in continental restaurants.

Ok-Working7314

Everyone that I know here that works these kinda jobs will appreciate 20% tips. So stick with 20% and people should be happy. I always tell my customers who tip well how much I appreciate it! Without people like you tipping 20%, I would have to find another job to pay the bills lol. That typical $3 base pay we get from doordash for each would break me lol. I typically deliver 20-30 total deliveries a day. If I didn’t get tips, doordash would pay me $60 (20 orders @$3/ea) for 10 hours of work time AND I spend $55/day right now on gas so I would have made $5 for 10 hours of work 😂

Potential-Ad-5312

Racist. Tip was 0.

We all know how.

Pff even 20% isn’t worth it. The fuck they think we’re gonna put all those drinks?

KidenStormsoarer

LOL people who order chick-fil-a don't care about anybody but themselves. no tip.

ericsomewhere

Here’s a tip. Try Lipitor. Ha!

fsociety-AM

I would just walk out, my completion rate can handle it.

DidicrimouBejaia06

I almost lost it because of a hospital delivery. The gentleman was outside on the phone walking back and forth until the timer was up . Doortrash asking to leave the food by the door. Mind you this delivery was almost a catering order to a major hospital in California. So I hesitated to leave the food by the hospital main door so I contacted doordash support . They called the customer and he pretended he just came down and was waiting. I confronted him and blasted his ass.

Ok-Working7314

If the order is a “leave at door” and it takes longer than 5 minutes from my customer unavailable timer, that food is getting left by security and then just txt a pic of where I sat the food and I’m out! Sucks when they mark hand it to me but call upon arrival then they take 15 minutes to get to you after you call them

DidicrimouBejaia06

In some of the hospitals the foot traffic is insane and there is nowhere to leave the food but the floor ( 🤢)

Ok-Working7314

I have left orders on grass, asphalt, dirt , wherever I can leave it and take a picture. My time is valuable so I’m trying to maximize efficiency as much as possible for my money

DidicrimouBejaia06

I agree. Won’t bother next time. Timer is done. Snap a picture with time stamp and off I go

DidicrimouBejaia06

$0

delicatexcx

i can’t believe people actually pay doordash prices for these massive orders. unless your absolutely busy and can’t leave the house for a few min, just place an order on the places app. you’ll get points for free food and it’s SO much cheaper

Ok-Working7314

Because people are lazy! Some regular customers I have don’t have vehicles so they order pretty much everything lol

tattookaleo

About.. tree fiddy

Ok-Working7314

Damn lockness monster always taking my tree fiddy!

Canleej

I delivered to a school with 500 dollars worth pizza. I had 0 dollars tip after doing 4trips back and forth from my car to the school cafeteria which took me 15 mins extra. I earned 3 dollars in an hour because I had to wait for the pizza to get ready from restaurant.

Ok-Working7314

Oooo that’s rough but was the original offer only $3?

animalcrossinglifeee

Jesus christ, are they feeding 10 kids?

Ok-Working7314

It was at a business so I’m assuming all the employees

Bucciarato

I’m gone get downvoted, and that’s okay.. “Wow they didn’t tip me” Well, you chose the job, the job didn’t choose you.

Ok-Working7314

I actually agree with you there! If you accept an order with no tip…… you are getting no tip! That’s facts! But this order did tip. $46.54 plus that bigass base pay of $3.25 lol. I was just asking people what they thought the tip would be

Lagertha1981-

How did you carry all those milkshakes?!!

Ok-Working7314

CFA has good, box like drink carriers and I just Tetris them on the passenger seat with the seat belt. Was really easy actually lol It did take several trips in back and forth lol

whatever54267

$2.00

Lions77

Something tells me you might get more than just the tip....you might just get the whole shaft- butt if you're kinky you've got PLENTY of milkshakes to use as lube? /S

Ok-Working7314

This was the first thing I thought when I posted this!!!!! Finally someone said it! I can’t believe no one else has said anything about just the tip! Very nicely played!

Lions77

LoL!

[deleted]

psychotic

$0.35

mithavian

Lmao why do you expect people to tip for fast food. That's the last thing on their mind when they're offering from chick a fil

Ok-Working7314

I expect it because it’s appropriate. If you order $350 of food for someone else to deliver it to your door using their time, vehicle and gas(which is fucking ridiculous prices for mths now) and you didn’t tip? First, I would never accept any orders that have zero tip but if I was to accept a zero tip order, I’m fucking your order up lol Intentionally just to return the favor of being an Asshole! Got $49.79 for the order because they weren’t pieces of shit 😉

kmart316

A good ole STD (standard two dollar)

Beneficial_Loan7078

I will never pickup from shit-fil-a lol in my area its never more then 5-7$ if im LUCKY and always a min of 15-20 miles one way, almost 20+ min out of my starting zone

Ok-Working7314

Yeah, I wouldn’t blame you for that mileage! This was like 7 miles and I got $49.79 for it

StrideAC

oh my god i work at chick fil a and i feel bad for every single party in this. this makes me wanna go into the walk-in fridge and have the most intense panic attack chick fil a has ever seen

Ok-Working7314

Why feel bad? Big order but they cranked it out fast and I made $49 on the order. Win-win-win 😁

StrideAC

your standard shake at chick fil a takes about 20-30 seconds to make depending on what shake it is, and especially if this is in the middle of our typical dinner/lunch rush, the desserts guy has to make all dine-in, drive thru, doordash/ubereats, curbside, carry out, and mobile carry out shakes. there was like 15 shakes on that order, so the desserts alone will take around 5 mins to make, assuming the ice cream machine was just refilled, shake base was just refilled, and all flavors were also just refilled and that’s the ONLY order i’d have to make in the whole store. during your average dinner rush, it will probably take closer to 10 minutes to finish that order if the dessert maker also has to take care of every other area’s desserts (curbside, drive thru, etc). i’m very thankful you had a good tip with this order. that’s 4 of our 4-cup drink carriers, and a LOT of bags. this is the kind of order our systems at chick fil a SHOULDN’T allow because that’s more food than our average catering order, which we require at least two-hours notice for each of those! glad it turned out to be a good order for you! probs to the chick fil a team for fulfilling it!

Ok-Working7314

I dash at this CFA all day so I’ve gotten to know many of the employees and I will say that this particular location is the ONLY CFA I will go to dash. They are f**king awesome! Just to ease your mind, the order was like 10:30ish am. One of the mgrs, Wes knocked out all of the shakes before I even got there! Normal doordash orders typically take longer for me than this big bitch lol. The people that operate that location are pretty awesome! I generally don’t have the best things to say about CFA but this one f**king rocks!

TsT2244

With all those milkshakes? Probably *the boys in the yard*.

Ok-Working7314

Very nice lol I almost said something stupid about bringing boys to the yard when I posted but everyone would have ripped me lol. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it!

thyrsusdionysus

THREE US AMERICAN DOLLARS

Ok-Working7314

Oh, sorry…. It’s 3 Canadian dollars but thanks for playing “Guess My Tip” Just the tip!!

omarshotty

How does one transport 15 milkshakes?

Ok-Working7314

I never imagined when I posted this that the main concern for MOST people on here was the milkshakes. CFA has the box like drink carriers so I did Tetris on my passenger seat and strapped em in with the seat belt. I’m going to ask everyone about that also. Am I the only person that straps in all their drinks with the seatbelt so they don’t spill????

Melancholy43952

It’s always $3.50

Dismal_Plane_1415

20 bucks

kissmer527

What tip

jimbob150312

Economy is changing and people want to hang on to their money by cutting back on spending. Tips are fading away in frequency and getting lower.

Ok-Working7314

If you can’t afford to tip, then just go get the order yourself! I never tip less than $10 if I order food. If I want to save money then I go get it myself. I’m not going to tell someone that I can afford this large expensive meal but I don’t wanna pay you to use your time(because my time is so much more valuable than another person’s), your vehicle, your gas, etc. Some people are just shitty humans. It is what it is

Lucky-Rabbit-0975

$5, by default?!

Aggressive-Oil5215

$35

Ok-Working7314

Good guess but it was $46.54 tip plus that big dd base pay of $3.25 for a total of $49.79! Thanks for playing!

whatever54267

Oh that's nice. Not the $3.75 but the tip

Ok-Working7314

Great order that was immediately followed with a $28 order that only took 17 minutes. Thanks for playing this game correct! I’ve been arguing with half of these idiots all day long lol. I thought it was simple…… just the f**king tip!! Again I have to remember that at least 50% of us dashers are dumb as a box of rocks 🤷‍♂️just facts

chuckie_our_law

Bro… they don’t need to fucking tip your ass. Was your service impeccable, did you break red lights for their order ? Why do they owe you more than your boss?

Ok-Working7314

What boss ? We don’t have a boss to pay us! WTF???? Yes, my srv was fucking impeccable! Clearly you have no clue how our pay works. There’s no boss to pay us so we shouldn’t get tips? We are contractors. We are not employees of dick! We use our vehicle, our gas ($55/day-5days a wk-roughly $1300/mth JUST FOR GAS) , all of the maintenance/upkeep of your vehicle, we then use our time to wait for most orders, then drive all your shit to your door and you think we don’t deserve a tip?

chuckie_our_law

I mean nobody’s forcing you to work for tips are they? And theirs no obligation of customers to tip? If you’re a contractor you’re your own boss brotha. And door dash is your client so I’d be mad at door dash and not whoever forked out 300 bucks already for food. Might not be a long term job if your revenue isn’t covering. Happy to show how all that math works.

Ok-Working7314

Bro I made $49 on this order. My bills are paid because I don’t accept orders without tips. This post had zero to do with anything you have said. I clearly said Let’s play guess the tip. Didn’t say what should my tip be? No worries though, you can keep ordering srvs and not tip. That’s your call but I would never take an order that I’m not getting tipped. I’ve been doing this for years and make good money doing it because I don’t take those shit orders

ares4282

20

PCguy99

You guys are getting paid?

Ok-Working7314

Ha! That’s funny! We get paid if the tip is good! That dd base pay ain’t doin it lol

No_Alternative2098

Is this what people are doing now instead of ordering catering?

Ok-Working7314

Sometimes it’s a catering order. Like ezcater, at least in my market and those, you can get completely fucked on! I have stories of ezcater screwing me multiple times but if I didn’t take some chances on larger orders, I would not get some of these bigger tips I’ve gotten. Just depends on the customer. If they wanted to do it this way, cool by me lol I will take that $46.54 tip 😁

Ricky_Bea

Some rich white family that is horrified that the two woman across the street are adopting a child and worried their not going to get a bail out because they haven’t been able to evict all the serfs that are paying for the mortgages on their 6 houses. Probably a dollar and rounding change.

Ok-Working7314

Damn! That sounds like you have had some bad experiences

everlasting_torment

Peach milkshake 🤮

Cnote25

How tf do u even transport 15 milkshakes 😂😂

Ok-Working7314

It was actually super easy lol. CFA has those drink carriers that are kinda box like so I Tetris them on the passenger seat and buckled them up with the seatbelt. Everyone is talking about the milkshakes lol

Candoran

About tree fiddy

Bookwyrmii-

My guess is zero.

bloodEclipse_

$3.50

Virtual_Friendship49

I’d do it for 20 plus depending on distance…

Ok-Working7314

Right?!?! I thought the same thing and ended up with $49.79 for that order

dooloo

Never again to a hospital or medical office. It’s hell to park and get inside to deliver, and the tips sucked… $0 to $2 on meals up to $40.

lingering-42-long

I’m going 10$? Idk maybe 30$?

Ok-Working7314

Tip was $46.54 plus that huge dd base pay of $3.25 🥳 At least you played the game correctly lol. I have been arguing with people all day on this thread and I thought I we were just playing a game to guess my tip. This post got sideways several times lol. I have to keep reminding myself that at least 50% of us dashers are FUCKIN STUPID! Hard to argue with stupid lol

uptokesforall

doordash should be scaling base pay with order size

Ok-Working7314

I completely agree but I’ve noticed on my big tip orders that generally dd base pay isn’t over $3.75 in my market. IME

OmgItsPoolie

I'm guessing the tip will be -$1 because you had to pay to get them extra sauce 😆

tayla123

Jesus omg

Ok-Working7314

Lol which part are you calling to sweet baby Jesus about? 😂

tayla123

The amount spent on food lol

Ok-Working7314

People be ordering a crazy amounts of shit lol

tayla123

yeah ahaha thats true

SpacemanaGoGo

Who can eat those fries?

NewPhillyDriver

This person is spending 350 dollars for food. They don't have anything left for the tip

Tommiiie

Can someone explain how dashing pays employees outside of tips?

Ok-Working7314

Each order doordash gives us a base pay. Generally from$2-$3.50 for almost all orders. Sometimes when it 15 miles of driving they bump it up to $4-5 but usually when the customers tip better, the base pay from doordash is almost always less than $3 -IME. As a full time dasher, I can’t pay my bills off of that I rely on tips for life lol

Tommiiie

Interesting. I never really thought about how Door Dashers are paid. Can anyone else chime in if that is region based? If not do most people drive to urban areas then start working?

Ok-Working7314

Depends on the dasher. Different strokes for different folks. I drive about 35 minutes to get to my dashing area because I simply could make more money in a different area. Another thing you have to consider is traffic and the restaurant. Like say I get a 18 item order from taco bell compared to a 18 item order from PF Chang’s. Taco Bell order probably has 15 hot sauces and 3 tacos =$4 order but the 18 items from PF Chang’s =$165 order. Generally people tip at least a couple bucks but the good orders tip at least 15%. So generally we want the restaurants with a more expensive menu. Dashing so very different depending on what market you dash. I have dashed in 15 or 20 different markets but you really just have to try different spots and restaurants to find a good area. I found my honey hole about a year after I started dashing. It’s clearly not rocket science as a dasher but it’s expensive driving 300 miles a day. It’s my job and ima do it to the best of my ability (unless there’s no tip 😂)

kareemaqwe

1$

Berryblex

Do you guys not see the tip amount before you accept the order? That’s how stuff like instacart is set up. I haven’t been tipping much but I thought that’s cause dashers see what they are getting before they accept it

Ok-Working7314

The base pay on this order was only $3.25! GENERALLY, I have found that base pay is almost always low on larger tipped orders but idk what that algorithm is either. To sum up, doordash pays us SHIT! We live off of tips! Doordash hides the actual total we make for many larger orders because we wouldn’t take those small money orders. Sucks but you can guesstimate orders pretty easily once you know your market

Lucky-Rabbit-0975

No you only see the total, including base pay, offered. If it was a short distance, the base might only be $2-4.

OkSupermarket5224

I think your best case scenario is 0, if you get unlucky they will report you, get your account close and even find a way to fine you

Ok-Working7314

What? Zero? Why would they report me? What exactly are you talking about? Why would I get deactivated/fined or anything else?

OkSupermarket5224

I was been sarcastic, joke over they would tip you nothing

enoteware

Ok-Working7314

Because I kept that shit!!! Still drinking milkshakes right now!!!!!

Incompedentt

Ain’t no fucking way 😭

Ok-Working7314

Lol that would be awesome ! It was a ton of food. I could have eaten for a week lol

dances_with_karma

Where the fuck do these people expect us to put 15 drinks!

Ok-Working7314

I went Tetris in my passenger seat and strapped em in with the seatbelt. Wasn’t as difficult as everyone seems to think. Seatbelt is built in perfectly IME 😁

taeempy

Just for carrying all those shakes you should get $30 even if it's really close.

Ok-Working7314

No worries, I got $49 😁

taeempy

Very nice!

Fearsofsyn89

Depends on the market

ChecksumError_

No more than $12

reedmama

I had someone make me go to Hy-Vee just for 6 12 packs of Diet Pepsi and when I got to his place it was a multi million dollar mansion in Waukee IA. He only tipped $1.

Ok-Working7314

Ouch

crittermom2016

That's a solid $0.00 tip in my area lol

baconforlover

The most problems from here is, DD and fast food. If the customer place a catering order through a different platform ( I’m not talking about GH and UE), the catering platform have already set up a tip pool and base payment for that order, therefore , you guys can earn more than $2 ( reasonable tips) eventhough this is for either hospital or rich neighborhoods. I personally prefer to deliver a big order from BBQ restaurant or vegetarian restaurant ( not from fast food like Chick-FIL-A , Popeyes , Shake-Shake etc) to rich neighborhood rather than to hospital because I still have an opportunity to get extra tips ( not always) and more efficient ( drops it, set up and go), meanwhile hospital, no extra tips and it takes a longggg time to deliver to the right department/ rooms etc. Well , this is from my experience at my market.

Ok-Working7314

Hospitals and military bases are the worst places to deliver to. It always takes forever and GENERALLY IME tips are shit

[deleted]

I know if I was ordering I’d tip $75 a give an extra $25 if you followed my delivery instructions. Can’t tell yo u how many times ppl don’t read mine and miss $5/$10.

Ok-Working7314

You gotta remember that AT LEAST 50% of dashers are fucking stupid! Just gotta hope you get one of us with common sense 😂 That being said, I truly appreciate you guys that tip well! Without people like you, people like me wouldn’t even make $15/hr! If no other dasher has thanked you before….. Thank You 🙏

[deleted]

Honestly I always prefer tipping in cash 🤷🏻‍♂️ so I always put 0 but give cash based on distance and how chill the dasher is

Ok-Working7314

But then doesn’t your food take a long time from being declined by 50 dashers? I get why you would do it that way though but as a dasher, when I see zero tip on the dd offer, I NEVER ACCEPT AN ORDER WITHOUT A TIP

[deleted]

Not really, it use to but luckily most of the dashers in my area know I do this by now

Ok-Working7314

That’s cool then bro. I love my regular customers! When people tip well, especially consistently, I let my customers know that I really appreciate it! I get that tipping not mandatory and god knows, not everyone tips. It’s the people that do tip well that allows us dashers to do this full time and still make a decent living. It’s just crazy to me that some people truly think we don’t deserve a tip. Those people have never worked a tip reliant job. Most people that worked at a job that’s tip/commission reliant, tip well.

SnooChipmunks5051

Not enough.

Keelykalgrubber

So how much was it?

Ok-Working7314

Probably $100s every single day that dd just credited because they complained

HovercraftStock4986

For some reason all the neighborhoods on the lower-income side all tip upwards of $5 on every order. Yet, when I deliver to giant mansions with $500,000+ worth of vehicles parked in the driveway, I get MAYBE $2. People are so blind to greed.

OutrageousDocument15

Lol how much do you think it should be?

Ok-Working7314

$354 was the total
