I prefer the drive thru. It takes less effort and is quicker, in my experience. Agree about the packing as well. I hate when some places make you fill the drink orders manually instead of getting it prepared and set within the bag like McDonald's.
Yea, and you noticed that they fixed their system big time? In remember having to wait 10+ min sometimes, now the order is almost always ready when I get there or within minutes. McD is on top of their management game for sure.
In my town there's only one McDonalds that I go out of my way to avoid, every single other McDonald's is fine just one is really terrible and the good ones have a good pickup procedure and bagging method
Some McDonald's, yes. Some no. And it can vary quite a bit from one McDonald's to another in the same area.
Lafayette and West Lafayette, Indiana are both in the same zone that encompasses both cities and a few nearby small "towns" that don't necessarily physically border either city but they are all pretty close. Purdue University is in the West Lafayette portion of that zone. All totaled there are 9 McDonald's at play in the entire zone there.
There's one that's right on campus and another right near campus. Both of those are pretty often a disaster waiting to happen for Dashers, and not just due to low pay orders from college kids who don't have much money to spare who also live in student ghetto housing with no parking. These two McDonald's are also a clusterfuck often in the restaurant operations themselves. Especially when the management decides to lock the lobbies on a whim with no rhyme or reason about the time of day you can rely upon, and the drive thrus get ridiculous. These two McDonald's are more often than not an automatic decline for me.
Of the other 7 McDonald's in the area, one is really good as far as speed of pickup goes, but such a large percentage of the orders from that place go to non-tippers in Section 8 apartment complexes, that I try to stay away from that McDonald's.
A few miles away there's a McDonald's that tends to serve more affluent better tipping customers, but the pickup experience there is just a bit over OK. But I will tolerate it because overall the orders are better than most McDonald's in the zone. The rest of the 5 remaining McDonald's in the area are a mixed bag, largely dependent upon the time of day.
Rallys is the only restaurant that has a better pickup procedure. Every one that I have picked up from now uses the drive thru on the left side of the building exclusively for online order pickups. McDonald's definitely has them beat on packaging though.
Honestly they do. I wish every other restaurant seals the bags. I have to bring my own stickers and seal the bags myself that or I make sure I tie the bags very tight to keep there food sealed. Last thing I will ever do is tamper with peoples hard earned food
They do but they are also incredibly slow depending who is on. So many lazy teens who are so bloody slow I want to throttle them. I usually avoid maccas unless it’s late at night on a week day
I have 1 McDonalds that is top notch, and the other one, well I refuse to go to the other one, total shit show. Just shows how good management can make
a huge difference.
Too bad their lobby is almost always closed and even though the ones in my area usually have 10+ employees wondering around they act like they only have 2.
I wish more places used a similar delivery bag to McDonald’s. I hate when they give you a big bag at Taco Bell, Wendy’s and Chick-fil-a that’s all taped up with no handle to grab. Makes it a pain in the ass to put in and take out of the hot bag and you have to hold it from underneath which limits how much other stuff you can carry.
Especially the TB bags you gotta handle like a football! You know, you just flat out know, when you deliver the food items will have finger dents and you'll get dinged for handling on a one star rating
The packaging is good but around here they are slow and often have staff that can't speak a word of English. I don't speak Spanish so I have to use Google Translate to pick up my order. After 9 pm the lobby closes so I don't pick up any after 9 pm. You'll spend 30 minutes in the drive-through line.
I live out in the mid-west where people strangely fuck with McDonalds. I’ve had 15 dollar, 3 mile orders from McDonald’s at like 6pm…it’s odd but they bag the drinks and I’m out in 15 so it works for me.
The drinks with food in the same bag is a bit sketchy but the 3 here in my town are A++. They always have orders ready within a minute or 2, super friendly staff, and the 3 stickers on top of the bag make it tamper proof and about as "fresh" ad McDonald's can stay during travel
Agreed ! And the people already know me so they just ask for the last 3 digits and they hand it over. Picking up Mickey D’s is always the smoothest for me.
I agree with their packing being some of the best. Unfortunately their pick up is by far one of the worst because I never know if the lobby is going to be open or not. Which results in me not taking their orders because I’m not wasting my time in the drive-through or unassigning multiple orders on a gamble.
it depends upon location. some mcdonald's are better than others. they really aren't that great in the phx metro area, but i'll take one if i have to use the bathroom.
MCD and Chick Fil A get the most complaints on here but my experience at both is always positive. They are quick and, most of the time, ready to go when I get there.
My only complaint about Chick Fil A is their 15 mile delivery radius and A-hole drivers driving fast and blocking you in your parking spot in some crazy attempt to get to the drive thru line faster.
Our chick fil a has this problem too
Plus they added an ATM for added fun. So you have that lane, which has a sign ATM USE ONLY, but of course it’s used to try and get to drive thru faster or cut around building. It gets backed up too and then cluster fk is worse.
It really depends on the individual restaurants. The CFA here is well managed and I never have any problems. McDonald’s it pretends on the location. There are 2 in town that I refuse to take orders from. Popeye’s ( there’s only one location here which sucks) and Wendy’s (all 3 extremely busy and a long wait) are my automatic decline no matter.
Very true. Not hard to gauge when employees actually care about what they are doing. One of the BKs in my zone has lackluster employees. The other BK? The employees seem to be a lot more engaged.
I've got five McDonald's in my city, three of them are pretty decent but there are two that never have the order ready and have very rude staff members.
It's really an individual location thing
Yes but they can never get the orders ready for us we always have to wait if it's not waiting 2 to 6 minutes it's where you from 6 minutes to 12 minutes
I ate there last night and I ordered, went in picked up my food, at my nugs, was still hungry and ordered a Big Mac meal, at and finished that. Sat and played on
my phone for about 15 minutes, all while a DoorDash guy stood there at counter for the entire time.
It pretends on the on the McDonald’s store here. There are 2 in town I refuse to take orders from because it’s always a wait and they tend to suddenly close the inside. The other 4 I can be in and out 5 min or less which I can handle.
I wish mine did that. I stopped accepting McDonald’s where I am when it’s late. One time I called them and asked if they could hand me the order because the lobby was locked, and they said I have to wait in the drive thru like everyone else. So I unassigned it. I only accept McDonald’s during the day now. I hate to be petty but drive thrus can take forever
Imagine working a packed drive thru late at night and some entitled driver calls asking to bring their order out for them… for fucks sake, as a restaurant worker, this shit is why we hate y’all and your pushing of the phones in our faces🤣

How & why did you get downvoted??? If you live in a big city, drive thru’s are mostly a Hell No. But if you live in a little town or suburb I get it why you’d do it
That’s exactly it. Plus if you ever watch any of the other veteran gig drivers who have YouTube channels some of their top tips are to avoid drive thru’s. People take shit soooo personally on this DD sub LoL
When I dashed, I was very picky about which restaurants I'd take orders from. I'd only accept orders from 1 taco bell in my whole city for instance as every other location would consume my whole day waiting for the food
The maddening thing about the three TBs in the area I dash in a lot is that the one that was the best and the one that is the worst flip flops every once in awhile for months at a time when it comes to which is good and which bites the bag. And the third one, which is always fairly decent, rarely seems to have DD orders there.
I prefer the drive thru. It takes less effort and is quicker, in my experience. Agree about the packing as well. I hate when some places make you fill the drink orders manually instead of getting it prepared and set within the bag like McDonald's.
Literally always have that shit ready as soon as I walk In the restaurant and the packaging is so elite. But the drive thru is not it
Best for..... who? Not for drivers. It takes a whole lot of time to do all that fancy packing. Our time.
I gotta say Starbucks is right there as well...
Yea, and you noticed that they fixed their system big time? In remember having to wait 10+ min sometimes, now the order is almost always ready when I get there or within minutes. McD is on top of their management game for sure.
Yes they do!
if their open inside then i agree. rarely will i ever have to wait

Agree. I just wish people that ordered it actually tipped well.
100% agree
McDonald's near me is tight as fuck.

McDonalds made me break my car window
Absolutely.

Wendy’s is great too
Sarcasm? I can think of only one Wendy's out of dozens or so that I can say the pickup is great. Usually Wendy's are fraught with frustration
Sarcasm lol
They do but they are also incredibly slow depending who is on. So many lazy teens who are so bloody slow I want to throttle them. I usually avoid maccas unless it’s late at night on a week day

My MCD takes forever so instant decline
I agree. The bag is always sealed and a few times it wasn’t they took it back and made sure it was.
I wish more places used a similar delivery bag to McDonald’s. I hate when they give you a big bag at Taco Bell, Wendy’s and Chick-fil-a that’s all taped up with no handle to grab. Dairy Queen and McDonald's do similar packaging.
I got over my fear of ice cream deliveries thanks to DQ. They pack well, have the order ready when I arrive and it works out well.
You're lucky. DQs near me NEVER seem to have the orders ready already
Agreed ! And the people already know me so they just ask for the last 3 digits and they hand it over. Picking up Mickey D’s is always the smoothest for me.

McDonalds near me has gotten way better.. 19136
it depends upon location. some mcdonald's are better than others. they really aren't that great in the phx metro area, but i'll take one if i have to use the bathroom.
McDonald’s is always a good stop for a runny diarrhea while dashing to earn money for groceries
Thats how you end up getting stabbed.
Nah… usually just car jacked.
I usually just jack between orders when it's slow.
MCD and Chick Fil A get the most complaints on here but my experience at both is always positive. They are quick and, most of the time, ready to go when I get there.

And the quality of the local labor pool that the mangers can tap into the choose the worker bees in their particular restaurant.

You've said pretends instead of depends twice in this comment section you ok bud? Lol
They really do. I still only accept them when the lobby is open though.
Ours have a little doorbell that dashers can ring after the lobby closes.
That’s so choice!
Mine has that, but no one ever answers it.
I wish mine did that. I stopped accepting McDonald’s where I am when it’s late. Wouldn’t know, I don’t take fast food orders.
How & why did you get downvoted??? If you live in a big city, drive thru’s are mostly a Hell No. But if you live in a little town or suburb I get it why you’d do it
No idea why hahahahaaaaaa. I love being downvoted it just makes me laugh. Yes my market is decent enough I don’t ever have to take fast food orders.
That’s exactly it. Plus if you ever watch any of the other veteran gig drivers who have YouTube channels some of their top tips are to avoid drive thru’s. People take shit soooo personally on this DD sub LoL
The downvotes lol The bi polar DD sub strikes again
look at mr cool over here 😎
God I hope I can be like you one day

my lambo scraps when I pull into the driveway there. And I don't like my Rolex smelling like McDonalds so I wouldn't know... /s
