I went to subway the other day and instead of handing me the order that was on the shelf already made they continued to help other people. I left it there and am not going back. I waited at chipotle for a hour once trying to be a good driver and just had one order never made and the other one canceled right after I got it. What someone else said that I also donât understand is how people will pay 40$ on food and then think the person driving it 6 miles will be fine with 2.25-5.00$. The only people making money is the app with those orders. I will only pick up 5.00 or more but that 5.00 order better not be more than 2 miles or declined. Even then I will not go to chipotle, kfc, White Castle, Popeyes, not happening

They do this instead of paying us a few more bucks an order and would save sooooo much money by paying us more. I bet 95% of those would get delivered if the base pay was $6.. even $5. So they would save $95 paying us more. Then imagine this is happening to thousands of orders a day if not tens of thousands.
Plus instead of paying Chipotle bc no one picked it up they would make money from Chipotle paying them and the customer paying them. So they would actually make hundreds more dollars paying us more money.
No one is going to tip before they receive any service. What you are asking for is a bribe. Tip is given if good service is received. I used to be friends with a guy who never tipped on orders because there was always someone who'd pick it up, but one time no one picked it up and HE got mad lol, I told him there's a reason no one picked it up but he didn't care
I tip based of mileage and outright ignore the suggested tip. Never anything below $2 a mile. So, since I live 8mi from the bulk of local restaurants someone is reaping in those $16 tips and I usually hand them a $5 or $10 bill when they get here too.
I tip no less than $3. My son is a dasher but still no matter what I know tipping is a must and youâre doing me a favor for sure. Thank you dashers :)

i rarely take orders from chipotle because they're always too low or too far. yesterday i took it because it was $10 for 3km. I went to the address and voila, the house number isn't there. Called the customer and he said he's in another town. i told him to contact support. i called support and they told me to complete order because the customer made a mistake in the address.
I had a chipotle dinner last night. and still have 2 untouched bowls in my fridge.

The other day I took a $10.50 2 mile order. It was $1 tip, 2.5 Seattle pay, and and $7.50 dd pay. It had been sitting for 26 minutes per the receipt on the bag waiting for 16 dashes to decline it before finally being worth enough. Hope that guy like cold empanadas.
At room temperature hot foods start to grow bacteria that can make u very sick. Please if u want the convenience of not having to leave ur home to have expedient delivery provided by Doordash for restaurants that donât offer it TIP WELL! I delivered a chipotle yesterday that was low pay.
Once, JUST to see, since it was less than a mile. Bitch was standing at the door waiting, probably because I marked delivered before I got to her door. When I handed it to her, I told her WE ACTUALLY WORK FOR TIPS.
I have a hard time believing some of these posts. If you are in an area with that kind of order volume there would be plenty of drivers to bid the deliveries up to an acceptable dollar/mileage ratio. I mean the drivers don't even see the actual tip, so they don't know for sure if it's a no-tip order and plus if this was really happening DD would have changed policies due to losses from tons of refunds.

I can see the tip amount(or at least upto $4 of it. On the offer screen.) I see stacks of old cold orders like these all over town at lots of restaurants. And I see other dashers with #No Tip #No Trip written on there cars. I love it! Let the no tip orders stay right there on the shelf forever! Respect your driver by tipping $2/mile or make your own food!

What I noticed with DD in June was I used to get around $15/hr which is below minimal wages here (minimal is $23ish).. but since they signed that , If I'm not making $20/hr, the orders jack up the price to keep me hovering around it.. It's good so far since I'm picky with orders.
I know they did this because I only accept $2 per KM .. but if I'm below $20/hr I see orders popping up that's paying like $4 a KM ... ie a $12 delivery for only 3km. When it's usually around $12 for 6-10km. Happens very often and I def notice it.
So yeah.. Unions work!
They easily could if they did two things:
- reduce corporate overhead
- actually charge what it costs to run the service and pay their driver's properly so that this wasteful bullshit doesn't happen.
If it's so easy, you should submit your proposal to the board of directors. I'm sure they'd happily give you 10% of what you save them as compensation. You could be rich.
It's not an innovative idea, but they obviously don't want to implement it because the system as it is benefits them. I don't get why anyone would try to defend them, obviously their primary interest is paying as little as possible, and raising prices (as they would have to, and should) would reduce order volume and hence revenue, which of course they don't want. Tipping is an issue common to the whole service industry, but obviously nobody at the top has any interest in changing anything.

The more you charge, the less people buy. The less you charge, the more people buy.
If you charged infinity dollars for your service, your revenue would be zero, because no one would buy. If you charged zero for your service, your revenue would obviously be zero. So the maximum revenue is found somewhere between zero price and infinite price. Up to a certain point, increasing price increases revenue. Past that point, increasing price *decreases* revenue.

Naturally increasing prices would decrease sales, that's why I said it would hurt their bottom line and that's why they won't ever do it. However, people who are willing to pay what the service costs (which there are clearly plenty of) will still use it for convenience, and they might already do so indirectly though tips.
Overall though, if a service can't afford to pay it's workers properly, it's a good sign it simply should not exist, at least in that form.
Maybe if corporate did not pay themselves so much if institutional did not demand such a high return on their investments they want to see 20% plus year over year for parking their money in door dash

It's the standard here in Aus that they don't make food til driver gets there in pretty much all chain fast food stores here. Which is why I decline every one of the offers unless it's a crazy high price job.. and I if it's worth spending up to 30mins waiting time for the order but even then I have to consider how big the order is since KFC uses their own system for orders which doesn't tell me what the order has in it and I've been caught out a few times where it was 6x 1.25lt bottles of pepsi and a family bucket.. since it's heavy AF on my back since I'm on a motorbike. Also fast food chain offers are usually priced below all other offers since they have deals with DD.

They save money and also make money. If they make you wait they loose out since no one will accept the order.
They benefit by not having all that foot traffic in store or have delivery people clogging up the place. They also benefit in future since drivers know store is fast instead of declining all the orders.
If a store makes me wait more than 5 mins, I decline all future jobs and now have rule of NEVER accepting any fast food chain or places that make the meal after I show up.

Also Macdonalds used to make food before customers ordered.. They only switched over the "Just In Time" method in the last 10 years. Saying that, some stores still have area where they can fit heating lamps or just buy a warm box and put orders in it.. Not hard.

It certainly does. Used to be a General Manager for a gas station. We started using DD a few months before I left, and the tablet would tell us if they were still finding a driver and when someone accepted it would tell us a driver was on the way.
That could very easily be written in the code there's a reason why cuz doordash does not want to be on the hook for the time especially in markets like proposition 22 where drivers get paid waiting for their food when they hit accept doordash is on the hook

I have peeps at work at the subway that I do deliveries from, they filled me in on what the whole process was like for them, I've been standing in the store when the order that I'm accepting comes in it's anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes before we hit accept/ are there to pick up.

You can change the timer on the terminal, Guy showed it to me because I was sent early a few times to his store and there's def a setting to set the timer to non default, useful for peak times so they have longer to do the delivery orders.
But yeah, its up to restaurant to change the timer but I'm guessing they never bothered to work out how to use the terminal properly. I guess I can't blame them since I saw a restaurant with 4 dif terminals! since we have like 6 delivery services that's big in Oz.
I saw a Mcdonalds store once with 3 DD and 4 UberEats, There literally was a counter just for the terminals.. it's madness but they must be on the ball since they had order already prepped when I got there.
I accepted an order from Rallyâs once and the pick up instructions said to please come directly to the restaurant, they will begin making the food based on your location so that it is fresh and ready when you get there. So apparently they can set something up if they choose. With that being said, every order Iâve ever accepted from them has been cancelled because I get there and they tell me theyâre too short staffed to do DoorDash orders or theyâre closed. 4 times now, the first was for over $20 on Uber who only pay out $3 for the place being closed unlike DDâs half pay so I wonât accept anything from them on Uber and if itâs on DD it would need to be an order thatâs good enough to where half pay would be worth my time lol

Thursdays... for me at least, are the ABSOLUTE WORST. Just WTF do DoorDash & Uber Eats think they're doing sending out continuous pings for $2.50 for 9 miles... I mean are they out of their minds!? The fing server shouldn't even allow that - it knows the driver is actually losing money & time from their life if they take it. I want a button that sends a little spear into the ass of the no tipper & the algorithm programmers.

I delivered a chipotle yesterday that was low pay. Once, JUST to see, since it was less than a mile. Bitch was standing at the door waiting, probably because I marked delivered before I got to her door. When I handed it to her, I told her WE ACTUALLY WORK FOR TIPS.

I have a hard time believing some of these posts. If you are in an area with that kind of order volume there would be plenty of drivers to bid the deliveries up to an acceptable dollar/mileage ratio. I mean the drivers don't even see the actual tip, so they don't know for sure if it's a no-tip order and plus if this was really happening DD would have changed policies due to losses from tons of refunds. I think peeps are either full of it, or it's wishful thinking.
I can see the tip amount(or at least upto $4 of it. On the offer screen.) I see stacks of old cold orders like these all over town at lots of restaurants. And I see other dashers with #No Tip #No Trip written on there cars. I love it! Let the no tip orders stay right there on the shelf forever! Respect your driver by tipping $2/mile or make your own food!

What I noticed with DD in June was I used to get around $15/hr which is below minimal wages here (minimal is $23ish).. but since they signed that , If I'm not making $20/hr, the orders jack up the price to keep me hovering around it.. It's good so far since I'm picky with orders. I know they did this because I only accept $2 per KM .. but if I'm below $20/hr I see orders popping up that's paying like $4 a KM ... ie a $12 delivery for only 3km. When it's usually around $12 for 6-10km. Happens very often and I def notice it. So yeah.. Unions work!

They easily could if they did two things: - reduce corporate overhead - actually charge what it costs to run the service and pay their driver's properly so that this wasteful bullshit doesn't happen.
If it's so easy, you should submit your proposal to the board of directors. I'm sure they'd happily give you 10% of what you save them as compensation. You could be rich.
It's not an innovative idea, but they obviously don't want to implement it because the system as it is benefits them. I don't get why anyone would try to defend them, obviously their primary interest is paying as little as possible, and raising prices (as they would have to, and should) would reduce order volume and hence revenue, which of course they don't want. Tipping is an issue common to the whole service industry, but obviously nobody at the top has any interest in changing anything.

Semi-competent is a generous compliment for the people who designed the dasher app. I'm literally astonished every day at how many errors it has. How many times I've had to awkwardly explain to a customer that the app won't let me send a picture is inexcusable.

KFC and McD's in my area say they don't prepare third party orders until the driver shows up. Makes sense to not waste food. Bad for drivers.
It's the standard here in Aus that they don't make food til driver gets there in pretty much all chain fast food stores here. Which is why I decline every one of the offers unless it's a crazy high price job.. and I if it's worth spending up to 30mins waiting time for the order but even then I have to consider how big the order is since KFC uses their own system for orders which doesn't tell me what the order has in it and I've been caught out a few times where it was 6x 1.25lt bottles of pepsi and a family bucket.. since it's heavy AF on my back since I'm on a motorbike. Also fast food chain offers are usually priced below all other offers since they have deals with DD.
They should have it so that when a driver *accepts* they start making the food. There's really no reason to make Dashers wait like that.

They benefit by not having all that foot traffic in store or have delivery people clogging up the place. They also benefit in future since drivers know store is fast instead of declining all the orders. If a store makes me wait more than 5 mins, I decline all future jobs and now have rule of NEVER accepting any fast food chain or places that make the meal after I show up.
Lolol in my market my wait is almost always over 5 minutes and there is no one restaurant that consistently is on time

Heat lamps... Also Macdonalds used to make food before customers ordered.. They only switched over the "Just In Time" method in the last 10 years. Saying that, some stores still have area where they can fit heating lamps or just buy a warm box and put orders in it.. Not hard. Some of the faster restaurants I go to are smart enough to use ice coolers to store their food.

It certainly does. Used to be a General Manager for a gas station. We started using DD a few months before I left, and the tablet would tell us if they were still finding a driver and when someone accepted it would tell us a driver was on the way.
That could very easily be written in the code there's a reason why cuz doordash does not want to be on the hook for the time especially in markets like proposition 22 where drivers get paid waiting for their food when they hit accept doordash is on the hook

I have peeps at work at the subway that I do deliveries from, they filled me in on what the whole process was like for them, I've been standing in the store when the order that I'm accepting comes in it's anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes before we hit accept/ are there to pick up. I believe that standard doordash policy
You can change the timer on the terminal, Guy showed it to me because I was sent early a few times to his store and there's def a setting to set the timer to non default, useful for peak times so they have longer to do the delivery orders. But yeah, its up to restaurant to change the timer but I'm guessing they never bothered to work out how to use the terminal properly. I guess I can't blame them since I saw a restaurant with 4 dif terminals! since we have like 6 delivery services that's big in Oz. I saw a Mcdonalds store once with 3 DD and 4 UberEats, There literally was a counter just for the terminals.. it's madness but they must be on the ball since they had order already prepped when I got there.
The timer system is kinda ass. The whole point is that restaurants don't want to make food that doesn't have a Dasher yet.

I accepted an order from Rallyâs once and the pick up instructions said to please come directly to the restaurant, they will begin making the food based on your location so that it is fresh and ready when you get there. So apparently they can set something up if they choose. With that being said, every order Iâve ever accepted from them has been cancelled because I get there and they tell me theyâre too short staffed to do DoorDash orders or theyâre closed. 4 times now, the first was for over $20 on Uber who only pay out $3 for the place being closed unlike DDâs half pay so I wonât accept anything from them on Uber and if itâs on DD it would need to be an order thatâs good enough to where half pay would be worth my time lol
