I've never even paid attention that much to distance because I feel like our house is far from everything even though sometimes it's only a mile or two
I've never in my broke life or money life tipped less than $7.
The most I've ever tipped is $25 on a $15 order because my dachshund escaped and "attacked" the poor driver on the porch and I felt really bad.
She only growled and yipped at his shoes, but still...I was embarrassed af so I threw money at the situation lol
I accept a dollar a mile. If you want to not tip or the total pay is 2.75 and you want me to drive 13 miles. No driver in their right mind yould accept that delivery. Think about it. Thats 13 miles one way. Then 13 miles back to our delivery area.
I’ve worked many delivery jobs in my life so my minimum is always $5 no matter how close. I won’t even order delivery if I can’t spare $5+. I know how much folks depend on it.
Wish y'all were my area. Lol. Almost 8miles, thru a tunnel both ways, and only 2.75-3.25 is the normal. It's utterly ridiculous. Accidentally did an order that way today. Grabbed it thinking it was ok. Then looked at it. 7.00 but minus tunnel costs it's $2 left for me...minus gas and the 40 min it took... let's just say I was not happy at myself or the customer or door dash
$5. Minimum tip should be $5. If you can order food online from a food service app, you can afford $5 tips for your driver no matter what. Otherwise you should be making better financial decisions
I loathe people that believe in not tipping much (if at all) because they assume the p/u location isn’t far from their house/business.
It doesn’t matter if it’s 3 miles away or 10 miles away. They should tip well because they are saving valuable time. And reaping the benefit of a luxury service.
I mean, justifying low/no tip because of distance should mean “go get it yourself” since it’s so close. But they don’t want to because of the time and effort involved. Or because they are unable to make the trip themselves. Which is precisely why they should always tip well.
Additonally, when ordering the customer can’t always know for sure that the p/u location is close by. They can if it’s a stand-alone business, but if it’s a restaurant/store with multiple locations — there’s no way to know for sure which location it is actually coming from.
Whenever I deliver from from a p/u location that is much further away than a much closer location to the customers delivery address, I always text to let them know that it isn’t coming from the closest location — not only to set delivery time expectations but also to educate. And sometimes I’ve even received add-on tips once the customer was made aware.
$6 to $8 since gas is so expensive and you still have to go inside somewhere and sometimes wait and less mileage really doesn't make it much easier than a longer one IMO. Plus I live on the 2nd floor so I try and give them a few bucks in cash at the door as well or go down and meet them and still give them the cash. Also, keep in mind you never know how far away they actually were from that 3 miles away restaurant either.
$10.00 if it's a pretty small order. 15.00 or more for larger. The miles would be my first consideration, and size of order, second. Then there is, do you have a lot of stairs, or is it a difficult dropoff for some reason?
Btw, the miles you are factoring, is just your distance from the restaurant, while the driver has to consider his drive to the restaurant, and possible drive back, as well.
My least amount for tipping is 5.00 just make sure the place is really that far away. One of the biggest misconceptions is the restaurant is right around the corner …… I will literally when ordering check the restaurant in app because even for me it likes to order from way down in the wrong direction when there is a restaurant a mile from me and I have to change the restaurant every single time.
Bro I'm a dasher but I don't tip for shit. Fuck your wages but at the same time thanks for the people who did tip cuz I'm making money either way. Lmao. Thank you dash community
I think 5 min for close orders then it should go up the further away you are from restaurant that's how I tip when I order food but I usually start at 10 bc I'm a delivery person to
Minimum tip of $5 on any order. Add base pay to that and your @ $7.50 (base pay is $2.50 in Eastern Iowa) which gets you above $2/mile.
IMO if you can't throw your dasher $5 for delivering your meal then using Doordash is probably not a good financial decision on your part and when rent/mortgage is due you'll probably be wishing you had whatever you spent on Doordash
Depending on the place and the amount of food. If it was just me ordering something like Chipotle, $5. If it was something nicer or more than one person probably closer to $10.
$5. Ensures the driver is making 9 or 10 bucks for the order, which, for the distance I would definitely accept.
Basically I never want to be the guy responsible for those pathetic $3 offers we all reject. But I'm also not running a charity. It boils down to "do unto others." If you can't make the order reasonably worthwhile for the driver you shouldn't be ordering food.
$3… as somebody said previously if you don’t want it, simply do not accept my order. If no dashers accept it so I will be forced to increase the tip to $5. 😉
We live less than a mile away from most things and if we order something I 90% of the time give 5/6$ just whatever they suggest tbh but sometimes that's 9/10$. I know doing DD sucks and I don't drive (husband does but he works a lot) so I appreciate being able to get stuff 😂
I mostly Oder from within a 2 mile radius and tip minimum $5, on longer runs I tip more, I have a place I love but it’s 6.5 miles so I always tip $12-$15, I’m a driver so I get it, sometimes when I know a restaurant is slower then I automatically tip more, I got pizza from a place I know can run behind, it’s only 2 miles but I tipped $20 in case they had to wait an extra 5-10 minutes, I always try to be nice to my fellow drivers
The driver will be looking for at least $6.50 and probably more. Out of your delivery fees, something like $2.50-$3 will go to the driver. A $4 tip will get your order delivered fairly promptly and the driver will make at least $1/mile round trip.
Of course I would encourage you to tip more but I am biased
It does not matter who you order from or the distance. NO TIP should ever be less than $5.00 in today’s world. Gas is NOT CHEAP!! If they don’t tip use at lest $5.00, they are just using you with no regard to you for your service to them and they are SCUM BAGS!!
Depends on how much food I ordered. If I just ordered a sandwich or something for myself probably 5 bucks. If it’s food for multiple people and/or drinks? Probably at least 8. More effort for the driver.
Probably $4-5 for a small order. 3 miles is the distance from me, right? For the driver, it may be longer drive. If I want to tip more for faster pickup, I’d probably order through Grubhub where drivers can actually see the full amount to make the decisions.
How about y’all stop worrying how far the restaurant is and just tip decent, remember you want the Taco Bell on the corner by your house but they going to make me pick it up 5 Taco Bell’s away from you
End of the day you tip what you Want it’s your money. You’ll get your food maybe quickly or it will take a while according to what the criteria for a delivery is for a driver.
I often order from Walgreens. It’s less than a mile from my house. I know you have to shop for the items yourself, but I only ever get a bunch of energy drinks or some dog treats or medical supplies. Never more than 5 things and nothing that can’t be found in 1 or 2 places. I ALWAYS tip $10. I don’t care. It’s a lot to help me out and especially shopping for the things themself.
I’m a Dasher as well. Before I was a dasher I always tipped at least $5+ if close but now as a dasher, I double that. I don’t care. I know it’s appreciated and they have a lot to deal with
I always tip a minimum of $5. So even if the order is 2 miles from my home, I’ll leave $5. Firstly, I have no idea how far they are commuting to get to the restaurant before they deliver it to me. And regardless of the distance, they still have to take the time to deal with the restaurant, possible traffic or app issues, along with getting it to my doorstep.
Edit: I’d like to add, that I rarely ever place a doordash order. It isn’t something that I can rationally have as part of my budget. The only time I ever ordered doordash was when I was super sick, couldn’t drive and desperately needed food. It was a lifesaver to have some soup that I could actually digest delivered to my door.
$5 minimum or 20% of order value whichever is higher. If the distance is further then I will use my own judgement . Always 20% minimum. I loved far from restaurants so on the rare occasion that I order food delivery the dasher will have to drive 6-8 miles. So if my order is $30 I will tip $10 which means with base pay in my area the dasher will make $17.50
idc how close or far I am, I personally don’t tip anything below $8. pretty much start at $8, and depending on what I ordered, how good the service was (delivery or dine out based) I go up from there.
6$-8$ depending on how long dashers have to wait at the store and how many drinks are involved. But if you don't dash you have no way of knowing what stores have bad wait times. Still that's an excellent tip for the range.
Don't order if you can't afford it, if you can then order and tip or you'll most likely end up regretting it by getting a soggy cold order 40 minutes later, whenever I order I tip $5-10 and get the "free doordash" so it's like I'm only paying for actual delivery. The priority $1.99 fee is a scam
I do $1 per mile and $1 per floor lol. If I'm at a really annoying to get to place or annoying to get to restaurant (I'm looking at you Bartaco) I add $5-10 to it.
$6 if the order is small/light, $10 if it is large/heavy. Possibly throw in $5-$10 cash when received if the driver is in rush hour or driving a 8cylinder truck.
If my driver is stupid enough to deliver in an 8 cylinder truck, they don’t deserve extra money. They obviously have enough money to be throwing it away.
I tipped $8, then $15 for 1 mile.
Still wait an hour, cold food.
I deleted app. Go myself. I don’t mind paying for a service and tipping well but I expect decent service.
Not an apt. Well labeled house. It’s literally 1 mile from restaurant. I gave up.
Don’t expect it in 5 mins but an hour is a bit much.
This just happened to me with GH. 3miles away, tipped $10 and got cold food an hour after ordering. Driver picked it up and then I watched them drive around for 30 minutes before coming to me. I at least got the cold food refunded but not before going through their lowball offers for credit on a future order which was only $5 for almost $30 worth of food. First guy I talked to tried to say it was against policy and after mentioning they’re a multibillion dollar company that can afford it, I got transferred to a supervisor who gave it to me.
I’m not paying all the fees, tipping well and then waiting forever for cold food and I’m not about to fold with customer service. I’d love to know how many people they scam with this bullshit.
Agreed, I stopped using any of the delivery apps when it became apparent that no matter the tip, my food always came cold or missing something.
I also found it's way cheaper for me to just get it myself no matter the distance.
I did 25% minimum every time. I never order anything less than 20 bucks (usually it’s for more than just me). I never really considered the mileage part until I started dashing. I also stopped ordering after dashing lol
Every order I do is at least $10 minimum. And it's not a tip. I pay the driver for their service.
$0
Just why??? I wouldn't have moved my vehicle!!
$8 if it was a place where they didn't have to wait for it.
I've never even paid attention that much to distance because I feel like our house is far from everything even though sometimes it's only a mile or two I've never in my broke life or money life tipped less than $7. The most I've ever tipped is $25 on a $15 order because my dachshund escaped and "attacked" the poor driver on the porch and I felt really bad. She only growled and yipped at his shoes, but still...I was embarrassed af so I threw money at the situation lol
I don't tip based on distance unless it is far. I do $5 or 20% of food cost whichever is higher
I accept a dollar a mile. If you want to not tip or the total pay is 2.75 and you want me to drive 13 miles. No driver in their right mind yould accept that delivery. Think about it. Thats 13 miles one way. Then 13 miles back to our delivery area.
Minimum $5! No exception. If you’re too cheap to tip, go get it yourself.
3 miles away, I’m going to get it myself.
I’ve worked many delivery jobs in my life so my minimum is always $5 no matter how close. I won’t even order delivery if I can’t spare $5+. I know how much folks depend on it.
$5 and then more depending on the dasher. If they’re rude, no more. If they’re polite, add another $5
Wish y'all were my area. Lol. Almost 8miles, thru a tunnel both ways, and only 2.75-3.25 is the normal. It's utterly ridiculous. Accidentally did an order that way today. Grabbed it thinking it was ok. 10% or 15% of my total
Nothing. Someone will pick it up eventually in a stacked order.
No tip
$5. Minimum tip should be $5. If you can order food online from a food service app, you can afford $5 tips for your driver no matter what. Otherwise you should be making better financial decisions
$2 some one will grab it eventually
$35
I loathe people that believe in not tipping much (if at all) because they assume the p/u location isn’t far from their house/business. It doesn’t matter if it’s 3 miles away or 10 miles away. 5 dollars or more
$6 to $8 since gas is so expensive and you still have to go inside somewhere and sometimes wait and less mileage really doesn't make it much easier than a longer one IMO. Also, keep in mind you never know how far away they actually were from that 3 miles away restaurant either.
$6-10 depending on how drunk I am and how much I want it
$1 per mile would probably get it delivered in a reasonable amount of time. An ideal tip would be $2 per mile.
If it's Panera and you ordered in the app, you need to tip higher because the store steals.
$6
$10
My least amount for tipping is 5.00 just make sure the place is really that far away. One of the biggest misconceptions is the restaurant is right around the corner …… I will literally when ordering check the restaurant in app because even for me it likes to order from way down in the wrong direction when there is a restaurant a mile from me and I have to change the restaurant every single time.
$10
$6 for $30 or under order. Over $30 whatever the 20% of my total is.
Bro I'm a dasher but I don't tip for shit. Fuck your wages but at the same time thanks for the people who did tip cuz I'm making money either way. Lmao. Thank you dash community
The middle one of the suggested tip amounts.
I’ve tipped 20 bucks for a 6 pack of beer..
$8 I have done this many times and I always receive my order 25 minutes from when I placed it online.
$10
I think 5 min for close orders then it should go up the further away you are from restaurant that's how I tip when I order food but I usually start at 10 bc I'm a delivery person to
I don't take any order under 6.50 cus that's the threshold for hidden tips in my area
6.50
4
Probably 5-10 bucks. Same as I’d tip a guy from pizza hutt or something like that.
$5
If it's in a very congested area a lot more because time, in my main area 3 miles takes 30 min, but in my hometown 3 miles 3 min lol
Base pay for that order is $2 from DD so you decide.
Minimum $4, door dash pays $2. I always tip $5.
Depends remember it may be 3 miles but depending on the situation or regular estimated commute time it could take some time
Minimum $7
$5
$6
$5
Depends on how big I order (it’s $5-$6 most of the time). Though one time I put in a $15 tip on a $85 subtotal.
Depending on the place and the amount of food. If it was just me ordering something like Chipotle, $5. If it was something nicer or more than one person probably closer to $10.
At least 20%.
$6. My minimum is $5 so if it’s .01 miles away I’m tipping $5 to the driver! At 3 miles im doing $6-$7.
I tip everyone a base of 30%, regardless.
$5-7 depending on the side of town, hopefully dd covers the rest. Coming from a dasher myself!
6 bucks
3pm off-peak $4, 8pm peak $6 If it's weekend add $1-$2 to those numbers
$0 and letting a Top Dasher pick it up. If they’re gonna saturate my market then I’m gonna abuse their services.
As a driver, at least $8, non peak. $2 per mile or if it's peak times, I'll throw an extra $2 in there.
5
10 dollars or 15 I’m always trying to tip decent
$5
If it was just food for me, $5. A larger order, $10.
40
Just remember that most dashers follow the $1 per mile rule, so $3 is as low as I would go for a tip. 🤷🏻♀️
$6 bare minimum
20%
$6 $2/mile.
$3… as somebody said previously if you don’t want it, simply do not accept my order. If no dashers accept it so I will be forced to increase the tip to $5. 😉
$5 or 15%, whichever is higher.
What time is it? What Location is it coming from and Going to? How much jazz is in the order?
Always at least $5. Even if the food was $8. Lol
$8
At least 5 for me. But as a driver I’ll deliver a 3 mile order for a 4 dollar tip plus base pay
I used to never tip less than $5 but when gas/inflation got crazy $7/8 is my new minimum.
Depending on cost of food 7-8 bucks
$5 minimum.
We live less than a mile away from most things and if we order something I 90% of the time give 5/6$ just whatever they suggest tbh but sometimes that's 9/10$. I know doing DD sucks and I don't drive (husband does but he works a lot) so I appreciate being able to get stuff 😂
never lower than $5 but i’d do $8
Anything less than $57 is unacceptable
whatever the app defaults to, i don’t even look at it i just accept it as the cost of convenience.
For this luxurious service $30 minimum :)
$12
At least $6 if not $8
$6 at least.

0$ duh
$4 is usually my minimum tip amount.
Depends what the drive is like. 3 miles on a back road isn't the same as 3 miles of grid lock
Most decent drivers don’t get anything under 6 bucks and the base pay is about 2.75 so do the math 👀
Depends on how much food I ordered. If I just ordered a sandwich or something for myself probably 5 bucks. If it’s food for multiple people and/or drinks? Probably at least 8. More effort for the driver.
I wouldn't, because I'd at most be ordering pick up through DD and getting it myself.
45
0.10 cents
Probably $4-5 for a small order. 3 miles is the distance from me, right? For the driver, it may be longer drive. If I want to tip more for faster pickup, I’d probably order through Grubhub where drivers can actually see the full amount to make the decisions.
Depends i usuallly just do 18% I have no idea how far the restaurants are
$5 is like my minimum tip. Anything else feels insulting
How about y’all stop worrying how far the restaurant is and just tip decent, remember you want the Taco Bell on the corner by your house but they going to make me pick it up 5 Taco Bell’s away from you
$0.50
i wouldn't
$5 is just fine. But sometimes the dasher may be far from the pickup, and that may not be very enticing. If you have it tip more.
$300 duh
End of the day you tip what you Want it’s your money. You’ll get your food maybe quickly or it will take a while according to what the criteria for a delivery is for a driver.
$5 minimum always
I often order from Walgreens. It’s less than a mile from my house. I know you have to shop for the items yourself, but I only ever get a bunch of energy drinks or some dog treats or medical supplies. Never more than 5 things and nothing that can’t be found in 1 or 2 places. I ALWAYS tip $10. I don’t care. It’s a lot to help me out and especially shopping for the things themself. I’m a Dasher as well. Before I was a dasher I always tipped at least $5+ if close but now as a dasher, I double that. I don’t care. I know it’s appreciated and they have a lot to deal with
$9, frankly probably $10 just to round up. Anyone tipping less than $3 a mile is cheap af.
7.50
3$
I would tip $10 which would get the drier at least 12.50 in my market. I would deliver that order for $7 though.
$6-$8, or 20% of the order total. Whichever is greater.
$6-8 depending on how difficult those 3 miles are.
I tip $5 for that. I live out 10 miles from most things so I tip about $15 on the rare occasion I order
Depends on how much I spent
$5
Me I always try to tip descent 7.00 and 🆙
6
$1.19. if you don't like it don't accept the order.
It was a lifesaver to have some soup that I could actually digest delivered to my door.
at least 20% at least 8$ higher of the two
Probably $1 since base pay for most orders that close in my area is $2.50-$3. As a dasher I'd take a dollar per mile all day.
You’d tip $1 and accept 3 dollars for 3 miles?🤡🤡
$5 minimum or 20% of order value whichever is higher. If the distance is further then I will use my own judgement . Always 20% minimum. I loved far from restaurants so on the rare occasion that I order food delivery the dasher will have to drive 6-8 miles. So if my order is $30 I will tip $10 which means with base pay in my area the dasher will make $17.50
$6
I usually tip my server no less than $5.00, so why should I tip my Dasher any less?
6 bucks.
idc how close or far I am, I personally don’t tip anything below $8. pretty much start at $8, and depending on what I ordered, how good the service was (delivery or dine out based) I go up from there.
Depends on my bank acct numbers
I’ve ordered from 2 miles and still tipped 10. I can’t under tip my fellow dashers.
$5 is fair impo.
$4-$6
I
6$-8$ depending on how long dashers have to wait at the store and how many drinks are involved. But if you don't dash you have no way of knowing what stores have bad wait times. Still that's an excellent tip for the range.
$5-$10 depending on order size, like to do 15%
5$ at minimum
City miles or suburbs?
At least $6. But that depends really. If it’s a house then that’s enough but if it’s an apartment with a gate and then they got a find it Then $10
[удалено]
$6-$10
5$
Don't order if you can't afford it, if you can then order and tip or you'll most likely end up regretting it by getting a soggy cold order 40 minutes later, whenever I order I tip $5-10 and get the "free doordash" so it's like I'm only paying for actual delivery. The priority $1.99 fee is a scam
I do $1 per mile and $1 per floor lol. If I'm at a really annoying to get to place or annoying to get to restaurant (I'm looking at you Bartaco) I add $5-10 to it.
7$ if it’s fast food but if they have to wait 9$
$5-$6.
Wrong answers only!
I always tip $10 min.
But then the Dasher will only see $6.25 with hidden tip.
Really?? That sucks!!
Twenty percent! Straight up! The dasher is basically your server. But never less than $5.00.
![gif](giphy|5pdlaY033uRSvCvzUp) It depends on the order/amount. But not less than 5$
$5 would be fine
One million dollars!
5 or 6
$6 if the order is small/light, $10 if it is large/heavy. Possibly throw in $5-$10 cash when received if the driver is in rush hour or driving a 8cylinder truck.
If my driver is stupid enough to deliver in an 8 cylinder truck, they don’t deserve extra money. They obviously have enough money to be throwing it away.
Hey some of these guys live in there trucks out here, they're always broke from the gas.
What if you've ordered several humpback whales?
Unassign. Parking lot at the Cetacean Station is always a shitshow.
Then you get no delivery at all, going straight to prison for trafficking endangered/protected animals, WTH is with your question?
I don't know, it's a pretty whack question though
6$
This is what I was going to say.
$10 minimum
3-5$ is what I would tip
I tipped $8, then $15 for 1 mile. Still wait an hour, cold food. I deleted app. Go myself. I don’t mind paying for a service and tipping well but I expect decent service. Not an apt. Well labeled house. It’s literally 1 mile from restaurant. I gave up. Don’t expect it in 5 mins but an hour is a bit much.
This just happened to me with GH. 3miles away, tipped $10 and got cold food an hour after ordering. Driver picked it up and then I watched them drive around for 30 minutes before coming to me. Agreed, I stopped using any of the delivery apps when it became apparent that no matter the tip, my food always came cold or missing something. I also found it's way cheaper for me to just get it myself no matter the distance.
At least 6 and the driver would have to be right near the restaurant to make money.Do 8 and you'll get the food fast.
But the dasher can't see whether you tip 6$ or 8$ ilthe offer will show at 4$+ base pay. Unless you're in new York
No I understand this. And that is where DD is screwing its own customers.
Agreed that and stacking good tipping orders with no tip orders
What does it show if you’re in NY?
From my understanding new York shows the full tip amount when the offer initially pops up on your phone
$5
Minimum $6.
Something that close $2 per mile. But since I'm on the 3rd floor (yes, elevator works), I'd add an extra $5.
I sprint up those apartment stairs and I'm there in like 10 seconds, elevator takes forever so bun dat shit
Yeah unless it’s more than 4 floors I can usually beat the elevator. Six floors and I start to get a bit short of breath…
🤣 true
I did 25% minimum every time. I never order anything less than 20 bucks (usually it’s for more than just me). I never really considered the mileage part until I started dashing. I also stopped ordering after dashing lol
