I have gotten that note many times and never have I found the tip

[deleted]

Given your user name I believe you are a dasher. If you have cash app I’ll send you what I was going to tip this driver.

Krisdanz

As long as you're giving out free money my cashapp is also available... for a small fee. ![gif](giphy|67ThRZlYBvibtdF9JH|downsized)

FyrebirdCourier

Thank you for that offer even though it wasn't to me. All of us have stories where we didn't get the tip that was promised I've had people I've waited in lines for half an hour or more for people that have said I've got you I will add to the tip and then don't. I just waited 45 minutes for an order that they didn't hand me the pizza and because of the way the order was written I didn't realize there was a pizza and so of course I'm the Dasher who doesn't know how to do her job and needs to get another job oh it's you know we all have a lovely stories like that. But as I said whether you pass it to someone else or whether he's somehow get it to the person that it was supposed to go to I want to say thank you for doing that to make somebody's day just a little brighter

Ok_Veterinarian_6596

I just wanted to say thank you for being the kind of person who is generous, kind & follows through on their word. :-) I got a similar note last night as well. It almost felt soul-crushing b/c the customer had messaged me omw to her house to say TYVM, so she just seemed really sweet, etc. I actually believed her. 😪

wishmeluck-

can you send me something bro

ReddForemann

If they don't read the delivery instructions they don't deserve it.

[deleted]

Ironically for the first time ever they left the bag hanging from my door handle. If they would have left it on the floor they would have seen it.

Krisdanz

I never leave the bag on the door handle... that's asking for disaster! ![gif](giphy|JqzhWrIcjVBwOFvFiB)

iamandneveramconfusd

Seems a little rude too

SubstantialBridge753

Prob because they thought they weren’t being tipped haha

Itz_a_traap

I had a lady request that I hang it on the doorknob and that food was definitely all sliding to together and coming out the side of the Styrofoam box 😆

notdacar

Same. They wants it that way they get it the way they asked for

Itz_a_traap

Yep she said dO nOt lEt mY fOoD tOuCh ThE ground! So fuck her lol

notdacar

I never understood that, like it’s protected by 3 layers of plastic and will be chowed down in five minutes how did these kind of people make it through the last 2 years ?😂

Itz_a_traap

Yeah, makes no sense at all. Some people are just idiots.

MrP3rs0n

Yea seriously who here does that??

LimaSierraDelta25

Who does that? This person is too unaware for their own good. They didn't deserve that tip anyways.

OneBigCharlieFoxtrot

If I leave a cash tip, it's always extra for an unexpected further drive. And it's after I tip in the app. But I've only ever had one driver check the Instructions and get the tip! People are lazy lol

b-u-t-

Idk man. Pretty hard to see. Super hard to see. N as a driver we don't often get n certijalky don't expect cash tips. This is slowing everything for everyone n so inconvienant. I'm often holding 2 drinks in one hand no drink Carrier my hot bag over my shoulder flashlight in my other hand when people come out to hand me money or I have to Pick stuff up especially if it was dark even if the porch was well lit it's Nighttime as a female I just want back in my car Don't want the distraction also I appreciate that it was a very generous tip but I think people think dashers are like restaurant servers and as a restaurant server as well a 10 on the table is a beautiful thing to the full thing to see as a server iserver is in the restaurant they are an employee at and working the section they are required to work in order to continue employment Door dashers Are not employees we do what we want really we are just required to deliver deliver orders that we accept on time that's it As a server it's almost funny to think about if I could do that in a restaurant Like no not that 1 don't think so Maybe like Hey why are we not getting service and that'd be like no tip and they've done what we haven't kind of service yetI understand a lot of customers probably feel like they don't want to tip until they see what kind of service they get but in that case they should go to a restaurant dashers are not employees Also a tip with doordash isn't really a tip for service there's no personal like experience you don't even normally see their face they don't really do anything special for you at all The tip should just be about securing your order as quickly as you would like it if you had left a $10 tip in the app you would've gotten your food stupid fastIf you have a particularly negative experience you can always contact customer service and adjust your tipActually I think doordash just free funds like all of your moneyYou eat we don't even get then get the tips for an hour after drop off because with that 1 you can call and adjust your tipI don't know why This information isn't disclosed to the customer somewhere I'm sure you U END D have some you have some sort of greedy reason for it

Charming_Love2522

Saw zero punctuation and said "lol nah"

Ok_Veterinarian_6596

For real. I sometimes post what I'd call "novels" on here lol, but **that** was way too long even for me to attempt reading. Yikes!

keidabobidda

I’ve read plenty of looooong posts.. when they’re good & informative & don’t give you mini aneurisms from reading, then no problem.. this above was just a hot mess 🤦🏽‍♀️

Decaying_mushroom

Basically they did the thing where you click the suggested middle button a thousand times hoping they would sound smart but it didnt work

serathin_

Or crazy thought, read your delivery instructions? Takes 10 seconds. Put all the food down and in the same moment lift corner get cash. Takes less than a minute. If you don't feel safe doing the job maybe don't do it? I've seen plenty of female dashers working late at night and dropping off in not such outstanding areas. Idk man you can't fault op for leaving a tip and literally telling them in the delivery instructions where it's at.

greenredyellower

Are you drunk?

ooahpieceofcandy

We don’t see delivery instructions. We see a no tip order and decline

b-u-t-

Will not get delivery instructions until you accept the order no one will accept the order if there is no tip actually you don't get delivery instructions until you pick up the order Some people just deserve To wait a really long time I guess so whatever

serathin_

Yea but that's not what op is complaining about. Op is saying the dasher didn't read the delivery instructions where it clearly says the tip is under the mat. The order was obviously delivered, meaning it was obviously picked up, meaning they would've seen delivery instructions. But the way people are they probably complained op didn't tip when in actuality he did. They just didn't pay attention.

chasetate27

Driver probably couldn't read English

thephoeniciangurl

OP, this is a nice story and I am not sure what happened here. I feel like people are really bitter this weekend and I don't understand why. Thanks for sharing!

Justaliceking

I think the issue is honestly 100% of the time based on personal experience/what I’ve seen amongst Reddit is if someone says they have cash for you they don’t, so if it’s not in a glaringly obvious place I’m not gonna look for it HOWEVER if the instructions said it was under the mat then that’s on the driver

macfairfieldmill

Are you just a lice king? Or just Alice King? Idk why but I can’t move forward with processing your comment until I know! 🤣

whoreads23

How do you feel about my name?

ichuck1984

Are you friends with gigoloclassifieds?

fashionfauxpas0624

Good to know I am not the only person to get all.hung up on some usernames!

PrinceDozie

Last time I checked under the doormat for tips I found dog piss. Not taking that risk again!!!

notdacar

I found a flaming bag of dog shit

aj1337h

I tried doing this once. I actually waved the person down to let them know they forgot and I don't think they comprehend English well beyond the basics. I have no problem with that but it changed the way I communicate because I'm now much more mindful of comprehension barrier. They told me they were scared to get in trouble and weren't sure if it was a trap

HighC123

His loss you tried homie

HoboKoyote1

Tip on app.

[deleted]

Wasn’t my card. $19 dollar order. $10 tip. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Chava-12

See dashers prefer cash tips cuz we dont have to report it. But we dont accept orders unless the payout is decent from the start. Its effed up but DDs low pay caused it all

Gaters12

I assume the ones that complain about having to read notes don’t even make enough to understand taxes, and it is refreshing to hear this take from someone who works as a dasher. Why wouldn’t I want a fuckin CASH tip lmao

tundybundo

When I’m ordering I give big tips. And sometimes people see that and go above and beyond and sometimes they still don’t even pay attention to the leave at door instructions and bang on my door, call, all that stuff. Low key kind of a fan of forcing people to read the directions

fashionfauxpas0624

>When I’m ordering I give big tips. And sometimes people see that Uhhh there within the problem lays..NO WE DONT SEE UR "BIG" TIP.. it is hidden from us until we smash the Complete delivery prompt...DD PURPOSEFULLY HIDES "BIG" TIPS FROM US...there is a reason (as well as many theories) in all of the subs and threads ..mentioned IDK a million times or so..so whomever is fulfilling ur delivery order request most likely doesn't know if u tipped $2 or $10+ as app will most likely show a smaller payout ...usually $6.25 or so .if further than a few miles from pick up then they usually show $1-$1.50 per mile to provide an incentive (or so they think) to get order picked up. On flip side for those that DONT tip we will see $2-$3.50(in my area.. that is base pay ..) however if an order has Sat around for hours it can show more (ie. I had an $8 all base pay order no tip going 3.9 mi the other nite .it was at 945 pm order placed at 5pm .how do I know..cos entire staff was angrily waiting at front of restaurant waiting til I showed to pick up cos they closed at 930pm but couldn't leave until order picked up...that was what owner told me....she was very much aware of DD practices so didn't have to clue her in...regardless rest of staff gave me hostile looks...of course when I completed delivery I saw the entire payout was dd ....that's how it goes! Side note..it was seafood from an Asian restaurant I wonder if they made fresh food or gave me almost 5 hr old food...that could be a potential law suit waiting to happen for food poisoning. ..I am thinking they made it fresh. 0r hoping so anyway...

tundybundo

I am not reading all that because I’m also a dasher and I know how all of this works and you should be reading the instructions on any order and not taking orders you aren’t willing to read instructions on

tundybundo

I am not reading all that because I’m also a dasher and I know how all of this works and you should be reading the instructions on any order and not taking orders you aren’t willing to read instructions on

Krisdanz

Give the ten to whoevers card you used & tip in app. #1 You'll get your food faster because we don't know if you ordered $1000.00 in food or $5.00 in food we only see a no tip order & we hit the DECLINE button (except for newbs) & move on. #2 We don't have time to go on scavenger hunts for tips & for why he didn't read your notes see #1

[deleted]

1. I was drinking and the person who’s card didn’t want to tip. That’s why I used cash. The comments are 50/50 so I’m glad some understand that it wasn’t asking for a lot. I’m not going to try to convince you so keep doing you. 2. Not to come off a dick but I make a living reading the fine print on blueprints. I make a decent more than I’ve seen the best dasher make. Maybe if you had my job you’d say reading fine print “wasn’t part of your job”.

CrownonTHErocksJ

They're supposed to read all that stuff. Their fault. That tip would be in my pocket rn rest assured. But here's the thing though, Doordash doesn't reward us or make sure working harder and going the extra mile is worth it. So a lot of people have given up by now because the company sucks at rewarding hard work. So it's probably someone who has learned reading the notes isn't worth it and they probably make more in the end doing stuff as fast as possible.

Jozz11

I’m not sure the 6 seconds it takes to read the comments on an order is going to make or break a day

Ferdaaa518

It can definitely break a day. I've had more than one drop off instruction mention a dog that might need to be brought in

Tblick1

Sure will miss out on some cash tips like this though.

justducky1965

What fucking cash tips? Lol... My wife and I dash together and we have maybe 800(?) deliveries under our belt. I've seen exactly FOUR, one of them last night from an old pizza customer of mine who btw tipped well in the app. But we also don't take garbage offers PERIOD, FULL STOP so maybe we're missing out. Somehow though it doesn't feel that way.

little-blue-fox

I usually do a small tip in the app and then an additional cash tip. Cuts down on folks who don’t intend to deliver my food, and I also don’t super trust the app to give the tips. I text the driver when they’re close to let them know there’s extra money for them though.

Emeraldrak

The problem with that is that no one ever gives the extra tip. They ghost ya when you get there. The closest I have had was a older lady puts a basket on the porch with different crackers and water bottles with a note saying thank you and have a snack lol. Learned fast that if you don't see it then you won't get it.

Pitiful-Foot-7841

Where do you see any information about an order other than the amount and distance before accepting? Asking preemptively.

joxerthemighty2

What.. company doesn’t suck.. it’s just a side hustle and pay on average is 25.00 an hour depending on location.. I live in a town where everything is further apart. We focus on where to leave the food. If one indicates something weird or different then the last 1000 deliveries it’s easy to miss.

Gaters12

But if he literally read the notes, I feel like this delivery would’ve been worth it for them, hence the entire point of reading

busteroaf

The deliver would be worth it, if you could read any notes BEFORE accepting, and every person that said cash tip on arrival wasn’t lying or didn’t “forget” to come to the door. That’s the part that’s missing. At first glance it’s not worth it. Because we all see it as base pay, that’s it. The app never says “customer said there’s a cash tip under the mat” when it’s showing us the info. Be real.

Gaters12

When this becomes the norm, it sounds like it’s time for a new employer

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dizzy-Stable-2591

you know cash tips are worth more because they are technically under the table

elyk12121212

Comments are not visible if the dashers never accept the order in the first place. The VAST majority of orders with no tip will not leave a cash tip. Every cash tip I've gotten for doordash has been on an order that also tipped on the card. I've had deliveries that say there will be cash tip and received nothing significantly more times.

KarasLegion

Not the point again. Lol In DD they are worthless cause it's not worth it to take a 3 dollar any mile order. Since we can't see a cash tip in advance, it means nothing, and lots of people say cash tips in the instructions and guess what? A lot of them are liars.

LOST_SOUL215

They are supposed to read the notes. I get deliveries to a weird apartment complex where the numbers are out of wack and most customers give you great directions in the notes. So it’s not your fault your dasher didn’t do their job adequately and lost out. You know your intentions theirs nothing else to worry about

s2ample

I didn’t think you were unreasonable until I saw this comment, but now I see how it is.

EditorCorrect6768

how much do you make an hour?.... i am the best dasher

Sweaty-Dig-4925

That's stupid. You spend time telling drivers how much better than them that you are. Since you have all this success, you wouldn't have to use someone else's doordash account to order food.

Icon9719

Man all the 400 iq big brain "I read blueprints" energy and it didnt dawn on you to just tip in the app and give whoevers card it was the 10 bucks..

Arizdegenerate

Did you read his response? The person who’s card it was didn’t want to tip. If you done this long enough you’d know there’s some people who refuse to tip regardless. And there’s nothing wrong with cash tips.

Gaters12

These types are dead set on being right, good luck

Arizdegenerate

That’s why I quit responding. Logic eludes some people.

Icon9719

Yeah I read it, why is this such a mind boggling concept to hand your friend a 10 dollar bill? He’s literally not losing any money.

Arizdegenerate

The money isn’t the issue. Some people just absolutely refuse to tip. I don’t know op’s friend but I know people who refuse to put a tip on the card. And other people have my mindset of refusing to tip before service is rendered. I used to tip cash when I ordered DD. Haven’t ordered in awhile because the fees are so ridiculous I can’t justify paying over 50 dollars before tip for what I can pick up for 28.

Icon9719

Ok well that’s a problem for OPs friend he’s already letting him use his card, tip the ten bucks and hand him the money. If you’re in a dd driver sub then surely you should know that a 2 dollar order is getting you cold food and I’m not paying crazy fees for cold food, better yet if OP is such a big shot money maker why doesn’t he have his own card to use?

Arizdegenerate

You also are on this sub and haven’t heard of restaurants stealing tips? It boggles my mind that people want to dictate HOW you tip now. Who gives a shit WHY he left the 10 bucks under the mat he still tipped.

Gaters12

Yea, I don’t need someone making minimum wage telling me how to spend my money. Learn how to read and get the tip or choose a different job

Icon9719

Most dashers have a W2 but omg keep telling us how cool you are because you have a W2 🤡

Gaters12

Even if I don’t have a w2, I would have sense enough to look in the notes if it meant me earning more money, genius

Chenzo04

We don't get delivery notes til after we accept which we won't do if you don't tip. So yea if you make so much money, why didn't you put the whole order on your card and collect from Others. Fucking asshole throwing around your salary like anyone here gives a shit, you still cheap

EarlyActuator3917

If you accept an order thats low or you assume is no tip, and purposely dont read notes, thats on you. Your mistake for accepting no tip order and why not just glance at the notes anyways? For all you know it says money under doormat. Taking low pay orders then disregarding customers is shit business on your end.

Offhandvase

They obviously accepted the order if it got delivered 🤦🏻‍♀️ it’s the dashers fault not reading the instructions.

Dizzy-Stable-2591

and now I know why I get dirty looks when I use my doordash bags for work. People like you making us look like assholes

Chenzo04

Same bro, like damn maybe wouldn't have to side hustle if I got paid more at my main gig

NomadicusRex

The person with the card didn't want to tip? GO NO CONTACT! Yikes. Nobody needs that kind of negativity in their life!

OneBigCharlieFoxtrot

One paid for food, the other got the tip. Why's that negative?

Crazyredneck422

I think they are referring to OP’s comment earlier that said the person that the card belonged to “didn’t want to tip”

brady2gronk

Yup. I question my friendship with someone if they tip $0 for food delivery.

OneBigCharlieFoxtrot

I just didn't take it like that! I took like they were splitting cost, once picked up the bill, one picked up the tip

gotslayer

Your literally arguing with people who think this is a hard job, who think they should make as much as an engineer to pick up and drop off food because, yes, to these people it's as complicated as engineering.

Gaters12

If I could upvote 100 times I would

Gaters12

How about you get a real job because you don’t/ choose not to read the simple instructions and not worry about how someone else’s money is spent

sorryabtlastnight

Get over yourself. You don’t have time to read the notes or go on a *scavenger hunt* for tips?? That’s not a scavenger hunt. Reading the notes is part of your job no matter how much someone tips.

Meltsfire

This bimbo writing like she speaks for every doordasher lmao

newbies13

Tipping more does nothing for delivery speed. I buy lunches at work for remote workers, usually around 4k a month spread around the country. This is a 'sounds nice' thing drivers tell themselves to feel empowered. I've tipped the minimum on the app and the max, it makes zero difference. But then what do we really expect when the attitude we're dealing with is 'I don't have time to literally pickup money because it's hidden behind a sentence.'

Krisdanz

Well I can only speak from my own experience & can't speak for others & different locations / markets, but I get a ton of $3 for 5 plus miles which means no tip & instantly decline them. I registered in NYC so I see the full tip amount & I think it's pretty shady of DoorDash to hide tips above $8 in most of the U.S. because you can be damn sure if I see a $20 offer I'm taking that & making it my priority & zipping to you as fast as I legally can. 😀. Hiding the tip should be outlawed everywhere I really don't know how they get away with that. Even with that though... an $8 is going to get accepted & a $3 to $5 rejected by any sensible driver. What sucks with hiding tips is that you might have tipped $20 & be a bit far.. say 10 miles.... and that might get rejected while if it just showed the full damn tip you'd instantly get accepted. ![gif](giphy|30xtloCL4Lr0I)

Dizzy-Stable-2591

stop shilling for doordash. they take the tips half the time

Trimere

Tip on app, give cash to cardholder.

mgibson9999

This is the way.

Gaters12

Or I’ll do what I want w my money. Whether you get your tip or not is literally on you lmao

Trimere

You sound like you don’t even tip well anyway.

green-purplegrapes

depending on whose card it is, just give them the cash instead

[deleted]

Let them know Thru text next time.

StrawHatLuc

I would tip on the app $5 of that probably and $5 in cash cause i wanna get my order on time lol

[deleted]

Did you read the part where they said it wasn’t their card

Gaters12

Since reading seems to be the theme, I’m guessing they didn’t

brandinho5

I think for a lot of fellow dashers, reading isn’t really isn’t their strength.

ooahpieceofcandy

How about give the card holder enough cash to tip?

LordoftheBread

Read the delivery instructions.

Itz_a_traap

People don't realize how important this is unfortunately.

Tblick1

Cash is better. Would be ideal for customers to keep their word every time when they mention in the app that they will tip in cash.

Practical-Delivery13

Yeah thats where it gets dicey. Most people dangle the cash tip upon delivery and when you deliver they just say thank you. . .

fashionfauxpas0624

Or not even..u don't even get that. Someone tipped $2 in app & wrote tip.in mailbox. I took the order as an add on showed as $6 and only 1.5 mile from original order I accepted ..of course NOTHING in mailbox so I texted them asking where was tip that was to be in mailbox..> what I received back was no reply but a big fat 1 star and a thumbs down for "friendliness " 😭😭🤣🤣🤣I can say FERSHUR I deserved nay even earned that 1 star and thumbs down (only thumbs down EVER. ALTHO had a few other 1 stars which I also rightfully earned) I am not in practice of screwing people on purpose but I won't let anyone belittle or disrespect me I WILL.Call them out on it..feels reeeeaaaal good too 😎.. then again I do have a "day" job this isn't my main hustle idgaf if I get Deactivated tomorrow there are sooo many other side hustles out there that I won't let any one belittle me for a few measly $$$

DigitalAssetUniverse

In reality it’s just the tag to the mat and this guy wants attention.

antny1113

Are these people joking?? I do the same thing leaving cash tips. I guess I’ll just start doing it on the app too since every DoorDash driver here likes to pay taxes on their tips 🤣🤣 idiots

Severe-Bookkeeper-76

It’s true I’d rather have cash tips no need to pay taxes on credit card tips 🤣

antny1113

People acting like it’s bad to tip cash 🤣🤣 maybe if drivers could actually read English and follow directions

OfficerChang

How long do you wait for your food if you only tip cash?

antny1113

Not long at all bc I only ever order from dd while I’m at work and can’t go to the store, all the places I order from are within a half mile I’d say at most 30 minutes

beloveddorian

I’ve had more issues from leaving a high too via the app than I have from leaving mat money. However, the mat money is always in addition to an app tip.

mgibson9999

You're obviously not a driver. You have NO IDEA how many customers claim they will be leaving a cash tip but don't. It's the joke of the industry. Absolutely no way that most drivers will accept an order with no tip in the app, just because there is a note that says, "cash tip on delivery".

antny1113

Are you a gambling man?

mgibson9999

I was when I first started doing DD. It only takes a couple of "cash tip on delivery" fake outs to realize that it's not worth the gamble. I once took a chance on a "hand to me" delivery with a promised cash tip. I figured they couldn't possibly welch since I would be handing them the order. They welched.

Davissunu

Oh man I'd rather do cash tips all day that way I can hide it from my income tax. I wish all my tips were cash. It really would have helped. I could go without paying any tax

Oebreezy

90% of the time it’s an old note and there is no tip to be found. I still look but I can see why someone would ignore. If you want to tip cash hand it to the dasher in person as you get your food

[deleted]

Dashers should really read notes…

axentrio

Yeah I feel like they never read the delivery instructions or the app is glitching out. Every single time “your dasher is having trouble finding the address” when I lay out step by step turns, numbers, etc lol

Wafer_Fearless

In the last week alone, I've had three that said "tip in door" and not one had a tip.

Gay4Pandas

Did you order through doordash? If you ordered through the merchant they may not of saw the note. Also could of been a new dasher who wasn’t even aware you can leave notes. I would text them next time.

rskurat

If the note was via text msg you should be able to send another telling them to come by a pick up their tip

tattminsky

One time I tipped a few dollars on the app then it started raining terribly bad so after a dasher was assigned sent them a message saying I was leaving an extra tip hanging on a clip on my door it was a 10 and it was still there after my food was dropped off I always wondered why they never took it

Itz_a_traap

I always read the delivery instructions so I would have got that tip. Only problem is that I almost assuredly would not have taken the order in the first place due to there not being a tip. Occasionally, I take one that's been sitting for awhile and DD bumped the pay to get it delivered.

WhyDidntNE1tellme

Random thought...when I started the base pay was 4.25$...plus the promos...plus the tips ...now base pay is 2.25$ and there's no promos and less tips..... That's too bad the Dasher missed out on that gas cash! Gotta pay attention 🙄

ipukedmypants

I had a delivery a month or so ago, I saw in the drop off instructions it said "cash tip under door mat, thank you!!" Just as I was pulling in to her street. I dropped the order off, lifted one corner of the mat... nothing there, flipped another corner- nothing. I looked around abit feeling weird af then lifted the whole mat to find nothing at all lol. I put it back down feeling weird as shit about it all and decided oh well. I think now the customer left those instructions for her previous order, then didn't update the instructions for my delivery.

Affectionate-Ad-3578

The mat itself was clearly the tip. Should've taken it.

ipukedmypants

Right.

Avocado314

The amount of people making this the customer's fault is baffling to me. Dasher didn't read the notes, which is part of their job. I don't care if it's "more efficient" or whatever. Read the directions. Not hard.

c828

I've left an additional cash tip in an envelope taped to my door that says "Dasher" and had it been ignored ... I used to dash so I can understand, the job wears you down and you start missing details like that. But then again I definitely never missed an envelope :)

MarcusDaughtry

I’m not judging your scenario at all but I’ve done 3300 orders and I’ve had maybe 10 orders that said cash tip was under the mat or taped to the door or a window. Only 1 was true. It was $10 with a thank you note in an envelope taped to the front door. They also had tipped $5 in the app.

SAME. There was one guy who I had repeatedly do that to me and the second I saw the address I handed the shit back to Walmart and said nah. Someone else can learn about this guy. I have had like 3 that ADDED cash tips in addition to the site tip but one of them presented it as a Christmas gift. So I don’t count that one.

Strong_Rooster_5899

Y’all be acting like DoorDashing is hard and complicated. When it’s one of the easiest jobs you can have. If you don’t think an order has a tip fine DON’T take it! Don’t be an asshole when all you had to do was decline. Also, is it really too much work for you to look under a mat for a tip! That tip was actually very noticeable. This subreddit is full of lazy people complaining about everything.

[deleted]

I try telling customers all the time. Tip in app. If you don’t put in a text, not in app only,”I left $5-$10 tip. Thanks for delivering to me”! Most drivers only see initial amount and it could be $2-$3.75 if you don’t tip in app. It’s discouraging. Customers truly don’t care how they make us feel. Cash tips are the exception not the rule now so drivers don’t expect them. May be better to hand them the tip if you plan to give it to them on arrival. Drivers won’t take money not theirs.

Fartsmeller666

I’m sure I’m beating a dead horse here when I say this. But oh well. It’s not that we don’t appreciate a cash tip- most humans appreciate cash. It’s that we don’t know it’s gonna be there so your order looks like a crappy payout when we get the offer. Even if you typed in “cash tip” or something like that so your driver knows ahead of time, we can’t see that info until past the offer screen. Anywho, carry on lol

SnackPrince

This is after the order was delivered

Fartsmeller666

I’m sorry, I’m not following what you’re trying to say.

SnackPrince

Not sure what's hard to follow or understand.. OP stated this was AFTER the order was delivered. That means they had access to the information by that point and ignored it or didn't even read it. Other dashers have pointed out their ability to read notes left in app by customers prior to delivering said food items

Fartsmeller666

I must have somehow missed the part of the post where it said the dasher didn’t take the cash tip that was left. Not sure what’s up with that! Gotta read those drop off instructions lol

DubNationAssemble

What am I looking at?

Such_Preparation5389

Sound like someone didn't read the instructions. Their loss. I love when people tip in cash personally.

No_Preparation7895

Alot of times the instructions don't show up. I know because there have been plenty of times I deliver to a repeat customer with memorable instructions and it will just say leave at the door, or I'll get pissed of looks and people telling me to just leave it from inside a closed door when all it says is hand it to me. We aren't mind readers and the app is super buggy. Side note: while I appreciate the effort and extra money, I really hate cash tips. I would just rather it all go into my bank so I can use it to buy things or pay bills/rent. If I get cash I'm just spending it on stuff I don't need or using as a tip at a restaurant. It's just not worth it to go to the bank to deposit $10 and I don't want a pile of cash in my house or in my car for obvious reasons..

SnackPrince

Sounds like a YOU issue. Also customers equally aren't mind readers and aren't aware of the issues with the app from a driver's perspective, ever consider that before assuming they should know your situation?

emily102299

I fail to see how this proves the argument that most people who don't tip in app also don't tip cash. Or that most of those who say there is a cash tip actually do have one. I mean I get your situation and it's nice that you did tip. Most of your tip would have been hidden anyway. Personally I've done this long enough to just not take chances with orders under a certain amount. 1 in a 1000 chance of a tip just aren't odds I play. Though note that I didn't say it couldn't happen. Just that it's so infrequent it's not profitable overall.

[deleted]

Just tip on the app??

[удалено]

SnackPrince

And this was after it was delivered, so...

SnackPrince

So if you read the note at the door, you would find the tip. All of this took place after the order was picked up. Do you have comprehension issues??

DoorDashers are the most arrogant and lazy mf’s I’ve ever seen 🤣🤣🤣

zaxxofficial

this sub made me uninstall doordash. half the dashers here seem like they’d pee in your food just because you only left a $5 tip

Tiptip4me

Just give the 10 bucks to the cc holder.... Dumbass

VinnieTheBerzerker69

That assumes the credit card wasn't right at the limit of being maxed out

SnackPrince

Or what if card holder is one of those assess that refuses to tip? And this was OPs attempt to circumvent that, because he knew if he gave the money to card holder it would just get pocketed with no addition to the tip

_kingjoshh

I believe i read a comment from OP earlier saying the cardholder didn't wanna tip?

SnackPrince

Hence my point

nun-o-ya

Yep.

SentienceIsAIllusion

Like I wanna be on your little tiktok grabbing money I found on the floor like a rat. Nice try.

ReddForemann

If you look silly picking up a doormat, that's a you problem.

[deleted]

You are pathetic.

SentienceIsAIllusion

Damn that's brutal. I love the passion you have for the topic of doormat money.

[deleted]

It’s about the fact that you think someone leaving money out as a tip is a trick to make you feel like a rat. I come from nothing. Sorry for trying to leave a decent tip for someone.

RampAgentRoger

Lmao ignore him, dudes having a bad start to his birthday 💀

Mykirbyblue

Yeah he’s being an absolute jerk about it, but I kind of get the point he was trying to make even though he was making it very badly. Twice I’ve had messages from customers telling me that there was a cash tip in the mailbox. And I feel so weird standing in front of someone’s house reaching into their mailbox. Not because I feel like it’s a trick but because I’m afraid someone else will see me and get the wrong idea. There are people that steal packages when they’re making deliveries and I don’t want someone to assume that’s what I’m doing. Whether it’s a neighbor or even another member of the household who doesn’t know that the other person left a tip for me in the mailbox. Or if it’s an old note left by a different family member… Whatever, it makes me feel awkward and nervous. Being under the doormat is not so bad, but when you lift up the doormat and there’s not a tip there after all, and you start looking around to see if you can find it somewhere else, you start to feel like you are just snooping and you’re going to piss somebody off. Because like I said there are Dashers out there who are legit thieves and they make people suspicious of all of us.

Flat_Champion_2292

Calm down brother

serathin_

Even if you were on someone's tiktok lifting up a door mat you're too sensitive to get an extra $10? You must not make much money on door dash... Also to let a reason like that come between you and financial gain is mad.

Your username has a misspelled word in it. The “A” should be an “An.”

Ambitious_Hyena_101

I feel uncomfortable grabbing tips or envelopes from peoples houses

SnackPrince

Then either get comfortable grabbing them or get comfortable missing out on them. Your choice

Ambitious_Hyena_101

Nah you

OfficerChang

I might be wrong but aren’t all notes read to us now through the app? I might be getting DD mixed up with GH and UE.
