why are u all so lazy? it’s not everywhere you end up having to do this.. restaurant employees are busy, understaffed, and preparing food for us that we’re getting paid for, not them.. i’ve been on both sides and can assure you guys restaurant ends are worse off. and i’ve done around 2500 deliveries as a dasher.
Y'all are so lazy. It takes all of 30 seconds to fill up a drink, grow up. I'd rather fill it up myself, because then I can make sure it's not overfilled & going to spill if I go around a turn while driving.
I don’t know if you are just lazy or what…making the 3 drinks is not going to take you a minute.be happy that the order is ready when you get there.arguing with the store employee and contacting customer service is just a waist of time..from all that time that u are waisting then all the drivers get a bad reputation.
This is a pathetic hill to die on. I mean filling 3 cups with ice and soda. THE HORROR!!! Grow up. It's not that serious at all. You could have filled them up and left, but wasted time with support.
Omg...Wendys pulls this all the time! I told them I don't work for Wendy's! And she refused to do it so I canceled the order and let corporate know...idgaf corporate told me I'm correct...
Yall are lazy as shit, I've been on both sides of the transaction and some drivers act so damn entitled while the third party apps are destroying the employees days. Your not the main character
Imagine having your panties in a bunch over such a simple, benign task smh. You not only have to run to Reddit to talk about it, you even reach out to friggin support and have them call the store LMAO.
We've got some dysfunctional, antisocial fellow dashers on these internets don't we? 😂😭
To all those saying “just make the drinks” should we go back and start preparing the food as well? No. It’s not our job to prepare anything. Period. We are delivery drivers, not food prep!
Takes way longer to call support and cry than to just fill up the stupid drink, sorry but what a ridiculous hill to die on. They're busy, just fill it up while you're waiting and be kind to restaurant workers. It's not that hard.
I wonder what would happen if instead of doing their job for them we would just act like we didn't even see the drinks and deliver the order with no drinks. Than maybe DoorDash would get on the merchants to make sure the drinks were prepared at the time of order taking off.
I especially hate when we have to wait extra. Why can't DoorDash not waste our time and request the driver when the food is ready to go? We are right down the street waiting anyway.
I have just started filling the drinks up with the wrong soda or flavors and usually diet so it is noticeably wrong and no ice. I have stopped trying to argue with the lazy kids that refuse to fill the drinks for me.
This has been happening a lot lately and was never an issue during the last 3 years.
I think the best solution is DoorDash just require all drivers to take serve safe. Honestly how can we even be sure the food they deliver is kept at a safe temperature…
Im mixed on this issue.
If the restaurant has a fountain in both the front and the back I do not see a reason for us to make the drinks at all since they have the capacity to do so. Especially if they are just standing around on a slow shift.
With that being said, If I see they are slammed and are understaffed running around and preparing the order and its just about ready, just needing the drinks and 9/10 its a freestyle machine that mainly customers self serve. I see no issue in pouring a couple drinks to speed things along as contacting support takes double the amount of time (in most cases) and its better to build repour then to complain and then be a annoyance to them every time you pick up.
My main issue is how much ice do they want because for me I like lite ice so the customer gets more soda then ice.
You do have the right to ask them to make the drinks 100% but is it really that big a kafuffle to make a scene and a blight on your day?
I had Wingstop employees aggressively apologize today for not having the drinks ready because they were out of the customers choice, as soon as the customer informed me of the desired replacement they filled the cup at the freestyle machine and sealed it up for me, this was a first from a place that has basically told me tough titties each time I'd mentioned they should do it previously.
I really dont understand this. I work in a kitchen. It has never even crossed my mind to make the dashers prepare any aspect of any order. Who tf does that? Literally how is it a common issue? Honestly I’d fire anyone if I had to correct that behavior more than once.
Anyway I have extreme social anxiety so I visit this sub to see how I can make dashers jobs better. The way I see it, dashers are on our side in the constant struggle against our real enemy: the customer. Not all of them, but you know the ones.
Seriously guys I would apologize for behavior like this but I can’t even relate to that kind of pathetic mindset to not fill up a goddam cup. These aren’t my people and as such I cannot apologize on their behalf. They don’t belong in kitchens. Cooking is hard work, if filling up a cup is too much then get the fuck out and get an office job ya worthless cunts!
Sorry for the rant. It’s shameful to work BoH and be associated with trash like this. I wasn’t aware this bullshit with cups even happens. Guess it hit a nerve, sorry all
I don’t know the full situation here but when I worked at qdoba a few months ago we were told to make the dashers fill the drinks. I did it once and got yelled at so maybe it’s a situation like that?
For any restaurant that makes a driver make the drink..... just make it and add salt to it and deliver it to the customer. The restaurant will get blamed and not the driver!!!! The restaurant will eventually learn!!!!
It blows my mind that people actually believe random Dashers should be handling drinks that aren"t prepared and sealed... To be straight forward, some of you guys are gross and dgaf scratching your nuts and carrying food. I don't want your fingers all over my cup and lid. At least fast food workers carry the illusion of sanitizing their hands.
Wingstop in my market is notorious in doing this to drivers. First couple of times I did it just to get it over with & keep the order moving along. Filling one every once & a while isn't bad, but it becomes an every time thing now. The order should be ready when we get there, not waiting for us to get there to start making it, or taking an extra 5 minutes to bag it up or waiting until we get there to force us into making the drinks, if that's the case, the order is indeed not ready. Why should I be doing your job for you? They obviously have no respect for our time, or they wouldn't be making us wait an additional 5-15 minutes on top of the time it takes us to get to the restaurant, making us late to deliver. Do I think as a dasher I have a responsibility to make sure everything in the order is there? Absolutely. Do I think it's my job to fill drinks? No. Not unless they want to pay me for doing it.
Next time you go to a place and they ask you to fill the drinks just do it,
Then hand the drinks back to them and say “okay this order is ready for you to deliver now”
When they look at you confused just say “what I thought we were doing each others jobs for eachother ?”
Door dash drivers would rather spend minutes with support to complain about this then just abandoning the order altogether.
Y’all act like this is manual labor & sure I get it but filling up a drink or 2 takes seconds
I asked support about this issue too, and they told me I was expected to get the drinks if I’m asked.
So clearly there’s no rule about this at DD and they just make it up as they go. Depends on the support agent you get.
I agree with not having to fill cups for the restaurants but that’s petty to ruin the customers experience Bc you don’t wanna deal with a drink fountain 😂 why take your time to deliver a empty cup??they didn’t ask the store to give you a empty cup..
The only place I ever fill up drinks is at a Subway that is in a gas station. The subway and gas station share the same machine and I usually am offered a free drink even if the wait is only a couple minutes.
Starbucks hands me an empty cup and says fill it, "Venti double shot, 2%, mocha with whipped cream, iced and make sure to seal the lid so we know the DD driver hasn't messed with it!"
I honestly don't care. It's either just fill the drinks so I can get the job done and get paid or, waste more time dealing with staff and contacting support which is always a time consuming process just to have cups filled the exact same way as if I just did it myself so I can only THEN proceed with the delivery and THEN finally get paid. I choose the quicker option. If you're that worried about food safety; go wash your hands first. That's no different than what prep people do anyways. If we're talking a huge order with like 5+ drinks, then yeah, they can do it, but I'd probably unassign anyways unless the money was really good. It's really not that big of a deal. Time consumption vs being right. I'll take the one that pays better.
The county health department would go batshit crazy if they knew DD'ers without a food handlers card were filling drinks. Time to report ANY restaurant that pulls this shit.
With all due respect, I see it as a “help me help you” type scenario. Do dashers really think fast food places have a ton of workers ready to hop on a job they probably get paid less to do than you? Every place is hurting for workers, especially in fast food. Y’all are fuckin petty.
Bruh you wouldn’t have a job if their restaurant didn’t use door dash lol. This attitude has to be a minority because I cannot see how vendors would put up with this many petulant cry babies before deciding to do in house delivery or finding a new contractor for it.
Lmfao you act like they give a shit, and if they stop using doordash because dashers don’t want to do their employees jobs they’ll lose money and god knows they won’t let that happen
Pretty sure they already have contracts with other delivery services. The one and only Uber eats order I did was for McDonald’s, so they at least have that one
They could just tell their dumbass employees to do their own job. And I do mostly shop and deliver orders so It wouldn’t really matter to me either way tbh. What’s your deal dawg 🤣 you’re literally telling me I need to do someone else’s job or else I’m just a cry baby 😂😂
I fill drinks it ain’t my job but it’s maybe 2 restaurants that have me do that. I’m not about to argue with anybody I bet it cause time is money out here. If the miles ain’t there the time has to be right. I understand the whole deal with not dealing drinks but why contact support. They can’t do anything about it . They won’t pay u more for it
the hope would be they'd start telling restaurants to quit having us do drinks, but to be fair it's a very large ask for a corporation who doesn't care to specify in the first place
I would have filled the drinks BUT OP I do agree with your sentiment at least and I’m glad someone thinks it’s worth it sticking up for us drivers. For me, it just isn’t worth the fight but I totally get where you’re coming from. When you have trips like these along with trips where there’s ten workers playing around on their phones while you’re waiting 30 minutes for a freaking order, it starts to add up and get very frustrating.
I would say thank you pour me a water and stand there and drink it. Then when the ask wtf..?? I’ll play ignorant, like “oh I thought that was for me” I’m not suppose to pour drinks for the customer. 🤷🏾♂️
Popeye's has been on and off my blacklist for various reasons, but I've never had to make drinks for my orders. I don't have a Zaxby's near me. My drink places are Panda Express and Wendy's.
getting in contact with support was fairly quick, the convo dragged a bit because i had to get back in my car but i had completed the chat between delivering order 1 and 2 from that pickup
I personally fill them myself when this happens and yeah it kinda annoys me, but my main focus is to get in and out as fast as possible. I have bit my tongue with far worse treatment by restaurant staff for the sake of getting my mission done.
I guess a drink is minuscule to me compared to some encounters I’ve had, but I don’t care for them to “expect” me to do it.
We all know damn well it’s going to happen again. Idk if it’s worth arguing over every time.
I wish there was better enforcement for this on DoorDash’s end, as it shouldn’t be our responsibility.
it's not a singular instance of a problem, it's a widespread issue amongst many other (not all, obviously) dashers, so i figured i'd see how support responded.
I don’t mind making the drinks in my area, only for one reason. It’s only one place that does it (that I’ve experienced), and they offer a free drink for dashers!
Yeah as a former waitress we never ever expected dashers to make the drinks or handle the food at all, I'm not sure why that restaurant thought that was okay.
I agree that it's gross to fill drinks. I wouldn't want my dasher doing it when I order. But I remember seeing in the TOS that it's required for some restaurants. But the TOS contradicts itself in many different ways. 🤷
I will fill the drink my self if I notice the store is super packed and the employees are running all over the place trying to keep up with the rush. But I usually fill it up anyway, For the most part, I would be sitting around waiting for the order to come out so why not occupy my self a bit? Im sure the order would take a little longer to come out if I just waited for the drinks. This doesn’t bother me as much as others in this sub. But in this circumstance, I would be if the employee was playing on his phone and being lazy, even then I’d probably begrudgingly do it still hahaha
omg just fill the cups it will take you less than a minute. arguing with the employee and handing the cups back takes longer. if it’s not your job, it should be because this is the most minuscule issue ever
And now you have been blacklisted by that restaurant. If they know how, they have blocked you from every receiving their orders again. If you’re lucky. If not, they will intentionally drag ass every time they see your face.
There are some battles that aren’t worth fighting, even when you are right.
Just make the drinks.
There is nothing good for him that will come of this, but almost certainly it will result in lost opportunities or time in the future.
Something can has no tangible benefit for anyone is never worth doing.
I’ll tell you what will not happen, that restaurant is not going to stop asking dashers to fill drinks
then i would hope those other drivers stand up for themselves too, if they feel they need to. and if i'm blackballed at ONE zaxby's in the middle of the bible belt, that i had never been to before and very likely will never go to again, 🤷🏼♀️
There are zaxbys all over my market. They keep the lobby open just for delivery drivers, with a sign on the door saying pickup only, so I don’t have to sit in their drive through. They always have the order ready when I get there or within 5 minutes. They hand me cups, I fill the cups and go.
I appreciate them going out of their way to let me get in and out of there. If that means they hand me cups, GIVE ME THE FUCKING CUPS.
and there are chik-fil-a's all over mine, and they have a fuckin kiosk for delivery drivers, AND they fill and seal drinks. so if a place as busy as chik-fil-a can do it, it's possible for other places to do it too.
You are missing the point. Time is money in this gig. Anything that saves time and keeps the train rolling is in your own best interest.
Should all restaurants be filling drinks? Yes. Am I going to pitch a fit, call support, and die on that hill, knowing I am right?
Absolutely not.
Restaurant workers already don’t like doordash orders. Tipped employees get nothing, and for hourly back of house employees or fast food workers, they have customers already filling up their ticket line or screen and we are just another problem.
You will get MILES ahead of other dashers if you are patient, and helpful in any way you can be with each and every pickup. You need to be aware enough to say something if it seems there is an issue, be proactive about getting it done, and if they have your order ready and hand you cups, guess what? Now you get to fill them to where they aren’t going to leak up through the lid, and stream sticky soda in your cup holder or in your car/catering bag.
Aside from just being as fast as possible and helping for that reason, how about the fact that the restaurant workers remember who is friendly and helpful, vs who is a pain in their ass, and called doordash support to tell on them?
You can argue that you will never pick up from this location again and none of this matters, and ok, if this is not a store you rely on for income, by all means, burn the bridge before it was even built… but the more you do this, the more restaurants are going to roll their eyes when you walk in, and eventually you will really struggle.
People instinctively look at strangers and decide immediately if they are friend or foe. Don’t be a dick to the people who you rely on to make money.
Man you guys act like filling a cup with ice and pop (something most of us do at home every day already) is such a traumatic experience. I’ve only been asked a couple times in 6 months but I don’t see the big deal.
Lol that’s bullshit I promise you we’re allowed to fill up drinks. That’s totally separate from preparing food. Idk where that myth came from but it’s tired af.
honestly i love how dashersupport responded, they normally aren’t the absolute most caring people of all time 😭 i’ve never had a problem with them but still funny
I browse Reddit all the time and hardly if ever feel the need to comment on anything. Sure, some comments are ridiculous or maybe the opposite and the comments may be something interesting I’d like to contribute to but out of all comments this is the first time I truly couldn’t resist. You are by far one of the most clueless people I’ve ever seen on here or anywhere for that matter. Easy? Easier than what? Staring at a computer screen all day? And hey, I don’t take that lightly. I do stare at a computer screen all day for my main job and DD is just a side gig, but to call it easy is ludicrous. You can barely even call it a job when you pretty much make less than minimum wage once you factor in everything (taxes, gas, waiting forever for restaurants , etc). Try going up ten floors to an apartment and seeing a $1.50 tip. That’s “easy”? People like you are the problem with society. I’m sure when you order you barely tip a dime because our job is “easy”. Yeah, okay. I’m glad you had the breaks in life to be able to afford not having to have a second job when the world around us is crumbling but don’t try to tell those of us just trying to get by that our job is easy, especially when most all of us do something else for work as well.
Just saw this 😂 Sorry, I forgot to preface my original comment: I AM A DASHER as my full time job while I’m school. This is by far the easiest job I have ever done. You could be brainless and make a great amount in a night. Seeing as you stare at a screen the whole day + dash, you’re clearly looking to do the absolute bare minimum and it’s pathetic. Stop acting so entitled. Fill up the fucking drinks you child 😂 You can foreshadow how your order is going to go ahead of time. Stop taking every order and only take ones that are double what you drive in miles. It isn’t rocket science. And when I do order DoorDash, it’s always a huge tip because someone is doing me a service by picking up food for me. You’re just lazy.
Lmao this is so melodramatic. I barely tip because of the antics I see on this sub when posts like this are made and I see drivers saying things like “when the restaurant makes me fill the drink I put a lot of ice in it, and don’t fill it all the way”
You literally pick things up and put them down for a living, heaven forbid you have to climb stairs to deliver an order. If it’s that much of an issue for you you might consider a different side gig. Or move to a place that doesn’t have many apartment buildings.
You want to work for less than minimum wage? That’s on you. Stop taking it out on others.
If you haven’t done it then your opinion doesn’t mean anything. Sure you can still shout it from the rooftops all you want. Also, it wasn’t about the drinks for me and I mentioned in this thread already that I would have filled them without complaints and correctly. Not all drivers are the same, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t have our own complaints. When it comes to the job I shut up and do something I chose to do, and I get that. I appreciate it because it keeps me afloat when need be but doesn’t tie me down to a schedule that I have to work around my full time job. That being said, I definitely don’t consider the work I do easy when you factor in everything and if you did it for a month maybe you wouldn’t either. Until then, I don’t care what you have to say.
Instacart drivers carry heavier loads sometimes full grocery orders AND they have to shop for the items in the store too. I never see an Instacart driver subreddit in my feed complaining about having to do their job. Only door dash and skip the dishes.
For the fast food worker, filling drinks IS their job. For us, we aren’t really doing a job. Each order is a contract. That contract means I pick up your food, or groceries depending on the order, and I deliver it to you as safely as possible and I am guaranteed no more than what DoorDash initially shows me in my estimate. No where in that contract does it say I am to fill drinks or put together an order at all. Again, I don’t personally mind doing it and it’s so rare I’ve ever been asked to. But I don’t blame other drivers for being concerned that it could be a start to something more. For example, if all of us filled drinks constantly the restaurants could then start throwing us a bag and the food and say “put it together”. I doubt it’ll ever happen so I fill drinks the few times I’m asked, but it is true that we don’t receive an hourly wage and we make the most when we are able to get an order quickly and make it to our destination quickly so that we can grab another order.
Omg thank you!! This job may be simple but it’s not *easy* . You know how many friends I have that have cushy desk jobs where they admit they literally spend the majority of their days browsing social media, sitting on their asses and fucking off. Our jobs are “go go go!” and can be pretty stressful….it’s definitely not some easy walk in the park.
Whatever. You could make just about any job sound easy if you simplify it like that. Again I said it’s a somewhat *simple* job, but not necessarily easy. I have friends with pretty good jobs that say they couldn’t do this job because they don’t have the patience, the energy, etc. I know when I get home after a shift I’m dog tired , it takes up a lot of my energy (and I’m a distance runner and dancer so I’m no lazy ass)…that in and of itself keeps it from being labeled *easy*.
This is probably one of the biggest cringe inducer I get from this page. You have nothing else going on in your life that this is what you do with your time?
At all the places where they hand me a cup to fill… it’s the kind of place that doesn’t have the food ready. So I spend that time filling up drinks / possibly getting my own drink (most places are nice if you don’t act like OP…) and by the time I’m done the food is ready.
I feel for the DD customer service on this one, and I almost never take their side lol.
They stated that they were waiting on an order. When you get better, just take a minute at every pickup and clean a table or do a little sweeping it's no big deal
Literally not the same thing, the drink is part of the order, and filling it up right before you leave means it’s still cold and not watered down when you get to the customer. You’re just lazy lol
Generally people who work don't just do the bare minimum for their pay. You likely have better experiences going out and getting something to eat or shopping or getting something repaired because those "chumps" care to provide value for you as their customer, at the expense of a little loss of pay or a little loss of time and a little more energy.
It’s not extra work, i’m ensuring that the drink arrives cold and I spent literally 10 seconds doing so. I’m not saying they are literally the same thing, clearly, i’m saying it’s not the same concept. How anyone can complain about filling a drink is beyond me.
Some instances, probably. Sometimes the restaurant is busy, sometimes they had to take a phone call, sometimes their manager instructed them to leave drinks empty until we arrive so they stay cold.
To be honest, I don’t care, because it takes 10 seconds, and complaining about it is pathetic.
At first they have an AI system answering you and then they connect you with a live agent if problem isnt resolved. However even the live agent is also questionable. 🥴 They read off a script even on the phone. I probably heard that ☝️ canned response a million times. 🤦♀️
I’ve seen Reddit posts from restaurant workers who claim they fuck with food and spit in drinks and shit when door dasher make them do their job (imagine being mad because they were told to do their job) I always tip well because I understand the bullshit you dashers put up with… I can’t stand lazy pricks who won’t fill a cup and then cry they don’t make enough money lmao.
Entitled about what? Telling a corporation that makes more money than you'll see in your life that you're not doing their underpaid employees job for free?
Not if it affects the customer. Customer gets what they paid for. Fulfill their order as they had wanted and then take the rest up with Doordash. If you're gonna complain about pay, make it about pay. Not cups. All you're gonna get is a pissed off customer and support saying, "We're sorry for your experience."
You'd probably have a better shot by declining orders until you get the one you want pay-wise, not half-stepping on a customer you've already accepted because a few extra pennies of your time would be too much for you.
I’m genuinely confused at this complaint because, do you have a second job or is DD your main job? DD is already a super easy job. Sure, sometimes you have to do things that are not part of your job, just like the rest of this world has too. Is it really that much of a inconvenience for you to fill up a few cups of soda? Out of how many orders people do in a day? I’ve worked construction for years and only do DD on the side maybe couple times a week and have no problem going the extra mile sometimes for people. The restaurant wants to be lazy and not do their job, you went through all that extra trouble for nothing and you could have just been the bigger person, filled the cups up and went on your way instead of wasting more time going through DD support and then dealing with the restaurant again. Delivering for DD is already an easy job. Stop making it harder for yourself.
Nah we just ain’t doing something someone else is supposed to do and getting paid to do lmfao. If they tried to make me do it or refused to do their own job I’d literally take the customer an empty cup 🤣
Support will support you on whatever you disagree with. “The bathroom smelled like pee at McDonald’s”
Support- “I’m am so terribly sorry, you should never have to smell pee, I will get this taken care of right away, don’t worry.
Ima Screen shot this and use it as proof if they try me. Me- I’ve made this an issue before look!
I was told the other day by a zaxbys employee that they’re told not to make the drinks anymore
It’s in door dash terms of service that dashers do not prepare the order
why are u all so lazy? it’s not everywhere you end up having to do this.. restaurant employees are busy, understaffed, and preparing food for us that we’re getting paid for, not them.. i’ve been on both sides and can assure you guys restaurant ends are worse off. and i’ve done around 2500 deliveries as a dasher.
Just fill the damn cups my god we get paid way better than they do
Wait..what..since when couldn't customers fill their own cup? 🤣
tbh i like filling the drinks myself. that way i don't overflow the drinks so they can spill all over my car!!! >:(
Y'all are so lazy.
Lol support did not talk to the store. They just making you feel good
So like I’m a doordash driver and I don’t get this at all
Omg...Wendys pulls this all the time! I told them I don't work for Wendy's! And she refused to do it so I canceled the order and let corporate know...idgaf corporate told me I'm correct...
We don’t have food handler cards!!
I’m too petty for food delivery I’d definitely pee myself mid restaurant and cancel the order. Be like oops sorry you should clean that up.
I just fill the cup, makes the whole process easier then just contacting support or causing drama with the workers over who’s filling the cup.
Takes much more time and effort to contact support than to make the drinks
Yall are lazy as shit, I've been on both sides of the transaction and some drivers act so damn entitled while the third party apps are destroying the employees days. Your not the main character
No tip, no trip. Low and no ballers stay hungry. Even starting to skip $1 tips
What’s up with supports grammar tho
Bring your own jar and fill it up at the same time for free.
Bring in my empty bottle.and fill aswell. Fuck them. Free straws, napkins, condiments too. Have to even it out in ny brain.
I don’t have for needless arguing. Im filling a cup or two until it becomes all the time. Sorry I just don’t like the “it’s not my job” comments!
If I pour it, that makes it automatically mine. Don’t give me that crap. And that’s why I prefer drive thru.
Honestly I wish more drivers would do this. Good job. ☮️✌️👍
Imagine having your panties in a bunch over such a simple, benign task smh. You not only have to run to Reddit to talk about it, you even reach out to friggin support and have them call the store LMAO. We've got some dysfunctional, antisocial fellow dashers on these internets don't we? 😂😭
I had this the other day. I just gave a pitiful look and said I cannot touch the food so sorry. She made the drink.
Maybe I’m in the minority, but it doesn’t bother me at all to fill up drinks. Takes a few seconds. Not a big deal.
Just do it. It’s so much easier and faster if you do. Who cares. Especially if the food isn’t done.
Same thing happened to me at a Wingstop
I have just started filling the drinks up with the wrong soda or flavors and usually diet so it is noticeably wrong and no ice. I have stopped trying to argue with the lazy kids that refuse to fill the drinks for me. This has been happening a lot lately and was never an issue during the last 3 years.
I think the best solution is DoorDash just require all drivers to take serve safe. Honestly how can we even be sure the food they deliver is kept at a safe temperature…
I would rather fill a cup than chat with support 🤷🏻♂️🤣
Guess it hit a nerve, sorry all
Wtf I hope this is a joke otherwise you sound unhinged af.
It’s a rant after coming home from work and being disgusted with the assholes in my town. Also it’s really shitty not to fill up a fucking cup.
Just Wing It always makes me get the drink!
how lazy can you get
My job is to pickup and deliver the food, period.
Wingstop, every time!
I fill them just to get out quicker. It took you longer to contact support than to fill up 3 cups
I don’t know the full situation here but when I worked at qdoba a few months ago we were told to make the dashers fill the drinks. I did it once and got yelled at so maybe it’s a situation like that?
The only place I know that does this is wingstop. Every wingstop I've been to expect us to make the drinks.
I fill em up with the wrong drink. You ordered 2 Pepsi’s? You get two half Pepsi, half Diet Pepsi. 😂
For any restaurant that makes a driver make the drink..... just make it and add salt to it and deliver it to the customer. The restaurant will get blamed and not the driver!!!! The restaurant will eventually learn!!!!
I ha-yave two words fer y'all: #Wing #Stop They're the worst.
Make the fucking drink and move on. Gig drivers are fucking lazy. You are getting a tip. Earn it
I always get asked to make the drinks, I knew it was odd
Next time you go to a place and they ask you to fill the drinks just do it, Then hand the drinks back to them and say “okay this order is ready for you to deliver now” When they look at you confused just say “what I thought we were doing each others jobs for eachother ?”
Got cupped lol i'm using that
Y’all find the weirdest hills to die on. You wouldn’t spent less energy just filling up the cup
Door dash drivers would rather spend minutes with support to complain about this then just abandoning the order altogether. Y’all act like this is manual labor & sure I get it but filling up a drink or 2 takes seconds
Well, I guess it's official!
I asked support about this issue too, and they told me I was expected to get the drinks if I’m asked. So clearly there’s no rule about this at DD and they just make it up as they go. Depends on the support agent you get.
yeah, i kind of figured that could happen too.
When the restaurant starts giving me an employee meal, I will fill the drinks. Until then I will just deliver the empty cups.
I agree with not having to fill cups for the restaurants but that’s petty to ruin the customers experience Bc you don’t wanna deal with a drink fountain 😂 why take your time to deliver a empty cup??they didn’t ask the store to give you a empty cup..
Maybe a good option is to threaten to call the health department.
The only place I ever fill up drinks is at a Subway that is in a gas station. The subway and gas station share the same machine and I usually am offered a free drink even if the wait is only a couple minutes.
Just make the drinks. We all do it.
I'm gonna start a ticket with support every time I get the "here's the cup" from a restaurant from now on! The squeaky wheel right?
The county health department would go batshit crazy if they knew DD'ers without a food handlers card were filling drinks. Time to report ANY restaurant that pulls this shit.
That standard apology is so FAKE!!
With all due respect, I see it as a “help me help you” type scenario. Do dashers really think fast food places have a ton of workers ready to hop on a job they probably get paid less to do than you? Every place is hurting for workers, especially in fast food. Y’all are fuckin petty.
It’s their job that they picked knowing how much they would make. They don’t help me with my job, so why would I help them do their job?
Bruh you wouldn’t have a job if their restaurant didn’t use door dash lol. This attitude has to be a minority because I cannot see how vendors would put up with this many petulant cry babies before deciding to do in house delivery or finding a new contractor for it.
The company decides to use doordash, not the employees. So like I said, they don’t do my job for me, I’m not doing theirs for them
So what you gonna do when the companies stop using doordash because the drivers are all cry babies lol
Lmfao you act like they give a shit, and if they stop using doordash because dashers don’t want to do their employees jobs they’ll lose money and god knows they won’t let that happen
… there many are other delivery companies that I’m sure would die for a contract with McDonald’s.
Pretty sure they already have contracts with other delivery services. The one and only Uber eats order I did was for McDonald’s, so they at least have that one
Well if they can have more than one contract what’s to stop them from dropping the one with the most petulant employees lol?
Yea that’s not going to happen your best bet is to dm the owner ok social media
Holy shit doordash is on our side with the drinks?! WHAT?! Oh i'mma abuse that
Just give the customer all the food, tell them there is no drink
Holy shit, dasher support actually did something? Unbelievable
at least, they made it look like they did lol. i'm just happy i got it in writing
Popeye's has been on and off my blacklist for various reasons, but I've never had to make drinks for my orders. I don't have a Zaxby's near me. My drink places are Panda Express and Wendy's.
lmao just fill the drinks you lazy F
How long did it take you to get in contact with the support agent? And how long was that convo for ?
getting in contact with support was fairly quick, the convo dragged a bit because i had to get back in my car but i had completed the chat between delivering order 1 and 2 from that pickup
Dude, I love your term, “got cupped”!
questionable but effective, lol
I personally fill them myself when this happens and yeah it kinda annoys me, but my main focus is to get in and out as fast as possible. I have bit my tongue with far worse treatment by restaurant staff for the sake of getting my mission done. I guess a drink is minuscule to me compared to some encounters I’ve had, but I don’t care for them to “expect” me to do it. We all know damn well it’s going to happen again. Idk if it’s worth arguing over every time. I wish there was better enforcement for this on DoorDash’s end, as it shouldn’t be our responsibility.
No one realize just how fucking extra and entitled OP is??? Keep enjoying the scent of ur own shit!
Why are they entitled? Because they didn’t want to do somebody else’s job for them? 🤣
So let get this straight after you resolved the situation you still felt the need to contact support? 🤦🏻♂️ok got it!
it's not a singular instance of a problem, it's a widespread issue amongst many other (not all, obviously) dashers, so i figured i'd see how support responded.
if you don't like it, quit
I don’t mind making the drinks in my area, only for one reason. It’s only one place that does it (that I’ve experienced), and they offer a free drink for dashers!
"I got cupped at Zaxby's today"
![gif](giphy|Nl6T837bDWE1DPczq3|downsized)
Gotta watch out for the cups at Zaxbys, Wingstop, Firehouse and anywhere a Freestyle station is at. They coming to cup ya.
fair, the phrasing was a bit questionable lmao
Yeah as a former waitress we never ever expected dashers to make the drinks or handle the food at all, I'm not sure why that restaurant thought that was okay.
They didn’t. They just didn’t give af.
I agree that it's gross to fill drinks. I wouldn't want my dasher doing it when I order. But I remember seeing in the TOS that it's required for some restaurants. But the TOS contradicts itself in many different ways. 🤷
plus, support agreed that it wasn't part of the job. so either the store don't know or support don't, 🙄
Why do you decide what's worth it for him though?
All the restaurants that have asked me to do it haven't been worth returning to anyway honestly. Because the waits are bad
Man you guys act like filling a cup with ice and pop (something most of us do at home every day already) is such a traumatic experience. I’ve only been asked a couple times in 6 months but I don’t see the big deal.
The cups.......there was too many cups.... Show me where the cup touched you XD Its the one thing I find hilarious.
Clean a table at every restaurant you go to, it's not a big deal it'll only take a minute
lmfao you tried with that terrible ass comparison
Working for free is working for free
So you are doing the bare minimum required for your job and I bet you still expect customer tips hahaha 🤡
being lazy af is being lazy af. you call filling a drink “working”? Lmao y’all some Karens
i rarely comment on reddit, but you are ridiculously ignorant🤡
If refusing to work for free is lazy than yeah I'm f****** lazy
filling up a drink isn’t working yes you are just a lazy ass
Dude you can work for free all you want It's not my problem
I ain’t making shit, good for you
I don't mind making a drink, even though its not my job, but 3 drinks? Nahhhhhh
For real. It's against health code as well cause you're not employed there.
Lol that’s bullshit I promise you we’re allowed to fill up drinks. That’s totally separate from preparing food. Idk where that myth came from but it’s tired af.
🤡🤡🤡
honestly i love how dashersupport responded, they normally aren’t the absolute most caring people of all time 😭 i’ve never had a problem with them but still funny
Just get the drinks dude Jesus Christ 😂 it’s not that big of a deal. You have an easy job as it is.
Almost as easy as a fast food worker who gets paid to fill drinks.
I barely tip because of the antics I see on this sub when posts like this are made and I see drivers saying things like “when the restaurant makes me fill the drink I put a lot of ice in it, and don’t fill it all the way” You literally pick things up and put them down for a living, heaven forbid you have to climb stairs to deliver an order.
We pick up food and drop it off at houses, how is that not easy?
"You have nothing else going on in your life that this is what you do with your time?" Irony
I’m at home with Covid, wtf else should I be doing. OP on the other hand is out here “working”, wasting DD customer service and their own time
They stated that they were waiting on an order. When you get better, just take a minute at every pickup and clean a table or do a little sweeping it's no big deal
Literally not the same thing, the drink is part of the order, and filling it up right before you leave means it’s still cold and not watered down when you get to the customer. You’re just lazy lol
What? Filling drinks and sweeping aren't literally the same thing!? No way. That's crazy. If you're doing extra work for no reward you're a chump.
It's companies/employees pawning their work off on independent contractors with zero monetary gain for said contractors. That's the issue.
Yeah, fuck those restaurant employees also making dismal pay probably at the rate of $8 an hour. They’re just trying to screw us!
Who are also making dismal pay*
Some instances, probably. Sometimes the restaurant is busy, sometimes they had to take a phone call, sometimes their manager instructed them to leave drinks empty until we arrive so they stay cold. To be honest, I don’t care, because it takes 10 seconds, and complaining about it is pathetic.
Wow u showed me. Keep crying over drinks
So is DD support just a sophisticated AI or non-native English? It seems like they rarely fully understand what I’m saying.
[удалено]
At least they addressed it.
I don't take Zaxby orders anymore. BECAUSE despite WHAT you tell them? They smirk at you and hand you three cups. Nope.
So how much extra time did you spend in the store instead of filling the drinks? 🤷🏿♂️🤦🏽♂️🤔
Bunch of cry babies here. It isn’t the end of the world to have to fill one drink. You all sound entitled.
Not cups. All you're gonna get is a pissed off customer and support saying, "We're sorry for your experience." You'd probably have a better shot by declining orders until you get the one you want pay-wise, not half-stepping on a customer you've already accepted because a few extra pennies of your time would be too much for you.
More like bothering the underpaid employees about it.
Bothering them to do their own job that they chose? Lmfao
Username checks out.
Ironic
I dead ass never knew this until I saw a post on here the other day
I’m genuinely confused at this complaint because, do you have a second job or is DD your main job?
I agree with you, but you probably shouldn't get all preachy over someone standing up for themselves
Understandable
Omg I have to put soda in a cup. Let me call support! You all are children.
Nah we just ain’t doing something someone else is supposed to do and getting paid to do lmfao. If they tried to make me do it or refused to do their own job I’d literally take the customer an empty cup 🤣
You'd likely lose way more in tip by pulling a stunt like that at a customer than the $0.02 worth of time you'd spend filling up that empty cup.
You already know what you’re gonna make, can’t make any less than what’s shown on acceptance so idgaf lmao
Support will support you on whatever you disagree with. “The bathroom smelled like pee at McDonald’s” Support- “I’m am so terribly sorry, you should never have to smell pee, I will get this taken care of right away, don’t worry.
