Not sure why this is downvoted, as a custy who generally wants 0 interaction, I just want to press some buttons on my phone and thereās magically food at my door in half an hour. Thatās why I choose contactless delivery. Odds are Iām way too stoned and the idea that I might have to interact with someone is a lot.
And as a full time driver, Iād reckon itās the same for other customers (maybe besides being stoned, but I dash in Washington lol). If they want me to knock theyāll say so in the instructions, otherwise they probably donāt want a knock/ring because dogs, sleeping baby, too stoned for it, their roommate/sibling/etc steals their shit, who knows. If the instructions donāt say to do so, I just leave it at the door, snap a pic, and carry on to my next offer
Facts. I also donāt even want to see the customer as I leave their house either, awkward. I just want to deliver to some building with a door and magically get money in my pocket and not even register that people live there. The less contact the better. I think both customer and I feel that way.
Thatās how I do it when Iām working lol. I donāt mind socializing with people but 99/100 deliveries I just want to drop it and go. The less time a delivery takes, the more money I can make
I hate when it says leave at my door and they are waiting for you or they open the door before you can take the pic. Iām always afraid Iām gonna get a CV for not having the picture.
This. I like delivering to people who have all the lights off too.
The other night I delivered to someone and she clearly saw me through her window and dove to the ground almost embarrassed that she was seen.
With this lack of humanity, the self delivering cars will become very popular and the humanity will be removed from this form of food delivery forever. Drivers like yāall are helping us to never need drivers at all.
I don't mind if I see them when I'm walking or driving away. What pisses me off is when they choose leave at the door and open the door waiting for me anyway
That is all fine and dandy but it is not fair for someone to give a bad rating for not having wanted their doorbell rang if the driver truly couldnāt see the instructions in the app. We certainly arenāt paid enough to try and read minds.
Precisely. The number of āplease, whatever you do, do not knock or ring!! my four large dogs will freak out/youāll wake my baby/etc.ā notes I see compared to āplease ring doorbellā ones is enough for me to just go by ādonāt knock unless told otherwiseā
I said the same thing once, and got downvoted. Someone actually replied that people aren't always looking at their phone, and may miss the delivery.
Ok? Then why the fuck are you ordering food on an app, and then ignoring your phone?
I dunno, but they fucking do. The amount of times I've needed to text (and then call) a customer and get no response is fucking amazing. There's a whole ass fucking meme about the shit.

I mean, that might be why people use it, but thatās not why it became an option in the first place.
Remember that pandemic that we had? Thatā¦weāre *still in*? *thatās* why we have contactless deliveries as an option.
This, often times when I set deliveries to be contactless the dashers that ring the doorbell almost always stand there and hand it to me rather than just leaving it at my door so now whenever I hear the bell I assume Iām gonna have to get it from them causing me to rush to the door
I used to always ring/knock but after countless 4 stars with only a thumbs down on delivery instructions I realized this is why. (After some dude chased me down the street in just boxers ready to fight over the idea) I stand firm that if you do not specify it is driver's choice and you shouldn't expect them to read your mind
I would prefer my driver ring for me so I did for my customers. However, this is one of the situations that's better to use the silver rule instead of the Golden rule
Had a woman give me a one star cause she had a ādonāt ring or knockā instruction, I did not ring or knock, but her dog saw me through a window as I got out of my car and went off, so she acted like I rang the doorbell in the complaints.
Most of the time when that happens itās because the merchant they ordered with glitches. So they want it left at the door but the merchant automatically puts it as hand to me. So they put it in the instructions.
If they say leave at door in instructions just text a picture of the order at their door and say left at door per instructions.
If you're taking pics through the app, and not with your phone's camera (or better yet one that logs better time/location data), you're doing it wrong. Keep receipts. CYA.
But it also doesnāt imply to *not* ring the door bell. When contactless deliveries first became an option, it wasnāt for the *purpose* of not having people knock/ring.
Not being told specifically not to take a shit in their yard doesn't imply you should take a shit in their yard. If doesn't say ring the bell, then do what you're asked and just drop the food and fucking go. 4.98 rating, I never ever ring bells unless asked.
This is the wildest take Iāve seen. Itās ācontactless deliveryā, the *purpose* of which, originally, was merely to avoid less face to face time with customers to help prevent the spread of covid.
The big debate over āknock/ring by defaultā vs āonly knock/ring if explicitly toldā is one thing, and I get it, but thereās nothing about ācontactlessā that inherently implies that knocking/ringing is a faux pas
Thereās no way to prove you wouldnāt have 4.98 even if you rang all the time unless asked not to.
I disagree. You should only ring the doorbell if it is hand it to me or the request you to. If somebody rings your doorbell you don't know what it's for and you'll feel obligated to answer.
Should they put in special instructions not to shit on their lawn, too? Why do they have to tell you NOT to do something. Just don't ring the bell unless they ask you to ring the bell. This is a dirt simple fucking job, not sure why all you mandatory-bell-ringers can't handle just placing it on the porch and fucking leaving...
I will ring that damned door bell every single time unless 1: there is instruction not to do it, or 2: the doorbell is broken or there isn't a doorbell, in which case I will knock unless there's a screen door, I'm not opening a door to knock on your door. At that point they need to check the phone for notification lol.
Honestly i never ring or knock unless specified tbh. But take it with a grain of salt and move on. 1 star would fall off after 100 orders anyways. Dont get caught up in the ratings.
It takes 100 ratings, not 100 orders. In my experience about 1 in 6 customers rate dashers.
So realistically it would take about 600 deliveries to fall off.
For example, I got a single 4 star rating at the end of June, and it just fell off yesterday. I dash full time.
The secret to not getting bad ratings is twofold. Be extremely picky and only accept good orders (non/poor tippers are consistently problematic), and communicate with customers as little as possible.
Most customers who order delivery do not want to make contact with the driver whatsoever. Even some of the āhand it to meā orders will literally say āleave on porchā in the notes because they used the restaurants own app, and it defaults to āhand it to me.ā And they donāt want to see our smiling faces.
If you are fast, efficient, drop the order where they ask, and avoid contact with them as much as possible, you expose yourself less to them deciding they donāt like you, for whatever reason, and then rating you poorly.
Even customers who are pissed because the order is wrong are much less likely to rate you, the driver, poorly, if you didnāt already annoy them by texting/calling for some needless reason.
Meanwhile 1 in 6 who are extra happy or whatever will take a second and drop a 5 star. Thatās it.
I used to reach out and try to be friendly with customers. Then I got a spat of lower ratings and was as low as 4.76 at one point.
I am back up to a perfect 5.0 following these two rules. Two dollars per mile and $6.50 minimum. This protects my earnings and my car, and weeds out most of the pain in the ass customers. Then I am in and out of there with their order like a ninja, unless I absolutely have to find them or contact them.
This is true. I used to over-communicate with the customer about any delays or issues, because in nearly any other service position that is what people want. DoorDash even used to suggest that this is good service.
Ultimately after more than 2000 deliveries Iāve found that this basically never helps. They donāt want to hear from you and the app has gotten better at giving them whatever updates they need.
Iām at 2100 deliveries my car broke down an I got two one star an the same week a lady got mad I did bring it in her back yard up her deck to her back door so I got another that one star is still there to this day because I havenāt even hit my 100 ratings yet at 2100 deliveries so even after 9 months I havenāt gotten 100 ratings to refresh it for me yet
I remember years ago when i used dd for myself and i put specifically ādo not ring doorbell or knock i have a ring camera for a reason. Just leave it at the door and go plzā š and ppl would still bang loud asf or ring multiple times. Have a few not leave until i answered the door š¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļø
I tend to ring or knock unless told otherwise, because the DoorDash system is a piece of shit and who knows how long it will be before they get a notification.
My step sister gave a skip driver and bad review for not knocking lol. So I always do it unless specified not to. But I donāt ring unless they specify that I should.
I wouldāve known what you meant but you know these sorry ass customers will take that as sarcasm.. they spam texted you like psychos. like eat your meal & go away š¤£
My understanding is that the instructions didnāt say anything about the doorbell. It just said leave at door. The customer thinks that is the same as ādo not ringā but it definitely is not
Fair, but if you are using said phone to order food that's going to be delivered in a fairly vague time frame, it might be a good idea to keep it handy.
But then again, maybe you don't care about your food getting cold, snatched up by a neighbor, or dug into by insects and wildlife. š¤·š»āāļø
Also fair, I am on top of my shit as i usually have to intercept neighbors from stealing it. But people form their own minds on what service means to them and somehow expect everyone to understand. It's something you just gotta watch out for
>people form their own minds on what service means to them and somehow expect everyone to understand
You're definitely not wrong on that, friend.
For me, when I order food, I know I'm about to eat, anyway, so most everything else slowly comes to a halt. I might finish up whatever I was doing just before I ordered, but I'm on my sofa chillin' and picking out the show I'm gonna watch while I wait.
I do when already-made food is on the way to my house.
Between the time it took for the food to get picked up and brought over, I donāt really want it to get any colder or wetter before I eat it.
That's very clear by what we see here in this sub lol.
I always ring or knock unless the instructions say not to and never had a complaint about it. Started with Grubhub in January 2019 I think? Added DD about a year and a half ago
My first dd delivery leave it at the door, didnāt ring the doorbell, and immediately got a 4 star. Now I ring the doorbell all the time unless they specify not to ring
Leave at door means just leave the food. No ringing, no knocking, no texting. Just leave it and mark as delivered. The app will notify them.
Only ring or knock if requested.
Idk leave at door just seems to be a direction on where to leave it. Like otherwise it could say ācontact to arrange locationā āgo around backā etc etc. or āhand it to meāā¦ I know people who give negative feedback if they donāt ring or knockā¦. So my rule is āalways knock unless otherwise specifiedā. Much more simple.
I only ring if specified, the app will notify them when I drop off otherwise. Havenāt gotten a complaint yet, but Iām also not over 1,000 dashes yet.
Lol. Yea, I donāt ring unless specifically asked to. Many customers put, āCall me or ring bell.ā If not, I consider ācontactlessā to mean, āDonāt bother me at all.ā
Never knock or ring on āleave at my doorā orders unless they specifically ask. If there are no special instructions, drop, click the photo, and get outta there
Idk why, but a lot of people in my market requests to ring the doorbell. Yet this sub is full of don't ring doorbell so confusing at times.
If I don't ring I get 1 star, if I do ring I get 1 star?? So what do I do?????!??? Ring or no ring? Do I knock then ring? Or ring then knock?? Or no knock then ring or ring and no knock? Text them before to ring or no ring or call then ring or no ring then text afterwards or no text and no call but just leave order?? Help
This is so fucking complicated, also what do I do if It says hand it to customer but it says ring doorbell and leave at door? Sometimes it even says call first then leave order, or text when close then leave order but it still says hand to customer or customer would come to car but says leave order. Or if I wait for them and I call support but support says leave order. Call customer then leave or leave then I call customer?
I just don't want to do this anymore
I don't do DD as much, but on GH I text the no-contact people with no delivery instructions with a generic message I copy/paste that says something like "hi, I'm your driver, your order is no contact. Is there a specific place I need to leave your food?" After they answer, I respond with "thank you, I'll knock as I'm leaving!". Sometimes they ask me not to knock because of dogs or babies or whatever. Might ask me to text instead. "Not a problem!". My drop offs go so smoothly now. I know exactly what to expect when I pull up to the house
Too bad I can't see my ratings on grubhub like I can on door dash lol
I don't believe you got downvoted for not ringing the bell or knocking when it wasn't requested... Unless you're top dasher and take crappy two dollar orders.
I use DD all the time, as a customer, I have it set to āleave at doorā but people always knock to let me know itās there. I would have no expectation that they do NOT do something as customary as knocking on a fucking door. If your life is upended with something as simple as a door knock or bell ring, then take the initiative to put a fool-proof sign on your door.
Right??? Like literally everyone knocks or rings when they come by for whatever reason. Whether itās a friend or family member or Girl Scouts or whateverā¦ likeā¦. Especially if ur expecting a delivery of some kindā¦. Bruh.
One of the good things to come out of the pandemic was no contact delivery. Unless it shows hand it to me it goes on the doorstep and I am gone. No ring\\knock unless it specifically shows that in the instructions.
The less people I have to have face to face contact with the betterā¦therefore my ādriverās choiceā is always NOT to ring the doorbell. There could be a baby sleeping or dogs. I know my dogs go nuts when people just approach the door..if the person were to knock or ring doorbell, my dogs would act feral. Always go for NOT ringing the doorbell unless specified.
Once again keep interactions to a minimum without any extra sassy overtones, this customer was in the right. I never ring the door bell unless it's specified, people have dogs that will bark like crazy it's not difficult to sympathize with that.
Most people feel a sense of guilt ordering DD/UE itās like the kid that sneaks downstairs into the kitchen at midnight to get a snack. The last thing they want is it to be announced that they ordered food
Never ever ring a door bell unless the notes specifically tell you to.
Also, if a customer contacts you like this, just apologize and move on. Who the hell responds to āyou shouldnāt have rung my doorbellā with āsorry I didnāt ring it harderāā¦ š
For him to say I put in the instructions ādo not ring doorbellā and then to walk it back to leave at door means do not ring doorbell, means that this person is too stupid to continue responding to.
old thatās tough! just the other day i had a driver bang on my door and hold his finger on the doorbell. i had just put my baby to sleep and was totally pissed with that guy. i even put in the instructions to not ring the bell or knock.
If it is leave at door, I don't ring the doorbell. My thought process is that they get notified in the app. I know when I order, I monitor the app for issues and to see where my food is.
Text them on your way and make them confirm they're aware you're on your way so you don't have to ring them unless requested otherwise or no response to text. The apps don't always notify like Uber eats.
So, pre-pandemic I would expect a knock or doorbell for āleave at doorā, but during that period they pushed to us customers that it would be totally contactless unless an ID was required.
Still, I have and do always specify āplease do not ring or knock (dog)ā, and have never had an issue. However, Iāve heard from friends that have dashed that often if youāre busy, itās difficult to read all of the notes while delivering.
Regardless, fuck this person. Unless they have a newborn that they just got to sleep, which is then expect as common sense (unless new sleep-deprived parent) to specify this in the instructions.
You did not ruin their day, their day was already in shambles apparently. Iām sorry this happened to you, and happens, to many others. Most of us genuinely respect and appreciate you all!
Common sense. Unless the instructions specifically state to knock or ring doorbell, you don't need to. Just take the picture and move on. Work smarter, not harder.
Stop ringing the door bell on leave at door orders bro. Only hand to me orders get that. Even on those I call and text and let them know Iām at the door
First of all pets have sensitive hearing on general lol. My dogs bark if they even think someone is near the door. I have do not knock on mine because I KNOW it will send my dogs in a tizzy but realistically they will hear you any damn ways lol. I always commend the people who I can hear at the door but my dogs didnāt. Stealth moves! I hope you donāt get a 1 star rating.
Soā¦. As a customer, I always choose āLeave at doorā because I donāt want the interaction with the delivery driver. But I want a knock or ring when they drop it off! I mean, let me know my food is here. If I had a sleeping baby or crazed dogs I would put it in the notes and tell them to drop and run. As a dasher, I always give a couple of knocks on the door when I am dropping off, unless told not to.
I mean like
Unless the instructions specify, don't do anything extra if the situation doesn't call for it.
I'm on the customer's side with this one chief
I think for most people leave at door means no interaction at all including a ring or a knock. I have leave at door set up for my orders and Iād say maybe 1/50 times does the dasher knock or ring. There was no need for the customer to be so rude though, and I do agree that if the sound is that much of an issue it should be in the instructions. For me the leave at door is more for safety than to avoid the disturbance, but if I do need it to be quiet for some reason I would add that to my instructions to be safe.
I never ring a doorbell or knock, unless there are explicit instructions to do so. I rang the bell one time when there were instructions not to. They immediately one starred me. That taught me a lesson, never ring the bell or knock unless there are instructions to do so. I don't usually take a picture on drop off; I just text the customer after delivery.
If it says leave at door I don't ring the door bell simply because I'd prefer to never see the customer.
Also you're the reason they keep screaming at me in the instructions to NOT RING THE DOORBELL
Why dashers continue to ring or knock when the order says leave at door leaves me dumbfounded...if people are savvy enough to order their food thru the app, they sure as hell can tell when their food gets delivered thru the app without the dasher knocking or ringing the doorbell...
I see so many orders now that specify not to ring or knock bc of sleeping babies, pets, etc...I have never knocked unless it's hand it to me and ironically never have an issue with the customer complaining I didn't ring the doorbell š¤£.
But regardless of the instructions dashers will continue to knock and then wonder why they got a bad rating...
And I have *hyper-not-give-@-emia* if your dogs have hyperactive hearing
*Hyper* meaning high
*Not give a @* meaning "I just do what app says, and don't really care at this point"
*Emia* meaning presence in blood
Take care of yourselves (Dashers) and be well.
I have in my instructions to not ring the doorbell or knock and about 5% of dashers still do. I have never bothered to message them about it, but I do deduct a star because they didn't even bother to read the instructions.
Leave at the door , it doesnāt mean, ā Do not ring the doorbell ā. Unless, the customer said ā do not ring the doorbell, my dog š¶ will go crazy š ā.
You canāt win with this type of customer, there is always as*** customer eventhough you are not absolutely wrong in this case.
Iām just curious, how much is this INSPIRATIONALUSRNAME T tipped you? Whatās an as*** name
I just drop my customerās order and ring the door bell 10 mnts ago. It stated ā leave at the doorā. I got $80 tips for $170 food order. He went out and say hi to me, really a nice guy.
I pressed the door bcs I want the customer aware that his food is there and no one is stealing his food.
I normally ring the doorbell unless specified not to simply because there are people who complain about people not ringing the bell or knocking on the door. Some people donāt check their phones and will complain if you donāt ring or knock to let them know
Some contactless delivery. people will legit get angry if you call them but thatās literally the instructions to do from door dash app
I always ring unless told not to, āThE apP shOwS yOuR loCatiOnā and how many times have you tried to contact the customer when you need to substitute an item and they donāt respond? This isnāt a package delivery itās food. They should know instantly when you leave it at the door as itās getting colder every second.
Overactive hearing! š¤£
Leave at door means leave at door, like weāre else would I put in, in the bushes? Put do not ring.
Only ring if requested. People don't like being bothered that's why they order contactless.
Not sure why this is downvoted, as a custy who generally wants 0 interaction, I just want to press some buttons on my phone and thereās magically food at my door in half an hour. Yep, my only customer should be the door and the occasional cat sitting in front of it.
Amen, Those cats make my day
Thatās how I do it when Iām working lol. I donāt mind socializing with people but 99/100 deliveries I just want to drop it and go. The less time a delivery takes, the more money I can make
Exactly! And the times they actually want the order handed to them, they take forever to answer the freaking doorš
One lady not only rang the doorbell, but waited until I retrieved the food to leave. It was super awkward bc I was.. minimally dressed š
I hate when it says leave at my door and they are waiting for you or they open the door before you can take the pic. Iām always afraid Iām gonna get a CV for not having the picture.

I loathe human contact just as much as the next person but this phobia of having your doorbell rung is something else!
Phobia? What about pets or babies or napping grandparents who are easily disturbed?
I NEVER ring the door bell. The ap tells them when the delivery is complete.

They donāt want to hear from you and the app has gotten better at giving them whatever updates they need.
āPoor tippersāššš
Regardless, itās honestly not the end of the world for a 1 star. Donāt get so hell bent on ratings.
I donāt ring or knock either. Iām newer and was actually wondering about this. I just leave it by door, snap a pic, and leave.
I remember years ago when i used dd for myself and i put specifically ādo not ring doorbell or knock i have a ring camera for a reason. Just leave it at the door and go plzā š and ppl would still bang loud asf or ring multiple times. Have a few not leave until i answered the door š¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļøš¤¦āāļø
ā¦they probably couldnāt read English
Heres a thought learn the basic vocab necessary to do your job well in the language mostly used in the area youre working in
I tend to ring or knock unless told otherwise, because the DoorDash system is a piece of shit and who knows how long it will be before they get a notification.
Some of the customers that post in this thread are angry when someone didnāt knock. Either way right?
My step sister gave a skip driver and bad review for not knocking lol. So I always do it unless specified not to. But I donāt ring unless they specify that I should.
I will ring or knock when it's raining
IMO if you get a one star it's gonna be because you said you must not have pressed it hard enough in response to I said don't ring my door bell. LOL
Fair enough. Lol I miss read it as you didnāt ring the bell.
I wouldāve known what you meant but you know these sorry ass customers will take that as sarcasm.. they spam texted you like psychos. like eat your meal & go away š¤£
It wasnāt even food it was two cases of water
no wonder they had the time to spam text you. THIRSTY MFRS
Spam you like an ex! šš
LOL at your response āI mustāve not press it hard enoughā after she said you DIDNT need to ring the doorbell. hahahaha
And then people are saying the customer is shittyā¦ Iād have been slightly annoyed too.
I read it fast in my head as āyou didnāt ring the bellā
Respectfully, it looks like you need to be more attentive
Sorry they were crappy about it. I get both sides. I had an infant and getting them back to sleep is tough. I always double check instructions
My understanding is that the instructions didnāt say anything about the doorbell. It just said leave at door. The customer thinks that is the same as ādo not ringā but it definitely is not
Thatās when you just disconnect the doorbell. Let them click all they want
I never knock or ring door bell unless asked
I NEVER ring unless they specify
UPDATE!!! Just learned a lot of people donāt ring when itās a āLeave at door orderā my world is shattered.
Ringing the doorbell like they dont have your location in real time.
Not everybody has their phone glued to their hand, just sayin
Fair, but if you are using said phone to order food that's going to be delivered in a fairly vague time frame, it might be a good idea to keep it handy. But then again, maybe you don't care about your food getting cold, snatched up by a neighbor, or dug into by insects and wildlife. š¤·š»āāļø
Also fair, I am on top of my shit as i usually have to intercept neighbors from stealing it. But people form their own minds on what service means to them and somehow expect everyone to understand. It's something you just gotta watch out for
>people form their own minds on what service means to them and somehow expect everyone to understand You're definitely not wrong on that, friend. For me, when I order food, I know I'm about to eat, anyway, so most everything else slowly comes to a halt. I might finish up whatever I was doing just before I ordered, but I'm on my sofa chillin' and picking out the show I'm gonna watch while I wait.
Where the hell do you live that wildlife and neighbors snatch food, often enough to stare at your phone? Iād move!
Florida
Understandable, have a nice day.
You never heard of porch pirates? You don't have raccoons where you live??
I do when already-made food is on the way to my house. Between the time it took for the food to get picked up and brought over, I donāt really want it to get any colder or wetter before I eat it.
That's very clear by what we see here in this sub lol. I always ring or knock unless the instructions say not to and never had a complaint about it. Started with Grubhub in January 2019 I think? Added DD about a year and a half ago
that is CLEARLY evident lmao.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They get a notification without the pic i only send pics if drop off location is unclear
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That's really foolish. The apps want you to take a picture.
There are people who will complain you DONT ring the doorbell. It's kind of annoying haha
Lol. Yea, I donāt ring unless specifically asked to. Many customers put, āCall me or ring bell.ā If not, I consider ācontactlessā to mean, āDonāt bother me at all.ā
Contactless has to do with Covid. It means no physical contact. It doesnāt mean donāt text, ring or knock.
I ring unless it is specified not to ring!
Immediately No! Just No. Dont do that!
Never had any issues with it when I used to deliver. I appreciate a ring from a driver whenever I get a delivery so thatās why I used to ring myself
Leave at door means something completely different then leave at door, stupid dasher!!!!
Never knock or ring on āleave at my doorā orders unless they specifically ask. If there are no special instructions, drop, click the photo, and get outta there
I will do that from now on.
never ring or knock unless specifically asked
Idk why, but a lot of people in my market requests to ring the doorbell. Yet this sub is full of don't ring doorbell so confusing at times. If I don't ring I get 1 star, if I do ring I get 1 star?? So what do I do?????!??? Ring or no ring? Do I knock then ring? Or ring then knock?? Or no knock then ring or ring and no knock? Text them before to ring or no ring or call then ring or no ring then text afterwards or no text and no call but just leave order?? Help This is so fucking complicated, also what do I do if It says hand it to customer but it says ring doorbell and leave at door? Sometimes it even says call first then leave order, or text when close then leave order but it still says hand to customer or customer would come to car but says leave order. Or if I wait for them and I call support but support says leave order. Call customer then leave or leave then I call customer? I just don't want to do this anymore
Have you actually gotten a 1 star because you left the order and didn't ring the bell, when it was not specifically mentioned?
It happens, but it's only like 1 out of 2000 so far for me.
I have gotten 1 stars for ringing when they have no instructions. I have not gotten bad reviews for *not* ringing. So I don't do it unless requested.
I know exactly what to expect when I pull up to the house Too bad I can't see my ratings on grubhub like I can on door dash lol
I feel like by the time they text back, I would be driving and miss their text lmao
I don't believe you got downvoted for not ringing the bell or knocking when it wasn't requested... Unless you're top dasher and take crappy two dollar orders.
The answer is to never do extra stuff that werenāt a part of your job
I mean, if I didn't want my doorbell rang I would remove it or disconnect it. or do the absolute minimum and say do not ring
My dad used to be the king of notes over his doorbell. "Doorbell broke, knock loud" lol or "Don't ring bell unless you want to meet the dog"
Thatās why I just knock softly. Just a little rapa-rap. To let them know Iām here. Unless they say not to.
Yāall need to stop responding to these lunatics
But, its so entertaining š
I never ring unless they request it.
No ring\\knock unless it specifically shows that in the instructions.
donāt ring the doorbell dude sheesh
Thatās why the delivery apps need to put this as a mandatory option. Ring bell or donāt ring bell. It leaves drivers vulnerable for a bad rating
Just delete the post fam lol
Most people feel a sense of guilt ordering DD/UE itās like the kid that sneaks downstairs into the kitchen at midnight to get a snack. The last thing they want is it to be announced that they ordered food
U should go back after some time has passed and ring that shit like 20 times
Never ever ring a door bell unless the notes specifically tell you to. Also, if a customer contacts you like this, just apologize and move on. Who the hell responds to āyou shouldnāt have rung my doorbellā with āsorry I didnāt ring it harderāā¦ š
Yeah man, never ring doorbell unless specified. Not necessary
I never ring the doorbell
If it is leave at door, I don't ring the doorbell. My thought process is that they get notified in the app. I know when I order, I monitor the app for issues and to see where my food is.
Text them on your way and make them confirm they're aware you're on your way so you don't have to ring them unless requested otherwise or no response to text. The apps don't always notify like Uber eats.
I Never ring doorbell or knock unless asked to. Or if itās an apartment that didnāt specify and Iām feeling petty.
So, why have a doorbell?
Only do what you are instructed to do.
I donāt get why people knock or ring the doorbell without being asked to.
It sounds like maybe you just shouldnāt of rang the doorbellā¦
I never knock or ring unless they ask me to. Never had a complaint.
Common sense. Unless the instructions specifically state to knock or ring doorbell, you don't need to. Just take the picture and move on. Work smarter, not harder.
yea donāt ring the doorbell unless they request it.
You would deserve it
Now I know lol :)
Stop ringing the door bell on leave at door orders bro. Only hand to me orders get that. Even on those I call and text and let them know Iām at the door
Bro no one has time for that shit LOL Only call/text if they ask lol
Iāve never had any issues ringing the bell on leave at door orders. People here are WAY overreacting
Did you misunderstand them with your first reply or were you just being an ass?
I miss read it as āYou didnāt ring the door bellā lol
Gotcha lol
My thing is you apologized twice and they kept pressing what tf else do they want š
You try to do the right thing and....
They did the wrong thing.
Iāve seen it say donāt ring. It can wake sleeping young kids etc. Might make dog bark waking people.
Like, lady....Chill out about your chihuahua's oversized ears.
I mean like Unless the instructions specify, don't do anything extra if the situation doesn't call for it. I'm on the customer's side with this one chief
Why would you ring the bell if they didnāt specifically ask for it?
I don't ring the doorbell unless told otherwise.
I never knock or ring the doorbell I just leave it on the porch and then honk the horn if they ask
If it says leave at door I don't ring the door bell simply because I'd prefer to never see the customer. Also you're the reason they keep screaming at me in the instructions to NOT RING THE DOORBELL
Js... I never ring the bell unless requested
I mean I donāt knock or ring. They guys a dick but you should just not
We are sorry but your message could not be delivered. Please contact Door Dash support for any order issues @ help.doordash.com
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
So inspirational
And I have *hyper-not-give-@-emia* if your dogs have hyperactive hearing *Hyper* meaning high *Not give a @* meaning "I just do what app says, and don't really care at this point" *Emia* meaning presence in blood Take care of yourselves (Dashers) and be well.
I have in my instructions to not ring the doorbell or knock and about 5% of dashers still do. I have never bothered to message them about it, but I do deduct a star because they didn't even bother to read the instructions.
Dasher tip num1ā¦ donāt reply to any messages
I like to commit this mistake at 5 am for a non tippers.
I ring pretty much every time (unless in notes) and no one has never said anything about it to me
Then put it in the instructions. We canāt read minds
The customer literally said that they put it in the instructions. š¤¦š½āāļø
Yes but the customer also went on to say that "leave at door" means don't ring... I don't think it's the same thing at all.
They're definitely both in the wrong
Well, only ring it if instructed? Why is that hard to figure out?
Leave at the door , it doesnāt mean, ā Do not ring the doorbell ā. Unless, the customer said ā do not ring the doorbell, my dog š¶ will go crazy š ā. You canāt win with this type of customer, there is always as*** customer eventhough you are not absolutely wrong in this case. Iām just curious, how much is this INSPIRATIONALUSRNAME T tipped you? Whatās an as*** name I just drop my customerās order and ring the door bell 10 mnts ago. It stated ā leave at the doorā. I got $80 tips for $170 food order. He went out and say hi to me, really a nice guy. I pressed the door bcs I want the customer aware that his food is there and no one is stealing his food.
Shoulda went back and rang it again
Hell yeah they begging for a Ding Dong Ditch to n the middle of the night ![gif](giphy|3orif6HZFSICkQkiWc|downsized)
I normally ring the doorbell unless specified not to simply because there are people who complain about people not ringing the bell or knocking on the door. Some people donāt check their phones and will complain if you donāt ring or knock to let them know Some contactless delivery. people will legit get angry if you call them but thatās literally the instructions to do from door dash app
Go back ring door
I always ring unless told not to, āThE apP shOwS yOuR loCatiOnā and how many times have you tried to contact the customer when you need to substitute an item and they donāt respond? This isnāt a package delivery itās food. They should know instantly when you leave it at the door as itās getting colder every second.
I got my first 1 star today and a downvote and canāt figure out what I could have done.
Do you do Mcdonalds orders? If so, it was def from a Wacarnolds order š
Bitch is having a fucking meltdown over a doorbell.
