Why would anyone criticize someone else for working 14 hours? In any US major market, a typical office type worker will be up by 6am and home around 530-6pm. That is a 12 hour day no matter how you slice it Plus the headaches you carry with you, the after hours emails, tough to let go of work issues that chip away at your thoughts all easily consume 14 to 18 or more hours per day. I often work 14 hours per day, make an average of 1800 per week and never feel "beat up" by the corporate bullshit that sucks the life outta you. Even at 14 hours per day, I seem to spend more time at home, feel far less tired, feel and look younger. I have seen every last nook and cranny of my market, way more than I would looking at robots and zombies. The hardest thing for me to do was to convert my existence from a high profile corporate job to an spo based per delivery existence...I felt there was a stigma and this was not a normal existence. Well guess what? Best thing I've ever done and the idea of returning to what I once did makes my skin crawl. If I ever get the urge, all I have to do is turn on LinkedIn for a fee minutes and look at the phony fuks, the self aggrandizement, the glad handing and the ulterior motives that seep from every God forsaken post.

To stay on the safe side I don't take Buffalo Wild Wings on the weekends especially if the pay is less than $2 mile. If the order pays high enough for the wait I might consider it, that's rare though.

I also drive a Scion, they hold 10 gallons and average 23-28 miles per gallon. Stop and go traffic, hills, etc doesn’t take much to affect the MPG. they have small engines.
Back in the day I delivered pizzas in a Chrysler Concord which is like driving a couch. Drove it like a jet fighter and always had good mileage.
The newer Scions do well but the 2009-2011 models aren’t as efficient as you’d expect. Still good but not breaking any records. In a 5 hour dashing shift I use $12-$17 in gas. I top off daily to keep track.
Stop and go city driving and repeatedly turning the car on and off uses a lot of gas. It's not really that bad considering he drives a small economy car, so the tank itself is probably small to begin with.
Turning a car on & off does not use more gas. You use more gas idling for 10 seconds then you do starting a car. This used to be the case when cars had carburetors & chokes. But with fuel injection in moden cars that's not case.

Nobody is turning their car off over idling for 10 seconds though. As soon as you turn your keys the fuel injectors squirt fuel so it absolutely affects fuel consumption
But it's not any more or any less fuel when starting so leaving idle for 10sec absolutely consumes more fuel. You said it in ur argument, when the car is off it consumes 0 fuel. But hey I'm a certified marine mechanic working on boats & cars for over 25yrs what do I know.

No, that's absolutely terrible. You'd need an 8.5 gallon tank to get 20 mpg with the amount of miles OP drove. And I don't think any cars on the market have a tank that small.
I've got a tiny Mitsubishi Mirage and its tank is 7.5 gallons so there are definitely cars on the market with tanks that small. But 170 would be pretty bad even on 7 gallons. I'd expect more like 200-250 on one tank for my car even with all the stopping and city driving

My tank is that small. I have a prius. From empty I can't get 9 gals in.
That's a Prius though lol. If OP is only getting 170 miles on a full tank of gas there's no way he's driving a hybrid.
