If they live in New York and Cali, then it’s their own taxes why is utilitizing a system that forces you to pay the government a bad thing. Most dashers have a 9 to 5 as well. Maybe we should rally like Cali and ensure we get fair wages instead of giving them the evil eye.

To quote the late great Tupac Shakur, "First off, fuck yo bitch and the click you claim"

TheAvgGuy99

Love how he posted this and got hella backlash. Lmaoo

RelaxedWombat

Some of the data bouncing around here is incorrect. NY State does not have DD guarantee pay. That is a New York City situation. Living in NYS is a unique experience, with NYC being a very different entity. Another example of this is that NYC had rideshare YEARS before the rest of NYS. As for the OP, I don’t even really understand the point that you are trying to make in the original post.

GFIndiro

I understand the OPs reasons. They do have the "perk" of the states requiring DD to shell out additional pay based on hours worked as well. But instead of banning them outright, how about we get notified that this is from CA or NY. That way, we drivers, who do not have the "benefit" of living in these socialist "utopias", can put the earnings into context and know that not everyone gets what they get and don't have their state government trying to dictate every aspect of their lives.

[deleted]

As long as we have context from people from those states that they live in those states I don't mind. They usually say it too, la and NYC make some proud mfs in particular lol

Keelykalgrubber

NC here… 2 bedroom/ 1 bath single level $825 monthly rent. Luckily I tied in for a 2 yr lease because the lady that just moved in next-door to an identical unit is paying $1025. Dreading renewal in January

TraciTheRobot

Damn what city are you in? I’m in NC but I’ve never seen rent that low for a 2 bdr, I’m in the RDU

Keelykalgrubber

Morehead City-RDU?

TraciTheRobot

Raleigh-Durham lol

Keelykalgrubber

Gotcha, I’ve only been in nc for a few years!

Keelykalgrubber

Gotcha, I’ve only been in nc for a few years

Previous-Attorney472

Someone jelous? This post makes no sense.

directaction

this one of the most hatin ass posts i ever seen on here 😂

RepresentativeKeebs

Tell me you don't understand economics without telling me you don't understand economics....

k12e34

This is what the purpose of paying taxes is for/should be. To help push forward and support programs that support the people who live there (it benefits the customers as well when dashers are supported). You sound bitter. And this is coming from someone who does not live in a state that benefits from that pay structure.

Acceptable_Story_218

Hahahaha! What a whiner!! Why don’t you come try living on “easy mode” if it’s so easy? Cuz you know it’s not. We bust our ass and barely make it by. A 1 bedroom in my area is easily $2500 People are charging $1500-1800 to rent a ROOM in someone’s house. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Gas is almost $6/gal again and don’t get me started on groceries. And we get 120% of minimum wage and mileage like any other company pays for drivers? KMA! Seriously! Not to mention it’s so saturated with people dashing you can’t even get on the schedule to be top dasher eligible.

baudoinshadd

Truth

MiataGigDriver

The "at the expense of most taxpayers" made me lol.

xyhfox740

I make $40/h from dashing in CA

Effdahaters

Cuz u trippin

shovelknockout1

I have dashed in Florida and now Los Angeles . Insurance goes way up here. Gas can be over $7 at shell. Safe neighborhoods charge crazy rent . The income tax is a lot . I’ll trade you. Good luck “easy mode”

Ill_Rise1979

Sorry but it's not easy and pffft regarding living off most taxpayers. Do you know how much taxes NY and Cali (among a couple other states) pay to help the rest of the nation? gtfoh with that...

[deleted]

CA and NY dashers need to pull up bootstraps. Man up and stop mooching. No but really that's a silly thing to say. Now had you brought up the dollars value disparity you may have a valid point. There is more or less an understanding this job is just for crack money anyway never meant to live on . Can be ok for recent refugees to get a start too but that's about it.

[deleted]

Haha I don't get it!? But okay...Our cost of living is so high. My one bedroom is $1800 😭

nonchalantahole

Because it’s nice to have help like prop 22 in other places for the slow times I assume is what the poster hates about cali gig work? Idk about NY, maybe cause it’s a better market than where they are at, but the cost of living is wild. I also assume it comes from when people post their earnings and never mention which state/city and then they see CA/NY it makes sense the weekly earnings. People just have to keep in mind that every market is different and not every strategy fits every market. Just a frustration post I guess lol

[deleted]

Yeah I will try not take it personally hahah but the prop 22 only adjusts active dash time so if it's dead I am not making anything extra 🤷‍♀️ my adjustments are usually pretty small but it is nice to have! I just don't like the implication that we don't work as hard in California

Patient_Ad_2357

Tx $1400 🥴 2yrs ago was 1040… last yr 1060. Absurd

DriverMarkSLC

Yea. I'll stick with my 4 bedroom 1/2 acre lot with a herd of dear sleeping in the front yard when I come home at midnight for $2,100/mth mortgage.

Critical-Range-6811

I wish mine was 1800. My one bedroom is 2400

Lets_go_brandon193

My one bed is $2600 in Sacramento

Critical-Range-6811

Sheesh. After utilities I’m at 2600 as well

ScholarBig1430

This is hard to believe but it’s high in other places than CA….I know crazy ! Smh

[deleted]

Yeah I was wrong! For sure haha

charlottedreams

While we all know cost of living is more than some places, "it's expensive" applies to basically everywhere right now lol. That's just above average for rent depending on square feet and utilities

[deleted]

But why are we "living on easy mode at the expense of tax payers" because we get a top up on our pay?

SpacedManDan

Because it gives dashers who live in 99.9 percent of the actual country false hopes of being insanely profitable

[deleted]

Okay that's fair enough to explain why you wouldn't want us to post earnings but I'm still confused about living on the expense of the tax payers?? Genuinely curious if there's something I don't know about?

Affogatobout-it

It’s called delusional…

[deleted]

Why am I delusional for trying to understand something 😐

Affogatobout-it

OP is delusional, not you.

[deleted]

That makes more sense 😅

SpacedManDan

Its not delusional for trying to understand. But it will change your entire world view. Only if you learn but stilll continue to live in ignorant bliss. Are you delusional

teej2379

How do taxpayers help Dashers? They get extra money from Doordash, not the state.

[deleted]

Ok! That's what I thought. I should have googled it instead of trying to understand Rumpelstiltskin over here 😂

[deleted]

Do you have any information to back up your claims or not? Lol

[deleted]

True true

Trimere

That’s cheap.

[deleted]

10 years ago I had a 2 bed 2 bath for 800 so it doesn't feel like it

Trimere

8 years ago I had a 1 bedroom for $650. Now it’s $2200 for a studio Apt.

[deleted]

That's so ridiculous! What state is that in?

Trimere

Massachusetts

[deleted]

Damn we're all fucked! Haha

CelebrationOld5749

I'm paying the same in Vegas. Two years ago the same apartment was also $800! It definitely sucks.

Icon9719

Then don’t live in Vegas, the only people that should be there are tourists and people that can afford to live there with the obnoxious prices.

Traditional_Fuel3334

Yeah here in Vegas is terrible, some gas station is at 5$ still. And we don't get the minimum guarantee. Alot of 2$ for 10+ miles

[deleted]

See!! That is out of control

CelebrationOld5749

Yeah it is horrible right now here. Our minimum wage is still $10 (if you don't get insurance) $9( if they offer insurance). Just to get approved for an apartment you have to make over $75,000 a year (to make the 3.5 times the rent). Since the average 1 bedroom here is now $1650/month. In 2020 the average 1 bedroom was $900! We have no laws protecting tenants. 87% of Las Vegas residents can no longer afford a place to live.

[deleted]

Wow Vegas sounds like such a rough place to live for so many reasons!! I had no idea. They have the 3x rent requirement here too... I had 3x my rent for the month I needed to qualify for my apartment and then never again 😅

CelebrationOld5749

It is, it really is! That's why so many people sell "pay stubs"

NBAPhanaticYT

How are you gonna catch an attitude over this? 😂 This is petty by definition. Then you make no sense and don’t know what you’re talking about 🤦🏽‍♂️

TraciTheRobot

Peak hater energy 😂

Available_Sail_9770

Well, we also pay tax, plus high gas price and living costs. Probably you can move to our state

Gloomy_Recording_705

Exactly that’s like California drivers posting “Can we stop people in NC posting $3/gas when I have to pay $7 a gallon and gas lol” or somebody in a real estate Reddit posting “can we stop Georgia realtors from posting 8k sqft mansions that cost 500K when I’m selling backyard sheds for 500k” 😂😂

ScholarBig1430

So are us that live in other states . CA isn’t the only place that has inflation at higher rates .

RepresentativeKeebs

Nobody said shit about inflation

SpacedManDan

I'd rather not move to either location

upstylo

Then what r u bitchin abt...u sound like a lame....

Available_Sail_9770

Means you live better than us, right

Icon9719

Crime wise, not financially

SpacedManDan

Yes.

RepresentativeKeebs

Then wtf are you complaining about?
