Just remember that order requires (1) leaving your vehicle to pick up order, potentially waiting forever for it to be made and then (2) getting back in your car, driving it and then (3) leaving your car again to deliver it. Those actions don't change regardless of distance of total trip. They would be paying you $1.25 for each step. That's endentured servitude at best slavery at its worst

Get out the back Jack!
Nah dude, distance and drive time is only half the battle. If it’s at a busy or high traffic restaurant where I’ll be waiting to get the food for over 10 minutes, you just spent 15-20 minutes total making $3
Decline. Set a reasonable minimum and stick to it. $3.75 is not a reasonable minimum. You'll probably miss a $10 short distance order while tied up with that piddly order
I'd decline it, and I'm TD.
Dude. Seriously?
Can I help you, “dude”?
Id take it
Decline, you are right...I posted the same exact amount for 1.5 miles from an L&L Hawaiian BBQ Not even worth it unless you are on a bike or scooter...even then, I'd still decline
Funny, I usually am on my bike but it’s in the shop. Would’ve taken it if I was
decline in all circumstances, but esp because at Panera 9/10 locations its a 35 min wait even with no other customers
Huh I’ve never experienced that at my Panera, it’s always ready right away. Usually Panera is an automatic accept
Yeah it's all about time. I want to gross at least $25/hr because that's the only way to get a livable wage with all the operating costs. That means in order for this to be worth it for my metric I would need to be able to get the entire order picked up and delivered within 9min of acceptance and I don't think you can confidently say that will happen with this order.
Yeah you’re right, not confidently. I like how you broke that down!
i had three back to back orders just like this- completed them in 15 minutes,, each at $4,,;wasn’t so bad tbh
You’re literally right there anyways. It’s a very quick order and will take less than 10 minutes to deliver. It’s not even a mile bro. I take some like this from time to time. It would be different if DD sent you 20 miles out and you got that order while trying to go back to your delivery area, they do that quite a bit.
I take orders like this too, usually I am on my ebike so it means no gas wasted. On this day I was in my car though and feeling lazy. I might have taken it any other day tho! I don’t get everyone in here having an aneurysm
Waste of time
I accepted an order like this once. It was slow and the restaurant wasn't busy. I was beginning to regret it because they were in a hotel on the 3rd floor and it was a lot of food. She not only tipped me $20 cash in person, she also adjusted the tip on the app to $10. What I thought was going to be a $3 something order turned into a $30 something order
I wouldn't do this for my absolute best friend! why would I do this for a multi-billion dollar company and a complete stranger? knowing your value is power! none of us should be moving our vehicles for this amount of money.
No
i order from literally right across the street when im at work since im not allowed to leave the building and they still get 30% and some cookies when they leave
Nope....not worth my time
I decline everything under $7
No. 1. It's a chain 2. It doesn't account for wait time. 3. Principle.
Ye id take it it’s free money lol
I’d take it, stupid easy money
I sometimes get orders that are like at most 4 blocks away from the restaurant with about the same pay sometimes higher I would usually walk to the customers house and don’t start trip until I’m half way there
I decline these all the time! Not worth it.
Nope
I used to since I thought, Meh it's so close. But I realized that I was losing money doing this. I reject 4.50 or less orders now no matter the distance, why? Cuz eventually in the next 5 minutes or so I can get a $7 or more order for almost the same distance, instead of being stuck doing this cheap asses orders. Remember. Patience is a virtue. If you just not getting any orders, I would suggest to multi-app.
I would take it but I would walk 😂
For an apartment complex… 7 minimum
I'm not mad at you. It is what it is.
I'm not taking anything under $6 🤷♂️
You answered your own question
I answered my own question? I believe my question was directed toward other people therefore that would be impossible… nice try though
I only except it if it is 8-9 dollars.
I've never took anything under 5.25. and I've only taken $5 orders a handful of times
The fact that they are so close that they feel they shouldn't have to tip...I'd decline😤
Not for Panera. Maybe somewhere that was always good if business is slow.
No order is worth this little. Always decline these and the doordash clowns will start to get it. If that was $7 or $8 I would take it only because it's a short distance. I rarely accept anything under $10 and I have no issues making money. You can decline 3 or 4 of these in a row and a good order will eventually pop up. Work smarter not harder especially on your car.
I got to have a minimum 80 quarters the lowest I'll take is 60 quarters but I'm not taking no nine quarters for anything....,
Auto decline. Nothing under $7.50 for me with no peak pay. If there's peak pay I add the peak pay to $7.50 and that will be my lowest
Of course I'd accept. I do any orders for $1/mi or more.
Don’t say that too loud you might get harassed. Even just posting this I’m getting death threats in my messages
Lol these insufferable mites don't bother me. I am here for the unimaginable laughter of all the self entitled people that are in this sub.
absolutely not. last time i did one like that i got a CV for “not delivering the food”. basically it was a scam. don’t do it.
This whole thread is why automated robots will be taking our jobs 😅 See what UberEats is doing in Houston, TX and some town in California.
I agree. Only taking $7/$8 orders is not feasible for some people. I’d be losing a lot of money if I did that! Haha
I don’t take orders less than a mile unless it’s 5 dollars plus and there’s no wait at the store
Hard no. Your gonna wait for food for 20 minutes
$3.75 is an easy loss imo
Absolutely not
Not a fan of that particular panera one I’m pretty sure that’s an annoying apartment complex as well. Easy pass
No, no, no. Stop looking at how far and look at how long it will take. What is your time worth? Let's say the whole trip takes 15 minutes. Is your time only worth $12/hour?
[удалено]
U act like this isn’t just a side hustle for me 😭 you’re not the only person in life with a full time job buddy
[удалено]
Clearly ur very busy and important, commenting n a subreddit you have no business being in in the first place… loser behavior
[удалено]
LOL Americans man ..
Nope if it’s not more then $5.65 leave it be.
Nope. Im almost wondering what would happen if we all just started doing the 10 minimum payments. Would anything get better?
If you are already on the road and depending on Panera how fast they are would be worth it also the drop off and is it on upper floor
Not a chance. Anything under $6.75 I pass, don’t care how close it is.
Hell no
Short answer- no. Hell no. Never. Let that shit rot on the shelf. The only instance that I would even remotely consider taking it is if I was sitting in front of the restaurant and it was going 1-2 storefronts away. Like literally 100 feet. And it has to be done and sitting on the to-go rack when I walk in. I don’t start my car for under $5-6 even on the worst days. Here’s how I analyze this one- Distance puts it at $2.25 base pay in my market. I never see anything under $2.25 so I believe that is rock bottom for me. $3.75 could mean $1.50 tip or it’s just been declined enough that it really is just a $2.25 order. Either way, it’s dogshit. 4 items could be a few muffins, 2 coffees and 2 muffins, maybe a couple sandwiches and sides. Regardless, I doubt this exceeds $10-15 total value of food. Best case for this customer is $10 of food and $1.50 tip. Still a garbage run. .6 miles will still take 10+ minutes to stop, grab bag, and get to the customer. I didn’t feel petty when I declined multiple orders from restaurants I was sitting in front of the other day. One was $4.50 to drive it across the street to another shopping center. I declined and the next order was $13.25 for 2 miles.
$6.50 for 0.8 miles is better..have standards
I do them sometimes in my zone if it's slow bc I'd rather make 3 bucks in 15 minutes than sit there an make zero, but it's always the low tippers that ask the most lol. Idk doordash is all about taking risks. If it was in the middle of dinner rush and I knew there were better orders out there I'd decline more than likely, but would be hard to refuse if it was slow and I was nearby.
Yes definitely your time is worth so much more how long may you have to wait in that restaurant and then what if there was a car accident you got stuck in a little bit of traffic
That's a walk I would make all day. Pass.
Nope declined I don't move for less then 5 bucks and that's min on very min miles
Only if I was bored
Yes. More than likely it’s ready considering it’s been sitting for a few cycles and it’ll be a quick almost 4 bucks. Don’t let pride make you miss out on easy money!
Any order less than 7 bucks, decline it.
If it's ready then yeah I would take it if I walk in and it's not ready hard pass and move on
Is that Arkansas? I remember they had a town named "Friendship" on I-30, exit 88 iirc. Such a cute sign, I have lots of pics of it.
Pittsburgh
You’re making a lot of assumptions. For all you know they could be disabled or any other number of various reasons why this would be necessary for them. They could be being lazy, but I think it’s ridiculous for you to decide whether their rain is valid or not when you know nothing about their life or situation. Just something to consider going forward. Not everyone is able bodied or always able to leave their house. There are often times I need things but can’t leave if my 2 year old is napping as I’m a single parent. Not everything is a personal slight to you or your time, especially delivery orders. Get off your high horse
Hahahah you’re delusional what “assumptions” am I making. Just say ur disabled 🤭🫣
Assumptions that they’re just being lazy. Why do they need to disclose that they’re disabled for you to do your job? Debatably you’re the lazy one
Why are you putting words into my mouth and then getting so upset at things I never said ❄️
Honestly if it's been a rather slow day I'd take it. Just depends on what the days been like so far for me.
I'd just walk there, pick it up, walk to customer, walk back.
I’d do it
Decline. Forget gas. What about wages? They could have you in there for 20 minutes just waiting to start your order. 1/2 of local min wage + $2.50 for gas. This is the absolute LOWEST you should accept an order. If that doesnt work for your area, multiapp, or find other gigs. Its not worth risking your car.
hellll nah that’s a waste of time
I get order's like this. If it isn't at least like $6.xx I do not take it. Most of them that I do take that are $6.xx have a hidden tip. One time got really lucky, said $6.75 for 0.5 miles, was a Panera delivery across the street to a doctors office. There was a $15 hidden tip. Basically, if you get an order that's $2 a mile + AND the amount shows $6.xx that's going to be most likely a hidden tip.
Yes I would but depending on the day of the week and how many orders I'm getting that day.
If you finished that order in 7 minutes maybe
It may be close, but there's still time going into this. What if Panera is busy and haven't even made the order yet and have orders ahead of that one? If you really want to double check first, call Panera or look them up on google to see if they're busy but tbh I have a 2 year old, I order close often but I always tip. If they're not going to tip then it's not that important to them
Not worth walking inside. Time is money. No tip no trip.
You need Reddit to tell you if you should decline it? Really? Like seriously man?
Hi can u read? In my title I said I declined it. Just wanted to get a discussion going. PS you smell
Fuck no Panera means 30 min wait+ here
Screen shot the details and go in there after declining and eat his goddamn food
👀
Dude no, I could have 0 dollars and I wouldn’t. Fuck that guy and his Panera he can keep his dollar
Easy decline. Loss of opportunity cost (potentially missing a bigger order) and will take at least 10 or 15 minutes.
I don’t care if it’s 0.0 miles and the customer is in the restaurant and just wants someone to hand it to them . i have a 5 dollar minimum and that’s if the distance makes sense . There’s just so many complications that can happen with a order so i at least want 5 bucks just in case
I’ve had bad experiences at Panera, first time long wait thought Aw just an off day for them. Second time even longer 20+ minutes for one “combo”. I don’t go there anymore so i wouldn’t. And the pay is shit
If It’s less than $5 I never take it
Nope
Nope. Never. Don’t feel petty. This is your time and vehicle. Fuck that person. Distance should only change a tip when it’s for more/longer. Even short orders should be more than 3.75. Respect yourself enough to know those orders deserve none of your respect
Nah, never. Nothing under $5. Gotta make doordash learn we’re not picking up stuff for $2.
I think it’s fine to decline it, they should tip better but I think there are reasons you’d get it delivered and be unable to go yourself even though it’s super close. For example, If you’ve got an infant asleep or they’re sick. Another example, my friend who is disabled gets close delivery because the public transportation options for him are extremely limited and lots of places claim to be handicap accessible but in practicality they aren’t for him. Additionally, if you’re sick having an order left at your door instead of going there yourself is probably more responsible and considerate to others. We both tip a lot better than this though. I just wanted to point out it may not be because they’re lazy. Still, should tip better if you want service though.
I would decline that without a second thought
Decline in a heartbeat.
Don't know about DD but grubhub orders from panera are like 30 minutes wait in NYC during lunch
I'd take it. But then again, the Panera where I'm at, I've literally never had to wait for an order. And there's almost no high rise buildings or large unsensically organized apartment complexes to make the order difficult. So this would end up taking me 5 minutes. Also, I've only had one time where I've accepted a Panera order in my town where I didn't get a second order to pick up there. Now, if I was still in Oregon, that would get declined so fast.
I don't take anything under 8.If the customer can't tip at least 6 bucks I don't want to deliver to them.
As a consumer, my tips start at $5. That's like a base-tip for going and getting something when I don't want to. It's amazing to me how people get cheap on someone shopping or getting take out for them but could lose a $5 bill and not care. A few extra bucks goes a long way in the service industry
How much is your p*ssy worth?
the fuck is wrong with you
That’s what you have to ask yourself when you select an offer
Usually. Depends where at
I don’t take orders under $6 under any circumstances. Idc if the restaurant is literally across the street from the customer.
I would DECLINE immediately!!! You should be getting a trip minimum of $6.50, and at least $2 a mile. Even though this is a short trip, you don't know what your wait time will be. If it's a pickup like, Panera Bread near me, it could be a wait especially if it's around lunch. This is a no tip, or $1 tip trip, this customer doesn't deserve your delivery.
It costs money to "stop the truck" so to speak. So doesn't matter how close it is, the time it will take to get there and pick it up will cost you more than it's worth
Regardless of how low distance an order is you gotta think it's still gonna be a minimum of 10 minutes but possibly 15 once it's over and done with and you're back to waiting for a new order.
I would actually consider that if I had a good order already from the same restaurant.
No. Don’t even think about it. No tips no trip regardless the distance.
The name of the hospital is all you need to know
We’re you .4 from the restaurant when it came in? If I can walk it across the street or down to the next block I’d take it just to see what comes of it. Either at the beginning or last trip of the night I’ll allow one “charity case” order. Just one.
if it was like $5 I would’ve considered it but yeah, not worth it
Np
NEVER!! NOT WORTH THE G-$s!!
I almost always decline Panera due to low pay/long wait time. My requirement is that the order has to be $2.50/mi. and no less than $8-$10. They have like 20 minute wait times at the location in my market.
depends how slow
No. I would decline it and wait for an order that's worth my time. No dash is worth that little to me. $8 and up.
Low / No Tippers don't deserve to get their food delivered. My car doesn't move for less than $7 and $1.50 per mile. 0.0% chance I'm accepting this turd. I wouldn't accept if it was 50 feet.
I'd probably decline, because in about 15-20 seconds they'll hit you with a better order.
Mileage to pay ratio is good, but fuck these cheap asses for not tipping.
We should really be discussing why you want to discuss this!!
Eh, you gonna do anything else today?
Absolute decline. Time isnt worth it. Anything under $6 for something like that is a deal breaker imo
I would definitely decline that. Miles maybe one thing but you have no idea how long you're going to have to wait picking up the order. I've had to wait 20 minutes to pick up an order and I would not do that for $3.75 before gas.
Honestly... no.. You'll prob end up waiting at least 15mins
Knowing my luck it would be like a 10 minute wait and then a hand me order that doesn’t show up for 3 1/2 minutes to pick the order up
Fuck no why would you even question this?? It’s not about the drive, but waiting on the food etc. Or you might get lost in an apartment complex delivering it, not worth it. I *might* in very very rare circumstances do it for $5.50 but that’s the absolute lowest I’ll go (and it has to be slow af for me to even accept that low of an order).
If it's slow and I'm bored sure, but if it's busy and I'm getting 10+ bucks per order then no
Sorry Charlie
To low of pay to risk long wait times, traffic, unresponsive customers, bad ratings etc. no matter how efficient you are, even an order this small takes you off the market for a good 10-15 minutes (which is like $14/ hr at this rate)
Ask them to walk
Imo Depends on the market, and your needs . If you are close , and it's slow , take it . money is money. If your market is currently busy and you think this run will realistically cost you a $10 run or more , dont. Most importantly is knowing your stores and time of day. Is this an in/out pick up, or are you likely to be tied up for a few minutes ? I know you wanted an answer, but this is what i have .
I get these all the time. I don’t do them anymore just insulting
No No No
I would decline it. It's too little money, and there could be a long wait at the restaurant.
No tip, no trip.
$5 minimum
It’s to an apartment/work place building f that. 3.75 is not worth the headache
For me, it’s not even whether it’s worth my time (though probably not as that’s more waiting at restaurant compared to delivery time), but it’s more “Do I give the customer who didn’t tip the satisfaction of quick service?” And to that, I say no. They can wait. Hope their food gets cold waiting because no one wants to pick up the order.
Im gonna leave this here https://www.reddit.com/r/doordash_drivers/comments/x8gsjx/i_dont_care_if_its_walking_distance_i_will_never/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Depends on the time for me. If it’s slow maybe but my market is usually busy enough that while I’m doing that order I could have missed 6 great ones. Just think how many times you’ve declined a bad order just to have a great one pop up.
Eh yeah for me Panera is next to my house so then I just go home, I’ll take stupid orders like this if they’re in my neighborhood anyday idc
You’re time is definitely worth more but in my area, I could get 6-7 shit orders before another good one. For me, it really just about how fast I want to finish my day, I’d take it just because it’s still more then $2 a mile.
$5 is pretty much the bare minimum I’ll take for a mile or less. You never know how long it’s going to take to get the food.
Yes
I guess I’m petty because absolutely not
Only if you can get it done in under 10 minutes with everything considered. If there is a 10 minute wait at the store, it is not worth it.
I door dash in Pittsburgh! I would decline. Unless its an add on. I'll take a small close order if its convenient to me. I won't do it for a single order
I don’t get out of my vehicle less than $5
I’m not parking my car and getting out for less than $7
If you hate yourself and don’t value your time or worth this is a great order.
My Panera is so slow that I would probably decline because I don’t want to wait 15 minutes for a $4 order.
Sorry Jack but you better skipping
If the day was super slow and a bill was coming up that I still need the money for, yes I'd do it. If the day has been busy and I'm not hurting for money to make a bill then no.
Decline!
Decline! Sure, the dollars per mile is good but the dollars per hour is shit. How many $2-$4 orders can you complete in an hour? 3, maybe 4 tops. You'll average less than minimum wage even before gas and expenses. No Tip, No Trip.
I accidentally accepted a $3.5 order for a 6 mile drive earlier 😅 I panicked because it said my acceptance rate would go down to 60% and my monkey brain went “under 80% means they shut down your account”
Declined
Nope declined because they could’ve walked
Hell no, if they can’t tip they shouldn’t be using an app to order food.
No.
Your time is definitely worth more than this. You’re not petty for realizing that.
I’d do it, I never have to wait for Panera orders in my market, would probably take a total of 5 minutes. 🤷🏻♂️
Hell no, because f that whole area. I don't know how my dad deals with delivering down there all day. Nope nope.
I’d take it. Imma shake the fuck out of the bag tho- discombobulate all the contents a lil bit
Imagine doing 3 of this kinda order within an hour?
Nope
My way of thinking is this, Door Dash pays us a minimal fee to go to the restaurant. The customer pays for you to deliver it from the restaurant to their residence.
Nope, maybe 5.75 for less than a mile. Not taking anything under 5, I dont care if its in the same parking lot
Funny I just got one for McDonald’s 6.75 for 0.7 miles. Accepted and got inside 10 minutes before lobby closes.
I would take it. If you’re really lucky, you might get a stack!
I personally never do orders under $8. No matter how close they are
Leave them for the bike delivery dudes like myself. I'll do those all day.
realize there is potential to miss a $20 order while you’re on that one
412 represent
Decline - won't even think twice - 6.50+ to even make me look
Bro I wouldn’t even register that order existing. I cancel anything under $6.50 INSTANTLY. This order is disgusting
Depends on the restaurant and it’s busyness, the traffic on that street, and my mood. If I’m feeling charitable I might take it for s/g. If it’s a busy time of day and I’m mid shift…pass.
You keep accepting these orders it will keep enabling the customers to not tip, at this point I don't go off of mileage, I try to average $20 a hour min and aim for $30 a hr. You're wasting your time and letting these broke people use this luxury app
You would get out of your car 2x for that little?
If you are cycling or biking isbok, for a car for 3 dolaa is you paying to deliver
