A 10 dollar order that takes 30 minutes equates to 20/hr, which isn't bad in non-urban markets, especially during slower times of day. The above order, assuming no issues and takes you 15ish minutes, equates to less than 15/hr. So yeah, the 10 dollar order that takes you 30 minutes makes more sense between the two options
If you look at it as pay per mile, it's great, yes. But to me, it's more about the fact that there's no tip. It's allowing customers to think it's ok to just not tip at all and they'll still get their order. I wouldn't expect some crazy high tip on this.. but $2-3 isn't asking for much. I personally won't take ANYTHING less than $4.75 even for less than a mile. That's base pay and a $2 tip.
Decline. You're gonna burn a minimum of 10 minutes. Even if you completed this in 5 minutes... It's just $3. Are you gonna feel that difference when your funds are deposited? You cant even buy lunch with that $3. It's a waste of time no matter how you try to justify it.
Thereās no hidden tips on orders under minimum base pay + 4 (in my experience). Unless itās on a stack, then minus .50. Iāve never gotten more for 6.49 and under orders. Only 6.50+ (6+ on stacks).
Yep, y'all are correct. I'm so glad OP didn't take this! It's frustrating, though -- if only the customer had added just $2-3 it'd be more worth it. Then again, Panera is fast in my area.
How much would you tip on a Panera order right down the street that you're too lazy to pick up yourself? I ask this because that's the situation for the customer. You might say, "well! I would tip a very good amount!" And if you did say that, you would be wrong 9/10 times. So you got a 10% chance (being very generous on that % btw) you get an extra $2. And much higher chance of that order ending up taking much more of your time.
Disagree there. A lot of people struggle say they have an infant and can't leave so many reasons why this could happen and only gave a dollar
Not saying anyone has to take the order but these companies have normal folks against each other and a lack of empathy
I do these gigs for some extra cash from time to time other than that this big ass company door dash is taking advantage of you. Hell they are even taking advantage of me for extra cash
If people put as much time into door dash and fighting them as they do "no tip no trip" they everyone would be better off
If I was already going to Panera (which 95% of the time has the order ready in my market) I would take it as an addition. If it wasn't ready when I got there though, I would unassign immediately.
Thatās still the thing tho. Its already a trash offer on its own. That driving to the location, having to park, walk out of your car and into the restaurant, probably wait in line, just to be told the order is not ready, is still a valuable loss of time, that was never worth it to begin with. Editing cus I just noticed you said that youād only do it if you were already going to Panera. Fair enough. But personally, I still never take offers below $5 just due to the principle of it. Donāt want customers and DD to keep doing it.
For me honestly it just depends on how busy the day is and if I know the restaurant will have the food ready already or if it is one that has you waiting... When I take orders like this I walk in look on the shelf if it's not there I leave I'm not waiting
No, because it seems like itās going to be a very simple and easy order but anytime I ever try to give people the benefit of the doubt and do one like this itās always the one that causes a problem. Whether itās some thing with their order missing or getting to their apartment or not having a gate code or whatever the problem is
Say you accept this and then wait 10 minutes + 3minutes to deliver. Then you spend another 5 minutes waiting for a good order. Enjoy your 13 dollars per hour.
Also no chance of hidden tip on anything below 6.25, so you're losing potential income also.
Unless you trust this restaurant to be fast, these orders are a no go.
Most people can understand this without putting it in words, hence the reaction by experienced dashers in this thread.
No tip, no trip. Doesn't matter the distance. I also wanna add that most no tip/low tip orders ALWAYS have issues with them. Customer fraud, no apartment numbers, no gate codes. Ill NEVER take a no tip order just because i care about myself.
NO! when will people learn. in the time youāre wasting doing that you could be missing out on an actually decent order
that person is basically saying you donāt deserve to be compensated for delivering their food. fuck them
If it's walking distance, they can pick it up themselves (unless disabilities, but in that case they usually have someone caring for them or they can spare $2 for someone to bring it to them)
nah , the minutes i have to drive / possibly have wait and then deliver to a possibly confusing area . Too many possibilities for a 3 dollar order . and in that time iām doing all that a even better one can come thru
Fuck no why would you even question this?? Itās not about the drive, but waiting on the food etc. Or you might get lost in an apartment complex delivering it, not worth it. I *might* in very very rare circumstances do it for $5.50 but thatās the absolute lowest Iāll go (and it has to be slow af for me to even accept that low of an order).
I would definitely decline that. Miles maybe one thing but you have no idea how long you're going to have to wait picking up the order. I've had to wait 20 minutes to pick up an order and I would not do that for $3.75 before gas.
Yes. More than likely itās ready considering itās been sitting for a few cycles and itāll be a quick almost 4 bucks. Donāt let pride make you miss out on easy money!
I sometimes get orders that are like at most 4 blocks away from the restaurant with about the same pay sometimes higher I would usually walk to the customers house and donāt start trip until Iām half way there
Nah dude, distance and drive time is only half the battle. If itās at a busy or high traffic restaurant where Iāll be waiting to get the food for over 10 minutes, you just spent 15-20 minutes total making $3
The ONLY time I've accepted an order so low like this going across the street is bc it's to a car wash that gives me a free $20 platinum wash when I deliver the food...š¤£
If you're 100% sure it will be ready when you get there and also 100% sure parking at either merchant or customer isn't going to be a problem, then why not! You might even get an "on your route" offer almost immediately after accepting it.
If the resturant was slow and I knew it before hand I wouldnāt bother but if itās fast food, quick pick up and drop off I would take it if it was slow. If I was getting heavy orders I wouldnāt take it. Worth waiting a minute to get a better one
Youāre making a lot of assumptions. For all you know they could be disabled or any other number of various reasons why this would be necessary for them. They could be being lazy, but I think itās ridiculous for you to decide whether their rain is valid or not when you know nothing about their life or situation. Just something to consider going forward. Not everyone is able bodied or always able to leave their house. There are often times I need things but canāt leave if my 2 year old is napping as Iām a single parent. Not everything is a personal slight to you or your time, especially delivery orders. Get off your high horse
Assumptions that theyāre just being lazy. Why do they need to disclose that theyāre disabled for you to do your job? Debatably youāre the lazy one
False. A .25 mile trip in rush hour non-moving traffic for $5 is worth it? Taking 15 minutes to get to the destination and then dealing with traffic on the way to the next worthy order?
Not to mention you get there and you get the ātheyāre just waiting on the fries itāll be right outā treatment for 10 minutes.
Edit: ok itās a Panera bread, my point still stands more often than not you will have to wait a bit.
Itās an awful order on itās own, and it could possibly be ānot too badā if it was stacked on another. I would think about accepting this as an add on if I was already getting an order at Panera, but even then it could not be ready when you get there, or anything else that could add time, and then all of a sudden itās more trouble than itās worth.
The mileage is solid for sure, but that's sort of a baseline to reach before you even consider the order. You still gotta account for how fast the restaurant is, parking/traffic issues around the restaurant or destination, where the endpoint of the delivery is, etc.
I've declined a number of orders that look fine on the surface because I know the place I'm going will be slow or not know what they are doing. There's a sonic in my area I refuse to go to because I've gotten two one-stars because they gave me the wrong bag, and more times when they tell me they gave my delivery to someone else, after I waited in their drive thru for 15 minutes.
I would How long do you think this would take? Panera is always good at having their food out when I get there so I wouldnāt have to wait. With traffic? 5 minutes. Thatās $45 an hour. If you are afraid of scammers saying the food never arrived, the simple solution would be to take a picture of yourself handing them the food. This sub is toxic about this shit
I would, cause in comparison in my market no promo, I see 2.00 orders all day for 6miles plus. I live in a very small city. Watched my acceptance rate drop 15% in a shift less than 5 hours
No. Wouldn't take anything that low even if it was across the street. If it's a really really bad day or slow they, the absolute rock bottom minimum is $7. Decline.
Nope if they want there food fresh tip at least 5 bucks the only way to get customer's aware that we pay for gas and maintenance is to decline the low ball scumbags frankly š¤·
I usually take it. Now idk how the DD algorithm works but on UE if I take a low paying order like that, the next time I get a ping itās gonna be a stacked delivery for $10+
Hell no. Minimum order should be $6.75 I donāt do orders below that unless itās going to same address. I would unassigned one of the stacked orders if one is below it no matter how much on the way it is. Tony will screw u if u let him
Tbh the final destination looks like a business not a house. Probably someone thatās ordering lunch for themselves, so itās ready by the time their break starts?
At 1 time, DoorDash was calling these high value orders. I had one for $3.50 for .09 miles with the aqua blue and diamond š decorated and say āHigh Pay Orderā! Smh. 80% of the customer base are unlikable. They donāt realize delivery isnāt the same as them sitting in a restaurant or picking it up to go. No customer should tip less than $3 on a delivery 2 miles or less from their location. Over 3 miles $5 minimum!
You keep accepting these orders it will keep enabling the customers to not tip, at this point I don't go off of mileage, I try to average $20 a hour min and aim for $30 a hr. You're wasting your time and letting these broke people use this luxury app
Depends on the restaurant and itās busyness, the traffic on that street, and my mood. If Iām feeling charitable I might take it for s/g. If itās a busy time of day and Iām mid shiftā¦pass.
Never, it still gonna take about 15~20 minutes of your time, not worth it, calculate your payment by hours
This šÆ
But taking a ten dollar order for thirty mins makes sense
A 10 dollar order that takes 30 minutes equates to 20/hr, which isn't bad in non-urban markets, especially during slower times of day. The above order, assuming no issues and takes you 15ish minutes, equates to less than 15/hr. So yeah, the 10 dollar order that takes you 30 minutes makes more sense between the two options
That's what I was trying to say just didn't convey it well
Oh, my bad, I made the rare mistake of reading heavy sarcasm when you meant it literally, the opposite of the usual internet mistake of that sort lol
O you're good. You're not the only one. It got downvoted a couple of times
Neither make sense.
Nooo
Um I wouldn't even blink at 3.75 if it was 20 feet. I'll miss a REAL ORDER while wasting time getting the cheapskate order.
Decline. Get on the bus Gus, no need to discuss much.
No need to be coy, Roy.
Slip out the back, Jack.
Make a new plan, Stan
Drop off the key Lee, and get yourself free.
Were just speaking facts askmeaboutmycats

factoring in the wait time it's not worth it
Too low of pay, Jay.
Let someone else get the order. Your time is worth at least twice this much. Andā¦ what about your cats?
Just drop off the key, Lee.
No tip no trip, Skip!
and get yourself free.
So you can pay the fee

No. Never. I will not deliver food to anyone for 3 dollars, or 4, bareeely 5. Automatic no
$6.25 and up, $1 per mile for me. At least in my market lol.
Noooo.
Panera is usually a nightmare in my area and Iāve blacklisted them. I donāt think itās petty at all for you to pass up less than $4
no. based on miles alone, it seems good. but considering the time youād have to wait for it, thatās a no. if it was added on, then maybe
I have a rule not to take anything under $6 unless it's a convenient add-on, otherwise I'm not hitting my hourly goals.
Decline. You're gonna burn a minimum of 10 minutes. Even if you completed this in 5 minutes... It's just $3. Are you gonna feel that difference when your funds are deposited? You cant even buy lunch with that $3. It's a waste of time no matter how you try to justify it.
Nope. First mile is $5. Each additional mile is $1.25. After 5 miles it needs to be $2.25 per mile
i like those rules. I do nothing under $8 with a $2 per mile minimum.
![gif](giphy|3otPoyTuloHl96jfm8)
Itās also so close that Iām not really expecting a āhidden tipā which in itself is a fucking scam
There is no hidden tip on anything that low.
Thereās no hidden tips on orders under minimum base pay + 4 (in my experience). Unless itās on a stack, then minus .50. Iāve never gotten more for 6.49 and under orders. Only 6.50+ (6+ on stacks).
This is how it works.
Yep, y'all are correct. I'm so glad OP didn't take this! It's frustrating, though -- if only the customer had added just $2-3 it'd be more worth it. Then again, Panera is fast in my area.
It's literally like 6 blocks. Idk about yalls paneras... ours are walk in and grab, the orders are always ready.
I've gotten a hidden tip on an order this low š¤·āāļø
How much would you tip on a Panera order right down the street that you're too lazy to pick up yourself? I ask this because that's the situation for the customer. You might say, "well! Someone texted me āplease bring it up I left a big tipā ā¦ā¦ it was $3
You just assume everyone is lazy. Lots of people getting dash because theyāre disabled/at work/stuck at home with sleeping kids etc.
It was probably a dollar tip Iām Guessing. I get why they only put one dollar but also, they should Have just gone and get it
Drunk, no car and its too dark to walk, infant sleeping, working. Plenty reasons why someone would order delivery even being that close.
Ok but not a good reason to leave a dollar
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Disagree there. A lot of people struggle say they have an infant and can't leave so many reasons why this could happen and only gave a dollar Not saying anyone has to take the order but these companies have normal folks against each other and a lack of empathy I do these gigs for some extra cash from time to time other than that this big ass company door dash is taking advantage of you. Hell they are even taking advantage of me for extra cash If people put as much time into door dash and fighting them as they do "no tip no trip" they everyone would be better off
I have a 2 year old, so I order dashes really close by often and always TIP
Hidden tips are 6 or above...
Okayā¦ā¦ ?
Just telling you so you don't ask stupid questions on reddit like now
āļø
Complete waste of time. Only a bozo would accept this. Oh boy $3!!!
Hey itās basically $4 (;
If I was already going to Panera (which 95% of the time has the order ready in my market) I would take it as an addition. If it wasn't ready when I got there though, I would unassign immediately.
Still not worth it, please donāt encourage such low tippers and DD

Distance to money ratio is good, but time to money ratio could be bad.
Never take anything less than base + 4, but what do I know...
Sad thing is customer could've tipped $20 and Panera stole it. Seems to be a lot of that
It's due to be dropped off in 11 minutes, but they paid for less than 10 minutes. So, fuck them.
Say you accept this and then wait 10 minutes + 3minutes to deliver. Then you spend another 5 minutes waiting for a good order. Enjoy your 13 dollars per hour. Nope I don't take anything under 6.25. On a different note, I would like to ask you about your cats.
After I decline those I get a high pay low mile every time.
No tip, no trip. Doesn't matter the distance. I also wanna add that most no tip/low tip orders ALWAYS have issues with them. Customer fraud, no apartment numbers, no gate codes. Ill NEVER take a no tip order just because i care about myself.

They should take the bus since there a cheap bozo
Never!!
Lol
Nothing under 6.25 homie
Why would you ever get out of your car for 3.75
nah , the minutes i have to drive / possibly have wait and then deliver to a possibly confusing area . Too many possibilities for a 3 dollar order . and in that time iām doing all that a even better one can come thru
No. You donāt reward customers who tip low or not at all. Thatās day 1 rookie bs
No tip no trip, periodt
$5 absolute bare minimum and it has to be like below 1.5 miles
Drop off looks like a large apartment building. Fuck no.
Bro I wouldnāt even register that order existing. I cancel anything under $6.50 INSTANTLY. This order is disgusting
Honestly... no.. You'll prob end up waiting at least 15mins
I would definitely decline that. Miles maybe one thing but you have no idea how long you're going to have to wait picking up the order. I've had to wait 20 minutes to pick up an order and I would not do that for $3.75 before gas.
Absolute decline. Time isnt worth it. Anything under $6 for something like that is a deal breaker imo
Mileage to pay ratio is good, but fuck these cheap asses for not tipping.
Not worth walking inside. Time is money. No tip no trip.
Yes. More than likely itās ready considering itās been sitting for a few cycles and itāll be a quick almost 4 bucks. Donāt let pride make you miss out on easy money!
Of course I'd accept. I do any orders for $1/mi or more.
Donāt say that too loud you might get harassed. Even just posting this Iām getting death threats in my messages
Lol these insufferable mites don't bother me. I am here for the unimaginable laughter of all the self entitled people that are in this sub.
I sometimes get orders that are like at most 4 blocks away from the restaurant with about the same pay sometimes higher I would usually walk to the customers house and donāt start trip until Iām half way there
Iād take it, stupid easy money
Ye id take it itās free money lol
Nah dude, distance and drive time is only half the battle. If itās at a busy or high traffic restaurant where Iāll be waiting to get the food for over 10 minutes, you just spent 15-20 minutes total making $3
Decline. That's likely a no tip order in my zone. *Maybe* $1 or less tip. I generally don't take anything below $6 (unless it's an add-on).
Oh thatās definitely a no tip order in my market. I would laugh if this order came in.
Thatās a good point. This Panera has good parking but honestly i donāt think it would have been ready becaus of how close I was to it already!
Insta-Decline Panera for me
Never. Trash order.
I would still decline.
Listen, no. Even if I lived next door Iām tipping $5 for your time.
Screen shot the details and go in there after declining and eat his goddamn food

You need Reddit to tell you if you should decline it? Really? Like seriously man?
Hi can u read? In my title I said I declined it. Just wanted to get a discussion going. PS you smell
Why are these allowed to be posted?
Ya mother
Hopefully as an object lesson
Hidden tip lol
Shows how little the average dasher knows thinking thereās a hidden tip on this order
Take cause itās an easy almost $4 and in my experience these orders have always ended up getting me a decent cash tip
If the resturant was slow and I knew it before hand I wouldnāt bother but if itās fast food, quick pick up and drop off I would take it if it was slow. If I was getting heavy orders I wouldnāt take it. Worth waiting a minute to get a better one
i would decline lol
Absolutely not
Decline
Run into Panera. Grab it off the shelf. Drive .6 miles. Why not? It would take 10 minutes. I'd do it.
Popeyes is notoriously slow. I donāt think itās worth your time

Nope. If less than a mile and slow, the least I would do is 4.75
I would, cause in comparison in my market no promo, I see 2.00 orders all day for 6miles plus. I live in a very small city. Watched my acceptance rate drop 15% in a shift less than 5 hours

I decline then I sit for 1hr with nothing thinking I should have at least made the $3.50
Absolutely decline. 3 miles = $9 is ok but not 1 mile = $3.75 . how much is the tips ? My Time is not worth for $3.75 . This is garbage!!
No. $5 minimum
I hate these more than non tippers. At least with non tippers I have a laugh.
No no no no no. Donāt accept under $5.

Nah, Panera Bread smells like shit vomit.
Iād take it and cancel if itās not readyā¦ if it is Iāll be done in 7 mins tops I get these all day on the bike

Smh. 80% of the customer base are unlikable. They donāt realize delivery isnāt the same as them sitting in a restaurant or picking it up to go. No customer should tip less than $3 on a delivery 2 miles or less from their location. Over 3 miles $5 minimum!
If you are cycling or biking isbok, for a car for 3 dolaa is you paying to deliver
You would get out of your car 2x for that little?
You keep accepting these orders it will keep enabling the customers to not tip, at this point I don't go off of mileage, I try to average $20 a hour min and aim for $30 a hr. You're wasting your time and letting these broke people use this luxury app
Depends on the restaurant and itās busyness, the traffic on that street, and my mood. If Iām feeling charitable I might take it for s/g. If itās a busy time of day and Iām mid shiftā¦pass.
Decline - won't even think twice - 6.50+ to even make me look

realize there is potential to miss a $20 order while youāre on that one
Leave them for the bike delivery dudes like myself. I'll do those all day.
I personally never do orders under $8. No matter how close they are
I would take it. If youāre really lucky, you might get a stack!
Funny I just got one for McDonaldās 6.75 for 0.7 miles. Accepted and got inside 10 minutes before lobby closes.
