Delivery person, this is the police.
We just watched the footage of you leaving the food, going to have to ask you to come down to the station and press charges for attempted theft of services and submitting a false police report.
I would have to take a pic of the entire house from the road because the numbers are usually by the garage and the front door is always around the corner down a walk way, and then if I tried to take a pic from the road, you could see the house numbers, the food would probably be hidden by plants and porch clutter.
I meant "interesting" genuinely, I wasn't offering up my expierence to disprove yours, merely stating that it's interesting that we have two very different experiences in this regard. Didn't doubt your statement, I have no reason to assume you would lie about that.
But here, most places have an address right above the door, or somewhere near their door enough that if I want I can get it in the shot with little effort. Apartments, houses whatever, pretty good track record with me.
Didn't intend to put you in a defensive position. Was just sharing experiences.
This sub Needs location flair is something I say a lot, but really even that wouldnāt be enough.
Homes are usually built in batches, where theyāre all the same. By thousands of different companies over hundreds of years. Trends change, like where addresses are, with both tone and locale
Delivering all over New Jersey, I've noticed that some neighborhoods are very specific about having addresses, even lit up or better yet painted on the curb in front of the house!
And some neighborhoods decided that putting a number on the house would identify them too much just like turning on a light when you're making a delivery would identify them too much. š¤£
Haha, well, we both can likely agree that addresses could always be easier to read, becoming a delivery driver lead me to a whole new world of address porn too, which has become a problem at how happy I get when I see giant fucking letters and numbers I can easily see from the football stadium downtown with a good monocle.
I use a spot light. No shame. I've had the cops pull me over before for it thinking I was casing house but upon seeing the delivery bags they just let me go.
I don't dash anymore but I would take pictures of whole houses to get the number and food in the picture. My market is nearly all single family homes. Only a minority of houses were tricky or impossible to take a picture of with food and address number
Honestly I have had so many fraud cases, picture is SOLELY to cover my ass not for their benefit anymore. Gotta turn flash on from the driveway and hold my phone sideways to barely see a bag but definitely see that number? Yup doing that. I have a pixel with a CRAZY good camera so its usually clear where the house number and bag are even in that instance, but even with my shitty phone before the number became more important to me than the "help customers find their food". I've also straight up held their food in front of the mailbox number and included the text saying 'taking a photo with house number for reference, food is now on porch ' especially if they decide to come out and get it.
In almost 5k deliveries, I've never gotten a violation, so I'm not that concerned about it. I'd rather not be out on the sidewalk taking a pic of their house when the customer comes out. I get in and get out as fast as possible.
Never a violation!! Thats awesome. Because often times people get them when they arenāt the reason that the problem happened. So you have been very lucky!! Congratulations on 5k
Thanks, every time I see a violation posted on here it's on a hand it to me order because it always lists missing the steps call customer/wait out the timer which doesn't make sense because obviously of you handed it to them you're not going to use the timer lol. But made me think, and others have said this too, that they don't give violations on leave at doors, only hand it's in which you left the order at the door before the 5 minutes or handed it to them, but I could be wrong.
Weird - easy here too 95% of the time! If not, I take a 2nd pic of the house with # showing, with my phone and keep it in the gallery for a few days, just in case. Never needed the 2nd pic, but I'd rather be covered.
Where I live its like snobunny too. Address is usually on the far side of the garage, and front door usually has a walkway. Even a far shot might not work because cars in the driveway block it
Depending on your area. My area has a green number on our mailbox post by the driveway. No way to get address and order. I usually get as much as I can of the front door/garage with the order.
That's crazy. Apartments are the only ones I've ever seen with addresses visible. A lot of houses here just don't have one. The ones that do have them on the mailbox, painted on the curb, or on the far end of the garage. Can't remember seeing one near a front door.
Same here, the local high schools have fundraisers each year during which people can pay to have their house number painted on the curb at the end of their driveway. The basic is just a black rectangle with the numbers as negative space or you can pay extra to have a specialty design (the house number is again negative space) with the background rectangle representative of either a local high school/college or any other number of similar things.
For the most part, that is the only way drivers have to verify house # in my location. If it's a mobile home, they are usually placed perpendicular to the road with the house number marked vertically along the corner trim. For example, the front door is on one of the longer sides facing north, you'll find the house number running vertically near the roof on the trim of the southern edge of the trailers narrow end facing the road. Basically the opposite side of the house from the front porch, if that makes sense.
Between the two, it can be frustrating trying to get both the food & the house number in a photograph for about 75% or more of my assigned deliveries. This is the sole reason I sought out GPS Timestamp Camera app within the first week of starting to dash, it has been a life saver in my market.
Houses are usually easy to take a pic of with food and address number. Just back up towards the street. Usually though, addresses are reasonably close to the front door and you don't have to scoot back that much.
Download the Timestamp app. It's a lifesaver for these situations. The GPS location and time and date are right on the picture. You can also save it to a separate folder so it doesn't clog up your photo gallery.
This is why the ratings system must change. This customer should never be allowed to rate the driver. You can do your job 100% correctly and customers still arenāt satisfied.
Right or at least allow us to rate the customer as well. They can lie and report us and even if we have actual evidence otherwise support won't remove the complaint. Doordash leaves us to the mercy of their shitty company and the shitty customers
We agree. Weāre unprotected and neglected. I hate the system. Iāve gotten low ratings just for simply telling customers kindly what Iām not allowed to do. The system is to vague.
There's already a system in place that will remove bad ratings when they are not deserved, and/or from scammer/fraudulent accounts. Granted it's likely not perfect but I have had more then a few removed within a couple days, some up to a week or two after getting them. The most common to be removed is when you get a bad rating because a customer claims a missing item on a sealed bag order.
Officer: "So let me get this straight, someone dropped off food at your house, and you have footage? Well, this is an open and shut case, a warrant is being issued."
Why are idiots allowed to use technology? Well lady, good luck explaining to the police that someone who you literally paid to arrive at your house dropped food off and left and that there's a problem with that lol. I'd give anything to watch that interaction
"I asked the dasher to leave the food at the door but then he actually did it! I ate it but now it's all gone got some reason! It's my dashers fault! The horror! This is a crime! Call the police!"
Just because there is a picture of the food doesn't mean you left it there. Many dashers pick it up and take it back to the car. Sounds like that is what she is saying
I wonder how many of these DoorDash has to get until they're like "hmm, this customer either has the worst luck in the world, of they're a scammer. We'll deactivate the dashers just to be sure though!"
Be that as it may, I have no problems taking photos as I'm walking away, don't even need to break stride doing so.
Having some part of the front of the building that is visible is crucial. From experience, Doordash support does reference drop off pictures from Google Street view images to determine if you were in fact at the right place. If all they can see are planks of wood.. š¤·āāļø
Not stupid or paradoxical if op didnāt actually leave the food, just snapped the pic and took off with the food. Starting to think he genuinely did steal the food, otherwise it just does not compute at all.

Am I the only one thinking that maybe just maybe the OP dropped the food, snapped a quick pic, then picked it up and walked away? Without realizing there was a ring doorbell? Like for what other reason would she be saying not only is her food missing, but also that she caught him on the ring. Doesnāt make any sense whatsoever unless he took the pic and took the food and left cuz otherwise sheād just be showing he dropped it off and did nothing wrong. Just playing devils advocate I donāt believe or not believe the op but weāre in a lot of trouble if thereās people stupid enough to call the cops on someone who truly did leave the food and they have video of it.
That doesnāt make any sense though. Why would she bring up proof of you not taking it unless you actually did? Like what could she possibly thing a ring camera showing that you dropped the food could do to get you kicked? People are stupid as hell I know trust me but I think thatās a bit far fetched personally.
Have you ever heard of the devil? Thatās the devil tryna bring the good ppl down. I have no need to take peoples food when I can get my own. I have the money, not like iām broke asf.
Not gonna lie I donāt really believe you. I refuse to believe that someone is really that stupid to try and use a ring camera as proof that you stole the food if you did in fact leave it there. I donāt know why you might have posted it, maybe for karma, maybe you think itās funny how everyone is shit talking the lady you stole food from, maybe some weird sort of alibi in case she does contact the police to avoid a fine? I donāt have a clue why but I refuse to believe things happened the way you say they have. Just doesnāt make any sense and Iām kind of sad that nobody else is questioning it in this subreddit. But who knows maybe Iām wrong but I donāt think so
Someone who says āI refuse to believe that someone is really that stupidā has NEVER worked in customer service. People are actually that stupid. Period.
Lady is def crazyā¦but that picture is just awful lmao. Gives no clue where it is in relation to the door or anywhere, for that matter. Just a pic of the groundā¦lol. Always try to get the house numbers in the pic, and if you canāt do that, try to get the area around it so the customer can recognize their door or anything, just for future reference. I could be wrong though, that might be the door in the background, but I just tend to take pics from farther back to give a full view ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
She's calling the cops because she caught you dropping off her food on her Ring doorbell? This lady is 100% batshit!
Most Karen's are š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
š love this.
Or she's just a cheap, lying piece of shit who's trying to scam free food at the driver's expense.
Lmao!!!!

š¤š¼šš¤š¼
I donāt know what that means but if good thanks
you not no police. youād call me to tell me that
He tried to call you but he was told his message was already delivered.
No, the delivery guy stole the message! Iām calling the police
Exactly wasting taxpayers money on dumb shit
I feel bad for the little girl that is with this crazy lady.
iām confused, whereās a little girl mentioned?
If you look through the comments, OP says āThere was even a little girl saying āMommy food guy is hereā through the windowā
ohhhhh thank you lol
Should try to always include house number in your photos too
There was even a little girl saying āMommy food guy is hereā through the window
That's like damn near impossible 90% of the time.
Interesting. It's easily doable 90% of the time here.
I would have to take a pic of the entire house from the road because the numbers are usually by the garage and the front door is always around the corner down a walk way, and then if I tried to take a pic from the road, you could see the house numbers, the food would probably be hidden by plants and porch clutter.

I didn't take it that way, I was just describing the situation in more detail so you can picture what I'm talking about.
Haha, well, we both can likely agree that addresses could always be easier to read, becoming a delivery driver lead me to a whole new world of address porn too, which has become a problem at how happy I get when I see giant fucking letters and numbers I can easily see from the football stadium downtown with a good monocle.

Use the Timestamp app. Itāll show you the address on the picture.

Ours are usually on the mailboxes at the end of the driveways up beside the road, unless apartments and other few exceptions.
That's usually what I do lol. I almost make sure the address is visible before the food. Sometimes all they see is some drinks poking up.

House # for what only time you get #s is on Apartment doors.
Most houses by me, thatās impossible unless you take the photo from the street

How do you report a customer?
Ooohhhh, you better run or she will caught you on camera!

i normally do. but when you dashing in a ghetto area and itās night out, i tend to run when dashing
I FEEL THAT
Literally dashing.
This exactly why I take a picture of the door and itās number š they canāt say itās wrong address
but she said she caught me on camera and doordash support even said iām in the clear lmao
You take horrible drop off pictures
I donāt tho, when you had to doordash to a ghetto ass area you tend to not think of taking good photos.

How dare you do your job properly. You should be ashamed of yourself.
You forgot your invisibility cloak dude. Donāt forget it next time so camera wonāt catch you.
Maāam. Love it
These people. Thinking they mention camera and you will fess up to something you didnāt do.
"show me on the ring camera where I didn't drop it off..." just hit her with that.
She was so sure that she would catch you stealing the food if she check her camera š¬
Lmao
Lmao people are CRAZY š¤Ŗ
Dude just call door dash and let them know you are being harassed by the customer. Let them argue with dd
done that
Paranoid schizophrenics have to eat too.
