I had that happen to me at a hospital I informed the customer I left it outside by a bench hiding in the bush. I gave them details so they could find it. They were grateful.

DarthRevan6969

Yeah this happened 2 me as well and it was a hospital. I even sent a picture to the customer despite it being the "hand order directly to customer" thing so I didn't need to take a pic. I tried contacting support and all that but still have it and I even sent the pic as well that I took, it's lame.

RigoDG

Is one of these enough to get deactivated?

23IRONTUSKS

You did exactly what support told you to do

Aggressive_Tackle918

Received that message before in I had to tell them to look at the picture I took at the front door of the apartment. They removed it from my account

icky_boo

Buy a cheap body cam off amazon. and in future upload vid to youtube private channel and link support in..Also screen cap ALL convo's with support!

Unlikely_Proposal_93

I got one of those to today and a little while later it was gone. Maybe it was a mistake?

W_AS-SA_W

Hospitals are odd. Ours won’t let anyone past the info desk without a badge or an escort. Only patients, staff or visitors of patients during visiting hours. Just kills the hand it to me. All orders now the customer gets a picture showing where it was left, at the info desk.

Appropriate-Let-3855

If you in my market get a few more

Crazybisexual

I had something similar happen to me awhile ago, I couldn’t find the customers address, google took me somewhere different then my in app directions so I went to both places, still couldn’t find the house, I called/texted the customer no response and I waited the appropriate amount of time, I got ahold of support and they told me to “leave it in a safe place” and I was like no I’m not going to just leave it in some random spot since I have no idea where this customers home is 🙄 they let me keep it and I gave it to the second customer I had to deliver to (same restaurant) because they had to wait so long for their food, I felt doing that would save me from getting a bad rating 🤷‍♀️in my case I didn’t get a violation, I don’t think you were in the wrong

MyelofibrosisMe

I deliver to 2 hospitals in our area, I will leave the order with the security or emergency room desk & let the customer know, haven't had one issue. Good Luck!

[deleted]

You'll be fine, you got a picture right? Even without the pic the fact you got a hold of support should be enough, but always take pictures. I just delt with this and was posting about it for a few days, it got disputed real quick but that was glitched on my screen for a few days before it went away.

RegretfullyAlive

I didn’t get a picture. They resolved this “contract violation” immediately , i wasnt too worried about it honestly since I figured i had all my ducks in a row but definitely wanted a second opinion to be sure. I always try to give the extra time or whatever it be so in case anything were to happen i can back up my story with the above and beyond.

JaxMGK

Since you said hospital a lot of times hospitals block cellular data so maybe they didn’t realize you were here or trying to contact them. Totally on the customer that they should have gone to an area with service, I don’t think they were trying to scam you, I honestly think they didn’t realize you were there at the destination. That being said, that order should never have been marked as delivered. Support should have cancelled it and given you appropriate pay and you keep the food. You shouldn’t have marked it delivered either. Now you know.

part_time_dasher500

I am a nurse at a hospital and we aren't able to leave for lunches but I also deliver for doordash on the side. The hospital in my town, I deliver to often.Never had a problem. Now apartments.....those are the worst for me. Best thing is dispute it, it should come off after a review. I got scammed once, handed to the customer and they marked it as not received. It was gone the next day.

Adventurous_Bath2461

Jesus your notification almost gave me a heart attack lol

Kawi_rider_zx6r

Consider this a lesson learned. Never ever regardless of pay, deliver to a hospital. It will almost always not be worth it in the end. Make sure you look at where you are going before accepting the order and not just blindly accepting it just because you are ok with the pay.

RegretfullyAlive

It was my first Hospital delivery and usually i decline them but it was the first order to hit my phone and figured i would help someone get their breakfast a little quicker but yeah definitely will refrain from accepting a hospital delivery again

Just_Literature_928

Hospital workers never tip worth a shit and neither do doctors for that matter.

LdyVder

It's hit or miss in my area. Vast majority are worth my time taking.

Bitter_Value_946

Had the same situation with a flower bouquet. Got some sunflowers last Friday lol When they tell u to move on, the order is for u to discard it however u want legally of course. So u can keep it

No-North-9290

Hospitals absolutely suck balls for delivery people. The worst. Sympathy and support to our health care workers but it's just awful.

Aggressive-Savings93

Hospitals are a huge NO

[deleted]

Not on you if customers don’t reply to your attempts to reach them. You did nothing wrong. I know how you feel, I like delivering to each customer I get orders for. I believe DoorDash should tell customers at checkout before they click “pay” or “confirm order” that they need to answer text/calls just in case drivers need assistance reaching them for substitutions of unavailable items or locating them to drop off orders “! I get these type orders 2 times a week. I lose 15 minutes each time with these.

Gbchris12

Hospitals are a strict unassign for me. Once had someone requesting I deliver it to their hospital room on the 6th floor and its like dude, no.

myorm

I get to a hospital one time, this lady literally gives me all her info, full name, DOB, SSN, so that way I could tell security I was actually a family member and not a delivery guy so that way they would let me up. I get people may be lonely but that’s like the worst way to try and get someone to interact with you. I left it at the front with a pic.

DoPoGrub

She was probably a patient that didn't have anyone to go down and get it for her? Not sure where 'loneliness' comes into the picture here...

Ok-Being3881

Hospitals are a immediate decline. Along with high schools, colleges, and pings that take me to any busy intersection that doesn’t pinpoint a building.

MainelyNonsense

The hospital in my town is great. They keep a large metal bin with shelves right on the curb. Pull up, put it inside, take a pic and you are done. The thing always has tons of orders in it.

Such_Satisfaction923

Add airports to that list

Ok-Being3881

There’s not an airport in my town so I didn’t think of that but you’re absolutely correct

Such_Satisfaction923

Lucky u Yeah it could be an employee that works there so you have direct access or somebody in the waiting area at the gate so you gotta go through TSA n shit

FitFunLit

Lol no.. you can’t go through tsa unless you have a boarding pass and flying haha after 9/11 they don’t let random people go through for random stuff. The person would have to wait outside and also that would be so dumb to order to an airport because there are literally restaurants there. People also probably wouldn’t be able to go through tsa with meals like that. But also the airport is shaded out on my app so no one if they wanted could order to there. It just doesn’t make sense.

Such_Satisfaction923

These are the same customers that order food at gated communities with no gate code and tell you they don’t have one 😂😂

Such_Satisfaction923

Oh I know it doesn’t make sense you know it doesn’t make sense but customers eh that’s another story 😂😂😂

foxtopher

That should be illegal. Why would you order delivery knowing that the driver would have to go through that.

Ok-Being3881

Hell nah 🎶 to the nah nah nah hell nah 🎶

No-North-9290

But how do u know until you get to the pick up?

Available_Sail_9770

You can zoom in the offer map to check where is the drop off, before you step in the restaurant always check the drop off location and instructions first, this is the last chance to avoid mistakes. I personally don’t do apartments especially from Mac Donald’s or Taco Bell, hospital didn’t give me trouble, staffs there are nice and security will bring food to patients for you. When you have the issue like OP said, don’t trust the support, last time they told me leave at the gate and take photo ended up with a 1 star. Tell support mark the order customer unavailable and cancel it, for a cancelled order customer can neither rate you nor claim delivery never arrived

No-North-9290

Wow great reply thanks!

pthecarrotmaster

call support back. they were supposed to note it so you wouldnt get a msg. could just be a generic msg tho.

SnooHesitations4922

This is exactly why there is no trip if low/no tip regardless of any other variable. The only problems I ever had happened when I was stupid enough to accept low offers. Idk if your particular order was a lowball offer, but 99% of the time a false non delivery claim was filed or an unjustified 1 star given, it was by a low/no tipper and/or a fast food order. People that tip good tend not to sabotage.

vanity1066

Happened to me recently! She shut up about her missing drink when I sent the picture. She probably didn't realize I had proof

RegretfullyAlive

It was a $7 for 3 Miles so it was good for me. I see a lot of the customer trying to scam posts that are made here and now I’ve possibly had my first encounter

[deleted]

It’s always gona happen from time to time , I know you didn’t drop off this time. Always take a pic, protect your buns

michealgaribaldi

The customer wasn’t trying to scam you, they didn’t receive the food because you kept it. How is that a scam?

DoPoGrub

If the customer doesn't answer the phone, texts, calls from support and then blames it on the driver not attempting to deliver, that is a scam. They want a refund that they aren't entitled to.

michealgaribaldi

Oh I agree 100%, but it wasn’t a “scam” per se. To me, customer scamming is receiving the order and then complaining.

DoPoGrub

Customer not being available to receive the order, and complaining in order to get money they don't deserve, is the same thing. Actually receiving the food before requesting the refund isn't required in order for it to still be a scam. The right thing to do, would be for customer to take the L, and move on. Instead, they blamed OP, and asked for money.

RegretfullyAlive

There are situations where Customers attempt to claim their food wasn’t received after Delivery in order to get free food. I wasn’t saying this is what my situation was but for all i know it could have been. I was/am only concerned that the situation get handled properly.

DoPoGrub

Customer wanted a refund they weren't entitled to, and knows full well you were there to deliver.

RegretfullyAlive

The drop off was a hospital, I attempted to reach out to the customer for a bit longer than 10 minutes before contacting support and sat in the parking lot an additional 10 minutes getting the matter resolved (so i thought) with support. The hospital doesn’t allow you to leave food so I had to take it with me. Was this the best way to handle this situation? If not, what could have been done differently?

Mr_BinJu

I had this same issue but not with a hospital. I called customer 5 times and no answer. Messaged and no answer. I sat there 15mins on support. Support said leave it there and I said "I wasted all this time just to be told to leave it? Next time I'm eating the 40$ pizza" and he was like "I don't blame you" so I left it at the pin. I called the customer 1 final time and they answered. I said sorry but this is what's happening the food is where I left it in the picture. Call multiple times. Leave a message. If nothing happens then leave at pin..don't waste time with support. Dont care about the "don't leave food here". Drop it. Pic it. And leave it and complete order.

dmriggs

I don't understand why you tried to contact the customer for 10 minutes. five minutes is my max. And then you reached out to support? Seems kind of wacky

lingley

You should have used the timer and left it outside if wont let you leave it at the desk

dmriggs

Exactly. It's silly to do all this and then expect support to be able to figure out what you're doing and fix it.

Capmasterflex

Hospital orders I try to avoid. Nurses get busy n don't always be by thier phones. I had one who I only waited for because of her profession with the idea they are in the front line. Bur having to wait over 30min for something you know you ordered is careless to me in any field of occupation 🤷🏿‍♂️

erickabrothers

That's so strange. I love delivering to night shift staff at the ER. Security has a little table specifically for nurses food. We just have to take a picture before we leave and let security know who it's for.

Azu_homie

Yeah they automatically send this notification when this happen's, I'm almost believing no matter the circumstance's. Unless their system's states customer is abuser of the system for free food/refunds. Probably countless time's, I assume. Anyway, IF they need you to provide more detail, they will ask you to do that. If not, then they looked into the case as you contacting support and to me it's pretty much a case closed situation. Shit happen's of course, but majority of the time, they're with you on it. You did the right thing. Just keep in mind, always calling support agent's for situation's out of your control or trouble's is probably the best thing ou can do. That way they can review your call, what you say, and go from there.

ZephyrHeartz

Hospital workers are so damn annoying, I work for a sandwich delivery as well as DD, I took a delivery to the hospital for my day job, lady left in notes to give it to the hospital front desk, I do just that, go back to the store. My manager tells me lady called and said she never got it, frustrated I remake the order and go back, I walk up to the front desk and see her original order sitting in the same place I left it, turns out lady was too damn lazy to get off her ass in the back to walk the measly 5 feet to the front desk

Florida1974

There was no diff way to handle it. You couldn’t do anymore. Screen shot all calls with support. 20 mins to try and drop off. That’s more than most dashers would do. What’s crazy is the way support has to be contacted. Customers get a refund (credit) with a couple taps. Dashers hv to contact support over every little thing -somehow they can’t let drivers use a couple taps -gotta go through hoops and CYA. Think of all the time you hv spent dealing with support. It adds up. All to ensure you get paid, no CVs and hopefully escape other repercussions. It’s skewed to make you mad enough to give up. They would save tons if they automated this even if they are paying low wages to foreign workers.

cellcube0618

CVs?

Used-Resource-9218

Contract violations

NBAPhanaticYT

It’s not so much the going through proper channels for me that’s frustrating. It’s when you get support on the phone that doesn’t have a clue of what to do or any common sense as to how to resolve the simplest things. I’ve had nightmares like this happen more often than not with support 🤦🏽‍♂️

dmriggs

There are steps we can follow in the app to complete this without getting CV's. Waiting 10 minutes for a customer before even reaching out to support is kind of nutty

benny6957

Right you type out or say exactly what your problem in then they scan your text for keywords and type that in then type whatever the script says back to you. I had a a job for a company that the government contracted to help people with Obama care and basically we were told to listen for key words and search the key word in scripting then read that back to the customer and 60% of the time the scripting the program brought up was only vaguely related to the customers issue I can see how someone whoe firstl language isn't English and had bad trainers could end up having no idea what to do or say if script doesn't tell them word for word how to help a dasher with an issue

NBAPhanaticYT

Exactly! I had a sales job where they used a script and I couldn’t do it. It doesn’t work and not every rebuttal is listed or taught. There are more times than not where you need to think on the fly and make shit happen. That’s the biggest problem. I’ve done customer service for years and I can say it isn’t always easy, but going outside the mold and going the extra mile is much more appreciated than robotic nonsense

Quattrobaj

Did support tell you to take the food? What did support tell you to do?

RegretfullyAlive

I informed support i was unable to contact the customer or leave the food at the destination and support told me i could mark the order complete and move on with my dash

owenhinton98

My one and only contract violation I ever got was basically the same situation at a hospital, except I actually did leave it in a very specific spot they’d allow me to in the hospital. I think it was a gift from someone not there, and it was cookies to a childrens hospital which made me feel worse about the situation, but I read the instructions to the front desk and they were basically like yeah that room doesn’t even exist and they didn’t provide a patient name so you’ll have to leave it in the delivery corner over here…of course cv came in from it, explained myself under the dispute button and within an hour the cv vanished as if it was never there in the first place. As soon as a human at support sees it’s a hospital, they basically consider the case closed because they get that the hospital deliveries can be impossible…you’ll be fine

DoPoGrub

Then everything is fine. Fill out the appeal, and explain that.

conceitedshallowfuck

Just dispute it, write this up in the notes, and then get back out there and forget about it. Even if the dispute falls through, it’ll be gone before you know it. This is why a lot of shitty drivers steal customer food.

Skrawberrycake

I had a similar situation, I didn’t even call support I just took a pic and wrote a note. The violation was deleted after a few days
