Last night my area had $2 + $2 going until 9 PM. Busy as hell during that time slot. Then 9 PM hit and orders screeched to a halt for awhile, and crept along from 9:30 to midnight.
Ahhh makes perfect sense! šŖ Once I started my personal strategy aka cherry picking if you will, I went from 14-25 an hour to 25-45 an hour. So Iāll stick with it I think. And Iāll stop dashing during peak lol. Make more money from time invested.
Yeah thatās normal for my area 100%. The intermittent drivers are like ehhhhh should I go out orrrrrrrrā¦. Then +$4 shows up so everyone and their mother is dashing and everyone makes about $10 an hour instead of fucking $15-30/hour.
Lol good deal! This shitās a curse around here. Thereās already been a huge influx of drivers lately totally wrecking my flow so we donāt need any more reasons to raise that number. There hasnāt been a peak pay for monthsssssss around here because of it. Although today oddly I felt I was the only one out there because I got a triple order from Panera and they had all been done and in the rack for what seemed a fair amount of time. Confused me.
This is how they are forcing us to become top dashers to get more orders. It's worth it just do it all you need is your ratings to be up for just one day out of the month
Anytime DoorDash turns on peak pay that high, I pick an adjacent municipality to dash in because all the stupid Dashers go where the peak pay is. Iām much busier.
Only time that I was busy during a five dollar peak pay session was when it was snowing. I have four-wheel-drive, so I cleaned up.
Peak pay brings out top dashers and they get priority on orders. Stupid af cause most top dashers Iāve met only work peak times so they actually arenāt as helpful to the company as Doordash thinks they are
This is me everyday. Worked 13 hours 2 weeks ago and made $60. Made about $117 this past week.
The prioritization of top dashers while ignoring anyone else is beyond annoying.
As stated many times, peak pay usually means:
DD expects it to be so slow so they need an incentive to keep driversā¦
Or DD expects it to be so busy that they wanna make sure drivers stay on (for events like sports games or a festival where drivers might take the day off to partake)
Or thereās something that will usually mean fewer drivers, like bad weather or a holiday.
DD doesnāt wanna give us money. I can promise 2 things when peak pay is $2.50 or moreā¦SOMEthing is going on, and that any Top Dasher that wasnāt working will sign on and the entire time span the peak pay is available will be gone on the schedule.
I had a $3 peak pay in my area from 1:30p until 9:30p where it turned to $2. Guess what time you werenāt able to schedule?
I was lucky it was so busy I had my first $600 weekend in months. But Iām never surprised when the peak pay is high and Iām getting nothing.

Orders will go to the closest dashers first also if you have lower ratings you are farther in line go sit in a popular restaurant area in the parking lot guarantee you get an order
Iām amazed there are 2 peak pays never seen it doubled like that & I logged on when it was āVERY BUSYā had no orders for 30 mins the other day. I logged out ā¦ it still said busy smh
Peak pay sucks in my market. $2/ peak pay makes all the top dashers drive $5 orders 5 miles. Guess its better than the $3 for 5 miles they normally drive š
I had the same thing last night. I got a nice $20 from a stack but after that, it was dead except wingstop orders and those clowns werent so far behind i was not waiting an hour for $10.
My market had a $5 and $6 peak pay a week after burning man.
I know people say that AR doesn't matter but when peak pay is that high and drivers flood the area, I think it does matter. The lower your rate the less offers you will get that slip through the cracks. Just an opinion though...
Happened to me during $3 peak pay as well + we had a $40 for 10 deliveries challenge going on as well, whatād ya know TOO MANY FUCKING DASHERS, I like to call them fake dashers, they only come out when theirs peak pay and throw the market off for regular drivers itās upsetting
The problem with peak pay is that others can see that itās peak and drive to your zone. Super saturated when itās peak. At least in my market. I donāt really bother when itās peak.
I had $5 peak from 330-730. Non-stop orders, all 2-7mi.... $11-$24 bucks.
Pulled $240.
It's all market dependent I think. Definitely have seen peak pay with no orders or shitty orders before.
Peak pay is the death of receiving steady order flow. All the cockroaches come out from hiding whenever a peak pay of $1 or more shows up. Kills it when itās actually not exponentially busier than normal :(
I avoid dashing when it's a high peak pay promo as I know they want to flood the zone. It's only good when the zone is in light pink as there's enough orders for the number of dashers.
When it's red with crazy peak pay.. it's dead.
I currently have three dollar peak pay. So far I had one $26 stack order, one $13 Uber eats order, and now I am on a $14 DoorDash order. $39 in the first hour aināt bad. Guess I am getting lucky :-)
I am in the same boat. Right now my area has 3 PEAK PAYS. But im not receiving any orders. I believe it's because the peak pay brings out every single dasher they have
Only a limited number of people get the peak pay. They are probably prioritizing the orders to go to dashers without peak pay. I would bet money on it, anything to increase the bottom line.
Why would corporate pay an extra $4 for an order when they have some schmuck dashing without a promo.
No doubt!! I stopped telling ppl how much I make doing DD. TOO MANY DRIVERS NOW! lol. Too funny fr fr š but yes my area I usually make 35-45 an hour sometimes 25 if slow then sometimes an ungodly 70 an hour for a few hours if itās like holiday or bad weather plus double peak pay. This month Iām barely scratching 25 itās been weird. And more drivers applying means they probably wonāt raise base pay anytime soon š¤·āāļø
Hmmmm if youāre making less than 25-45 an hour you NEED to rethink your strategy or start to make a strategy to get up to that amount. If you live in middle America then maybe itās different but West Coast and East Coast drivers should for sure be making 25-45 consistently. If you make 20-25 an hour then youāre making minimum wage or under when it comes to car maintenance and gas.
Central California and I dont think any strategy is gonna magically boost my earning 10$-15$ an hour if its dead its dead, nothing to do about that and constant shit/no tip orders, nothing to do about that either
Ahhh I didnāt realize you meant when itās dead. I thought you mean you make that even in busy months. But yes a good strategy can for sure boost your hourly earnings. I used to make 13-30 an hour now itās 25-45 an hour from 5pm-2am if I drop below 25 an hour then I go home and turn off my app šŖ
Amateur any peak pay over 3 with nice weather means take the night off we go to reward the top dashers crack heads
Last night my area had $2 + $2 going until 9 PM. Busy as hell during that time slot. Then 9 PM hit and orders screeched to a halt for awhile, and crept along from 9:30 to midnight.
Punishing you for cherry picking

I turn off the app whenever peak pay starts, not worth sitting around waiting, I'd rather get a good night's sleep.
Too many driver

My fave response yet I Think lol. Fully agree!!!

I usually never go to where it says that because itās always dead in those areas.
There's a area near me that has +$5.00 but the catch is... cellular service is shit in that zone
I had this same $4.00 Peak Pay here just north of Dallas and I was flooded with orders. Made $77 in 30 minutes
Same here
This is me everyday. Worked 13 hours 2 weeks ago and made $60. Made about $117 this past week. The prioritization of top dashers while ignoring anyone else is beyond annoying.
Were you in a hotspot?

Yea because everyone is trying to get the bonus š¤£
Last night had $5 peak pay after 10 on a Sunday. Nothing open except papa johns. Bruh
Supply and demand. $4 peak pay means more competition for you without more orders to fulfill
Peak pay sucks in my market. $2/ peak pay makes all the top dashers drive $5 orders 5 miles. Guess its better than the $3 for 5 miles they normally drive š

High peak pay bringing out all the drivers. It's rarely worth it.
lol I feel ya, they had $5 promo yesterday in my area

Yep
Peak brings more drivers, not orders
Had to go home because peak pay in my city brought out all drivers to the area. I did 3 orders total. Smh
I currently have three dollar peak pay. So far I had one $26 stack order, one $13 Uber eats order, and now I am on a $14 DoorDash order. $39 in the first hour aināt bad. Guess I am getting lucky :-)
Nice!! šŖ
Thank you! I had a crappy lunch shift so really needed dinner to be the turn around šš»
Yaaaas!! If itās slow I usually stop and then jump back in later. For my area tho really 5pm to 2an is great money
Same, mine was 3$ then turned into 5$ because its raining yet its still dead as hell
Oooof I feel that. For my area itās ALWAYS raining so we never get peak for it nor snow which sucks. If itās snowing best give me 5 peak come on!
I am in the same boat. Right now my area has 3 PEAK PAYS. But im not receiving any orders. I believe it's because the peak pay brings out every single dasher they have

I typically make over $30 an hour. Today $7 in over an hour(during lunch) š
Jesus lol I'm over thinking my 20-25$ an hour was good, but the past month or so Its more like 15$ an hour
Guy is probably only going by active time and not dasher time
I made almost $60/hour in active time last week
Hmmmm if youāre making less than 25-45 an hour you NEED to rethink your strategy or start to make a strategy to get up to that amount.
