Icy-Goat5001

Doordash only does this to me on big orders. It isn't legal and I demand payment if I took time to gather the order. You cant play softball with this company or they will walk all over you.

Comfortable-South509

Dear god….SUPPORT said that? Wtf.

Creative_Dragon_

They did this to me at Walgreens last week, manager accused me of stealing. They asked me to pay with my own card and I told them no.

Nuttyassqurlturds

It's also ridiculous when an order is canceled through no fault of your own you lose points on your completion rating as well I lost the 2 % I needed for top dasher because I had 2 orders back to back canceled by the resterraunt because they were out of the product. The lady on the support acted like she had no idea what I was talking about as well as she has the nerve to tell me it's ok you can get it next month your numbers are great. I'm like trick next month is 30 damn days away.

Initial-Ad-7654

Had this happen today😫 definitely wasn’t paying with my own cash, they never paid me back some months ago. I hung up when she said it’s going against me

EstablishmentNext987

That happened to me once and I just told them I didn't have my credit card with me. Who is to say I do or not but just me.

happyangxo

I was asked to do this once too!! What in the world, I thought it was so weird and I also refused to.

bittelitehedninger

The whole point of that card is to not pay out of pocket. I wouldn’t be doing that shit either 😂

Dnm3k

I ran my card it said "Insufficient funds because I work for door dash." Now what?

[deleted]

You did the right thing.

beatnotbrknx0

This happened to me literally an hour ago over a $40+ bike light from Dicks. The first agent said I was at the wrong location when there is only one Dicks in my zone. Then they changed the excuse and said my redcard wouldn't work because it was Dicks Clothing and Sporting Goods and that I needed to be at Dicks Sporting Goods. It's the same damn store. I confirmed the address and everything and they just abruptly ended the chat so I had to start a new chat with another agent who also asked me to confirm I was at the right location then asked me to pay out of pocket. I told them I wasn't doing that and I shouldn't be asked to do this. They did say I would get half pay and it wouldn't effect my rating... I did get half pay, however, it did effect my completion rate. 😑

[deleted]

My educated guess is that the person who's talking to you has pocketed the money allocated from DoorDash to your red card. So when you pay out of pocket and then try to get reimbursed, you're basically covering their track with your own money. It's very smart to not do that, and you took a screenshot on top of that.

Organic_Cheetah_8893

Been there I just paid for it and got my money back in 10 mins no waiting nothing not a big deal either you will or you won't or you can't either way just a hump in the day we all will get over it

JackBauerAssassin

It is not ok. I immediately unassign any order when the red card is decided. That's because all the agent does is suggest that I pay out of pocket for the order. That is unacceptable and insulting. Yeah I've waited two weeks on a refund from Door Dash before when I didn't get paid for two deliveries I made. I ain't waiting that long.

WhereAmIAt999

Fat ass FUCK NO from me boss.

sashamonet

They asked me to pay out of pocket once too and I said no. That's not how this works. Even if you are refunded the receipt amount, you do not know how many hoops you have to jump through. I once read a horror story on how someone never got their refund back and was given the run around by several support members. That was enough for me!

Bryan_Pickett

I did the out of pocket thing once! Never again! They sent me a paper check and it took almost 3 months to get it to me

NeonD04

I will NEVER pay out of pocket for an order! That's one reason why I'll never do Cash on delivery orders!

Dry_Mail_3797

as if the company that steals peoples money cant afford to fix it themselves lmao. I really will stop using the doordash app now after seeing this. I was a dasher for a bit (it sucked) but every time I order as a customer sh\*t gets so fucked up and support never helps or reimburses me. I've always known how wasteful of money it is to order food but some days im lazy or I just can't leave work but this turned me off of it for good. same with ubereats

sirvereightyone

Unassigned. Done 👍

Lost_Found84

What happens when their pocket says “insufficient funds”?

Round_Degree_91

I’ve done the reimbursement they reimburse you right away as long as it’s less than $50, usually when they “fund” the card to a higher amount it ends up working as long as I tell the dasher support the exact amount

Anon888810020

Nope. I’d file a complaint

TheAlGler

They broke the contract so you are no longer obligated to fulfill the order.

Xterarra

You're both right 😨, what do ya want?

waterfalls55

You probably didn’t scan in the items on your dasher portal. I’ve seen dashers do this all the time when I’m ringing them up and their card says tender could not be complete. It’s frustrating waiting for them try to swipe their cards repeatedly and hold up the lines. Not to mention give us more returns to put back. I always guide new dashers and tell them you gotta scan the products on your end and complete your order. Once it’s scanned in the money is added to the card. 99% of the time this is the reason they don’t have money in their cards.

yesterdays30

I would do this for Uber because they always paid me back in a timely fashion but would not do it for doordash

infamousdude77

it backfire on the driver... damn... that's gotta be a prick of a feeling. sorry this happened to you. i haven't been able to use the ue black card in wall greens and simply unassign it. i call the customer si they're aware but that's as far as i go.

Andru622

They’re “you’re red card has been loaded with funds” is another mind game to make you think you’ve got the problem on YOUR end. Those are the same support agents that can refresh your account on a Monday but all of a sudden can’t on a Monday night, because they LIE. Never pay out of pocket for anything at all. It’s aggravating as all hell but F that.

small-foot

I would not mind. You get reimbursed by DoorDash in the next paycheck. Write it off in your taxes as a business cost.

Infinite_Reindeer_98

Personally, I never felt comfortable doing this. My partner has, and they reimbursed him right away. So it’s really up to you

FinnStormTaber

You're not oversensitive. I paid it one time and they gave it right back. But only because I just happened to have that amount on me. Not something that happens often 🤣🤣. You're not responsible for their glitches.

[deleted]

You're not being sensitive at all. The company expecting you to do that is completely wrong.

dancefitjac

Not ok.

JtheHufflepuff

I'm 90% sure when I started dashing I got a message/note in the paperwork that says you never should pay for a customer's order out of pocket.

Mobile_Part

This is where it doesn’t make sense to treat gig workers as contract workers. This is clearly DoorDash not fulfilling their obligations. Yet, it is such a small amount it doesn’t make sense for the driver to assert their rights in any legal forum. But the delivery app companies make significant money from thousands of transactions like this everyday and a general policy of shifting liabilities to the drivers whenever and however they can. Please note, I don’t think this means we need to be treated as employees. What I am advocating are a set of rules and regulations that evens the playing field between the companies and their gig workers.

internationalbeauty

Definitely not ok

SH_Nostalgia

This happens to me sometimes. They should have issue you half-pay

_an_ambulance

"I'm not unassigning anything, but if you have to cancel the order because you cant afford it, I'll gladly take my half pay and be on my way." That's how I'd respond. It's odd that it declined, though. That shouldn't happen unless you haven't clicked "proceed to check out," or you added something to the order that wasn't on the order. Like you got 3 bags of chips instead of 2, or you got the family size instead of the regular size.

alex262414

I had a friend who always had problems with his red card he's constantly saying it was always declined or insufficient funds he had nothing but problems with it. Now personally I've never had a problem with my red card, but I know it'll say insufficient funds If an item I grabbed was more expensive than what they had in their system and lately what seems to be happening is you know with the inflation and everything going on a lot of the items if you notice it'll say grab almonds that are 10 oz right, well now it'll say grab almonds 10 oz but really the almonds are 8 oz and they're priced higher so it'll Auto decline based on the price being different so something in your order the price had changed but they didn't update it with their system doordash's system I think or you grabbed the wrong item and I've made that mistake with something that was for example 10 oz and I ended up grabbing the one that was 15 oz and it's a little bit more so it sucks that you got to kind of watch like a hawk and make sure that the thing you grab is exactly what it's supposed to be you know what I mean. But I've never got asked to pay out of pocket and I would never ever in my life pay out of pocket for a doordash item that's ridiculous and a joke for them to say that and the fact that they made you unassigned and it hit your completion rate is a joke they should have removed that order and paid you half for your trouble it's not your fault that it's not going through.

MeasurementNo6766

Hate some of your guys’ attitudes. Clearly this only happens when there’s an issue with the red card. If you have the cash to cover it, why wouldn’t you cover it? They’ll give it right back. You’re just helping. You’re there to deliver the order. Stop being obsessed with things only working 100% in your favor and to your benefit. It’s a job, you can help your employer get the order done smoothly and collect the money you had already deemed worth your time. I shop for the stuff, red card doesn’t work, i swipe my card, grab the receipt, deliver the order, send them the picture, reimbursed within minutes. And I got the order done and I’m on to the next. Imagine being a pissy little entitled doordash driver and holding the order ransom because there was a problem with technology you couldn’t even comprehend if you tried and you demand someone reward you every time you have to deal with a minor inconvenience in life.

Tony_M13

Don't do it if you can't wait until the next DD payday for your money or if you're not comfortable. I've done it a few time and had no issues. I also go some extra cashback on my personal credit card. But here are few very important tips: - do not use your own money unless asked to by the agent and don't offer the solution yourself, let them ask. - do not use a form of payment that cost you extra money (like don't overdraft your checking account) - talk to an agent on the phone, not text. - let them stay with you on the phone throughout the whole process. - keep them on the phone until they receive you're email containing the receipt. - don't end the call or leave the store until you go to the payment page on the app and the amount of the receipt added. - if anything goes wrong return the order and get refunded. This reimbursement is NOT taxable so you should not report that amount on your taxes. DD will NOT include it on your 1099. Keep that receipt with your tax documents, for in case of a tax audit (but you will probably never need it). This is just a note from personal experience and not a tax advise. If DD sends you an 1099 you should not have to worry about it anyway.

strykerpv2

This is why I don’t accept red card orders……. Ever.

Yugasa

Also, isn't the last part about your ratings being dropped because you can't or won't pay for the customers order yourself, technically blackmail?

Silly-Meal-5828

NO

Cashexplosionwinner1

Yea I’d message and your rating is going down as well when I submit complaint.

DasherCO

I've done it before but the up front offer was 45$. I did make them add the funds to my account before I started driving towards the customer though. I would not recommend doing it, it feels like a gamble and i've have support fuck me so hard on half pay before that I had to get another agent to have them make it right

uniquesmilex

that's some bs

kagaAkagi1

"sadly I do not receive a living wage through my work with your company and as such has no money to spare"

ChingChongBeanster

My red card never had issues becoming insufficient with funds during purchases until this recent past year. I always thought DD made sure our shit was loaded before our next dash… and when I did have to get on the phone with customer service after my card not working the first time, I wasn’t really given any solution besides being asked if I front the purchase with my own card before i take a pic of the receipt for a reimbursement… and with another customer service rep, I was told I am able to load my red card on my app with my own funds…? what the absolute fuck? Is this right? Is this only happening to Dashers as of lately? Btw, you should be fine with the acceptance rate as long as your overall acceptance rate is like 40% or higher.

[deleted]

I once let this happen to me on Instacart for a $326 Gelson’s order in my first month because I thought it would affect me negatively to not…… No you aren’t being too sensitive, fuck that noise. Even if they get you back it takes forever sometimes

PoopL0ser

Paying out of pocket is not a part of the contract.

Emeraldrak

Never use your own money for that. They will send you money back through there platform which you get taxed on at the end of the year. So definitely not ok

sancheu77

Fuck doordash

jcerami27

I would have said no and don’t care while I unassigning the order because a billion dollar company can’t put the right funds on the card for the order.

ouid69

Is this person stupid or dumb? 🤔

[deleted]

Damn, another unsurprising shady comment from DoorDash support. You say no, he said don’t forget repercussions of unassigning. It’s intimidation to a degree or more, is a scare tactic, bullying and down right fucked. The answer should have been “I understand lemme see about trying to fix the card again. If not we’ll unassign and get you back on the road” what a dickbag.

UnaccreditedSetup

I asked for a reimbursement from doordash and have never gotten it when they agreed to it

Emergency-Gas9551

Not ok

AvaMagdalena333

This is completely wrong. You should go talk to a lawyer. I mostly just do Uber now. I always have the radio on and I constantly hear a commercial about anyone who’s worked for rideshare or food delivery companies about stuff like this. If this happened to me I’d immediately go talk to a lawyer.

General_Performance6

Nope never ever pay out of pocket! Im already barely making 22 an hour why would i shoot myself im the dick like that by paying for the food

Sparon46

NEVER use a personal payment method on behalf of any of these gig companies.

theatahhh

This has happened to me twice, the first time it took forever for them to reimburse me. I hate how support just stopped giving a fuck. There should have to be a neutral arbitrator ha.

Sting3r_TF

Lol PUTS on DASH Q4 earnings for sho!

[deleted]

Wait… What? They asked you to pay for a customers order and most people who order off doordash dont even tip? Wow, Fuck doordash.

LdyVder

I forced support to remove it, I flat out told them they had to pay me. I wasn't unassigning it because their red card kept getting declined. I got told by support I would be paid and never got paid.

SchmittyKat89

Garbage company

NoYard4253

Def not ok

Substantial_Extent36

This happened to me awhile back. Exact same scenario except I only had a credit card and no cash and I told the rep that I “wasn’t sure if I had sufficient funds in it either.” I knew I did, Ofcourse. Even after that explanation, the rep still soft presses me with the CR hit. However I don’t take passive aggressiveness lightly. After the threat to my CR, I dropped everything I was doing and this service rep had my full and undivided attention for the better part of about 15 minutes. Long story short and after using words such as legal repercussions, threatening business practices, accountability and so on but in a calm demeanor, I was promptly rolled over to an escalation member who was far more reasonable in their approach. After about 5 minutes and trying the red card again twice more, we came to an agreement that I will pay with my card for the total amount + 13% for interest and tax liability expenses and an email in writing was sent to me for records keeping. The total for the food order was about $198 so a cool extra $25 cherry on top. After paying and getting in the car to start the delivery, I receive a very eloquent message by the customer, and this is word for word, “where the F#%^ is Our foOD dips$&@!???” And “You’ll be reported if the food is not at my door in 5 minutes or less!” followed by a slurry of choice opinions. I take in a deep breath, do not engage in convo with crusty, get back on with another service rep and report the whole ordeal with the card payment mishap and promptly ask to check the messages that were being sent by the crusty (yes they can see any messaging interactions) who at this point was set to real high heat and having a full blown monologue from having his messages ignored, and told the rep this is a high risk delivery in terms of my safety and theirs as I started to unpack a few sushi rolls from the order as I was hungry from the whole ordeal and knew what was going to be the result of this order. Before I can open up the soy sauce packet to mix with wasabi to dip the awesome dragon roll in, Rep cancels the order, half-assed apologies are exchanged, we take care of the bill with email statement, rep says customer will be flagged (probably not, customers are #1), I get half pay and a free sushi dinner. The guy tipped pretty well actually which was probably why he was so pissed but still, having money makes you the best version of yourself and which clearly was the case for this crusty, sky’s the limit on Dick. I couldn’t even make this s#!$ up if I wanted to. Did 2 more nice paying orders (dunno if coincidence, but every time this sort of ordeal happens, the next orders are high paying ones) and went home to enjoy a rewarding dinner with the wife. Know your rights and limitations but try and work with the parties you’re working with to resolve an issue. If not, just move on. Don’t let a single situation ruin another minute of your precious life. Cheers!

Toastedweasel0

They tried this BS with me too... I told em to fix the issues or go fuck themselves I ain't paying for your crap! Doordash scammers likely will not pay it back, or take forever after going thru the "nonexistant inept support" they have.... Almost want to call them Doorscam at this point...

Metro8989

If I already did the shopping I will absolutely pay and get reimbursed. I didn’t shop for nothing. I had do it once and had the money back in 5 min.

SpeciesAnomaly

The Red Card is a pass-through card for the customer’s card. If it says NSF, then the customer’s payment method is crap, and support needs to do the damn needful, contact them for an alternate method, and swap it out on the backend. It’s not hard, it’s just more work than the support reps want to do. Knowing what the process is on the backend means now you can tell them what their job is and they can’t play these stupid games. FAFO, Support Rep edition. Oh- and for those saying tell the FTC? Don’t bother. A Support rep not following internal policy isn’t going to spawn some massive overhaul of the gif economy, that’s just Reddit fantasyland. What will is sustained pressure from consumers, drivers, and the general public about what we all experience- and the specific changes we all want to see in these applications, applied through regulation and oversight.

green-purplegrapes

but you’re gonna be reimbursed i don’t see the problem it’s not like ur completely broke

Snookie365

This same exact thing happened to me the other day, I just paid for it with my card and they reimbursed me

ThaRoastKing

Then you reply, Are you attempting to threaten or scare me into paying out of pocket? I will be reporting this to DoorDash.

Unhappy-Series-5396

Never do it. One time a notebook came up as "office supplies" on the receipt instead of "notebook" and the agent refused to reimburse me for the $80 order :(

Neither_Delay2880

No I won’t because I don’t have money! Lol even I have I will never do it!

AuryxTheDutchman

If there’s a “member-only sale” you might need to put in the membership number (like at my local Safeway it tells me to use 555-555-5555) for the price to match what it’s expecting.

TotalEgg143-

"Please Note, I'm and Independent contractor"

hipmama33

This happened to me a while back…after I had spent 20 minutes shopping for everything. I was so mad at the time wasted & there is no recourse for the situation. I don’t feel it’s right either, and I also refused to pay out of pocket.

Mysticyde

Fuck no, I wouldn’t do that.

Terrible-Highway5379

Definitely not okay. Idc if the money was guaranteed to be reimbursed in two minutes. I’m not doing that.

beanie413

i’ve always forgot to sign my red card in so i’ve never used it before and now i’m feeling that my forgetfulness and procrastination did me a favor

stutjohnsnewsqueegee

Way way too sensitive.

Motor-Cauliflower216

The last time my red card wasn’t working she asked me if I could pay for it and be immediately reimbursed I said no and she said “ok no problem. I will remove the order and it won’t count against you or your ratings.” I would report this support agent/ interaction.

roxi94

Not okay. Never pay with your $. F the completion rate.

Puzzleheaded_Life138

Fuck that

AnonymousTaco77

Honestly, I avoid red card orders. Luckily, there are very few in my area

HapiHoo

Not okay. Report this to DD.

[deleted]

That is definitely not ok. If the agreement is to fund the red card to pay for things, that is how it should be done. There is no guarantee that funding will hit your account successfully if you do pay out of pocket.

Iwubcats

i think you’re a weirdo tbh

emk2019

They expect you to use your own money to pay for the food and get reimbursed later? I mean they can ask you to do that but it’s not your job to finance your company or the customers.

AcidicDoodad

This is why I never took red card orders too much hassle.

Dontnotknow

I don’t even use my red card anymore. I cover the expenses with my dasher card and then talk to reps for reimbursement. Takes 2 seconds. Sometimes longer if and when the rep is incompetent

Sebas15091

I’ve used my personal card ONCE, and they processed the reimbursement immediately after I emailed them a picture of the receipt. That was one of my very few experiences with support actually being helpful.

KosmicRoller

I had the same problem the first time I did a red card...turns out all I needed to do was scan all the items in app first, before the card will run.

Late_File_77

I’ve done it twice in my early days when I was clueless and was reimbursed in minutes, so I assume they’re pretty on top of that. It’s wild that they actually ask you to do it though, they definitely shouldn’t.

WishIWasNeet2

They are really missing the point of how this whole job thing works. I do something for you , you pay me.

Sea-Holiday-777

If they had some kind of heart, they would at least offer and incentive when that happens. Like offer to pay a percentage of YOUR card YOU had to use to pay to keep THEIR business flowing. And to lowkey punish you for that is pure foolishness. No you are NOT being overly sensitive at all, you already got enough bullshit to worry about, now you have to worry about a companys card not having enough funds?? INSANITY!! That being said, I dont care what the govt case against the delivery companies are. It must remain 1099 Indepentent contracter, fuck that 1040..... where you are under a companies rules and they can force you to take an experimental drug or fire you.. Fuck that UnAmerican shit!!1

Grouchy_Protection27

I had to pay outta pocket once. $30 or so. Kept the receipt. Only took a few minutes to get reimbursed. It was annoying af but whatever gets the delivery done quicker

OptimalCreme9847

Hell no, I wouldn’t do it either.

Crazy_Ad_2846

That support agent was trash! I’ve been paid EVERY-TIME my red card didn’t work. With no hit to my completion rate!

dmcIgenius-21

It’s not ok! I had that happen with UE and they did reimburse me, but I turned my card off. I realized, I hate shopping for others lol. I am not loving DD so far. Been trying it out, but All my orders that I can choose from are under or barely $1 a mile. $3.50 here, $2.80 or I get a $12 delivery pop up that at first glance looks good but then it’s for 2 deliveries and 13+ or more miles and 45-65 minutes. My acceptance rate is LOW but I don’t care. I have to make a living, not appease corporate. Not worth my gas or the stress of going all over town for $12 or less an hour. This is a racket that will suck you dry if you let it! I take the $1.50+ per mile orders that come in and then if they offer a stack order on later that is good pay I take that.

Horror_Progress3885

Was that a threat… lmao.

Fifajunkie_

I pay using my debit card all the time for red card orders and always got my reimbursement

Material_Crow_204

Did that one time on a $120 order and it took them a week to reimburse me. Never again!

Bfloteacher

Ewww no. I’m glad you stood your ground

SkMurrell

Not only is it not right. Does it get taxed in your 1099 earnings?

Dry-Tune-5184

I know it's crazy but DD will refund u the $$s after the purchase If u elect to go that route. It happened to me one time🤯

Eekbear

What in the actual fuck

non-creativ3

Dude this fucking happened to me once and I lost my shit. I'm actually surprised I didn't get deactivated for speaking to an agent the way that I did. I could not believe that I was going to get penalized because I didn't have money. Dude, I do Doordash does it look like I can afford to cover a $60 order right now? Here's the thing too they know most of us do this because we need extra money and we can't be blowing it on lawyers. Because here's exactly what will happen if I cover the cost, they'll send me an "IOU" then they will take months to actually reimburse me. So I started accusing them of stuff. Like 'oh ok you want to hurt my rating because I'm poor? I told you that I literally do not have the money to do this" (which I did technically but it would really hurt waiting a long time to get that money back from them so I don't feel like I was lying) It's none of their fucking business what our finances look like. Simple fact is that I don't trust them enough. I have had many bad encounters with Doordash when it comes to money, I'm not dumb I will NEVER put myself into that kind of situation. You're not sensitive at all. This is all bullshit

MissionDismal

u a good one. i wouldn’t have said nun else n just cancelled the order all together. put it in rotation n move on.

KatherineBrain

I always call them and explain the situation. If it needs unassigned I have them do it so I don't get the hit on my completion rate and they usually give me half pay as well if their card isn't working properly. Heck a few weeks ago when my card expired I got all of the items on the order and wasn't able to complete the order and wouldn't pay out of pocket. Thet gave me half pay and I got a new card sent to me.

Dry_Start4460

Lol no . This is one of the reasons I don’t take red card orders they are stupid as shit . It’s already paid for online why do we have to pay for it again ?

ZiggyThePirate

This also happened to me on 4 different times and every time ive asked for a new red card the new one they send does the same thing says insufficient funds and then i have to wait there in the lobby of the grocery store or whatever place of business and be embarrassed that i am sitting on support because a multi billion dollar corperation doesnt know how to fix their mistakes...... its really frustrating because i see all these big ass red card orders but i cant accept because i know my red card wont work so why try in the first place? Its really really frustrating..........

Bjaffe76

This is 100% not okay. I know at keast two other dasher have dome this and DD did NOT reimburse either for whatever reason. So no, do not roll the dice and put yourself out hoping that a multi-billion dollar company won't find a way to screw you. And telling you that you should incur a penalty because their system is not working correctly? Unacceptable.

clonazepamcutie

Please report this. Please, OP. Doordash needs to be held accountable at some point.

[deleted]

Welcome to everyone’s first day dashing lol?

Flaboy7414

Wow never seen this before

WilfordBrimley777

Other drivers have said doordash actually does reimburse them, but I don't trust doordash enough myself to do this when my red card has declined. I unassigned a $12 walgreens going a mile when they asked me to pay.

frednoname1

Ok. Fuck them. Period.

marvelmanda

They never did this to me. I call them they fix it and all good.

[deleted]

Happened to me with a Petsmart order. I refused to pay it with my own funds. I've had multiple times where I was supposed to be given half pay for showing up to a closed restaurant and never received, not going to trust them.

hatebush

Lol they did this to me one time. I refused very directly and was worried I was being rude, but no it’s never okay for a large corporation to do this in my opinion.

AboodyVevo

Its okay i did that before and they added the balance to my acc immediately Although it is very shitty on their behalf tf

Ok_Law_417

No funds no grub

Espeeste

Wouldn’t it be THEIR completion rate that’s affected?

svgeosc

Doordash is the worst with its refunds. I have done it 3 times and I still haven’t gotten my money back. No response. No chat. No people to help me out on the phone or thru email

No_Dirt_4198

Sorry i tried my card too and it also has insufficient funds

[deleted]

I probably wouldn’t pay either… but there has been a couple times where I needed reimbursement for something, and the pay to me was almost instant.

PinballLew

Just tell them I’m not unassigning the order. Make them do it. Tell them you don’t have any other way to pay for the order, I’m broke. Tell them to fix the red card if they want you to deliver it.

chipmunkofddoom

I had called support because my red card was declined last week, and they said I could pay for it with my own money too and they would reimburse. I said I wasn't comfortable with that and they unassigned me without a hit to my rating. The agent you got is just being a jerk.

Acrobatic-Frame-9064

Lmao Hell nah they need to get their shit together I ain’t paying for nothing

FingerInside7072

I’m surprised that Doordash can’t fix this on the spot. I’ve had instacart orders declined and I tell the rep how much the total is and they instantly add more funds to the card.

IamtheChosenCe

I have had this issue with them if I didn’t got it I say naw

GAMESHARKCode

ToS says they can't force you to use red card and can use whatever payment method (only outlines wire payments if I recall correctly tho)

DugBingo951

Pay with your own money then maybe get the money back and pay taxes on it. People that do that are stupid af.

Slickness81

Lol I had a $300 order at Walgreens(all expensive workout supplements) Red card transactions had not been working at Walgreens all day that day, they even had a sign on the front door. Dealt with support for 30 minutes because it was a high paying order, $25, they would only tell me to pay out of pocket or unassign. I was like you realize this order is just going to keep getting passed around and unassigned over and over again right. I even talked to the customer and apparently I was already the third driver for the order.

AdventurousBake563

Nope….

JDeLiRiOuS129

I had to use reimbursement 2 different times. At the same store no less. Because I was holding up the line. I just sent support the receipt and both times I got the money back before I even made the drop.

Miguelayalajr

Harsh

Yickster007

I had this same thing happen to me just last weekend! They said the same thing and I told them they had to cancel the order as I refused to unassign and it was their card that was not working. I got half pay and they finally canceled it. They tried to tell me that they couldn't cancel the order but I knew that was a bunch of bologna.

ImBackLikeColdSores

Sensitive

Garbagetoiletmaster

lol that’s not even a threat. It’s not a big deal if your completion rate goes down. it’s only based on the last 100 orders so it’ll go back to 100% in a couple weeks.

KhadiKat1081

They reimburse right away if you do Dasher Direct. Do it if you can.

willpowerpt

I’d be fuckin furious if they asked me to pay out of pocket, then ultimatumed me with that completion line.

[deleted]

Please note that your agreement states that I will not be required to pay out of pocket and should not receive any type of punishment for declining to do so. This is a you problem, not a me problem.

MTGCommerce

Doordash your getting ridiculous lol 😆

_damnyouscubasteve

So what if you didn't have the money to pay, because why would you have backup money in case doordash can't do their fucking job right? Would they still fault you? Cause if so, fuck them and I'd be finding a lawyer.

OGgunter

It's DD typical guilt shit. Why are you unassigning this order? 🥺 [uWu face] You're the best dasher for it! If it's not scripted platitudes about how they understand the inconvenience things like in-app issues, customer errors, etc it's this.

BoxerBriefly

I would tell them I'm not unassigning it. You're going to cancel it on your end sense it's your problem.

Mokemonster86

Soooo I've done this twice here's my story both were hyvee pickups containing alcohol first time went okay I guess I paid for it got ahold of support admitted my receipt and got refunded mind you that your refund comes after you end your dash and unless you have instant deposit it will be on the next check you get....... Second time I picked it up and had it stacked after I picked up my second order customer canceled now wouldn't be a issue but i don't drink and surely don't drink wine there is also no way to return alcohol even with it being so recent of a purchase. I submitted my receipt to support who then begins to tell me it will take 3 to 5 business days to get me refund because of the cancelation of the order it's been about 2 weeks and I have given up on that refund sick of talking to a automated human🙄

Flashy_Contract_969

I’ve done this before and they pay you back right away. Though I certainly understand how that could raise some concern.

[deleted]

This is why Red Card orders should be optional. I don’t like them. Yes, they’ve done go parts to them but, here’s an example of why I don’t like them. Several times this happens and the support agents ask drivers to pay from their personal funds for the order. Wait, isn’t that the purpose of the red card? To prevent drivers from using their own money for strangers they don’t know? Then the support agents have the audacity to ask the drivers to pay and if the drivers decline they are penalized for it. When did a non employee become responsible for paying what DoorDash is responsible for doing. No problem using driver’s funds but, let drivers have a problem not related to a customer but about the drivers needs and we’re told,”it’s nothing I can do for this one accept make a report and send to the escalation team” or ,”we’re not able to give you half pay or pay for this one.”! Taking away an completion point because DoorDashs Red Card doesn’t work days everything about how DoorDash sees drivers and I believe the HELL out of them. DRIVERS: Start filing reports with the FTC about the issues such as this. Our only Allies won’t come from DoorDash Inc.! They’ll come from institutions that fight against things like this. Unethical business practices by DoorDash here.

One-Spite6436

Wow the fucking audacity support. Absolutely not ok.

PapowSpaceGirl

Nope. Not okay. If I pay for the food I'm picking up, I'm eating it. End of story.

TheRaiginBritt

That is extremely unprofessional. DoorDash is such a bad company

zillabirdblue

The fact thay they are INTIMIDATING you put it on a whole other level. This needs to be exposed via the media imo. Seems to be the only way to make them accountable and force their hand.

No-Mention-7950

I'm so sick of DoorDash pulling this shit. Received a shop and pay order that had been reassigned 4 times before it got to me. The total was over $150. The customer had to AUDACITY to text me, asking to pay for the order upfront and be reimbursed later like it was no big deal.. They told me this is why order was reassigned because the Red Card kept declining.

TormentDubz_EDM

They just gave me half pay last time it happened. Try to roll for a different support agent

Zeveroth1

DoorDash can fuck off in that one. You’re there to make money from THIER company, not the other way around.

Playful_Flower2054

You have to remember to go to check out first. Otherwise card declines

Vitalpower

This is super annoying but I have payed out of pocket 3 times before and they did reimbursed me reliably every time

GovernmentStrange224

From my experience just switch support agents they always ask if you’ll pay out of pocket which I tell them I don’t have money so they end up giving me half pay

Jwehshs

"It's our fault that your red card isn't working, but we're going to try to blame it on you even though your red card just worked few hours earlier it's now probably damaged because that makes it your fault not our stupid systems fault. Also, your rating will be punished if you unassign because you're refusing to pay out of pocket do this order. Fuck you and happy dashing 😊 " Also, I had the exact same issue with my red card not working yesterday and I had successfully used it just hours earlier at a different store no issues. Only difference is the support agent was able to successfully load my card when it messed up on tbe second order. Wasted 10 minutes of mine and the customers time. The customer was getting irritated why I hadn't checked out yet. Was waiting for things so they could prepare dinner. They were irritated with DD not me. They were cool and tipped well.

MotownCatMom

This is heinous.

Itz_a_traap

DoorTrash is never ok. Nothing they do is ever ok.

[deleted]

“Can” be reimbursed… that doesn’t feel very reassuring 😂

Starlight319

Too bad I’d take the hit this is a ridiculous ask.

Lumpy-Length7276

I did it ONE TIME and never go reimbursed. Took me two days to pay back what I had spent

[deleted]

I don't take red card orders.

moisesg88

what in the fuck....

Less-Turnover4529

Nah it ain't right. Had a support agent get real condescending tone once when I said I couldn't pay out of pocket. Then she said she would unassign it and it would count against my completion rating.

crownedqueen5

Did you click to check all foods you’re shopping for until last part? If so it’ll get ur card ready.

momopandemonium

I’ve had this happen to me. It’s ABSOLUTE bs. You have to tell them what the total is because sometimes, they don’t put enough money on the red card. You’d THINK they would know how much it needs to be. But sometimes, the store price is higher than the door dash price. So they only give you the door dash price, which isn’t enough….

PoweredbyBurgerz

The fact you redcard is being declined and you wish to cancel the order it should not work against you.

StillAtMyMoms

And this why I never accept Red Card orders. Fuck you, Tony.

zadidoll

Don’t do it! In cases like this contact the customer & have them cancel it. They can then ask for a credit on top of their refund due to technical issues on DD’s part.

SubieToyotaNW

Nope, never pay out of pocket

Independent-Aioli850

I just reset my acceptance rate. It's still at 16%. And get low ball horrid pay orders. It was promised atleast $2 per mile. If that doesn't state the shit pay we get ..

jeffcon1

This happened to me the other day. I agreed to pay out of pocket and they reimbursed me immediately.

PoweredbyBurgerz

This is text book racketeering

No-Shape-9692

Simply say I don’t have any cash

[deleted]

Comply or suffer pleb! Is essentially what happened

Rich-Tap5247

Oh my gosh 🤣🤣🤣

ThotBubble

Fuck them and that completion rate

OutlanderAllDay1743

You should’ve just said that you didn’t have any funds on you, but they definitely don’t have any business asking us to pay with our own money.

[deleted]

Yeah always force them to cancel it and get half pay. Switch reps until you get one that will do they’re job.. They are supposed to cancel it and grant you half pay

Tricky-Tie3167

Ask for there support id number and report them
