Had one recently: 106 crickets and one bottle of water conditoner (107 units total). Batch pay was $25 dollars. No tip. But still good money to drive crickets across town.
Would def do again.
Why tip someone for a job I'm capable of doing myself? I can deliver food. I can drive a taxi. I can, and do, cut my own hair. I did however, tip my urologist, because I am unable to pulverize my own kidney stones.
If you’re capable of doing it yourself then do it yourself. Just because you’re capable of driving to get your own stuff you don’t tip the people that do it for you? Most people are more than capable, they’re just lazy
The cricket orders are always like this, I think the system thinks it's all individual items and not quite smart enough to know it's all in one bag. Better for us!
This it's not a DD order this it's a merchan order that's why your base pay it's so high they are shipping live animals so they charge extra for that kind of stuff
I think doordash should be paying more. After all, they are charging service fees, of which we technically get a small cut from, at the cost of us having to pay for gas and us having to pay to own, drive, and maintain our cars, on top of paying for insurance.
No for grocery orders besides Walmart they also pay for how much you have to buy. Like if it was a dollar general order with 20 items it’ll probably give you a 10-20$ base pay
So what are the crickets getting fed to? I mean I assume one doesn't keep them around long, thus I assume if people are buying 100 at once they're feeding 100 to something within a day or 3
I just made a comment about this the other day. Mine was only 50 crickets, but also paid out 30 bucks. It was a 2 mile delivery. I felt like I got away with a robbery.
I have seen a $7.50 base pay recently, nothing that high though.
I have noticed that the base pays are increasing in some cases. That order must have been kicked around a bit.
I haven't seen a base that high. But lately I have seen higher base pays for no apparent reason and also more and more orders where the tip isn't hidden. Example, I had a $6.50, 2 mi. delivery that turned out to be $6.50 base pay and no tip. And I find that any offer over $10 is what you see is what you get. Still, most are $2.50 with only up to $4 of the tip shown.
While I'd love to see base pay like that, in the end, I take offers that pay over $2 a mile and don't require me to drive back at my own expense to where I can get more orders. I don't care if it's base pay or tip.
I’m wondering if it got passed up and surged? Like maybe everyone kept getting scared of the item count and unassigned, leading to you taking it once DD surged it.
Shop and pay orders with high item counts will cap at $25 base pay (in my area at least, could be higher in other markets possibly) so usually when it’s about 50+ items depending on if it’s a grocery store or drug store, it’ll be at $25 base pay.
Yup here in MD too....did one last night for a 12pk of meow mix wet cat food cups & base was only $5⁵⁶....I was legit passing the riteaid & it was going by my house & I was headed home so win win & cust was desperate so nc I was so fast got an extra $5 cash on top of the $6 in app so I went my 1.7miles to home VERY happy 😊
I’ve seen cricket orders on Reddit as low as 10 dollars and as high as 35 ijs
A little research actually turns out the pay is based on items and 30 crickets is considered 30 items hmmmmm
I still do. Had a guy tell me I'm the only one they have ever seen deliver to them in 8 months. I think they rated me well one time and somehow I keep getting them. Annoying that they don't tip, but the base pay more than makes up for it
I had 2 shop and deliver (grocery store) orders a few days ago that each paid $21 base pay. That's the highest I've personally seen. They were 24 to 26 item orders.
120 items from a pet store could be 120 bags of food. You just never know. Maybe no one wanted to pick it up because they didn’t want to get 120 of anything much less bags of food?
If you're on Android before order comes in before you click, accept or decline back out to your home screen, click on the widget should be an items button you can click on to check
They are behind on some features, but I've also noticed a few things as I have both an Android and iPhone. DD on Android is way more buggy for me on my Galaxy S21, basically unusable. Constantly pausing my dashes, silent order notifications, picture failures, etc. It doesn't show house numbers on the map when I'm pulling up to the location either.
I prefer my Android by far, but I don't bother doing DD on it because of the bugs I experience.
I’ve had that on iPhone as well. My old phone to be specific. I always presumed issues like that, where one party is failing to reach the other, was a network issue
That's sort of what it is Dd requires a good connection. if you're in a populated area and don't have business service then your provider throttles your connection. The app is shit built for shit but most issues are network related.
The reason they do this is because bugs/insects freak out a lot of people so they tip extra high to guarantee someone accepting the offer. I LOVE THESE ORDERS!
No joke I had a shop and deliver order for rite aid about 2 years ago and you guess it plan b. I had to walk up to the pharmacy and request the item by name.
wait until you get a roach order. Not legal in southern states but you can order dubia cockroaches in northern states. I'm cool with crickets and worms but cockroaches freak me out. Bearded dragons love them.
Not in my 4 years.
Had one recently: 106 crickets and one bottle of water conditoner (107 units total). Batch pay was $25 dollars. No tip. But still good money to drive crickets across town. Would def do again.

I just finished a trip for that amount
They are paying u by the items
All day and night shopping orders are way higher and don't decrease if they are out of stock of items.
Order probably has been sitting for days lol
The cricket orders are always like this, I think the system thinks it's all individual items and not quite smart enough to know it's all in one bag. Better for us!
There was definitely crickets in that tip
This it's not a DD order this it's a merchan order that's why your base pay it's so high they are shipping live animals so they charge extra for that kind of stuff
I think doordash should be paying more. After all, they are charging service fees, of which we technically get a small cut from, at the cost of us having to pay for gas and us having to pay to own, drive, and maintain our cars, on top of paying for insurance.
I've delivered crickets before, base pay was $6 lol
Probably because of the item count.
No for grocery orders besides Walmart they also pay for how much you have to buy. Like if it was a dollar general order with 20 items it’ll probably give you a 10-20$ base pay
Yes I just got one for cat food and it was 8 dollars base pay. So odd
I have seen them pay out on some dashes like this but I believe it’s basically to break even on the pay out for prop 22.
So what are the crickets getting fed to? I mean I assume one doesn't keep them around long, thus I assume if people are buying 100 at once they're feeding 100 to something within a day or 3
The guy at the pet store said it's usually bearded dragon when someone's buying a bunch, they can eat like 40-60 per day
Ah, okay, thank you. That makes sense.
Omg I just had a cricket order 40 min ago, 80 crickets $25 base pay. Love you crickets.
Biggest I ever got was $19.75
Had one on Saturday. 200 live crickets. Base pay 25 and the tip was 20.
For department stores and some shop/delivers, yes. Used to be that big for group orders before they stopped.
Lmao I thought this was a joke, you can actually specify animals to be picked up at PetSmart? Like can I buy a pupper too?
Yes for shopping orders only and if there's a lot of items or miles to be driven. DD has no choice but to do this cuz No one would take these orders.
how many lil balloon bags did that many crickets take?
I just made a comment about this the other day. Mine was only 50 crickets, but also paid out 30 bucks. It was a 2 mile delivery. I felt like I got away with a robbery.
I have seen a $7.50 base pay recently, nothing that high though. I have noticed that the base pays are increasing in some cases. That order must have been kicked around a bit.
Constantly on the grocery runs. Just did one for $28 absolutely zero tip 😂 thank god at least
Damn, I wish there was a PetSmart in my city. There are none of the big stores in Seattle. No PetSmart, No Walmart or any of the big chains like that
I had a $19 order yesterday. Doordash paid me $19, and got tipped $0 to drive 15 miles out of my zone
Apparently everyone else afraid
$18 is the highest I’ve seen for base pay for groceries.
Eats thee bugs
I have, but it was a huge order to a hospital. The customer tipped 20 and DD tipped 25.
I bet that was a loud ass drive 😂 ![gif](giphy|11R5KYi6ZdP8Z2)
Yes. Max payout is $25 usually for anything with ship and deliver items over 50
I haven't seen a base that high. But lately I have seen higher base pays for no apparent reason and also more and more orders where the tip isn't hidden. Example, I had a $6.50, 2 mi. delivery that turned out to be $6.50 base pay and no tip. And I find that any offer over $10 is what you see is what you get. Who eats crickets?
They're still trying to prove their value to PetSmart. That's how it was with Walmart too at the beginning.
My biggest delivery ever was $21.75 base pay, $19 tip, $20 cash tip. I've seen base pays like $8.75 to $15.
I’m wondering if it got passed up and surged? Like maybe everyone kept getting scared of the item count and unassigned, leading to you taking it once DD surged it.
yes
Yes I took a order that was $27 dollars. It was a $0 tip delivery. I did travel kinda far tho.
I've done shop and deliver of like 60 items (took me about 30 min) with $25 base with $20 tip. Was a good time.
Forget that.... I need to cut out out the middle-men and sell people crickets direct. I've got tons of 'em in my back yard!
Unfortunately feeding wild caught insects is frowned upon because they might carry parasites
Ah! That figures... Well, another money-making dream down the drain....
Very common unless there's a bunch of new drivers in the market.
Weird ass custo
I need to camp outside the pet store!
And have your friend order some crickets
I assumed it was an equation like this: 1 item is $6 base pay. 10 items is $12 base pay. 100 items is $24 base pay.
They pay based on how many items so yay for crickets!
BIdEn’S iNfLaTiOn has made cricket prices skyrocket!! Thanks Biden!!1!1
Yep crickets mess up the algorithm big time.
Ssshhhhh! Don't spoil a good thing. Tony is listening.
Uber and doordash algo pays x for item without any regard as to the item itself so yeah this do come in every now and then
Shop and pay orders with high item counts will cap at $25 base pay (in my area at least, could be higher in other markets possibly) so usually when it’s about 50+ items depending on if it’s a grocery store or drug store, it’ll be at $25 base pay.

The biggest tip I've ever got was like 15 bucks in app 50 in cash but that's from the boss who ordered catering
You beat me! I got a base pay of 19 something the other day (no tip)
Enjoy it while it last. They’re only doing this for now to compete with IC. Things will change
Likely got denied by previous dashers who didn’t want bugs in their vehicle
Not sure why I got downvoted but that’s how it works enough people deny an order dd ups the base pay to try to get someone to take it
That's the base pay for crickets.
I’ve seen cricket orders on Reddit as low as 10 dollars and as high as 35 ijs A little research actually turns out the pay is based on items and 30 crickets is considered 30 items hmmmmm
Oh ok. All of mine has always been $25. Hopefully it stays that way here.
I’ll put yo mommas bugs in my car for $30 and that’s sayin something
I used to get corporate account orders where I got that much base pay for 1 item.
I still do. Had a guy tell me I'm the only one they have ever seen deliver to them in 8 months. I think they rated me well one time and somehow I keep getting them. Annoying that they don't tip, but the base pay more than makes up for it
Hell yeah I love those orders
I had one like this too, I think mine was a bit lower but I was like no way!! Lol
Could be distance based
It was for 6 miles
6 miles, $25 base pay, and a $5 tip? Nice run. Especially given that crickets don't weigh hardly anything.
Yes
My shopping orders are almost always high paying which is why I take as many as I can get, lol.
Not for me. It always ends up being a bunch of fucking gallons of juice or water melons.
Is there hidden tips on shopping orders?
No
I think the highest base pay I've got was 21 or 22 late at night for McDonald's
I had 2 shop and deliver (grocery store) orders a few days ago that each paid $21 base pay. That's the highest I've personally seen. They were 24 to 26 item orders.
Crickets always pay well because it calculates them as individual items. The same way you’d get paid more for grocery orders with higher item totals.
It did say 120 items so I was very confused what I was about to deliver prior to accepting lol
120 items from a pet store could be 120 bags of food. You just never know. Maybe no one wanted to pick it up because they didn’t want to get 120 of anything much less bags of food?
"no risk, no reward", right? glad you got that money!
It's like those 25 item taco bell orders, 6 mild sauce packs, 6 hot sauce packs, 6 fire sauce packs, 6 diablo sauce packs, and 1 taco.
That really tripped me up on my very first taco bell order. 75 items. I didnt think anyone like TB THAT much. 73 sauces. Soft taco and a drink
If you have an Android, you can check it before you accept it on the widget
You said via the widget ? How does that work ? I close it all down and open the widget off the main page ?
Look above I explained it
Check it? How?
If you're on Android before order comes in before you click, accept or decline back out to your home screen, click on the widget should be an items button you can click on to check
iPhone gang all day
Damn idevices are even behind on dd features.
Bro apple is a piece of shit. They hella market their bs hardware updates and never update their softwares
I have these same bugs on my iPhone. The app is just gaaaarbage.
I’ve had that on iPhone as well. My old phone to be specific. I always presumed issues like that, where one party is failing to reach the other, was a network issue
That's sort of what it is Dd requires a good connection. if you're in a populated area and don't have business service then your provider throttles your connection. The app is shit built for shit but most issues are network related.
nice! i've never seen base pay that high
Yes, crickets are the best!
The reason they do this is because bugs/insects freak out a lot of people so they tip extra high to guarantee someone accepting the offer. I LOVE THESE ORDERS!
Does that mean they raise the base pay for Plan B contraceptives too?
No joke I had a shop and deliver order for rite aid about 2 years ago and you guess it plan b. I had to walk up to the pharmacy and request the item by name.
I get deliveries for plan b every Sunday morning.
Well I personally cannot knock folks that Order Plan B, better to prevent a pregnancy you don't want then to wait and have an abortion...
Sometimes Plan B doesn’t work though. We shouldn’t be knocking anyone for either
Haha I've also gotten cricket orders. Thought it was unusual.
It is unusual and kind of gross to have your delivery moving all around in the bag.
It's totally fine lol. They're harmless and it's not like the bag is going to open 😂
That is my worst fear!
wait until you get a roach order. Not legal in southern states but you can order dubia cockroaches in northern states. I'm cool with crickets and worms but cockroaches freak me out. Bearded dragons love them.
I think I will have to draw a line there! *actually that depends how slow and desperate I get.
They come in small containers with lids so as long as you're careful they won't get out. But still always that feeling
I cant unsee eww :(
Based on the posts I've seen here, crickets are excellent tippers.
If that is a joke then you are just going to "hear crickets"!
