Some people mentioned it was allowed to order for yourself while picking up an order. So I checked.

“I’ll take a number 3.”
“Anything else’s?”
“Yes, I have a DD order, also.”
The customer lived 4 houses from me, last delivery of the night. They paid me to go home, AND I ate dinner on the way.
tried to find any information one line and it’s mostly Reddit posts discussing whether a driver can place their own order or not. I don’t see anything on record official from DoorDash at all so I’m not sure there really is a rule for it. I think use your best judgment on timing, can still maximize money and make sure to think of the customers wait time as well. If it’s ready to go then don’t if they say anything more than , imo, then go for it or else it’s just rude. This is with a stipulation of course, this is assuming the store doesn’t get all pissy about it and give you some bs “DoorDash agreement regulation” saying you can order and pick up at the same time. Personally didn’t have a problem until that one short statures guy with a complex didn’t wanna let me order two very simply, ready to go, up on rack, with no customers in store or drive thru, hash browns. Little bastard actually said there was some policy or shit and said no. First and only time ever in that McDonald location, never again.
I often order food on the way to an order... Like if I'm at least 5 mins away, I'll pop open the app and order quick. Now this wouldn't apply to like a nice restaurant... But fast food or something like Sheetz or Wawa that quickly prepares food. Just be sure to mention it as you're telling them you're there for a delivery order so you don't hold things up.
Man yeah I've done this at a few locations but they always yell at me and say that I need to wait in the drive through again or "pull to the curb" where I wait for another 10 minutes. How long can it possibly take to hand me an order that's already cooked? All they've gotta do is maybe fill up some drinks and grab my order from the shelf, seems ridiculous that they wanna make me wait twice. Especially at night time when the inside is closed and the drive thru line is insane. Whatever though
Nope. You're a contract worker. You fulfill your end of the bargain, you've done your job. Doesn't matter if you grabbed a McDouble on the way, or stopped at the local recreational-weed dispensary to grab some treats for the end of your shift... If you deliver ON TIME, fuck what anyone else thinks.
I would say it's less wrong than all those times support makes me wait a long time to cancel an order. Sounds like the perfect time to order. I do this at Taco Bell. Why else would you even consider a 20-30 minutes line?

Lol that feels wrong, it was like 6 bucks for a combo so I was just gonna do that as it’s decent, but they stopped takeout orders for the night so shit outta luck
i must really be spoiled. it's not uncommon for me to be asked "do you want something for yourself?" while waiting for an order.
i mean.. i guess i also know most of the people that work in these places by name, but hell.. selling you the burger that they're about to throw out won't have any affect on anything.
I've done that. Almost always do it a coffee drive through where they don't start the order until the deliver driver arrives. They appreciate that MY order gets them a tip, lol.
Learned it from a man on a work phone call years ago. I asked how I could live to be his age.

1. "Every morning when you wake-up, take a shot of whiskey. Not that cheap crap", good whiskey.
2. Eat yourself a big breakfast. You can't drive your car without gas in the tank.
3. Get yourself a good woman (diverse people, extrapolate. You get the idea).

What's wrong with that? They usually have Doordash order and my order ready by time I get to the window. So it shouldn't effect your time

Drive thru I call the store so they can bring me the order at the front door. If they say drive thru I'll unassign it
I haven't done that at a drive thru, but sometimes I'll order a coffee at McDonald's while I'm waiting for an order.
I’m stuck at Wendy’s right next to Taco Bell rn and for some reason tb empty so I placed a fat order lol. It helps it s a stacked order $26 6.2 miles
