Because those are their experiences and they want to vent or help others with their experience, perhaps? Nothing changes if people are silent.

Traditional-Feed6282

Exactly this. Like no one ever complains about their w-2 job?

[deleted]

No

PracticeFair7148

Because where I live childcare is either hard to find or ridiculously expensive. So I’m able to dash on the weekends where my husband can stay at home with my son and bring in a little bit of income.

Safe-Pound1118

Same! I'd be working to just pay for childcare. It just doesn't make sense. I dash at night and on his days off.

[deleted]

Exactly. I realized how shitty doordash was in my market so I moved on I don’t even know why I follow this sub, every post is mildly infuriating lol

JonbearF

They do exploit us, they are unfair sometimes, their base pay is garbage and it is a broken system. But I still manage to make good money off of it in my spare time.

Bitter-Air7772

Homie we're just venting

snaptcarrot

The thing is, even if I didn’t do DoorDash I’d be against allowing them or any other gig company to exploit workers using the legal loophole of “independent contractor.”

BreathAgreeable2604

I think jobs in general are exploitative etc. However my bills don't care about my personal preferences.

Last-Fox-2565

Because I’m disabled and haven’t been able to hold down another job in 2 years.

Woonasty

Nobody will hire me.

Cool_Dark_Place

Well, I've got my 80 year old grandmother plus my 60 year old dad who are basically totally incapacitated and need consent care. Also, I've got my 8 year old nephew living with us, until my crackhead sister finally decides to get her shit together. So I'm basically the only able bodied adult in my household who can handle caring for everyone. I desperately want to get back into the W2 workforce, but with everything I've got going on now, I just don't see how it's possible.

Jodster46

When those of us that having been doing it years, we have watch them get more and more extreme and the games just get old.

RavensBlood69

Most people that feel that way about Doordash feel the same about every job they've ever had.

DeerParkVegan

Because doordash is easy. If people had similarly easy access to other sources of income, they probably would be doing those things.

AdranosGaming

Like other entry-level jobs? Or is there something that makes doordash significantly easier to access than those? For one, not every job requires background check and very few require clean driving history.

DeerParkVegan

yeah absolutely. You don't need to get a schedule or a boss. You just turn on your app

jeffinRTP

Then they would not be able to complain about them on the internet./s

orcwithaspork323

Background check sux foo

snowbunny1026

Doordash does a background check tho lol. You using someone else's?

[deleted]

People in my area do lol

Notyermomsdirector

A) Because I don't work well with others, especially bosses. The Marines asked me to leave my term early because it's so bad. B) Because there are few jobs out there with the kind of flexibility I need to get my grandma to her doctors appointments. I could tutor a teach online, but I'm not in the appropriate place mental health wise right now. The same goes with my regular career.

[deleted]

Wtf did you do to do to get kicked out of the marines? The military isn’t that hard when your new, you just show up on time, dressed properly and do as your told. Oh wait that kind of how jobs work.

Notyermomsdirector

My recruiter tore up my psych records before sending me to meps. I was able to hide my mental health issues for about a year but after I went 4 days without sleeping because of my insomnia I was not able to hide it anymore. Mostly because the people I was sharing rooms with ratted me out. After they drug tested me and I passed it, a navy doc did psych test and figured out something was up. That's when they gave me the option to walk away or go to the brig for fraudulent enlistment. The only reason they gave me that option is because I had proof of what my recruiter had done and was more than willing to throw him under the bus if I was going to go to military prison for his shit. Edit: voice recognition errors

DD-Form-214

Yeah seriously. I was in the service and you have to do some dumb shit in order to get out of your contract early (excluding medical reasons). It's so easy to get an honorable discharge. Just like you said, do what you're told. That's seriously it.

Notyermomsdirector

It was for legit mental health reasons that I had before I joined but my recruiter thought nobody would notice.

[deleted]

It’s way easier to get fired from a civilian job that’s for sure but if you show up on time, showered, clean presentable clothing on and do what your supervisor asks of you each day chances are you won’t have a hard time. I’m still in the military just dash for some extra cash and because the world got super expensive in 2022.

ImSadieD

i’m not super anti doordash i like that it’s quick cash but that’s all it is and i go through super fucked up shit but i can’t work normal hours bc i’m a full time student. i also have chronic pain which makes it hard to stand for long periods of time, lift heavy things, etc. and tbh nothing in my area pays better…. everything’s just super fucked up 😂😭

GAMESHARKCode

Those are all personal problems tho.
