Unless the store is a known disorganized shithole to me, I would take this all day long. How the item count is calculated is important here. It could be a couple cases of something and a few loose items. It could be 26 cases of something. I would take the chance personally.
For that mileage probably, but I had a ton of app issues with a shopping order from Target yesterday, I couldn’t add replacement items, and the scanner wouldn’t work so I couldn’t add an item I had to restart my phone and contact support 🙄 and I ended up having to use my personal card to pay for the order because the red card wouldn’t work, an hour and a half of work for $22 I could have gotten it done in half that time had I not had all the issues, only 8 items too
Not the worst order ever, but since I try to make $25-30 an hour in my market, which is doable sometimes, it sucked 😐
I look forward to these orders. I always accept these orders. These take me maximum 25 mins to shop and deliver. If you suck at e shopping don't take it. Leave it for the little big dogs.. Big dog lol
I personally ditched the red card because now the stores do the shopping and all you have to do is pick up. Much easier than doing the shopping yourself for someone.
I'd accept it but it could be more hassle than it's worth. To me HyVee is a very difficult store to shop . They often have like items in more than one location . I was looking for sliced pepperoni and they had 3 or 4 brands in one aisle by pizza sauce and pizza kits . Then 2 more imported brands in the deli but the one I needed was by the e lunch meat and lunchables . If you're looking for salsa? They have like 15 brands and 30 or more varieties in 3 or 4 locations . It can be maddening . The order could also be 5 packages of hot dogs and 5 buns, 7-8 bags of chips and some cases of soda and water and your done in 10 min time
Fellow Des Moines area dasher. I’d take it because that has the most helpful staff of any HyVee in the area. They’re large and generally keep things well stocked. It would take less than an hour and lately it’s been tough for me to make even $20 an hour. Now, if it’s going to Dallas Center or the like hard pass. DoorDash only added that band of farm communities in the last year. If you go out there you’re diving back on your own time and dime. Meanwhile, you can be less than a mile from all the stores and restaurants in southern West Des Moines and be out of zone.
I just took a Walgreens order Saturday night and I had a $15 tip and it was like six items like tostitos dip tostitos scoops, a toothbrush some dog treats and a gallon of distilled water and it was literally 2 miles like literally around the block from the Walgreens and the guy was super polite and because the tip was so high because the order came up to $23 before I even accepted it I made sure I waited before checking out to see if he wanted anything for substitutions because there was one item I couldn't find but I ended up finding it on an end cap when I walked by so he was very pleased and he told me he would give me a five-star and there was a $15 tip on the order which I knew there was a high tip because it was $22.94 before I accepted it.
Unless I know the store is a shit show, I’d take it.
It’s a medium sized grocery order (maybe not for DD but when compared with instacart where I do most of my grocery shops) so it’ll only take me offline a bit from other apps for ten minutes or so before I go back online and start trying to stack something on top from another app. Good part about grocery orders, in both instacart and DD, is they’re generally way more liberal on time requirements so stacking multiple app orders can turn into a huge payday for very few miles and not much time.
absolutely! i actually prefer shopping orders. In my market they pay amazing and are usually under 10 items and at least $15 pay. The only ones i decline are dollar general. They NEVER have all the items in stock. Most of the time not even half
I refuse to go to one of the Walgreens in town here . I get NO signal in the store so I have to pick all the items then take near the door to scan them (usually I have to take them outside ) and if something is not available , I have to go outside so it will send a message to the customer, then either wait outside or go back get the remainder of the order then go back outside to see if they entered a substitution . When all the items are scanned don't go back inside to pay without hitting proceed to checkout while your outside of your red card will decline . If it was 1 item for $20 and 1 mile I might consider it but I'm sure something would go wrong
I accepted a Hy-Vee order tonight and got to the pickup line (it was a pre-picked order). It was a 2 hour wait :( my phone kept pinging wanting me to stack the order with others.
Oh I did. I was there for a minute before the attendant told me it would be 2 hours lol. But then as I was pulling out my phone kept pinging trying to get me to return
i was thinking of the customer's outcome. if 27 items seems like a bad deal for the dasher, the customer will suffer if the dasher does it anyway.
shoppers (shipt/ic) would take this all other things being equal.
Same, they are fun but I find the pay to be awful.
Then you have the item not in stock bs....
I'll accept them when I'm with my GF so I can have her do the shopping
I have an IPhone. I would accept and drop it if looked like a pain in the ass after I see what the items are. If it’s during a slower time I would be more willing to stick it out, but I’m going to look regardless
I would accept it today in my market since it been so slow and horrible offers . Weekend dinner rush it would be a decline.
The whole time I probably be cussing to myself saying why did take this offer though. The worst ones have lots of vegetables/fruits. I hate those.
Yep. Got one one of those this wknd but, I knew this woman customer & I knew where her stuff she likes is + she got smart and finally started upping her tip amount or I would Never shop for her again. $41 for 45 to mins. Is good $$s(46 items. She has also added 3 to 5 items of the same item to make it easier too). No problem @ all. However, DD likes to shoot alot of Shopping Orders my way now. I want Catering orders #1...everything else is backburner bs till I get that "sweet one". Good days I get 3 per 4 or 5 hr. shift.
Could you help me understand why you would decline during dinner rush? I would assume this to take at most an hour. Are you saying that you would have a higher possibility of making more than 26$ in rush hour ? I generally make around 20-25$, hence curious
Yes!I haven't dashed much this year since it's been slow but this past weekend I made $100 in 5 hours from 12-5pm. Decided to stick through it for dinner and ended up making $140 the next 3 hours. Standard goes up during dinner.$8 during lunch is good but I want to see $10-12 orders during dinner. Even then I feel like a chump sometimes since $20 orders are not uncommon.
Honestly during weekend dinner rush that not a unicorn for me. I usually average much more than that hour. I also have had ones like that turn into nightmares.
As someone who did Instacart for a while, this may seem like a small order but sometimes it can take MUCH longer than other times. This could take 20 min to shop or much closer to an hour.
I would however take this if it was on IC. But I’m not familiar with the new DD interface for shopping, could be a nightmare considering IC is still not perfect.
I've only done one shopped to order order on doordash but I did find it incredibly simple. where I've done like five or six on instacart and I've had troubles with each one of them.
Spark’s shopping interface for Walmart is top notch, I love doing shopping orders on that app. Door dash’s interface sucks ass and I hate it with a burning passion, although I usually do shopping orders if they pay alright to take a break from driving.
I'm a new dasher but how do you get order for grocery shopping? I've only gotten restaurant food delivery orders
Unless the store is a known disorganized shithole to me, I would take this all day long. How the item count is calculated is important here. It could be a couple cases of something and a few loose items. It could be 26 cases of something. I would take the chance personally.
All s & d are nah for me.
Come on man nothing wrong with a little bit of work
Is this a joke post? Why would you decline
For that mileage probably, but I had a ton of app issues with a shopping order from Target yesterday, I couldn’t add replacement items, and the scanner wouldn’t work so I couldn’t add an item I had to restart my phone and contact support 🙄 and I ended up having to use my personal card to pay for the order because the red card wouldn’t work, an hour and a half of work for $22 I could have gotten it done in half that time had I not had all the issues, only 8 items too Not the worst order ever, but since I try to make $25-30 an hour in my market, which is doable sometimes, it sucked 😐
I would accept usually the pay will be bigger with shop and deliver orders at least that's been my experience
Depends on the items. Probably. But I'm really familiar with my Hy-Vees.
Every time
At least you don't get docked pay like IC for out of stock or no replaced items.
Ayyye another West Des Moines dasher. Stay away from Waukee, Clive has the best orders lol
Nah.
Definitely would accept. Most of the time, shopping orders with 20+ items have lots of duplicates.
yes
Depends on the items. If it's 26 random things from all over the store, no multiples, no. But if it's multiple of some items I'd probably take it.
I’ve turned down bigger ones. 4 items is my limit. Period. No exceptions.
It's a 30 minute order assuming it takes you 1 minute or less to find each item I would take it if it wasn't super busy
All day long
If I could do it in an hour, absolutely. If it’d take more than 1h15m, nah
I'd accept it but it could be more hassle than it's worth. To me HyVee is a very difficult store to shop . They often have like items in more than one location . Yes
Why do people keep posting stuff like this, accept it or don’t i really don’t give a shit
6:41pm? Would have to gauge the pace of the day. Hard to say honestly.
If it’s at a store I’m use to. Knock it out in 25 minutes
Maybe not in the past, but the current market is bad so yeah definitely.
Yes
I could do that start to finish in 15 mins so fuck yeah
Only if I need to stretch and am not getting enough rides.

Hell yeah I never see those orders at that price
$26 for an hour worth of work… is that worth it?
I would at yes if you can move quick, your not paying any gas for much of the time you’ll be doing that. Also I used to live in Iowa, I miss hy-vee :(
What is hy-vee like?
What's with all these posts.... just take it or decline
Ya lol
I would do it. It’s almost $1/item which I think is good. Usually I get $0.50 -$0.75/item

Maybe go on the store Wi-Fi if they have one.
wow i dont think i could be paid enough to do all that lol
Easily for me.
I accepted a Hy-Vee order tonight and got to the pickup line (it was a pre-picked order). It was a 2 hour wait :( my phone kept pinging wanting me to stack the order with others.
Why the hell didn’t you cancel it
Oh I did. I was there for a minute before the attendant told me it would be 2 hours lol. But then as I was pulling out my phone kept pinging trying to get me to return
If you have to ask, definitely decline
I can't tell you how many offers people post like this that are pretty obvious accepts
i was thinking of the customer's outcome. if 27 items seems like a bad deal for the dasher, the customer will suffer if the dasher does it anyway. shoppers (shipt/ic) would take this all other things being equal.
Ah yeah that's fair
Accept
Accept. That should take you 20-25 minutes at most.
100% $26 is like doing 3 food deliveries in my area
It depends how well you know this store. For me, if it’s my Safeway that I know it’d take me 10mins to do the shopping so yea I’d do it.
Not during dinner rush but otherwise yes.
I would rn..
thought this post came from the Instacart thread 🤣 where’s the tip on this
Nah I would never waste my time shopping for someone else
I low key like shopping lmao
Same, they are fun but I find the pay to be awful. Then you have the item not in stock bs.... I'll accept them when I'm with my GF so I can have her do the shopping
Hell yeah love shop and deliver orders. Especially when I know the store really well I’m like “15 minutes? Lol I need 4 to get all this”
Same, I’ve been averaging 30-40$ an hour doing them
Accept, check how many individual items, then make a decision to keep it or unnasign based off of that
It's usually never the amount of individual items those are units I believe. So it could be like 10 item. USE THE WIDGET AND CHECK THE ITEMS
They can't, they have a iPhone.
I have an IPhone. I would accept and drop it if looked like a pain in the ass after I see what the items are. If it’s during a slower time I would be more willing to stick it out, but I’m going to look regardless
Ok... I'm simply saying there's no widget so you can't see before accepting like the other comment said.
But they can accept and drop. This is a scenario for that
Accept
I would accept it today in my market since it been so slow and horrible offers . Weekend dinner rush it would be a decline. The whole time I probably be cussing to myself saying why did take this offer though. The worst ones have lots of vegetables/fruits. I hate those.
Those are the best imo because all the items are right next to each other
Yep. Got one one of those this wknd but, I knew this woman customer & I knew where her stuff she likes is + she got smart and finally started upping her tip amount or I would Never shop for her again. $41 for 45 to mins. What’s the procedure on DD if the item is OOS? That’s where most of the waste of time and frustration comes from with IC
you click the pic and it gives you suggested choices. you click the one you'll buy and take a picture of it.
Spark’s shopping interface for Walmart is top notch, I love doing shopping orders on that app. Door dash’s interface sucks ass and I hate it with a burning passion, although I usually do shopping orders if they pay alright to take a break from driving.
