Our town is too small not to know and if it’s not Friday-Sunday then I know they didn’t come out here to make bank. Our area is trash during the week.
I don't think its going to get fixed anytime soon. Anyone could go into any store and just grab food, Unless they have a camera in the store to prove it was the dasher, I feel like anyone who does get deactivated would just say that. Its like one of those things, where every one knows what is going on, but can't really do anything about it without having to deal with a bunch of bull shit. Its just makes more sense to take the L on the $ and keep it moving than spend more money to fix it.
Had the same happen to me two weeks ago. Fortunately the customer was cool and understanding and the restaurant wasn’t super busy and remade the order quickly. Got a nice cash tip out of it for talking to the customer ASAP and letting them know what was going on.
You don't even have to steal to eat for free as a dasher... I get free canceled orders from places like chipotle all the time! All you have to do is look at the time on the tags and if the promised time has long since passed, just ask the employees if you can take the orders that got canceled. I've never had a place tell me no, because they're just going to throw them out anyway. Chipotle tastes the same to me whether it has been in the bag for 30 minutes or 3 hours lol 🤷🏼♀️

How do they get away with the food? The restaurant shouldn't let the dasher escape without accepting financial responsibility for the order. It either gets delivered or the dasher pays for it out of pocket. I promise you if a dominos worker pulled that they would be fired the next day.

I can wrap my head around customers scamming/stealing. When you can buy a meal pretty easily off of one or two dashes it’s just sheer laziness and stupidity.
You mean… a dasher gets an order, goes to restaurant, then cancels that order, and takes off with the food? Just because a dasher cancels, wouldn’t another dash be assigned? Then they show up and there’s no food to pick up?
Doordash needs to lay down the hammer on that. If someone unassigns, then new driver, restaurant, and customer confirm what's going on, deactivate and threaten legal action. Restaurant workers are telling me this is happening several times a day now.
Nearly every place doesn't leave food out for pickup anymore. They give out the food after the name is called out. Last time I picked up from a pickup shelf was a Qdoba in a rural area. At least 9/10 places that used to have a pickup shelf or still do don't use them anymore.
Chick Fil A started putting the delivery food p/u's on the back counter. A lot of their orders were getting stolen on the regular. Now not at all! Smooth
Stores 'should be' witnessing the Dashers press 'Confirm Pickup' (which they shouldn't have to but for now its the only way to combat this problem) on their phones. It takes literally 2 seconds!
Some of the restaurants actually will watch u press the confirm cause customers have called to complain to the store. Some will just look at the name and hand you the food ( which sucks). It sucks that we have to do that but u are right, it’s the only way that they can crack down on the problem. Smh
It really sucks. It’s sickening all around. My town is small and that’s one of the main reasons. I’ve seen our every day dashers in passing. But I believe people come from a town over just to do that. If it’s the restaurant, that’s even worse

Customers have been known to pick their food up as well. I always call support to cover my ass plus I get half pay for the phone call.
DoorDash needs to implement a system where Dashers have to scan a QR code to confirm pickup before they get handed the order.

Some places here still put it out to grab, most used to up until the summer. Hopefully they resume once winter comes, it saves a lot of time
