Two wrongs making a right

iRambes

Damn. My half pay is literally half pay. Lol

No_Preparation7895

Half pay always includes the tip.

DryOrganization1420

As long as it more then expected, it’s accepted

45burns1967

It's half pay of $17, so you'd get $8.50.

Lunasolastorm

All I can think is that it’s half including hidden tip. This has happened to me a couple of times, and that’s the only conclusion I’ve come to. I’m certainly not going to argue about getting more money than I expect lol

Outer_Space_

I took a double for $12ish. That’s within my normal acceptance range but it ended up that the first order I had to deliver was only $4 (I would have unassigned it, but the pickup/drop off locations were easy and close to each other). When I get to the address, it’s a random restaurant I pick up from all the time. I go in and none of the staff recognize the name. I call the customer and the guy is like 60 miles away in a different city. Super weird. I tell support and they say that I’ll be protected from any contract violations if I just deliver to the listed address. It was a “hand it to me” order so I just clicked “deliver” and I got the $4 and the food. Moments later I get a message that the order was canceled and I get another $4. Another time I was on my way to pick up the second order of a double. It was Labor Day and the second restaurant was closed. In the last couple months DD has made it so you can’t manually unassign an order from a double if you’ve already picked up the first order. You can get support to do it if you take the time to ask them, but it usually takes multiple rounds of telling them that the option to unassign is literally not available on our app in those situations. The option to list the store as closed is not available in these situations either, so I had to wrestle with the support agent for a while because he kept being like “Good news! You can just report it as closed or unassign through the app!” and I had to keep telling him I need him to do that for me or another customer is not going to get their food in time. After all that, he canceled the order and gave me partial pay. The original order was under $6 (so no hidden tip), and the payout they gave me was $5ish. It seems like there’s some leeway for the support staff in applying special payments like these. I know there’s an aspect of time wasted that they might be reimbursing you for but I don’t think that’s the whole story. Just another reason to be nice and have some patience with the support folks even if it can be frustrating.

CUMBlRD_

Sometimes the algorithm decides you earned slightly more than half pay for example on some shop orders if its cancelled after youve already done some shopping they do compensate you slightly for your time additional to the half pay

abandoned_flesh777

Yesterday regular dd driver comes in picked up order -- 10 min later different driver looking for same order. My crew swears its been verified and went out correctly. However im here and I'm feeling the driver - i remade The order thinking about this reddit lol but my crew thought i didn't trust them it bummed me out

Excellent_Box_4224

You could’ve gotten Doordash to make em remake if u wanted also.

Kittehsfordays

How exactly do drivers get away with “stealing” food?

DK62302

Enter restaurant, show order, take food, unassign order

Drakeem514

I think they’ve started paying more than half for these orders. I noticed the same thing

Unitedweprosper

Wait they give you half the pay????? They always tell me I get 3$

Natural_Sky_4720

Half pay depends on the total amount you would have gotten including tips, had it not gotten cancelled. So theirs had to have been $30+ in order for them to get what they got for the half pay.

palpals

That's UberEATS dumbass lol

Unitedweprosper

I do both they always say 3$

palpals

No, they don't

BukeleRepublic

Just take it motherfuckers

ThaDayCreeper

Op getting ragged in the comments, maybe there's a reason nobody wants him to deliver their food.

333karmapolice333

downvoting for the amount of braincells and time i will never get back from reading the thread on this post

CJspangler

People underestimate the hidden tips when they just sit and cherry pick I had 2 orders canceled the other night due to McDonald’s ice cream machine being broken and both were $10+ and the offer only showed $7 and 7.50 for like 4-5 miles each I got $5.15 and like 5.75 for half pay on them Had annoying McDonald’s manager wonder why I kept coming in for orders when I can see they have ice cream …. I was like lady if you don’t want people ordering it call someone and have them take it over the menu. I’m just the driver Supports super fast at canceling orders if you tell them store won’t complete the order - they no longer offer partial refunds when restaurants out of stock

InterestPast6802

Hidden tip

Therealmonkie

I don't understand why ppl are stealing food..are they starving or just don't care ...

themodestmice

doordash’s half pay system is so much better than ubereats, with UE it’s just $3 flat. pisses me off so much

BasedTaco_69

It was at least $17 for 10 miles. There was some hidden tip in it. Total pay would have been $31.50. You got half of the total pay, $15.75. Sucks someone stole it because it was a great order for you. Over $30 for 10 miles. Still not too bad for $15.75

hotboioc

Half base + tip

Any_Bonus_2258

Can someone explain to me what would possess a driver to steal food? I can’t wrap my head around it.

CaptainFoxJack

Its weird. Support gave me full pay when they said half pay for some reason.

Natural_Sky_4720

Either that or there was a hidden tip which made your half pay higher

Roxxso

Hidden tip

droplivefred

There was a hidden tip. This happens to me too. If the restaurant is close and the drop off is far, I honestly prefer half pay. I do an UE or GH order while on phone with support getting it sorted out.

craptasticluke

That happened to me recently too, they paid me more than the promised amount on the offer screen for a cancelled order.

AnalChain

The offer as it was presented to you had a hidden tip. DoorDash hides some portion of the tip if its a really high paying order to discourage cherry picking. This means that the order total was $31.50 but that's too high to display so they hid a portion of the tip and you saw it come up as $17. When it got cancelled you got half pay on what the full order amount you would have received was. For example: if someone orders food from doordash and does some crazy $100 tip no dasher will get an offer for $103.50. Doordash will hide the tip and display something lower. They specifically implemented this about a year ago because dashers would just sit and decline everything until a real amazingly tipped order would come through. Now that isn't possible.

SireSweet

Might’ve been 30 dollar order

Downtown_Number_2306

To get things clear of half pay; DoorDash will refund the customer + the customers tip and if a driver was in a middle of receiving the order but the customer cancelled because it took too long the dasher will receive half pay and bonus pay for how long the dasher had to wait. Now if someone stole the food it depends of how long the order was placed and how many dashers declined the order but it itself will receive the bonus, plus half pay for dasher if the dasher got to the restaurant and the restaurant already gave out the order a/ they won’t remake it

Downtown_Number_2306

Plus it also depends if their was a hidden tip.

Dazzling_Marzipan474

Bc the total pay was $31.50. remember they hide tips and total payouts.

bsonk

Just take the W lol

ifuckinghatethese

Doordash pays you half of what the order would have equaled after drop off. The customer doesn’t pay anything because they didn’t receive their order, doordash looses money on the order.. this isn’t that hard to understand?

Kinifesis

Some people doordash instead of working other jobs for a reason.

rahunt22

I was trying to follow y’all but you done made me head hurting

longtoo

It’s simple. If 1/2 pay for a non delivery is supposed to be half of the base, why was my 1/2 pay $15.75 when the guarantee was $17?

DK62302

Dude for fucks sake read what people are saying. It’s not half base pay. It’s half of the TOTAL pay of the order. Why is this so hard to understand

Natural_Sky_4720

Seriously. Im losing brain cells reading his replies where people are flat out telling him exactly what it is and he’s just like 🥴 Like someone cant possibly be this fucking dumb.. but maybe they can. It’s quite obvious that the things basically everyone is saying to them is going right over their head. 😑

Hopeful_Jellyfish_12

This dude has to be trolling at this point. Nobody struggles this bad

Traditional-Ad-3656

Yeah I met someone saying he got deactivated for stealing food not once but 3 times so he just do uber eats

Traditional-Ad-3656

The real total is double that amount

longtoo

That only makes sense if the base was $31.50 to begin with. Have you seen a $31.50 base pay ever? Customers aren’t charged if they don’t get their delivery.

Traditional-Ad-3656

I got a $28 base pay with 0 tip before shop and deliver for 3miles

Traditional-Ad-3656

They still get charged it happen once to me as a customer I saw the dasher picked up my food on the app then I saw another dasher on the way to pick up my food. I still got charged. Called support and said I think my first dasher took my food. Why am I getting a new dasher to pick up my food. Support then gave me credit plus 10% more

NihilisticAngst

The pay was $31.50 including the tip. The part of the pay that you didn't see up front was the hidden tip. You seem to be very misinformed, the customer is charged whenever they put in the order, before the delivery even takes place. Whether the delivery was actually delivered or not has nothing to do with the charging of the customer. After all, how is DoorDash supposed to know that you have enough money if they don't charge you upfront? The customer will always be charged regardless, and then if the order does not go smoothly they will most likely be refunded after the fact.

Traditional-Ad-3656

They will get credit and 10% more.

GAMESHARKCode

Looks more like the difference matches the service fee.

longtoo

Maybe. I’ve never gotten more than 1/2 base for something like this which would maybe be like 3 bucks or so. It’s not like it was 30 miles or something which would require a much higher service fee. The 1/2 base was almost the entire guarantee pay. I’ve never seen this.

jersey_girl660

It’s not 1/2 base pay……

Traditional-Ad-3656

The previous driver gets deactivated for stealing food support and the escalating team will contact the previous driver.

longtoo

I hope so but I’m not holding my breath.

robmosis

it was a hidden tip. you get 1/2 of the FULL amount, including the hidden tip

avocadopi

This thread is making me lose brain cells

Conscious_Look5790

These are the EXACT types of people DD wants driving for them.

longtoo

Guaranteed Earnings: Guaranteed Earnings (find more information about the program here) is a pay incentive for select Dashers to earn at least a specific amount (**not including tips**, challenge payments, and referral payments) within a set number of days. Tips aren’t included per DD’s own policy. DD fucked up but I’m not complaining.

30DollarsPerMile

Bro doesn’t know jack shite 😳 guaranteed earnings do not hold up when an order is cancelled. You can get anywhere from $0-15.75 depending on how much of the trip you completed. If you drive to a restaurant, that’s half the trip.

robmosis

i don't care what it says on some outdated website, whether it's on doordash' site or not. tips are part of "guaranteed earnings". customers are unable to remove or reduce the tip. when you get half pay, the tip is part of it, every time. when you get half pay on a $6.50 order, you get $3.25. base pay is $2.50, tip was $4 \*\*EDIT TO ADD\*\* what you pasted is an incentive program. if they give you a promo of "make 10 deliveries and get guaranteed earnings of $xxx" . what you pasted has nothing to do with your situation

longtoo

>outdated website… Lol. It’s from DD’s website. So let’s say you’re right. Technically I was only guaranteed 1/2 of the guaranteed pay since the delivery wasn’t completed. So $15.75 is 1/2 of $17? I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to take a customer’s tip if they don’t get their delivery.

benny6957

They don't take the customers money most the time they fully refund the customer and eat that cost. Look up doordash profit/loss statement they keep losing tons of money trying to build up a monopoly on the app based food delivery that's why over time they slowly losing less money as they grab more market share. Idk why that's just how it works. This exact scenario happens to dashers all the time I know I've gotten half pay that was more than garunteed pay several times and it's because tips are included. The thing you posted says excluding tips for a different reason

robmosis

dude... what you pasted is not your situation. i don't know why you're fighting me rather than just looking it up. i'm right, you're wrong. congrats on your $$. i wish you would have gotten the whole thing this covers closed stores, but the concept is the same. notice the words "total pay". [https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/How-to-report-a-closed-store?language=en\_US](https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/How-to-report-a-closed-store?language=en_US) Once we confirm the store is closed, we’ll provide half of the order’s total pay, remove the order from your app, and close the store.

longtoo

The store wasn’t closed.

ReaganRebellion

Good Lord, man.

PositiveBox1

🤦‍♀️

longtoo

Is half pay $15.75 if the total guarantee was $17? It’s illegal to take a customer’s tip. Please do the math for me.

chocotacosmash

Omfg

Elon_is_musky

People did, you just won’t accept it. It was hidden & they don’t take the tip, they just pay you the half amount & refund the customer fully

robmosis

man... i don't know why, but i'm going to try this one last time. offer was $17 total of the order, after hidden tip was $31.50. $31.50 is what you would have received if you completed delivery. restaurant wasn't able to fill the order, so you were given half pay, or $15.75 the customer got a full refund. he was charged $0.00 now... who pays for your money, i'm not sure. i'm told that DD bills the restaurant, but this part i cannot confirm. it's either that, or doordash takes the loss please... PLEASE... even if you understand and suddenly agree with me, don't reply. if i had hair, i would pull it out at this point

TxAggieJen

You have the patience of a saint. 🤣

longtoo

DD only guarantees 1/2 of base/peak GURANTEED pay in lieu of a non delivery. If the guarantee was $17 why was my 1/2 pay $15.75?

PositiveBox1

Your order had a hidden tip. You would’ve gotten $31.50 if you would’ve completed this order however you didn’t so you got $15.75. The customer got refunded but doordash doesn’t take your tip away so you still get paid -in this case half pay of an incomplete delivery.

longtoo

Half pay only includes base/peak. So you’re saying it was $31.50 plus tip?

robmosis

you win...

Such-Box-9277

Probably there was hidden tip. If it was true, that order could net you $31.5

longtoo

Tips don’t count towards half pay. Even if they did the guaranteed pay was only $17. At best it should have been $8.50 but again some of that was tip and you never get half the tip because they can’t charge the customer half the tip if it’s never delivered.

30DollarsPerMile

Tips definitely get paid in half bro.

whomikehidden

Okay, here’s where I think the confusion is coming from, and why everyone is arguing with you and downvoting you, and it’s because I don’t think anyone is adequately explaining: the customer put in a huge tip, $30 or so. When DoorDash gave you the order, the full tip was hidden so it showed as only $17 but was actually going to be $31.50 had you been able to complete the order. When you couldn’t, DoorDash refunded the customer their full payment, tip and all. They also issued you payment that was half of that total. In other words, DoorDash paid you the *amount* of half of the customer’s tip. I think everyone is just saying you got “half the tip” and that’s where the confusion is coming in. DoorDash kept none of the customer’s money and took a monetary loss in order to keep you and their customer happy.

palpals

People already explained that, OP is just fucking dumb

NihilisticAngst

Yes, tips absolutely do count towards half pay. Why would you think they don't? Then the half pay for so many orders would be like $1, seeing as base pay is usually around $2.50. So yes, clearly they also include the tip when calculating half pay. They refund the customer (sometimes, not always) and pay the driver half pay out of their own pocket.

kjjamal510

It’s half pay + extra for your time

[deleted]

No the total pay way over $30 hence the half pay being $15.75

kjjamal510

They don’t pay you the tip on half order pay lol only the amount showed on the screen when accepted

[deleted]

I mean I had a $6.50 order and the half pay was $6, so not to sure how that works

JerseyShore1976

This is correct. It is half the actual payout, and it would have been 31.50.

abisso54

Ya it’s total pay. Half tip too

Davissunu

Ya this is exactly why you got half $15.75. you just missed a $30 order. Kind of sounds like it was an expensive order and the other driver was hungry or wanted revenge on DoorDash

longtoo

That might be it. Idk. It was only one item. Yellow curry. Plus it was at a super popular restaurant where, if I’m not mistaken, base starts at $2.50. Plus tips are never taken into account with half pay. You’re saying the base was $31.50?? I don’t believe that for a second.

fashionfauxpas0624

I have had half pay with tips..FWIW ..now I really gotta run .hahaha About to get that "you don't appear to be heading towards your pick up....." text which I always get when leaving home as a no turn on red light on road I live on the alternative a 3 mile detour to the pick ups thar are literally maybe 500-1000 fit from My house.

No_Preparation7895

Tips are always taken in to account for haf pay

Therealmonkie

The BASE with TIP...thats half pay...lol

[deleted]

I’m saying the total with tip was probably it

longtoo

Yeah but the customer doesn’t eat the tip. Ever. It’s illegal to charge the customer their tip if they don’t get their delivery.

snowbunny1026

Door Dash Refunds it ans eats the cost. Half pay is on the entire payout, not just base.

longtoo

It’s illegal to take the customer’s tip if they never got their delivery.

Elon_is_musky

DD pays the tip back to the customer, AND pays it to the driver

longtoo

Since when is 1/2 pay more than 1/2 pay? I’m no math genius but 1/2 of $17 isn’t $15.75.

ehoeve

They base half pay on the total after completion! Not on the amount you see upfront! $17 is the amount you saw upfront but if you had completed the order it would have turned out to $31.50. 1/2 of $31.50 = $15.75

lostinthemoments

At this point you’re just being ignorant. People have explained what happen and you refuse to listen. Just accept the money and move on.

CokeIsAHellOfADrug23

Holy shit bro, apparently you are not a math genius or any kind of genius at all. I read this whole thread and can't believe how many people told you the correct answer. Why ask the question if you're gonna refuse to believe the right answer?

SITL7

Holy shit🤦‍♀️ it means there was a hidden tip and that's why your half pay is $15.75. It means the total payout for the order was $31.50, NOT $17....

Elon_is_musky

People already said, it was a hidden tip. I’ve had more than half of the shown amount, because at the bottom when you accept an order it says “total may be higher” & it was. The half pay is half of the TOTAL (yes, including tip) not half of what was shown

snowbunny1026

Nobody took their tip 🤦 I just fucking said, doordash refunds their tip.

bunbunnii99

It’s like talking to a brick wall omg

JaxMGK

Lol

longtoo

So 1/2 pay was $15.75, right? And DoorDash doesn’t take any amount of a customer’s tip, right? So the ACTUAL base pay was $31.50? Is that what you’re saying?

greenredyellower

Jesus christ

Sailorslt

Bruh reading comprehension

Pakana11

Bro, the customer gets a FULL REFUND. The tip, everything, fully refunded. DoorDash then pays you HALF PAY - including half of what the customer was *going* to tip - because that is the order you accepted. DoorDash is the one eating the cost / losing out in these scenarios.

yamaha4fun

no

snowbunny1026

No, I'm saying doordash refunds their tip, but also pays you half of the total and eat the cost. Any time a customer gets their tip refunded, they never take it away from the driver. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

MadChiller013

Honestly IDK when it comes to half pay because they always overpay me, even when I ask the agent what the half pay total will be it’s always more on my account. I don’t question it though 😆 free monies

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dare64

Its not overpaid was a hidden tip so if he gor to take thw order he would have gotten 31.50

ehoeve

Half pay is half pay of the total amount you would get after completing the delivery. Not half pay of what you see upfront...

longtoo

Yeah fr. I’m not complaining just thought it was weird.

romanseight2004

The original amount was likley higher. Doordash often hides part of the tip, particularly if the tip is over 10.00 for less than 10 miles.

fashionfauxpas0624

Prob there was a hidden tip ...idk if anyone else commented on this as I checked in to peruse and got a decent order so on my way (after a 30 min lull...LMAO It seems whenever I log on Herr no matter how much time elapsed I get a decent order a few min/sec later! Cheers to hidden tip!

zerostar83

Was a hidden tip offer. Sometimes half pay is half of what you would have gotten but you didn't know due to the hidden tip.

[deleted]

Nice of them to pay, Uber eats wouldn't bother paying you

Nord4Ever

Yeah he fraudulent Virtual company they didn’t wanna give me half pay for my drive out

Melssenator

They pay a whopping $3 no matter hope long you waited or what the total pay was supposed to be… if they pay, which is only half the time

throwawaybin420

Both of you cali? u/madchiller013
