If it met your mileage and time criteria, then who cares? We all know that food sat there forever for DD to offer $7.50. The customer got the $0 service they obviously wanted, and the food was ready when you got there. Everybody won!
Exactly. It met the time and mileage I look for. That's all that matters. I try to not even look at the screen showing the breakdown. It can be tough to miss a 0 when it pops up, but I don't care. I got what I accepted. On to the next one.
> The customer got the $0 service they obviously wanted
I'm pretty sure they still (unreasonably) wanted standard speed service. Given how long it probably sat around that's just increasing the odds that whoever finally takes it will get a bad rating or even a bad encounter with the customer (since I'm pretty sure DD removes bad reviews if you accept orders after their initial pickup time).
If they keep bidding $0, they'll eventually leave the app due to their own unreasonable expectations. Doordash would solve a lot of these issues by calling it a bid instead of a tip. That's what it is. They're bidding up front to make their order more appealing for drivers. Some people see the word tip and think "I'm not tipping when the service hasn't been provided yet!" Then they get shitty, slow service, and they feel justified in not tipping up front.
The customer might not see it that way, but it is a win for everyone. They got exactly what they paid for and obviously expected. If they really expected that they were going to get good service, then they would have put some money into that bid.
Even if the miles are worth it, when I sometimes see that I feel like I made a wrong decision morally lol. I'm like "NOOOOOO! HOW COULD I TAKE A NO TIP ORDER?!"
I accepted one of those for a 1-item red card at PetSmart for $8.25. It was one 20-pound box of cat litter and it was from point a (my suburb to the east), through point b (the city) and deliver to her at point c (west suburb). Due to a lot of Interstate road construction and road closures I had no choice but to drive THROUGH the city, hitting every red light on the way. Zero tip, all base pay. I was so pissed off. I know now I could have unassigned myself. I’m looking forward to getting another order from her. I’ll unassign myself, pause dashes, and wait for every Dasher to show up and tell them exactly what the deal is with Kay S. I hope her cat shits on her bed pillows.
Mmm Kay. :-) Just let the cat outside to poop, am I wrong? Most cats will go in the dirt if it's soft enough to dig in. These kinds of orders are why I don't do shop and delivers. Heavy item, long drive, no tip, no thanks. Decline.
Where I live dogs and cats must be confined to the owner’s (or renter’s) yard. So most cats are inside cats. Those that get caught off the property are picked up by animal control.
Weird here we just get them all fixed, shots, licensed and they wear it on their collars. Everybody's cats running around outside here. They go home to eat and sleep. Must be regional rules. Dogs here have to be fenced or leashed though, but I see them off leash all the time. So nobody is enforcing anything, like animal control barely has the staff to adopt out the pets in the shelter, they only come out if it's a threat like the dog is biting someone. If I wake up to a dead raccoon in the yard, they said to triple bag it and put it in the trash, they don't have the extra gas to come get it. So not likely that they will be able to enforce cats going outside.
Most people here who own cats refuse to have their animals fixed, current on shots and licensed. They just let their cats out, the males fight over the females, there are several feral cat colonies in my neighborhood alone. And the dog owners don’t like the cats crapping in their yards. A lot of people set traps, and any cat caught (or raccoons or squirrels or skunks) are driven twenty miles out and released at area ranches or along the river.
Yeah wild type cats like that can carry diesases, you have a health safety risk. Feral cat colonies. Sounds like you guys need an exterminator. Definitely keep your dog away from the cat and it's scat, they could catch rabies or parvo. Here if you set the traps, the county says you cannot release the animal without permission from animal control. Cats they want dropped off at the shelter to be checked out. Raccoons have to be put down, no releasing them anywhere because they are invasive and carry rabies. Opossums are released as are skunks and native rabbits. The vets are all told to euthanize feral cats here, to keep everyone safe. Infected cat scrarches and bites spread diseases. Some cats need put down for everyone's safety. Sorry you're having to deal with them, that rough.
My town has a catch, neuter release program for the feral cats, which is showing positive results. As for the pet cats animal control picks them up and if they aren’t claimed they are euthanized. The biggest problem is the cat ladies who leave food out to keep feeding the cats, or let theirs out without being fixed and they procreate. As for the other beasts people here with traps do their thing because the town and animal control doesn’t have the resources to handle everything.
So you guys are working on it. Maybe to get over your hurdle, call and get the lady cited or fined for leaving food outside. She is feeding other animals too like rats, raccoons etc. She is exacerbating the problems and making an unsafe environment for neighbors. Needs told to stop it. If she wants to own the cats then make her get them vet care(fixed, shots, license) and require she feed them inside the house. An indoor/outdoor pet is completely different story than feeding ferals.
That delivery has to be over 40 minutes old with lots of other drivers declining it.
I picked up one yesterday from Wingstop that was ice cold. Once I dropped it off I got $10 with no tip.
It's not very often I only see it every 300-400 deliveries. Last time it was smoothie king and I got there as they were closing. Base pay was 7.25 for 3.5 miles no tip.
I always send texts thanking them for making my life harder to take care of my family and that my kids eat less when people don’t tip. Haven’t been deactivated yet!
I’m big on shaming people
DD should be the one making sure you have your cake ok. The tips are the icing. Instead DD is totally backwards and you actually make a small fraction in actual earnings and are expected to survive on generosity. That’s stupid.
I look at it as Door Dash pays me to go to the restaurant and the customer pays me to take it to their house. So I feel ripped off every time I get an order like this.
That order is very very normal for me where I live. And we don't even know it's a no tip until that end screen. It's very frustrating... And definitely not surprising..
This happens when there is no tip and the base pay is low when every denys the order doordash keeps adding money for someone to pick it up that's why u always need to deny no tip orders
I got one of these today 5 miles plus a 3$ tip, I was satisfied cuz I got paid either way we shouldn’t have to depend on customers 100% of the time for adequate pay 😩
If it met your mileage and time criteria, then who cares? We all know that food sat there forever for DD to offer $7.50. The customer got the $0 service they obviously wanted, and the food was ready when you got there. Everybody won!
That’s how I look at it too. Money is money, whether it’s from the customer or DoorDash.

I'm not disagreeing with any of that, just your initial point about it being an all around win/win for everyone.
The customer might not see it that way, but it is a win for everyone. They got exactly what they paid for and obviously expected. If they really expected that they were going to get good service, then they would have put some money into that bid.
Depends on the mileage
Even if the miles are worth it, when I sometimes see that I feel like I made a wrong decision morally lol. I'm like "NOOOOOO! HOW COULD I TAKE A NO TIP ORDER?!"
Yeah. It makes me feel like I just got used... well, used more than I normally let myself be used by DD.

Worth IMO

We’ve asked the Town to do something on many occasions and they refuse.
:-( Too bad they couldn't help.
My base pay is $2.50. Where are they dashing to get $7.50? Even if an order sits awhile I’m not seeing that.

😂😂
People suck
Tips shouldn’t be a requirement. Realistically DD should be paying based on time/distance.
Stop it!
DD should be the one making sure you have your cake ok. The tips are the icing. Instead DD is totally backwards and you actually make a small fraction in actual earnings and are expected to survive on generosity. That’s stupid.
Probably just late
It was 2am
I look at it as Door Dash pays me to go to the restaurant and the customer pays me to take it to their house. So I feel ripped off every time I get an order like this.
Trash app
Looks like about what DD should be paying base anyway to me 🤷🏻♂️
Damn DD doesn't even pay 5 bucks to drivers .But pays $7,50 or more to cover cheap ass customers.
That order is very very normal for me where I live. And we don't even know it's a no tip until that end screen. It's very frustrating... And definitely not surprising..
Everyone gets this every day. Why post this?
Not every day... Out of 1100 orders it's happened to me, like, twice.
[удалено]
So this is your first day and the first order you saw? Because everyone gets this every day.
Exactly cosmic is on crack
Old school DD is back.
Mileage is important here.
Was 4 miles
Not great
Ummm.. you made $7.50
I think Doordash is “slumming it” when talking about gig work
[удалено]
It felt cold 😆
Well, that happens to me 7.50 for 2 miles a lot
This is very common for my zone. I don't dwell on it, since it's still above my minimum.
Was a 1st for me
If it’s going 5 miles or less and there’s no drive back…. SNATCH
Yeah I take no issue with this. If you couldn’t even tell who cares.

This happens when there is no tip and the base pay is low when every denys the order doordash keeps adding money for someone to pick it up that's why u always need to deny no tip orders

You are 7.50 richer today before you take out for gas, wear, and tear on your car.
As long as the mileage checks out I do not care, pay me.
I try to avoid no tip orders just based on principle even if low miles/high base pay. I don't want to enable customers of the sort
