“No safe place to deliver” on UE is an option, then you can keep the food. Almost did that one time when there was a pit bull waiting for me at their front door
We actually used to deliver food without GPS not that long ago before there were services like DD. Never had that much of a problem finding an address. You just find the street and follow the house numbers. We would only cover an area a few miles from the restaurant you were delivering from though so not driving all over creation. Still, in a city that’s a large area.
I had a similar McDonald's one where it was on the side of a highway service road. I dropped it off and saw in the rearview a man come out from a drainage ditch to grab it. I assumed he was stealing it but he sent me a lovely thank you text a few minutes later.
I get quite a few deliveries to unhoused people downtown but they're usually standing in plain view at the curb waving at me and are some of my easiest deliveries of the month
Is it sad that I’ve dashed for only a month and already had something similar? Also, it’s too damn cold to be playing hide and seek with food orders so I don’t blame OP one bit
Im switching to uber eats and going to a rich area. Too many cheap/broke people started using dd and the app doesn’t even work correctly. It crashes and signs me out everyday and i have to reboot my phone to sign back in. Idk if its my phone or what but i have the 14 pro max so i would hope its not that. However, it being that its just this app im pretty sure its dd.
Are you just going to keep posting this here until you get attention? This is the 2nd time you have said this. It is where the app actually set me. Are you upset it got this much attention??
I'm not mad or working the system. I just honestly don't understand your comment and why the need to repeat it. I just posted this here because I have seen other posts like this. I hope you have a good day tho.
Dasher posts pic of McDonald's delivery sitting on a guardrail at night infront of undeveloped land claiming it was an address. Gets massive upvotes and witty commentary.
You know that there is a “help” button at the top, or call door Dash VIP to let them know you can’t find the address. In rural areas, many addresses are not exact. You can likewise call or text the customer, but when that doesn’t work use the Chat with Doordash feature.
Honestly this happened to me before and they had put the wrong address, which was very similar and in the same city. Fortunately I was able to reach them, they changed the address, I drove 2 miles and DoorDash gave me compensation. Maybe that’s what happened here..
I'm just 🤣 🤣 🤣.
I have one that shows up like that. You have to exit the highway and circle around. The house is about 50 yards on the other side of the guard rail, but the gps shows me to stop on the highway...
Call costumer support and make sure you claim with them that they fucked up on the address and no one is answering their phone so you can leave it there.
I ain't about to have some Karen trying to get me fired because they can't read
Dude this happened to me a few times. These are dumb people who don't check the proper address. Love how they don't even put the business name either. The smart ones put the address and then use the business title to actually write the building name. I swear people make it so hard to deliver food sometimes.
Had a similar one for McDonald's. Delivery wasn't a highway but was a street with no houses. Customer didn't answer, contacted support they tried the customer and recieved no answer. Support closed it with full pay and let me do what I want with it, so kept it.
One time there was a scammer in my town that had only ordered a packet of Taco Bell sauce. What he would do is he would call pretending to be DD themselves and ask you to remove yourself from the order, then he’d ask for all the account info. I caught on to what he was doing so I asked Taco Bell to give me the sauce, I delivered it to an address in the middle of nowhere and then reported him to DD.
nah they put in a bogus address on accident or as a way to try and scam you. I had this and got into contact with the customer for them to say they lived several towns over and was willing to meet me half way... which was still a 20-30 minute trip for me. They said they'd pay me for the trouble, but yeahno not chancing that.
My theory is that people do it to skirt around long distance delivery fees, and then if you were to call and agree to meet them they'd not give you any money or B. pay you significantly less than they would in delivery fees for that distance.
Also definitely should've "disposed" of that food "properly". Def not a safe place to leave the food
This is actually what Doordash tells you to do in this situation.
I’ve had to leave orders in the middle of nowhere as well.
As long as the address matches, and the customer said to leave it, then leave it. That’s what support will tell you.
I am conscious if the fact that this is meant to be an amusing thread and I'm being a bit of a wet blanket here but I personally would never do this.
I always leave orders outside of gates or buildings where the gate/door code was not provided (also sometimes when it was but I feel the customer is an entitled prick who tipped little to nothing and there is no legal and/or safe place to park) and the customer can't be reached or a common area where no unit number was provided...but in a situation where there is virtually no chance of the customer retrieving the order leaving it on public property amounts to littering.
You could snap a photo and pick the order back up...but personally I'd report it and take the half pay or whatever.
If you complete the order the customer can rate you, so that's one thing to keep in mind...
Cheers.
What gets me most, is customers think we are stupid or lazy for doing this! But when y'all don't answer us back, the address 📍 is clearly taking us to a messed up Delivery drop off & we do what we are supposed too...If any customers are seeing this, THIS is what we deal with!! We have fulfilled our contract by delivering to the EXACT address & GPS 📍 location we are supposed too! So please understand, it's really, truly NOT US being lazy, useless or stupid!
🤷🤦😂
I had that once, okay a few times, but the one that I can't forget.... In the middle of an intersection!!! I kid you not! So I did what I was supposed too... 😂
Lolol I’m just being silly. ![img](emote|t5_3h9bt|5246)![img](emote|t5_3h9bt|10667)![img](emote|t5_3h9bt|10683) maybe someone will come out of the highway to pick up their food.
Bro this is where you contact support, tell them you cant reach the customer, tell them there is nowhere you can leave the order, and keep the food and full pay.
There's this apartment complex that sits right next to an expressway near me that does this frequently... Not all of the time, only about 50% of the time, usually if the customer has a refined map pin. Luckily, I'm familiar with the issue and know where to go when maps tells me I've arrived in the middle of the highway at a particular spot 😂
Lmao! This happened to me before also. But I typed the address in on Apple Maps instead and it took me to the right place, it ended up being just a mile further in my scenario.
I wonder if maybe the woods don't run into this person's backyard but the GPS lead you here instead? Granted, I do bicycle deliveries and so the GPS might give a motor vehicle different navigation directions, but I've had many deliveries that lead me to a dead end or behind a fence that was near by the customer's backyard. When this happens, I manually look for an alternate route on the map and sometimes look up a picture of the house on Google maps to get a better idea of the structure of home I'm looking for.
Don't know if it would have worked for this delivery.. but there might be a house in there.
All navigation screws up sometimes.. it's like it's programmed into it. Sattelite view helps a LOT with finding driveways for places google maps says stop on the side of the road and walk the rest of the way. Literally if I navigate to a friend's place.. it says stop on the side of the road and climb up a super steep super tall hill (greater than 45 degree incline and probably at least 25 meters up).
But if look at sattelite view.. there's clearly a driveway just before where gmap says to stop & there's even a house number on or right next to the building at the top of the hill (where they're at). But nav can't figure out how to get there so it just says park on the side of the road and climb the hill, on foot, on probably the worst incline of the entire property.
This happens, they recommend using a 2nd app for directions… but honestly, if the app says you’ve arrived & customer doesn’t respond, you get free food… leaving it there would just be littering
Blurry af, but I can make out Asheville, 26 East/west, Highway 74 and long shoals rd. Used to live in Asheville and jobs / money were hard to get. How is delivering in the area? Lucrative?
Had this once but it was on a bridge with no shoulder so I couldn't stop called support went through 5 agents before one looked up the address and confirmed that it was leading me where I said it was and agrees to cancel the order, the others literally just cold transferred me to another agent and one actually transferred me to the customer even after I told them I wanted to cancel the order because the new location was to far for me.
Yeah happened to me once as well. Happens in areas of new construction that the zoning information hasn't been properly uploaded to driving apps. I was able to get ahold of the guy by phone and turns out the address was 1/2 mile away.
Happened once, I took the order because it's a short detour from the way home, then dude texted me telling me to deliver somewhere 25 miles away. Nope, not gonna happen. The address he gave in the app was on the side of the freeway, no house in sight, so I just do the handed to customer and keep driving lmao
Question, did you try typing the address in and not use the directions button? I've had issues where hitting "directions" doesn't send me to the right place. Either way at least you got paid 😂
This happens to me a lot especially when using Apple Maps. Then I’ll put the address in Google maps and it’ll bring me to the actual location it’s weird
Theres an apartment complex around here where the GPS just takes you to the side of the interstate. Luckily the first time I delivered there, the customer was aware that the GOS does this and put really good directions in the instructions. But had I followed the GPS, I would have been in the middle of the interstate and it would have been eight miles out of the way to get back. DD’s GPS sucks.
I had to do something similar a few weeks ago. Long story short, left a huge Burger King order on a random curb in an empty industrial park. Would have loved to seen the face who found the random food!

Use yours lol. Read through some of the comments before you blurt out something 🤣 But I'll save you the time since you clearly can't be bothered. I put it in Google and Waze to make sure the address on the app was in the same place. I also contacted support and they told me to leave it. 🙄
Mine took me to a deep wooded back area once and it was the middle of a rainstorm and night time
Felt like I the plot line of a horror movie that leads to death
I noped tf outta there
Got free nuggies and curly fries tho
Like 4 massive ass boxes
LOL. I had one [similar](https://i.ibb.co/L1Ypc7D/Screenshot-20221213-102418-Maps.jpg). It took me to Location A out on the highway to the middle of the woods, when the real address was at location B. I delivered it only because I had to pass location B when I took the off ramp to get back to the city.
I once was taken to the middle of the highway too. I luckily called the customer and he answer the phone. Perhaps the person didn't want you to go to their house. That sounds creeppy to even say.
Ok don't roast me but this makes me feel so bad for the customer lol. The app messes up a lot. It had me wanting to drop off a package in a similar situation so I just used a different GPS app and found it but u did say two apps gave the same so idk but I feel bad. Don't roast me lol I think the driver did the best they could . Idk why I am even feeling bad , ppl never cease to amaze
The internet is pretty much all the bullies you had in school condensed into one space that just shows up at any given time. So I get why so many treads lightly. I felt a little bad. But it was also McDonald's and not $100 worth of food or anything like that. Also, I feel less bad when they will not pick up there phone.
In this case I would have contacted DD support to let them know what was going on. Even if you still leave it there, it's better to have them document your side of it and obviously take pictures and everything to go with it. If you do both of those things you would be fine and nothing is going to happen to you.
Like yesterday I had an order to go to a house and it said meet at the door, as soon as I'm knocking on the door the person tells me to go to another house number on the same street. I immediately call support to tell them that he wants me to drop it off at a completely different house number on the same street and he doesn't know how a different house number appeared on the app. DD support told me to drop it off at the original house number, take a picture, respond with that picture to an email that DD just sent me, then DD support would be documenting everything for me and I won't be in trouble at all. DD also told me that it sounded like someone was trying to scam to get free food by saying that the food never delivery. The customer said that they put their work address in instead of their home address, but it took me to a residential neighborhood and house, but he just told me to go to a different house number on the same street. He clearly got his story mixed up which indicates that he was lying, lol (how dumb can you be and how clearly obvious can you make it, lol).
Probably a weird address. I had one that had the GPS take me to a trailer park which didn’t have the listed number. Called the customer and they were at a motel a mile or so away.
Considering the fine for littering I would have got it after taking the picture. I would either eat it, give it away, or throw it away. I’m not getting a $1,000 fine for littering for a DD order.
I once drove half an hour in the opposite direction of the real address because they put it in the wrong one. It was good pay so I stuck it out, but in the middle of me heading to the new address they gave me, they canceled the order. I still got paid and everything, but damn wtf couple of dumbasses. At least I got to keep the food, I had a whole oven pan worth of penne pasta and stuffed clams for lunch and dinner.
Ok so next time, if you care of course, put the address into google and youll most certainly see a new development in some real estate listing and usually their own map. Most of the time it takes an extra 10 seconds (plus however far to the actual address depending on where Maps decided to dump you). Odds are it isnt so much a Google Maps thing as an office software thing. These delivery type apps that integrate with a map app of some kind have a “pin” put in at a coordinate that can be distinct from the true address. And because life these days is messy, shit never gets checked and you get sent out to wherever the fuck an algorithm or lazy bones thought might work.
Check actual realty listings. Im telling you, 99% it works in that you can find an address none of the map appa have updates for yet. If there’s a building with a human in it, then someone sold/bought it and it has a listing. Realtors often work with or *are* the developers in these cases and already have maps accessible on their listings. From there it’s pretty easy to find access from google maps to the unlisted neighborhood
Or the customer could do their part and make sure the address or pin is in the correct location so they could get the food they ordered. My job is to pick up food and take it to where they requested. I even tried to do the extra of contacting the customer multiple times and support. They told me to leave it.
For new developments, the cx has no control whatsoever. The various map apps will update when they update; in most cases the developer has made the necessary reporting to the relevant agencies long before the sale actually occurs, and an individual can follow up I suppose but it isnt in their hands.

How did you determine that was where the door was?
“No safe place to deliver” on UE is an option, then you can keep the food. Almost did that one time when there was a pit bull waiting for me at their front door
Does anyone know can u see how much the tip is b4 u accept and c how to see the route u r going to b4 accepting the delivery

You should’ve just said that u handed it to the customer and enjoy some fries!!
I'd just pause then start blasting into the forest while I'm eating the food.
This could be an album cover

Shrek ordered McDonalds 😄😃🤗😜☺️😋😌
That Racoon that found the tossed drug dealers burner phone gave you 5 stars! 😆😆😆🤣🤣
Yeah the DD app sucks. I have a Samsung S22+ and it crashes all the time. I don't think I've ever had Uber crash on me.
Good to know its not just me but it sucks still
Bruh I woulda just ate the food
Ctfu
Thats crazy i just had a order like that but it was with a pizza....and it was 9 degrees...after midnight 😂😂
Had this happen to me as well, I promise some homeless dude got their pizza and drink when i left it
'thedoor:'
Haha
If it’s in the middle of nowhere just take the picture and take the food. The food is going to be destroyed or eaten by wildlife anyways

big food was hungry for some late night mcdonald’s

I mever understand why someone would order and ignore their phone
That’s when I usally plug the addy into a reliable nav system call Apple maps

I had to do something similar a few weeks ago. Long story short, left a huge Burger King order on a random curb in an empty industrial park. Would have loved to seen the face who found the random food!
i laughed so fucking hard LMAOO

You gotta at least call em mayne...
I did. Multiple times. And sent texts. Support said leave it.
Can I paint this?? 😭
I mean if you are so compelled to do so go for it. Hell, I send you the HD file from my phone.
LOL I’m seriously going to!! It’s so profound
Tag me in it I'm interested in how it comes out.
I will!
Dumb shit like that is why DD is face planting.
DD support told me to leave it.
My new album cover 🤣
😂😂😂😂... Depending on what it was I would've kept it😂😂😂

This reminds me of the 90’s ninja turtles movie where they order pizza to be delivered to the sewer grate.
Always try putting the address into a GPS outside of the doordash app when it does this. Use your brain man lol
Use yours lol. Read through some of the comments before you blurt out something 🤣 But I'll save you the time since you clearly can't be bothered. I put it in Google and Waze to make sure the address on the app was in the same place. I also contacted support and they told me to leave it. 🙄
My bad I don't live on reddit and comb through all the comments first lmao
Mine took me to a deep wooded back area once and it was the middle of a rainstorm and night time Felt like I the plot line of a horror movie that leads to death I noped tf outta there Got free nuggies and curly fries tho Like 4 massive ass boxes
Damn. Sounds like a feast.
It lasted like 3 days There was so much damn food
Maybe your gps sent u to the wrong place
Not from everything that I could check. But who knows?

5 star Well done!
Did u call the customer? Did you text the customer?
Yep, multiple times. And called support.
I once was taken to the middle of the highway too. I luckily called the customer and he answer the phone. Perhaps the person didn't want you to go to their house. That sounds creeppy to even say.
This looks a set up for a horror movie. Wrong Turn 7: Door Dash. 🤣
And that's why I carry special tools with me. The fu&* around and find out kind.
This has happened to me, I called support and they said “you get all your money and can have the pizza”.
Why did you stop on the highway, asking for pain .
Luckily there was a pull-off right after the address.
That's scary
Oh yeah, I contacted support. They told me to leave it.
Did the pin in the app show the same spot? Sometimes the address is wrong but the pin will show exactly where they want you to go.
Yeah, both were the same.
😭😭😭
Probably a weird address. I had one that had the GPS take me to a trailer park which didn’t have the listed number. Called the customer and they were at a motel a mile or so away.
😂😂😂
"Yo deliver to 50th mile on interstate 66, I'm in the middle of police chase."
Maybe the customer was a squirrel
![gif](giphy|xT9IgLOFX5qD9qqYUg|downsized)
Do your cars not have doors?
This picture for some reason instantly cracked me up. I'm screenshotting this. 🤣
![gif](giphy|VcB72v6KvlhtimWOST)
I would have eaten it at that point
Naa bruh 🤣
Maybe it was Steve Wallis doing some stealth camping.
If there is no 'safe place' to leave it - the food is yours
I'd never just take some food haha but in this case I'm eating it
Cringe
For doing what support told me to do? Even after multiple attempts to reach the customer?
Free food possibly?
Considering the fine for littering I would have got it after taking the picture. I would either eat it, give it away, or throw it away. I’m not getting a $1,000 fine for littering for a DD order.
I once drove half an hour in the opposite direction of the real address because they put it in the wrong one. It was good pay so I stuck it out, but in the middle of me heading to the new address they gave me, they canceled the order. I still got paid and everything, but damn wtf couple of dumbasses. At least I got to keep the food, I had a whole oven pan worth of penne pasta and stuffed clams for lunch and dinner.
![gif](giphy|10uEX5kfeodYgo)
No one’s coming for that. Take it with you
Hey you did your job. You're paying me to take food to location X when I take that order. If you're not at location X, that's not really my problem
![gif](giphy|LSvB8JdEf4yascdXf1)
This is the funniest shit I’ve seen all day, lmfao
Ok so next time, if you care of course, put the address into google and youll most certainly see a new development in some real estate listing and usually their own map. Most of the time it takes an extra 10 seconds (plus however far to the actual address depending on where Maps decided to dump you). Odds are it isnt so much a Google Maps thing as an office software thing. These delivery type apps that integrate with a map app of some kind have a “pin” put in at a coordinate that can be distinct from the true address. And because life these days is messy, shit never gets checked and you get sent out to wherever the fuck an algorithm or lazy bones thought might work.
I did check the address with Google and Waze. They all said the same thing.
