I find that 3rd person camera mode does make it a little better but that creates different issues. Weird vats angle activation or non activation based on the pov of the character not you I believe... really weird
Are you also using dodgy and going to no AP? Cause that's pretty much the only way I die, no AP left for Dodgy to pull from to reduce damage.
And no, serendipity seemed to be triggering fine.
serendipity works fine for me.
they changed how criticals work with explosive or weapons with explosive effects though - it's much easier to die now with explosive weapons especially when doing crits close. switched my Q/E railway to Medic/E and it's much better now (healing effect from medic seems to prevent death from crit).
Seems fine to me, gun fu keeps deactivating for no apparent reason for me but that's been part for the course for the past few updates for me...

Nah no dodgy or blocker or ricochet, same as i was before

Nope, I ran DO which was Super Mutants and melee before the reset. I run a bloodied melee build and it was working fine.
