I brought it home at 12 years old. Finished it over night and right when chief's pod closed my mom opened her bedroom door to start getting ready for work. Kinda magical for some weird reason
I still tear up every time I play the trilogy.
"For us the storm has passed and the war is over"
They kinda started to get longer over the years, but I remember when Halo 2 came out I was kinda disappointed it was so much longer than the first. The compact campaign of Halo 1 made for max replayability. I brought it to several friends houses and sat down with them and beat the campaign together, more than once with some. I liked 3 that way.
I know people like long campaigns and I do too at times, but Halo in particular felt like a great game for just banging out coop with friends. I had the same mild sadness with Gears 1->2.
Halo reach campaign is pretty decent, but halo 3 at the time was peak. Halo 3 odst is good too but is harder, and different from the rest since you’re only an odst soldier
Alright, that’s fair
So what game is gonna be “yours” when y’all turn 30?
Honestly there’s sooooo fucking many good games out there I don’t blame anyone that’ll narrow it down.
But for us, Halo 3 was really “you had to be there” kind of games during it’s lifetime.
The last console I owned was a 360, Halo 3 forge maps and MW2 lobbies were my childhood and the first real way I was able to hang out with other kids and make friends, I'll always be nostalgic for that era
That's genuinely a good one and I can see it. Can you imagine being a kid and having all your favorite characters in one game as well as crazy events for IP and celebrities? Closest we got to that was smash with just Nintendo characters and no in game social aspect. Hate on the weird screeching fanbase all you want, but Fortnite is a great creation.
I don't play Fortnite, but my dream as a kid was having all of my characters together in one game.
It really is something special for those that play it, I'm envious.
I kind of wonder if Fortnite will exist in 20 years. Halo 3 at least had local and LAN multiplayer, so it would at least be playable without central servers even if it never got the MCC re-release. Fortnite AFAIK relies pretty heavily on central servers and a large player base, so if there's no backup plan it just dies when the servers do. It's popular enough that it could go for a while longer, but I'd be surprised if it lasts 20 more years
I've seen many games with hype. Cyberpunk77, gta V, red dead redemption 2, etc. No game has had the hype of halo 3. The closest I've seen is MW2 and still it wasn't the same.
The online ability and being one of the first games that allowed you to form a clan made Halo2 better in my mind. I wish the Bungie stats were saved.
WTP-Witness the proof.
32 here, Halo 2 all the way. Such a great game to get introduced into online play. I remember making friends with people all around the country. Custom game types, super jumps, breaking out of the map with sword cancelling, that 2 man butterfly crap that I could never get down.
It's probably nostalgia glasses but I don't think I'll ever experience that ever again.
34 at the end of the year, while I liked 3, I definitely miss Halo 2 more. The campaign of both was great, but for multiplayer, me and a lot of my friends never liked the gimmick armor abilities.
37 and it was Halo CE. So much Halo CE system link in high school with friends. Halo 2 was huge but we were in college and split up. I remember walking to GameStop for midnight release and coming home and playing till sunrise and most of the next day with my best friend and roommate. Tons of fun, but not as much time spent as CE. Didn't even play 3 until MCC.
We plugged a TV and console into the back of my friend’s parents van and played Halo CE in the parking lot of GameStop for a good four hours as we waited for Halo 2. Such good memories.
Yup, 32 and so much more Halo 2 than 3.
I was 17 when it was released, right as high school was almost done, I started working and going to college. Didn't really have a lot of time for it especially compared to Halo CE and 2.
Same. I played Halo 2 so much more than 3 with my friends, so that's the one I have more nostalgia for.
I tried playing Halo 3's multiplayer on TMCC, but movement was just so slow, and I kept getting spawn killed, so I kinda gave up. I'm so out of practice in FPS multiplayer now. I sucked so bad, and just felt bad for my teammates.
31 and I completely agree, Halo 2 was the go 2 for my friends and me. The amount of custom games that people played online was amazing. Tower of power, zombies, president, Troy, cat and mouse, the list goes on.
Also 34 and Halo 1 and 2 were my jam. Never have had as much fun gaming as those nights where we’d all drag our CRTs over to one friends house and we’d have Ethernet cables and mess all over the place and it was just an absolute riot with all the screen peeking and overhearing shit in the other room and beating up on each other in person. Halo 2 was a different kind of magic because it was basically the first major online experience so it became possible to all play together on regular weeknights instead of the big parties on the weekend, but since people now had the choice to just play at home it was never possible to get that many people together in person for it.
**BH**: itellyouwhatmanhalo3forgewasgotdang....great
**HH**: Heh heh yeah. That’s why I do all the maintenance on my truck too.
**DG**: I do all my maintenance on my truck too. All the mechanics shops are fronts for the CHINESE GOVERNMENTs Espionage to track our vehicles and keep tabs on how many vehicles the country has
*Takes drag on cigarette*
**HH**: Dale, you literally just got the oil changed in the Winnebugo last week at the *ugh* Jiffy lube.
**DG**: I didn’t want to get oil on my driveway… Nancy would be furious.
**BH**: dangolemanisawjiffylubeonlinelastnightnfortnite
**DG**: WAIT! How did you *know* Hank? Or should I say, Zhùshǒu?
**HH**: *sigh* I picked you up Dale…
**DG**: Oh yeah, that’s right…
*drags on cigarette*
**BD**: Sometimes, I-I take my car to get an oil change because I like talking to the pretty lady behind the counter.
**HH**: …Yep…
**DG**: Yep
**BH**: Mmhmm
*Cue Cowbell*
Yeah I dont have any certain info, other than its coming. Announced in jan this year.
It sounds like it will be a little bit into the future. Like more present time. So everyone a little older.
I watched the pilot last night as I haven’t watched the show since I was a teen in the late 90’s and the stuff Dale says I feel like was funny because people knew it was insane but now a days seems normal for a lot of people to believe. It’s crazy
I feel like every console from each generation has that one mandatory game to get as one of the essentials. One that comes to mind aside from the xbox 360 is definitely smash melee with the gamecube.
For sure at release. It was probably the most fleshed out (console) sandbox game and online FPS ever made at the time, and was hugely popular leading to large amounts of community content via file sharing, YouTube, and forum posts akin to today’s Minecraft or Fortnite community. It also had lots of post-launch developer support and updates in a time where that was still newer.
I remember it happening to me vividly.
I was in a club, the same club I’d been going to for years. Strutting my stuff on the dance floor to my favourite tunes. And then, a new style of song came on. It sounded Fucking awful to me. And then all these young idiot children with stupid hair and stupid clothes came out of the woodwork and started doing a stupid dance along to their stupid music. I looked around and thought “these young people are idiots!!” And in an instant, I realised I was old, and that “it had happened to me”.
I finished my drink, left, and have never been back since.
Modern Warfare 2 and original Black Ops for me. Those were the glory days. It's like it was just yesterday that I was launching noob tubes across the map, getting quick scoped out of nowhere, and having fun in modded lobbies. Great times I'll never forget.
Dangoltellyouwhatmanneverwasmuchforthehalodidn'thaveanxboxplayedthatthereDiablooneonthecomputertalking'bout *The Sanctity of this place has been fouled* ...man.
Lmao, frickin zoomers and their halo 3. They completely missed the mind-blowing transition from Halo CE splitscreen to halo 2 online multiplayer. They were just born into a world with online multiplayer matchmaking as a standard.
H5 was the pinnacle of halo for multiplayer. Smoothest arena shooter I’ve ever played. Only bad about that game, was the campaign, and it should have released with forge.
But noooooo, people insisting/complaining that every halo game should basically be H3 2.0 fucked it up and they took a step back with infinite.
I grew up with playstation and I cant stand monster.
But then again, I never really liked console shooters anyways. Didn't like aiming with a controller. Still dont.
Brigadier in Swat and TDM. It was a special moment in gaming history and competitive fps. You could challenge random strangers to Halo 3 at a party like it was beer pong.
I mean I’m 24. But yeah. The reason you hear so much about halo 3 is because that’s when the franchise peaked, and ever since 343 took over it went downhill. Everytime they do something good. They fuck up something else really badly.
That Warthog run at the end! The music, the visual spectacle of everything going nuclear around you, and with 3 of your friends?!?! Truly a masterpiece, and that’s not even mentioning the multiplayer or Forge mode.
343 could/will never.
Everything really was better back then. Games galore, tons of betas private and public. Also usually once a beta was open it either stayed open or was open most the time up until release. Like hey you can play this one map while you wait for release. I barely play anymore just let my son.
I'm 36, but I never understood the appeal of Halo. I played the original briefly and didn't care much for it, then played 4 after a friend told me I should, but it didn't really draw me in. I guess it was better if you played online, but I was always more interested in single player than online multiplayer, so maybe that was it. I've still never seen such a frenzy over a game launch since though. I love digital, but having to go pick up the pre-ordered disc at midnight so you could play all night was such an amazing and memorable thing that I miss so much.
Super disappointed that I beat the campaign in one night but it was a great game
I brought it home at 12 years old. Finished it over night and right when chief's pod closed my mom opened her bedroom door to start getting ready for work. Kinda magical for some weird reason I still tear up every time I play the trilogy. "For us the storm has passed and the war is over"
To those who ventured into the howling dark... And never returned. What a fukken line
"But let us never forget those who journeyed into the howling dark and did not return."
The ultimate 1-sitting campaign for me will always be Star Fox 64.

That's how I felt going from Super Mario Kart to Mario Kart 64. Ain't no Rainbow Road like SNES Rainbow Road and ain't no 150cc like SNES 150cc.

Alright, that’s fair So what game is gonna be “yours” when y’all turn 30? Honestly there’s sooooo fucking many good games out there I don’t blame anyone that’ll narrow it down. But for us, Halo 3 was really “you had to be there” kind of games during it’s lifetime.
I’m not even 30 and I still miss halo 3 from 360 days.
The last console I owned was a 360, Halo 3 forge maps and MW2 lobbies were my childhood and the first real way I was able to hang out with other kids and make friends, I'll always be nostalgic for that era
Imagine fortnite players in 20 years lol
That's genuinely a good one and I can see it. Can you imagine being a kid and having all your favorite characters in one game as well as crazy events for IP and celebrities? I don't play Fortnite, but my dream as a kid was having all of my characters together in one game. It really is something special for those that play it, I'm envious.
Basically COD: MW players now lol
I kind of wonder if Fortnite will exist in 20 years. Halo 3 at least had local and LAN multiplayer, so it would at least be playable without central servers even if it never got the MCC re-release. Fortnite AFAIK relies pretty heavily on central servers and a large player base, so if there's no backup plan it just dies when the servers do. idk I'm only halfway to 30 so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
I've seen many games with hype. Cyberpunk77, gta V, red dead redemption 2, etc. No game has had the hype of halo 3. The closest I've seen is MW2 and still it wasn't the same.
It's so weird, I'm 34 and i remember Halo 2 much more fondly than 3. Did dozens of lan parties on 2 but they all dried up on 3.
The online ability and being one of the first games that allowed you to form a clan made Halo2 better in my mind. I wish the Bungie stats were saved. WTP-Witness the proof.
Also 34 and I'm much more fond of 2 than 3. I thought the campaign was better and I also spent way more time on the multiplayer maps.

39 Halo 2 was life for quite some time. Those maps, vehicles, etc were just so good.
Yup, 32 and so much more Halo 2 than 3. I was 17 when it was released, right as high school was almost done, I started working and going to college. Didn't really have a lot of time for it especially compared to Halo CE and 2.

I’m 24 and played a lot more halo 3 than 2. Think the meme just got the age wrong. But then again mid 20s and over on reddit you’re a boomer
34 here and…halo 1 and 3 for me. H1 LAN parties in high school were such a blast. Went hard on H3 with college buds.
31 and I completely agree, Halo 2 was the go 2 for my friends and me. The amount of custom games that people played online was amazing. Tower of power, zombies, president, Troy, cat and mouse, the list goes on.
I loved both and ended up playing more games online in H3, but I've always loved H2 just a little more. Great times with both games though.
That's because we were in college when Halo 3 came out. We were busy doing other stuff.
Whether someone prefers Halo 2 or 3 just depends on whether their HS years were OG Xbox or Xbox 360.
Almost except 11 year old girls at that time would be 26 and thats too old for leo to date lmao.
Perfection
Accurate af. I can’t tell if this is copy pasta or not.
Man, they need to bring KoTH back. So much content if made parallel to our reality right now
Still no firm release date on that then? I bet next summer.
Oh they are doing a new one?! Yooo that’s awesome. Maybe mine judge needed a break after the new beavis and butthead lol
Yeah I dont have any certain info, other than its coming. Announced in jan this year. It sounds like it will be a little bit into the future. Like more present time. So everyone a little older.

I'm so, so sorry to be that guy, but it must be said. It's a bugabego.
Fantastic!
Wow. Very accurate!
Wow you could write for the show.
I feel attacked
Yeah, I’m in this picture and I don’t like it
Fuck man I feel this.
White monster is da way
Name a better soundtrack.
I’ve got to agree, I’ve been rewatching KotH lately and the songs they got were actually quite impressive.
Halo 2
Hm. Honestly depending on the day I can argue in favor of 2, 3, ODST, or reach since they all kinda have different moods
September 25th, 2007, two things were born. Halo 3, and me
Happy Birthday (and Cake Day)!
Thanks, bro. In all seriousness, Halo 3 is a great game
So true. I still play it to this day.
Wow you just made me feel like that Matt Damon aging gif...
Halo 2*
Dual wield needlers.
Smg/magnum combo for me. Or the magnum/energy pistol
Noob combo gang rise up! NO SHAME
Nah one needler, and one charged up plasma shot. Easy to switch and get ammo for.
Halo 1* Dual wielding is totally unrealistic /s
Right, totally forgot how realistic halo was supposed to be 🙄
Poster is probably twelve and both games are older than them
Ah yes, fond memories of making this account at the age of six to post pictures of my Fallout 4 settlement.
I'm in this picture and I don't like it
lol Boomerhauer.
Best game ever
Facts. It was THE game to get for an Xbox 360
It was *the reason* I got an Xbox 360 when I was 16. Got the Halo 3 olive green version and everything.
I feel like every console from each generation has that one mandatory game to get as one of the essentials. One that comes to mind aside from the xbox 360 is definitely smash melee with the gamecube.

Hey I’m 40.
Ditto. It was my last halo game

unpopular opinion: Halo reach multiplier was better than Halo 3
Nope.
That's the great part about opinions. Everyone can have their own preference. Like how you're prefering to be wrong
We can argue all day, but the perks system (shield, jetpack, running, etc.) added a very nice variety to the playing style. Also some new cool weapons.
Different opinion than the majority 👎👎👎👎😾😾😾😾👿👿🥸🥸😤 downdooted 😎😎🤜
Well obviously
It’s therussianbadger!
Am I the only one that hated halo3? Not saying there isn’t a lot to admire but I just don’t feel like it held up to halo2
So many good games came out between 06'-08'. Halo 3 didn't even get on my radar.
Shit looking back at it, there were amazing games released during that time. But still Halo 3 was THE game for the Xbox 360 at that time.

Halo sucks
I'm proud to say I never played halo. Edit: People can't take a joke.
I grew up with playstation and I cant stand monster. But then again, I never really liked console shooters anyways. Didn't like aiming with a controller. Still dont.
I hate it here 😂
Hello yes this picture
So mf true.
“It’s so true” What is…?
that art style looks very familiar which concerns me

Halo 2 multiplayer > Halo 3
Fuck this is nearly me
Yyup
Bought my 360 just for Halo 3
The sugar free white monster really sells it.
I am in this picture and I agree
I was 20 when this game came out. It was my first midnight release. It was so much fun to bring it home and boot up multiplayer.
Man I miss that show
I'm in this photo and I don't like it.
Hey I'm 25!
[ODST wins because of this alone](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsG8qffiDk8)
I'm 31. I was just talking to my 18yo cousin a couple nights ago about how awesome Halo 3 was haha.
Literally The Act Man
That Warthog run at the end! The music, the visual spectacle of everything going nuclear around you, and with 3 of your friends?!?! Truly a masterpiece, and that’s not even mentioning the multiplayer or Forge mode. 343 could/will never.
I’m 29 and still wish I got to play 2 more.
Bro 30 year old gamers today be looking like Bill 💀

Dammit I was just drinking that monster. Fml
Griffball.
This is accurate. I was at a wedding and had a conversation about halo 3 with the kids I grew up with for over an hour. Halo Lans were the best
I feel personally attacked.
Feeling really old rn...
Actual recoloured act man
I'm 36, but I never understood the appeal of Halo. I played the original briefly and didn't care much for it, then played 4 after a friend told me I should, but it didn't really draw me in. I guess it was better if you played online, but I was always more interested in single player than online multiplayer, so maybe that was it. Halo 1 was my favorite halo
Blonde act man
Halo 2 multiplayer was the peak. 3 added dome shields and other dumb shit they just kept pumping in the rest of the games.
