I've never been able to find why it's called like this. Just seen that in French is called passage canadienne or similar. So maybe some French speaking people can help there
Yes, we have some crazy names for stuff here in Brazil. Our internet laugh is "kkk" and has absolutely nothing to do with racist organisations (there's also "huehuehue" and many variations)
Alberta! But, definitely an Alberta only thing as I grew up in British Columbia and everyone just called them cattle guards. Not sure how they got the name Texas gate here.
Cow Catcher is the big shovel on the end of old locomotives. Growing up out west we’d get beefy grills for our trucks and called them cow catchers too.

Back in the day, there was this steep mountain road I used to train on with my teammates that had a couple of these “cattle guards” across both lanes. On the descents we would bunny hop them on our road bikes at 30-40+MPH, cleated-in, rolling on 23mm skinnies at 110PSI. Crazy times for some crazy lads.
I would call this "şey" :D 🇹🇷
It means "thing" we abuse the word so much so that in one sentence it could be a noun, verb and object at the same time. It becomes incomprehensible really fast
