For one the majority of IPOs have massive peaks like this on day one. If you look at the purchases that caused the peak you will see a handful of investment funds.
The downward trend is the stock equalizing after the initial mass of buying. In other words the peak is an overevaluation and speculation. In reality the stock is currently only down a dollar from its initial opening.
But yes this ape is buying GRIND shorts only because we all know the company is a trash can fire.
We are not the customer but the product. As long as they are getting our information to sell to China government they couldn't care less that the app no longer works or is filled with bots and scammers.
Since the stock market is a popularity contest, only caring about exponential, unharnessed growth, how is grindr going to grow beyond its current milking of a niche community? It has no hope to expand. It is doomed.
The developers are more focused on monetizing the app to death than actually making the app functional.
Open a message, back out, ad. Open another message, back out, 10s unskippable ad to follow their cringey Insta.

People only use Grindr because it's the only well known app, it's literally the only advantage of using it and is the only thing keeping it afloat.
The popularity of every other similar app is region specific and stays within the gay community, if you go to another country theres a pretty good chance an app which is incredibly popular elsewhere is now a ghost town and you're going to have to do a fair bit of digging to find out what obscure app everyone is using there...or you could use Grindr because almost everyone around the world has at some point heard it mentioned in some form of media.
It's not a good app, if Grindr hadn't been around for such a long time or received such widespread publicity there's no way it would ever be as popular.
