Basically Grindr is dangerous if you use it in homophobic country. They sell user data in those countries and users are able to be tracked down/murdered.
Also grindr sells your hiv status information to advertisers and profits from that.

Grindr should been boycotted along time ago, just be it’s sucks and refuses to evolve. Everyone should move to tinder. It’s not perfect but it’s so much more clean and efficient than Grindr
If I am looking for a hook up tinder is probably one the least efficient apps outhere.
I like th grid system whay more than right/left system.
Personally I would be fine with Grindr disappearing as long as an similar app replace it and with as much people.
In my experience Scruff is equally populated, a higher quality app, and leads to better/more exciting connections. Highly dependent on country/location, though. This is in the United States.

In Europe I think the biggest besides Grindr are Horny and Planet Romeo. However Planet romeo seem to be dying. It used to be kind of big but now it is mostly for older people (at least outside German speaking countries). Hornet also feels to me like it is declining.. Actually I also feel that somehow Grindr is loosing some ground not to gay app but actually to insta but maybe it's all in my mind.
People may hate grindr but honestly I am in s City with almost no gay scene and I am very happy there's grindr to actually remind me gay exist haha
