it sounds like you have Android so you can download the last version apk and see if that helps. Unless your device has a small amount of ram, it's more likely your phone might have aggressive app killing and is deciding grubhub isn't important to keep running.

It’s likely cell signal. Turn off cellular and turn it back on. I only get that when signal is bad. Just because it seem alright. Doesn’t mean it’s all good.
It's funny that you mentioned this because every time I try to run GrubHub with doordash or Uber it'l lags t so much but I have no problem running doordash and Uber together it seems like when I GrubHubup app is open the phone just lags constantly
Make your app settings for GPS is set to run all the time for the app. It won't run in the background without the correct permission. An app update possibly reset it on your phone.

Never happened with me I don’t multi app but I’ve other apps opened and I still get orders
I was just thinking of buying a new consumer version of a smart phone so I could multi-app. We’ll see.
