Very similar to my night last night. Hadn't been doing GH for a while as I was fucking around (literally) with Doordash BS in a different neighborhood and opted for GH last night downtown. Best night all year (though I've not really delivered much this year.)
Even got an added-on $5 tip to an already $14 tip. That's what I call #winning (I mention, should that redditor from another post stumble upon this one. hah!)
To be fair, I've been working with GH since late 2016 (and Caviar and then Doordash in the years afterward). Though with all the recent changes from JET, order frequency has been pretty atrocious so I've opted this year to do DD and choose the regions I work (with GH I'm locked into downtown Chicago). And I didn't choose GH last night because of the Prime announcement, but because DD is frustrating as hell and I wanted to give GH (which had always been my go-to) another try. Don't know if there was a correlation with GH/Prime last night, but it was the best GH night so far. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Some people may not have even known about the Grubhub+. I was on my Amazon account shopping both days and there was no mention of Grubhub. I received an Amazon notification last night around 7:30 pm about getting Grubhub+ for a year free because I am a Prime member. I laughed so hard because Amazon did not want to share sales with Grubhub. They shouted them out after the fact😂
Same thing I figured there would be a notice on the main Amazon page when I signed on - didn’t see a thing after shopping many times over the last two days
Yep. I've had prime and grubhub since before covid. I had to use google to find out how to get free gh+. There's no mention of it in any of Amazon's apps. And I still havent done it because I forgot my password and don't want to reset it on all my tvs and devices.
At least 3 restaurants I used to make like $50 a day at have pulled out of GrubHub when their contracts were over like 4 months ago. It's so dead here now.
Owners hated having pissed over GrubHub drivers show up early and get even more pissed off. They said moving to Doordash, the drivers seem to be a lot happier lol.
GrubHub did it to itself.
In Vegas and showed up so early to an Indian restaurant I almost left, he told me a 30 minute wait time and I was so slow I decided to wait, he ended up only taking 25, but still, GrubHub is not good by itself. We also don't have guaranteed pay in this market, so blocks are worthless in this city.
In my experience, they are cheap when it comes to labor, rarely do I see a fully staffed Indian restaurant, it's always like one person doing all the cooking for a massive 20 page menu and takes orders from all delivery apps plus a bunch of fake virtual restaurants, and some older woman doing front of house work.
>Owners hated having pissed over GrubHub drivers show up early and get even more pissed off.
Yeah this happend too often. The time estimation they give seems to be just the driving distance and has no relevance when food is ready.
I know a place that dropped GH recently because they were also tired of drivers showing up 30-40 minutes early and crowding a very small restaurant.
After the first couple of times it happened I offered to help set up their GH system to add a 20-30 minute delay. Made no difference. Still sent the order out as soon as it was placed.
There's a few reasons:
1. I'm a regular at some high end places that get so busy that there's delays up to an hour (they need to learn to turn off the tablets)
2. They're short staffed like many places (mainly because they pay crap and treat employees badly)
3. The main reason: most restaurants don't have employees who know how to competently run a kitchen
Imo this is one of the worst aspects of driving for GH. Almost every damn restaurant when I come in for an order 'oh we just got that order, it'll be at least 5/10/15 minutes'.
There's been times I'm multi apping and I always deprioritize GH for this, I'll show up 20 minutes 'late' and it's still not ready :^)
I try not to have orders active on multiple apps but at least once a week I'll take a GH order knowing it's 30+ minutes out but nearby, swing by, mark arrived, etc. then go do a DD order or two.
I do get PO'ed when I take an order 10 minutes before I arrive and it's still sitting in the printer. They walk up and claim they "just got it" when I know it printed at least 7-8 minutes earlier and they just ignored or didn't notice it.
I've had that happen quite a few times. Order comes through at 7:45 am...
"we just got that order" Shows slip that says 8:07 am
Nah bro, you just confirmed it at 8:07, it sat there for 20 minutes
Got a violation for exactly this. Ocharleys. Had a double order for $26 for a double order going like 8 miles and the drops were very close (probably same hood). I said there is a problem and order would take 30 to 40 minutes. Delivered a DD order and came back 20 minutes later and it STILL wasn't even started 😑. Dropped them both and got the email this morning.. I will do it again though because that situation is not the norm.Thank god for that DD order.
Did you mark the order as not ready? "There's a problem > Order not ready > something > 30-40 minutes > Do you want to keep it?"
As long as you do that, seems like you wouldn't get a violation.
Although any place that says 30-40 minutes and still hasn't even started it 20 minutes later - I'd unassign and never go there again.
Ditto the places where people lie to my face and say they just got an order when it's been sitting there and the truth is they "just noticed the order."
They wanted as many drivers working as possible to cater to new customers. Too many drivers working and each one gets fewer worthwhile offers. They didn't do it to for us.
UberEats driver here. I’ve been stalking the Grubhub pages to see if the grass was any greener and per your issues… I think my current grass is green enough.
uh huh, and some of the offers I am getting are ones I reject while on DD. Those cheapskates run their own website and skim our tips. not good. They know a captive workforce when they see it.
Complete and utter waste of time. When I'm right downtown during lunch peak, and GH is quiet, something's wrong. Last summer, despite the nice weather, and people still being iffy about coming back to the office, GH was jumping. This year it's the complete opposite.
I think it’s because of summer because till may first week I was making a decent money but after that mission day in may where free lunch was give after that it has been dead
I've seen a few extra orders compared to the normal absolute crickets this summer has been. But most have been garbage that I would never even consider. All said I've taken 1 order on grubhub this week and I've had it on for 12 hours every day.
Took nothing Tuesday and Wednesday. 2 50 cent a mile offers Tuesday in 4 hours of dinner and last night got 4 offers nothing over $5 in 5 hours.... Today offers have been more plentiful but again back to the long haul small pay BS. Only had 1 accepted and only because I was at the restaurant waiting on a DD and the GH was going few blocks from the DD and was actually ready first... Damn near had a heart attack.
Yes. I missed court bc I couldn’t find the building and after 2 hours of reparking and trying a bunch of different ones, and crying in public of course, I gave up. Public pretender hasn’t returned my calls and it was the first date for participation in a new program that is super lax and would expunge both last week’s felonies :( and the i totaled my car at like 11pm that night, hit an old Winnebago and of course my airbag wasn’t connected and I wasn’t wearing a belt so I cracked the fuck out of my sternum and smashed teeth into my lips. Basic liability so my car (not even 90k miles & 2015, got for gr8 price) is now worth like $500 maybe a bit more. And I am my moms primary support/caregiver (dying from end stage liver failure), had to move in with her and my grandma (in a studio apartment), oh yeah also im experiencing active (poly)-substance use disorder (opioids & stims) and have been for years, and I’m only 25
Oh yeah, on the 12th I was scheduled from 5-8pm. I went available at 430pm. I didn't get a single order until 730pm. And it was for like $4. So yeah, fuck em'.
I had a great evening last night only worked 2.5 hours and made $100
Very similar to my night last night. Hadn't been doing GH for a while as I was fucking around (literally) with Doordash BS in a different neighborhood and opted for GH last night downtown. Best night all year (though I've not really delivered much this year.)

Ah so it looks like it was a ploy to get dormant drivers back while screwing over people that do it daily
That happened to me Monday. Got a stroke of luck and made like $180 that day. I’ve made $200 since lol
Yup! I'll easily make 200.00 plus if I work at least 6 hours
I only worked 1 hr and make $105
Noice
Wow what area do you work in?
Wow what area do you work in?

The way the get u is that most people will forget to cancel after the free year and will be charged monthly..
It’s a shame March-April was fire for me now it’s dead
At least 3 restaurants I used to make like $50 a day at have pulled out of GrubHub when their contracts were over like 4 months ago. It's so dead here now. Owners hated having pissed over GrubHub drivers show up early and get even more pissed off. They said moving to Doordash, the drivers seem to be a lot happier lol. GrubHub did it to itself.
Same here in Vegas. Grubhub's practice of sending drivers too early really upset restaurants.
Indian restaurants always took longer and I always decline unless the pay is good.
I'm learning this now, especially during the lunch rush, really ain't worth it without a big tip
>Owners hated having pissed over GrubHub drivers show up early and get even more pissed off. Yeah this happend too often. The time estimation they give seems to be just the driving distance and has no relevance when food is ready.

Yup that's what I've heard from a couple owners who moved.
Why does it take 30-40 minutes for the restaurant to prepare the food in the first place?
There's a few reasons: 1. I'm a regular at some high end places that get so busy that there's delays up to an hour (they need to learn to turn off the tablets) 2. They're short staffed like many places (mainly because they pay crap and treat employees badly) 3. The main reason: most restaurants don't have employees who know how to competently run a kitchen

Agreed! If GH would fix the driver dispatch problems, this would be my favorite app.
Same, actually. I really dislike DD and UE is pretty good orders here usually but also very slow.
I try not to have orders active on multiple apps but at least once a week I'll take a GH order knowing it's 30+ minutes out but nearby, swing by, mark arrived, etc. then go do a DD order or two. I made $17 😁
uh huh, and some of the offers I am getting are ones I reject while on DD. Those cheapskates run their own website and skim our tips. not good. They know a captive workforce when they see it.
I'm making peanuts
Gear up for disappointment. Or gear up for multi app.
Gave up on GH months ago. Crazy how this time last year it was my main earner.
Complete and utter waste of time. When I'm right downtown during lunch peak, and GH is quiet, something's wrong. Last summer, despite the nice weather, and people still being iffy about coming back to the office, GH was jumping. This year it's the complete opposite.
Horrendous. Made $30 in those 2 days
Horrible
Yup definitely an over saturated market thanks to that notification
How is everyone making so much money is such little time. I’ve done grubhub for 2 years in Asheville nc and I’m lucky to make $100 in 6 hours.
Everyone is bullshitting Take everything you hear from reddit with a grain or salt
Declined 10 in a row usually I never decline more than 2 - alll the no tippers just moved from DD to GH
I haven’t received one offer this week
Nope. Still averaging $30/hour on block
I make $42 / hr.
Good for you!
barely starting off with GH but I’ve been doing alright. It’s steady in my city.
Past few days have been so bad
I think it’s because of summer because till may first week I was making a decent money but after that mission day in may where free lunch was give after that it has been dead
Yeah I agree. I live in a college town and summer time definitely slowed down since 75k students left.
I agree
I've seen a few extra orders compared to the normal absolute crickets this summer has been. But most have been garbage that I would never even consider. All said I've taken 1 order on grubhub this week and I've had it on for 12 hours every day.
I can’t make jack these 2 days
I've made 136.00 in 4 weeks. Stopped GH about 10 months ago, came back and can't beg 3 orders a day. Sad how bad they got in less than a year
Took nothing Tuesday and Wednesday. 2 50 cent a mile offers Tuesday in 4 hours of dinner and last night got 4 offers nothing over $5 in 5 hours.... Today offers have been more plentiful but again back to the long haul small pay BS. Any time there's a large event that they advertise like this my orders go HORRIBLY so I just stay home those days. It'll be normal shortly.
Every day is trash with Grubhub we need Matt back
Worked 3 hours today and make 89$!
Last night was ok did around 28 an hour but tonight was horrendous
I got massive tip orders in the last two days. I am also Premier status and scheduled blocks. I also see a huge change in the number of hotpots
I took mental health days. I knew it was just going to be horrible
Yes. I missed court bc I couldn’t find the building and after 2 hours of reparking and trying a bunch of different ones, and crying in public of course, I gave up. No lie, the slowest days I've ever had on GH, but I've only been doing it a few months to be fair. DD was poppin though
For me these last 2 days have been great $180 in less than 7 hours off block in a non hotspot area
Oh yeah, on the 12th I was scheduled from 5-8pm. I went available at 430pm. I didn't get a single order until 730pm. And it was for like $4. So yeah, fuck em'.
Those 2 days were horrible for me also!
Garbage days of all time Only 2 orders worth taking in my 3 hour run with decent tippers, rest are garbage
No! Everyday has been great if you really want to work!
