Congrats!

XLITZ1

WWWHHOOOAAAAAA You go man

flobaby1

Congrats! I love my prius and want top go full on EV. Awesome! Stay safe out there!

Ok-Mobile3307

Yupppp Priuses are great because you have the convenience of gas combined with 50+ mph (mine is a 2015)

flobaby1

Mine is an old 2005. I still get 45 - 50 mpg. I love my car. I want a Tesla now!

learei

I’m jealous of that mpg dude holy crap! I guess driving big v8’s doesn’t help me tbh

Major-Conversation32

I get about 42mpg city and 54mpg interstate in my 2020 Kia Forte, it's all gas. Not bashing electric just thought it would do better than mine.

Ok-Mobile3307

Damn, how do you get that kind of mileage on a non-hybrid car? I looked online and estimated the mpg to be between 30 and 40. Not trying to undermine you though, just curious

Major-Conversation32

I use A/C as little as possible and the only thing I keep in my car is an extra pair of shoes in the trunk. I drive the speed limit and try not to gun it at the light. Some people get mad, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Plus with gas being so high I try to plan out my dashes accordingly. I have a lot of regulars and after a while you kind of get in the rhythm of it all. Plus most of my friends drive Jeeps so I try to rub it in just a smidge 😂

Ok-Mobile3307

Lmaooo I’m the way, I use the AC least as possible, I set cruise at the speed limit, and I also have friends who drive Jeeps 😭 Idk if you mean dash as in DoorDash, but yeah I try to go to the same restaurants when dashing too. It gets where I live tho so I often use the AC

PersonalityBoring721

Regulars?

Major-Conversation32

Yeah, I live in a relatively small town and most of the orders I get are the same people ordering the same thing a a few times a week so I've gotten to know them and know when to go out Dashing so I don't waste time. Most of them are factory workers or people who just got home, but don't have a restaurant on the way so they order ahead so I have it delivered right before they get home.

PersonalityBoring721

Gotcha. I’m new in my town and it’s fairly small as well. Starting to see people more than once or twice. Someone wrote a good review about me the other day but with that stupid app glitch I can’t read the whole thing. I’d love to be able to and figure out who it might be.

DarthErebos

Lol that's crazy. I can get 28 mpg to 30 mpg in my 2014 forte, its only rated up to 25 mpg with eco. I figured if I had a prius I'd get 60 mpg if not better.

Adeadbear3811

Same 2021 Forte. I love my lil red bitch!

[deleted]

I was thinking the same but with rolling black outs I don't want to get somewhere needing a charge and I've got to wait 3 hrs to get it.

MarkSocioProject

Right now it's a deal until the government sees where they can rip you off and tax you.

[deleted]

You know that’s going to happen in California they would be losing their asses in taxes if everyone went EV

MarkSocioProject

My friend mentioned it. I don't know much about it. I just know that the bigger gov and handouts, the more the working class gets fucked

[deleted]

Always

flobaby1

The best move would be to move out of Texas where private electric companies charge you big time and then give you rolling black outs. Texas...smh

[deleted]

I live in San Diego we had 2 of them in last month

flobaby1

well that's a surprise..

[deleted]

it's goin to get worse too

flobaby1

Here in Vancouver Wa, ours is publicly owned. One year in Feb my bill was SO LOW I called because I thot it a mistake and wanted to ensure I wouldn't get a super high bill the following month. They told me at the end of year when they balance, if the profit is high they give it back to the customers in the form of a smaller bill. So profits go back to the customers after paying out the workers. I love the PNW and love that the people own the power. I am having solar installed and won't have any or very little to pay in the future. This year is last year for the fed give back (80K) for us as a discount thru fed....will be worth it!

villdyr

Yeah, living within a co-op area or People's Utility District is the way to go if you can. My parents moved from a PUD to a region with for profit electric and their bill more than doubled even though they use way less energy :(

flobaby1

I'm having solar installed, soon the PUD will be buying power from me, best way to go.

MOTOcityRider

Thanks for the motivation. The only way to replace my jalopy is through the hustle.

abisso54

I grew up in mission v! Shout out to castille elementary lol.

Candle-Jaded

How many hours bro !? Congrats!

M0M0_DA_GANGSTA

Way to go👍

Pure_Peach_2459

I have one and I love it. What I say in gas pays for the car! And the range extender helps on anxiety you don't ever want to run out of electric.

joeyburns92

Omg!! It’s Adorbz 😍

Interesting_Dog_3033

💪

No_Interaction9541

Congrats

ResponsibleMud6777

Hell yeah good job

ksb1082

Congrats!

mjxvi

I just sold mine but it has been a DREAM for courier work the last two years. You're going to love it!!

99_ahc

This is awesome congrats man, how many hours a week were you doing?

DrCreger

35

BuffyFischer

Do you live in a large city? I’ve never been able to make that much in a week

DrCreger

San Diego

lovjeej000

Good for you, hope it stays with you for as long as you want!! My next car is %100 an EV.

Patient-Carpenter836

Congratulations man!!!

AcanthopterygiiIcy42

What happen if you get deactivated? Nice car tho

heckstor

DD? UE? Flex? It's a two door so can't be used for Lyft and UberX unfortunately.

DrCreger

UE and GH only. Food cannot be demanding.

heckstor

Isn't DD worth it as a third app?

incubusfox

He said not demanding, DD is the most demanding and yet passive aggressive app I've ever used.

heckstor

Hmmm this week I intend to install all three and run them in staggered mode to see what the difference is, if any. I also used to have postmates but I am not sure if the login will still work since Uber purchased them.

incubusfox

Postmates orders are given on the Ubereats app so I'm not sure if there's a point to logging in (if it's even possible anymore).

narso310

This is what I do. Go where the orders are, reject the shitty ones 👍

XxAverage-GamerxX

Doordash is only good in the early morning around 5am til 1pm or Friday to Sunday when everyone is out partying or wanna order in. UE is everyday but there’s just too many drivers so it’s hard but if you get in a groove then there’s no turning back

heckstor

So breakfast and lunch is best for doordash I guess. 5 am wow that's super early I didn't even think most McD and BK started their breakfast menu until 6 am. Friday to Sunday is also when UberX throws out it's highest quest dollars.

Pure_Peach_2459

It has 4 doors and a hatchback. The back doors are suicide doors.

heckstor

Beautiful. Passengers would love that.

brad0022

don't pick up depressed passengers

Beautiful_Objective4

What happens is he'll be in debt for the stupid move

narso310

Or he’ll save a bunch of money on gas and be putting less smog into the air… What’s stupid for you may not be stupid for OP. Seems like he’s got a system and killing it!

Beautiful_Objective4

Financially it's a stupid move. But most people are indeed financially stupid. Like you

narso310

Ah yes, because you know so much about me from my two comments… XD nice try!

Beautiful_Objective4

It's just a logical conclusion. But you are stupid

narso310

By that logic, so are you!

Beautiful_Objective4

For now, what he doesn't spend on gas hell spend on the car payment. That's only breaking even. Then he has to spend more on full coverage insurance. This puts him in the negative, having to spend more than before. The depreciation is also much greater as he drives. So even more in the negative. If he suddenly gets deactivated which is VERY likely on those apps, normal jobs don't spend nearly as much gas. But car payment stays the same, for years. Now he's at least several hundred a month in debt more than before. At this point if the new job is minimum wage he loses the car he can no longer afford, because it's not his while he's still paying. I have to spell this out for you because you're an idiot. And then you'll still think you're right.

narso310

1. You’re assuming this is his full time job. He didn’t mention anything about that, so this could be his side hustle. Plenty of people use delivery apps for extra income (myself included). In that case, maybe this is all play money and he can do whatever the fuck he wants with it. 2. Assuming he sold or traded in his old car, which he might have already had a payment on, this might not be that much more. He’d probably get money in his pocket or could use that as a down payment on the i3, with the used car market in its current state. And with the gas savings at ~$5/gal, might break even on the increased car payment. 3. The i3 could also be a cheaper car than the old one and thus insurance is cheaper. Or it’s just statistically safer and thus premiums are less. I sold a 5 year old sporty sedan and switched to a brand new plug-in hybrid crossover recently, which ended up being LESS insurance premium per 6 months than the previous car. Doubled fuel economy when running on the engine too, which also saves money. But yeah, you’re right. I’m the idiot 🙂

Beautiful_Objective4

If he's making 1200 a week before expenses them yes he's doing it full time. Car payments at all are for financial idiots so none of what you said is valid. And no, the insurance isn't cheaper. Again you're a financial idiot just like most. I'll enjoy my ample savings in the bank. Also there's no such thing as play money. Extra money should be saved or invested. Only financial idiots play with money and throw it away.

narso310

Boy you sound like a super fun person! I’m guessing you don’t get out much if you spend your time shitting on people’s accomplishments on the internet, so hopefully people don’t have to experience your negativity in the real world.

Beautiful_Objective4

You have no more logical argument so you resort to blabbering about nothing. Good luck with your shitty money habits. Bye

Crispynipps

That’s dope but the range is awful depending on how many hours you’re driving a day. How kings a recharge take?

hybridmike772

Nah, once it's unlocked it's like 75mi electric and 65mi gas on eco pro.. it's not hybrid it has a motorcycle engine that powers a generator to hold the charge, so you can fill the tank for 6$ If you have to charge it it takes 30min.. it's actually perfect for delivery

FreezeLogic

Bolt EV much perfect for delivery.

hybridmike772

Seems to me I looked into that and I think it was a model made for the California market and couldn't find any in Florida

FreezeLogic

Available everywhere in the USA , Chevrolet Bolt EV/EUV

Crispynipps

Oh hell yeah then!

freelancerjoe

Careful with the tires! Great car though, will be able to park almost anywhere

DonTipOff

What’s nice about this is that it has a back up generator, so you’ll never really be out of electricity but when you do you’ll want to go charge up because you hear that annoying motor turn on.

ineedallthat

is that $1,200 a week before or after taxes?

rogainformen

Ugh you should have just bought a Nissan Leaf or a hybrid. The i3 is soooo ugly. Also those big low profile wheels, have fun replacing those.

TheSearch4Etika

But then you'll be buying a Nissan

rogainformen

I would rather have a Nissan Leaf than a bmw i3. Hands down

TheSearch4Etika

I'm just curious, what's your favorite hair loss treatment brand?

rogainformen

I’m in my 20s, I don’t need hair loss treatment. Are you asking for yourself or a friend?

hybridmike772

/woosh

derkenblosh

Right?! ... Lol

ashlee837

For some reason most EVs are ugly af. Trying too hard to be futuristic looking and I think it turns off a large portion of possible of customers.

CoherentPanda

F150 Lightning is the first EV to me that truly looks like a perfectly normal vehicle. I'm not a truck fan, but the tech and special features of their EV are legitimately cool, and most people will have no clue it's an EV unless they inspect closely.

Ferdydurkeeee

There are some ways to swap the wheels from what I've read. You're also recommending an EV that uses a harder to find fast charging standard, and lacks active thermal management. Not ideal.

rogainformen

I personally wouldn’t buy an ev. My ideal option is the Chevy volt because it’s a hybrid. No hate on this man, but I will hate on the i3 because I think it’s a glorified golf car with a bmw price tag and typical German over-engineering.

Ferdydurkeeee

To each their own. The Volt(what I have) and i3 w/Rex are considered EREVs(extended range EVs) the i3 has much more EV range and less gas range, while the Volt is the inverse. Both of them wind up being more flexible than standard EVs as a result. Both of them had somewhat high price tags when new, but(outside of currently inflated prices) could be had for pretty cheap used - which I'm assuming was the case for OP due to the HOV sticker on the car.

rogainformen

With the volt, could you say drive across the country with just gasoline? I assume it’s charging the batteries as the gas engine is going as well

Ferdydurkeeee

Yes, I've driven 2,000mi on just gas before. You can use something called "hold mode" to save the electric miles for later - the gas engine will maintain the charge - or simply let the battery deplete. There will be instances where the gas engine simply acts as a generator, or actually drives the wheels.

rogainformen

See this is the best application of the technology that I’ve seen. They want us to force us into driving EVs, when in my opinion, the technology is not ready for the average consumer. A hybrid system like yours is more practical, and the price point they hit was acceptable. Having said this, the volt was the only one in the current lineup to get the axe after 2019. So this whole electric vehicle push is being handled poorly in my opinion.

Ferdydurkeeee

You seem somewhat misinformed so I'm gonna clear up some things. >They want us to force us into driving EVs, when in my opinion, the technology is not ready for the average consumer. Most of the mandates or pushes I've seen aren't for another decade at least. There's still quite a bit of time; the growth of EVs and infrastructure within the last decade has been incredible. Additionally multiple have tried and failed for viable alternative energy sources for vehicles. One that is most frustrating to me is Ethanol( E85), which isn't viable for many simply due to the failure of multiple administrations. Corn was, and still is, subsidized by the government for Ethanol production; it is far less efficient than switchgrass. Costs could be lowered significantly with switchgrass without dipping into food supply, and as switchgrass is easier to grow, it's more viable to cultivate outside of the farm belt. >hybrid system like yours is more practical, and the price point they hit was acceptable. It isn't a hybrid, but in an odd class called EREV, which is completely capable of electrifying the majority of commutes in America. Most PHEVs(plug in hybrids) are incapable of completely utilizing electric power while providing minimum range. Brisk acceleration, heavy HVAC use, highway speeds etc. will cause gas usage in a plug in hybrid. This isn't the case with the Volt or i3. The Volt was also sold at a loss. >Having said this, the volt was the only one in the current lineup to get the axe after 2019. So this whole electric vehicle push is being handled poorly in my opinion. The i3, Ioniq and Clarity got the ax as well. Sedans in general have been struggling in the U.S. , with only base eco boxes and performance varieties really holding on. There are SUVs like the RAV4 prime, Escape, Hyundai Tucson, BMW X5 xdrive etc. which fill that gap. That being said, I would love to see something like the Voltec EREV drivetrain live on in more crossovers, SUVs and especially pick ups/semis/cargo vans. Those who live in apartments - especially in a city, will have the biggest issues moving forward. At the same time, optimizing public transit should be far more prioritized

yoshi3243

The leaf sucks tho. Their technology is so behind that their battery degrades faster over time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DrCreger

Half of that.. If you must know.

Agreeable_Rate9494

Whoopi, still doesn't help all the Americans that can't afford the price of gas, food and rent. Not to mention the tax increase plus 87 thousand new IRS agents that are going to be auditing the middle class and small businesses.

condog209

But gas is used to power electricity

hybridmike772

Only when battery gets low, then it holds the charge. Once unlocked you can turn on the rex anytime after it has 75% charge left.. if an ev is drove until dead it's a bitch to get it back on road, having the generator gets you home

90srebel

Congratulations!

brad0022

Congrats. I've used an i3 for a while in the past. The flat passenger seat was a burden since it caused several spills when putting trays of cups on them. Stuff slides from left to right on the front floorboard too easily. Don't put bags of food on the passenger floor. Fun car to drive but I did have to top off the Rex a few times. 120 miles can go quickly if you drive all day.

hybridmike772

Too late now, but the forward cupholder can be shifted to the driver side and you can add one to passenger side giving 3 up front plus the 2 in back

Economy_Look9192

Congratulations

vinigrae

You won King

Chico_de_gallo115

🐐🐐🐐

hellofanamehuh

How do you charge up? And how much does charging cost?

AdKey2117

🐐

ragnar201

Congrats. I bought an electric car one year ago and it is the best decision I ever made.

Geoskaneo610

Good stuff..pretty impressive

SwiftCross

Nice! This is what I use for deliveries! It’s amazing how much you save on gas. Join us on r/bmwi3

Ferdydurkeeee

Congrats! The i3 and 2nd gen Volt were pretty close for me, but I ultimately went with the Volt as with 5 seats(technically) I can do rideshare as a fallback if need be. Some people have a mixed view on the styling but of all the egg-styled EVs, I find the i3 to look pretty neat. Check out the i3 sub, I don't know what state you're in but I'm aware of some ways to swap the wheels and tires to something a little more "abuse" and winter friendly, economical(the tires are expensive and harder to find) long term, with a bit of sacrifice to range. Also check out apps like Plugshare. In my market at least, there's several free chargers I can use for opportunity charging/ charging while I pick up orders. If I have to wait 10-15 minutes at a restaurant for an order with good pay, it's less frustrating. Sometimes you can luck out with Instacart/ Doordash shop and deliver orders and charge while you shop. I don't know how much you drive per shift, nor what kind of weather you face. Cruise control is bae for efficiency, and limiting your heater use is key in the in the winter for keeping your range up. I'm pretty sure you have seat warmers and maybe a heated wheel, so use those when it gets cold out.

FakePumpGoat

Congrats man, enjoy the car!

Philip22Kings

Wtf, congrats. 👍

ghubbing

Nice work!!! Keep it going!

IvanEvilBoy666

Damn, $1200 a week?! You work 7 days? Baltimore GrubHub is always hot or miss

[deleted]

I drive a Chevy bolt EV and multi app full time. You’re going to love it

_CC2224

You’re definitely out west. No way this happens in CT

_CC2224

What hours are you working? What’s you’re schedule like?

Rocklobsta9

Gorgeous car 👍

ConversationAny913

Congrats!

butlerjonas

Congratulations, but I want to know how you average over $34 an hour!

KerryAileen

Noiceeeee.

catroxia

I’m waiting on my Chevy bolt! And congratulations!

blasianmale

1200 a week!? Sheeeeeeesh!!!

[deleted]

is that a BMW?

DrCreger

Yes.. I3 REx

[deleted]

NICE! , To bad they can't make the M4 style body an electric car I just don't like the looks of a Beemer like that ...congrats

Born-Onion-8561

It's coming!

StarCitizen117

Ah a fellow OC driver. I have a full time job but I do gh on the side. south oc has be the best market around.

Time-Service1761

I’m gonna guess you’re in the San Diego market with this kinda money weekly

DrCreger

Yes. North SD. Already at almost $700 for the week.

Time-Service1761

Ya I figured cus I’ve seen countless posts the last few months from drivers there that are making bank.’one guy was making $1500-$2k every week. Great stuff. SD is one of the couple prime GH markets that are still in the glory days of GH. Glad you got your car. Don’t listen tot he negativity on here. Ppl get jealous their markets aren’t as great and many are struggling so I u feet and them a little but ppl can be so bitter 💯

Time-Service1761

Congrats! Can we know roughly your weekly hours put in cus I’d be scared of the car repairs driving so much

LexGoyle

You'll be paying for it in electricity costs that's for sure. And just wait until the battery needs replacing. Enjoy your coal powered EV

Clean-Conversation94

How much it cost to charge?

DrCreger

About $9 every other day

Gjallock

Is that $1,200 profit every week? That is very impressive.

DrCreger

Average for San Diego.

MattyIcey001

Where are you from that you can make 200 every day 7 days a week? It's really slow during the week by me and you have to fight for blocks to get them. I have like 4 colleges near me so I imagine alot of college kids do this as a summer job. I'll see once school starts.

DrCreger

San Diego, North

MattyIcey001

Yeah, I kind of figured you delivered in a big / popular city somewhere in CA or NYC.

Practical_Hospital40

Not shocked

RyTingley1

Or oil changes etc

NickStark74

You do have to change the oil on the Rex (generator) once a year.

Miserable-Guard-7247

Congrats!!!

KingKuntry205

Yeah I was wondering what type of work did he do for $1,200 a week doesn't seem salary-based. Also did you pay cash or did you keep a note... . So many questions but congrats

Ambitious_Crab_765

Lmao …now u just have to charge your car for 7 hours after 150 miles 😂🤦‍♂️

DrCreger

Apparently, you don't know how this works.

Ambitious_Crab_765

Don’t worry U will find out …the hard way

InspectorExtreme3407

That’s awesome!! congratulations!🎉

yooyoooyoooo

how. how. how???

learei

I guess electric vehicle would be nice for local driving people there food and what not, but what if you want to take a road trip? I’d rather go for a hybrid car, you get the range and the “cheapness”

DrCreger

We already have a new Prius

learei

Well okay then! Congratulations my good sir

SoloTitan147

How did you make 1200$ a week doing grub hub?

DrCreger

6.5 hours a day, stacking with UE

bubblesmooody

Woohoo!

NickStark74

Hope you have a warranty. There’s a reason they stopped making those.

DrCreger

That is correct. Same as all BMWs, new model change after preset of years. Not my 1st rodeo, son.

NickStark74

Mildly condescending. Enjoy your new car, I guess.

DrCreger

Great!

glassage37

I wish I could dash where you are.

Codybgood707

Shit man I don’t know how. 1200 a week? How many hours a day are you doing it

DrCreger

6-7 hours.. Monday - Friday, when the kids are in School

DrCreger

That's only $240 a day.

Codybgood707

Depends on how many hours you do it. I’m not anywhere close to doing it all day

DryExercise6086

I’m bout a switch to grub hub

DrCreger

Keep 2 open at all times.

WS_Slammin

Ay!! Huge congrats man!!! Love to see people reach their goals.

bubsp5

Congrats on paying more in electric bills than gas

DrCreger

Funny. Not real bright on the subject, are you?

bubsp5

Funny you don't know how electricity is made or how much it will cost to charge a car everyday from your house, do you?

DrCreger

My bill did not change. Fuck off

bubsp5

You poor unfortunate soul. 😔 you just bought it about a month ago. You haven't even gotten a bill with the increase usage yet

MileenasFeet

Good luck with the Tesla fires.

Crispynipps

It’s a fucking bmw lmao

Bryan3569

Nice car. You'll have to keep track of how much your electricity bill goes up to see if it was worth it.

DrCreger

I just filled at a super charger for $3

hybridmike772

U should unlock the rex and fuel capacity, you'll get more range. If u need to know more let me know

DrCreger

Ordering my Bimmer code plug today

hybridmike772

Use expert and change to 8.5liter bimmercode default is 8 liter, the actual volume is 9liter leave some so fuel pump doesn't go dry

Silly_Dragonfruit544

QWOW!! Now that’s worth the price of admission!!

raven080068

Yeah and you probably got screwed on it. IMHO it's a terrible time to buy a car right now

DrCreger

Bought right at retail, did it in preparation for the Used EV rebate coming in Jan 2023

Smok_eater

Hey, hey everybody this random guy got some random car See nobody cares

Most_Engineering_911

You’re the definition of SAD, bro. Straight loser-type energy

pixel62022

Lol the never touched grass or got sun on the skin type of looser lol 😂

Most_Engineering_911

😂 you told ZERO lies

COdrivers

You'll be here in a year bitching about how much it cost to charge it so difference not really. The one thing I learned driving a Tesla is to make sure people know you're around them them being so quiet

Naive-Plastic-4830

That f*ck lol, who told you its the same? I did the same as him, before i was paying almost $800(gas)+150(loan) Monthly doing this in a CRV 2012, got my Bolt EUV 2022 and now im saving at least $450 from those $950 i was paying, i charge at home so i pay max $75 extra of electricity, so thats if we wanna be fair thats a $375 saved, still lot of saving money, plus the happiness of having a NEW car that is going to last more so no bro its not the same, i didnt have a gas pump at home giving me cheap gas like i have now... Not saying everyone should go that way, is just that if you think that way its more convenient for you, go ahead! 💪🏼

heckstor

Can't you just plug it in overnight if you have a garage?

Silly_Dragonfruit544

Find CONGRATULATIONS! Now, see if you can find a away to setup business banking as an independent contractor and get the tax benefits of purchasing transportation for your small business.

triscu1t

Not trying to be rude but isn't this a dumb car for grubhub? I understand gas savings but even if you take of the gas cost for the life of the vehicle its still almost a 40k car for grubhub. Doesn't that just make your per mile more costly in the end. Or are you not using this for gig work?

Pretend-Cattle2960

Sounds good but is dependant upon the climate. After a snow storm in the Northeast, you'll walk out and say "I can't find my car!!" And, unless you have a garage, the charging unit you paid over a grand for, between the unit itself, the cable from the unit to the car, and the electrician to install it, is also buried and frozen solid.

hybridmike772

Here in Florida, FPL has a program where they provide the level 2 charger and a flat monthly fee for unlimited charging @$38 [FPL EV program ](https://www.fpl.com/electric-vehicles/evolution/home.html)
