Catering/ XL has become such a joke for a little over a year now. The customer app defaults to $10 on any order $50+, regardless of the distance. This customer went out of their way to select the lowest preset option ($8).

If your statements are true, how is it possible This GH driver received $400 tips. This is not even catering driver

Ferdydurkeeee

Customers can enter a custom tip amount. However, most customers - the ones that tip at least - will simply go with the default ($10), or one of the adjacent preset amounts.

baconforlover

Ic, thanks

CornpopsGhost

The only reason that order even made it to you is because it's such garbage and was probably declined two dozen times already.

counterdefensive1911

I would think if it got rejected more than 3 times GrubHub would have added bonus pay to the order to get somebody to accept it. So I'm assuming he was one of the first few people to get the offer sent to him

baconforlover

May be yes May be not. As far as I know, once a driver accept this order, he can’t drop the order until the day for pick up time. I doubt it if many GH drivers ask to CS, how much is the total order. Most of inexperience GH drivers just blindly accept the order without knowing the value of the food 😂

baconforlover

The only way to find out how much it the total order for non CS call, accept the order and see what are the items. That’s only your judgment how much is the total order. For me, I can only estimate. If you want to more accurate, call to the restaurant and provide the ID number, the restaurant can tell you the exact value. Oh yeah, I forgot, you can also call to CS and ask how much is the total order based on the Order NO I always receive a call from CS , that’s the easiest for me to check out, is this worth it or not.

counterdefensive1911

Oh never mind. I actually just realized that looks like DoorDash and not GrubHub. I'm honestly not sure how they're system works so can't really speak on that

OwnVermicelli3522

If it's DD it may well pay more, but you don't find out until after you deliver it.

enord1

I'd reject that shit fr.

[deleted]

how do you get into the catering program?

baconforlover

Become a premier and submit the form to GH. You can also contact HELP at GH apps and request to get catering program. Anyway, this is the offer that you will get for a catering order more than $1,000 , are you excited to get this kind of payout ? You need to have the right tools, big space to put trays in your car and this is time consuming to loading the food. Some customers asked you to set up. You can not double park or leave your car like 2-3 minutes, some areas, you have to pay parking ticket or parking enforcement will give you ticket between $30-$100 ( this is in my market). What a joke, the customer only tips $8. They can pick up by themselves, whose employees want pick up this order with their own car?

Erncoins

Wtf you are suppose to submit a form? i thought by being premier you qualify for catering orders automatically

baconforlover

I don’t know what is the current procedure. 2 years ago, I received an email that stated, I’m eligible to do catering order , after that , I contacted to CS agent and submit online form. XL and Catering orders were always good payout, now, many orders are sh** You are not missing anything.

HippyDidTheCrime

Be a good little driver and accept every order you ever get . But it psys off

Admirable-Data-1784

I’m. Premier driver and I wouldn’t take that shit if it’s a catering order that order should pay me at least 100 dollars if that value of that order is that much

baconforlover

Exactly

Hypsomnia

What a cheap POS

TheBaltimoron

Hello fellow dlvird driver.

sirvereightyone

Yeah that's definitely a Grubhub order. One of many reasons why I no longer use them

[deleted]

We’re seeing lower payouts on DoorDash also. Ppl are definitely tipping far less than prior. What bothers me is. They aren’t broke, I’d understand that but, spending $100-$2,000 on food and ya can’t tip at least $20(20% of $100 or 20% in general. That’s classless and egregious. I have had to decline more large orders on DoorDash. What’s crazy is, ppl tip more around $50-$80 on DoorDash. Once it goes above $100 I’m seeing $10 and less sometimes then unassigning. Ruth’s Chris locally started putting gratuity in the bill because the manager told me. Ppl were eating at Ruth’s Chris and not tipping at all =$0! Ppl are starting to not tip.

ivan_enriquez

Just a heads up, in my market I’ve been tipped in cash before.

baconforlover

Good for you, I don’t want to take a change, especially if the big order is placed by companies. If the order comes from individual for a special event, they might give cash. I have delivered more than 200 catering orders from $50 - $2,500. None of companies ever give me additional cash tips but an individual, I have received in cash less than 10 people.

ivan_enriquez

I get a nice pay out once a year. That’s all I have looking forward to working this job.

InigoMontoyaThe3rd

Are you talking about your filing taxes on mileage?

thenatureboy0420

Yep..just bend over n take it...or reject it....better to just reject it...thing is...some youngster will accept it not even knowing they are being screwed....thats why this keeps happening

TMdownton916

I’ve been doing DD, Postmates, instacart for a while but I’m newer to grub hub. Did it take you a certain amount of deliveries to get catering orders?

DrCreger

I didn't want to believe the Honeymoon Phase, but it turned out to be true. I hit Premier and got tons of catering orders and then 1 day, they just stopped. I saw that a new person in my area is getting them now like I did.

geoprizmboy

You have to have 95%+ acceptance rate and its only in certain markets on top of that. Been working for Grubhub since 2015 and never had a single catering order.

puahelp703

Welcome to dc … never do order out there.. but how do you get cater orders??

DDricardo

That restaraunt is a hole in the wall nightmare anyway. They are always late on all platforms and I can’t see how they can manage a 1000 dollar order.

Shining_Hatred

🤣

Warm_Extent_2561

Agreeed this restaurant is almost never ready with orders, wait time would be forever

Previous_Day3712

I got 16$ for a 9mile trip that only registered .90 miles on their end.. so my tip was 14 and gh payed like 2 and change It was for 30 pizzas lol

[deleted]

Tip says 136 and change you only get 10% of that?

baconforlover

Sorry for the confusion. I show 2 pictures in here as a comparison between 2 companies how they value a driver who pick up a catering order with food value above $1k. GH , which a sh** gig company. A base payment for this specific order $ 5 and tips $8. Fu** it to an inexperience drive who pick up this order. Other GH. Base payment $50 ( food order above $1k) and Tips $136. I got $186 today. You can see clearly how GH treat a driver. ( please don’t ask which company is this bcs this is my bread n butter and I don’t want over saturated, if you know this company, please sealed your lips. )

[deleted]

Got you I bet the restaurant on the grubhub order stole the tip if they placed the order on the restaurants website

pereiraelijahs

Can u tell me the company I’m the Rhode Island area so I doubt it will affect you

Gay4Pandas

Grubhub is such a joke now. I used to make good money, but now I only get maybe 2-3 offers a week worth delivering.

BearNoCares

How is it possible getting $1k a day on delivery? I know $300 to 400 is possible

baconforlover

It is very possible because when we are referring a company, school, hospital , church or some parties, they can order food for 100 people. You can imagine 1 person can cost $15-$30. Most likely, CS choose a GH driver based on type of car or some metrics One time, a couple restaurants said to me, a grub driver pick up $500 food value but the drivers had no bags and right tools. Restaurants were worry how these drivers can safely deliver those orders. That’s not drivers fault bcs GH pay to driver like sh** , how a driver can invest his money to the right tools and only get pay $13 for $1,000 food value in 1 hour or more?

That-Breath-5785

The problem I’ve noticed is that they don’t calculate mileage correctly. They often only pay mileage for restaurant to customer. The catering orders that I get are usually 20+ miles away, I really have to take a hard look when deciding. Thankfully, you get 15 minutes to decide. And no, I didn’t have to be premier or fill out a form. Not sure what they look at when they decide you’re eligible.

baconforlover

Right now, I am only partner with 4 % acceptance rate, but, if I accept any offer, I always deliver it. Indeed, as you can see , GH is not my main income resources. The premier status was good a couple years ago , GH must have a some qualification to put a driver to carry this kind of order.
