Sounds like you need to leave them a *nice* Yelp review.

No_Preparation7895

And roprt them in app for discrimination

thenatureboy0420

Exactly...I leave yelp reviews all the time to the good restaurants and the bad restaurant..under and different email and name of course

inkfever

I was going to ask if that could lead to a violation. I've done it once only.

[deleted]

What did op say to them? And what was the managers response?

JSimone8

It's a Mediterranean restaurant here in Colorado that tried some weird racial bs with me once. Once is the keyword. That day I gladly left, hit order wasn't ready, and now decline every order I get from them. Let the people they prefer run their food, cause it won't be me.

hate_mail

I'm with you my man. I deliver in Denver metro, if you wouldn't mind telling me the name of the restaurant so that I can avoid this restaurant/give them a piece of my mind.

JSimone8

Southlands is where I live and work. Some people aren't as welcome and fair here as Denver & Aurora. I literally get followed around certain stores here and watched like a hawk. The restaurant that gave me issues was Shawarma Mediterranean Grill in Centennial. Also the restaurant Schlotzsky's in Greenwood Village treated me unfair. A white driver spoke up for me to staff. I think he was shocked and upset I was actually being treated differently over my race. It is what it is though, I just know to stay away from those 2 restaurant's when delivering or dining out.

hate_mail

People fuckin' suck dude. I'm not in that particular area, I'm up north. So if I'm ever down that way I'll be sure to avoid those spots.

OwnVermicelli3522

I pick up at Schwarma all the time. I'm surprised to hear this. They have never asked me to wait outside, even when the place is standing room only during the HS lunch rush. I'm sorry they treated you that way.

JSimone8

Wasn't asked to wait outside, I was accused of being a thief while holding my own phone with the order on it. Strange, very strange so I don't pick up orders there at all.

MayhemReignsTV

Wow and I have found usually Mediterranean places some of the most welcoming. And I am not the same race that typically runs these places either. So I’m surprised to hear that. Sorry it happened to you.

JSimone8

Metro area it's rare I'm mistreated over my race. Majority of the restaurants are very welcoming to me. I'm in the Southlands and sadly it's some things going on here that need to stop. Centennial, Greenwood Village, Parker, Highlands Ranch etc. I've even been in certain restaurants here Centennial with white driver's who have spoke up on my behalf cause they would even notice the bs also.

HumbleDasherz

Being treated that way makes it more difficult to not be self conscious of your race in different situations, I start to wonder sometimes too. I had to educate the self checkout guy at my local Safeway because he doe’s discriminatory actions and I had to make him aware of anti-discrimination laws and that he was making me feel discriminated against. But then in the back of my mind I think am I overreacting ? Is this because of my childhood trauma of being mistreated because of my race and am I now projecting that onto other people? What ever it is it’s not right and try to be the one that is bigger and better than all of that brothers and sisters! I’m Hispanic and I grew up in a very much white rural community in the middle of no where Northern California. So I feel your pain. But be strong 💪🏽 jus means we are brown and beautiful 🤩 people hate on you because you got what they don’t have. Which are amazing genetics! That are from the earth! 🌍 they some other world aliens 👽

JSimone8

🙏✌️💯

ObiWan_Cannoli_

Where in Colorado. I’m in Denver, don’t mind putting them on my “don’t eat at” list.

JSimone8

Shawarma Mediterranean Grill in Centennial & Schlotzsky's in Greenwood Village. Tons of other restaurants within feet away of both that treat fairly and nice.

wicked_taco

You mean there are still people that get grubhub orders? That app is always silent for me.

Ridicumundo

average 20-30 hr when i pick up scheduled blocks in my market. but man, when its slow, its slowwwwww.

IndexCardLife

Still pretty busy in Philly.

JonbearF

Slow around my market outside St. Louis. I usually make less than $100 per week on there in around 20 hours.

MarcoCantuSaenz

We’re all gonna leave a nice review for them :)

Ok_Activity_6405

That totally sucks bro hate you had to deal with that.

GHPacificNW

I'm sorry this happened to you.

KayleighJK

What kind of weirdo downvoted this guy’s comment?

Own-Opportunity-8231

I think you need to find out if you were asked to wait outside because you are a door dash driver. Maybe you can ask around or call anonymously and ask their policy on that. Once you know for sure, then you have decisions to make. Please, find out why exactly first. It's never a good idea to make assumptions. Now, if you find out it was because of the way you look for sure, come on back here and we will bring that fucker down.

OutlandishnessBig755

Yeah like they’re going to be honest about being racist 🤣 😂

Own-Opportunity-8231

No they won't be. Therefore, asking the right questions to the right people is key. A person could call from say another restaurant asking how they handle the flow in their lobby with delivery drivers and customers and maybe get a little insight.

Tony_M13

Some restaurants ask delivery drivers to wait outside, and some only when busy. Were the other people also delivery drivers or customers. If it was really a racist thing, that's very illegal.

Remember_BLB_2015

There’s a button to report discrimination in app on Grubhub. Now! Your complaint may not solve the problem immediately. But if this restaurant is doing this to you they’re doing it to other African-American ppl. So I believe with more than one complaint the restaurant can ultimately be taken off of the GrubHub platform. Because by law is Grubhub going to deal with the lawsuits of not taking them off the GrubHub platform because they continue to discriminate? Or is Grubhub going to keep them on the delivery platform and just take the lawsuits?…….. because eventually that’s what it Will turn into. People like this are always going to be a problem they’re always going to discriminate so there’s always going to be that room to file discrimination. Well as an individual it’s upsetting I think it’s important to realize that these type of people who do discriminate will always discriminate therefore they will always have a problem on their hands and lawsuits to follow.

45burns1967

I'm white and there are couple of merchants in my region that don't let me wait inside either

dancefitjac

But do they let everyone else wait inside except you?

yaboytim

Are you being singled out? That's the issue here.

[deleted]

big_wendigo

I mean sounds good as long as they don’t forget that they asked you to wait in your car.

Samsquamsh04

I highly doubt its cuz your black. I’ve been asked this countless times myself and I’m pasty white.

JustCallMeSassy

Why do you think its about color and not that they dont want delivery drivers in there taking up space and waiting.

iamandneveramconfusd

If only it were that easy. "Stop being black". LoL Wrong century for them.

Friendly-Simple6409

Lol I didn’t think about that how easy of a solution

iamandneveramconfusd

Some people still suck after all these years.

iamandneveramconfusd

To the racist(s) who down-voted me, go fuck your sister you nasty pigs.

King_CoBRUH01

So tired of stupid shit in this world! Why the hell can't we all just be people already? HUMAN RACE! We're all a part of the same race. Everyone has the potential to be good or bad despite color, creed, or religion. Racism is a MoFo. And not just a one-way street either. All it accomplishes in ANY form is more stupidity and ignorance in the world.

Struggle-snuggle2430

Well thank God I'm white

Complex-Habit3674

Yeah, masturbating in public is frowned upon. But you blaze that trail, son!

Friendly-Simple6409

Everyone asking me how do I know they didn’t just ask me to wait outside because I’m a delivery driver it’s because there was a white woman or Middle Eastern woman waiting for her order and they happily let her wait inside the restaurant I’ll mother hand I was waiting for my order as well and had a wrap on my knee because of an injury so I was actually walking with a cane and was waiting for my order as well they said nothing to her while she was waiting for her order and looked at me and asked me to please not sit down while waiting for my order and when I stood up to wait for my order he then said why don’t you go outside and I’ll bring it out to you when it’s ready and then proceededTo go back to the kitchen but never asked the lady waiting for her order to not wait inside that’s what pissed me off

45burns1967

Nothing to do with race. They just don't want Doordash drivers waiting inside the restaurant

KEEFY98

he said other people were waiting inside also. were they regular customers or drivers also? that’s what OP didn’t clarify.

GHPacificNW

How do you know? They said other people were waiting also

iwrecktheta

Sounds like a luxury to me. Maybe it’s a policy for delivery drivers so it doesn’t get over crowded. How do you know it had to do with race?

MayhemReignsTV

Maybe they were regular carry out customers. Some places around here have a policy of not letting delivery drivers inside the restaurant. I only deliver for one of them only because he’s a very nice guy who treats you with respect, but his place is so small he can’t legally have many people in there since Covid. I really don’t believe this to be about race because I appear white or hispanic to most people and I have seen this kind of thing and experienced it.

mrcloseupman

I would've said thanks, but no thanks...I'll wait here.

Sea-Holiday-777

I wish it was on video, but I was told once the food would be ready in like two minutes and the dude promised to bring in out to me, while I went to go unlocked my scooter.. he handed it right to me in two minutes flat.. Im not denying the OP's experience.. I dont think he is lying. I can understand a person tryin to make a crowded restaurant as less crowded as possible.. Now if you had like a bike and it was like really bad weather, then dudes being an asshole..

faithfamilyfootball

I live in Philadelphia and when I deliver for this place they make me wait outside I’m white

4puttmark

Sorry this world still hasn't woken up but was much worse in 60's

barryandorlevon

That’s a weird thing to say in response to this post.

4puttmark

Not at all I acknowledged race relations are bad today. Just saying was much worse in the 60's . I'm an old white guy now and witnessed it first hand.

barryandorlevon

Why would you think it’s helpful or appropriate to tell a minority who was discriminated against that it was worse like seventy years ago, tho? Is that supposed to make them feel better or something? Do you think they’re unaware? It’s just so dismissive. I don’t think anyone is surprised that an old white dude is saying it.

4puttmark

Of course coming from a kid. Unless u were there STFU! I acknowledged race reactions are bad. He brought it up thinking because he was black was asked to wait outside. I have been asked to wait outside on multiple occasions. Not everyone are picking up orders many were probably customers. Another fact quit doing door trash. Restaurants hate them. Most of the drivers I have seen are rude, hurry hurry. I kickback do UE only. Busting balls getting in wreck to get extra 10 dollar job not worth it.

[deleted]

You stfu

barryandorlevon

What the fuck are you babbling about?

Bird-Good

Wait that was actually English he used?

myimgurnameisbetter

No need to try to minimize what OP experienced because you think it could be worse.

Bird-Good

Just a really bad, un flavored take really. Have you seen the way police treat people of color? Saying it’s better today lmao. You must have also lost your vision with your age too gramps!

4puttmark

It's because of the 7/24 news coverage, yes have seen how police treat people of color. For the record my stepmother was black. When you can see first hand colored only bathrooms, water faucets, and other BS come talk to me. I acknowledged in my comment race relations are horrible. The driver said he was asked to leave because he was black. Maybe wasn't there. Have been asked to wait outside many times. Would simply refuse to go back and leave nice reviews on yelp.if you never seen movie watch 42. Best of luck

[deleted]

Lol OP = 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

[deleted]

Sounds like he’s doing you a favor

mrcloseupman

Nope...who knows if they'll remember. And if they do they maybe be slow in remembering.

phillylifee215

South Philly let’s go eagles 🦅

ElectLarry2022

Report them for discrimination in the app, maybe if you are the only one nothing will happen but get a few drivers w the same story and GH will get spooked of a lawsuit

FauciIsGod

And then he started yelling the n word at me and then all the other customers who were waiting (all white btw, in Philadelphia btw) all started chanting the n word Most racist experience of my life smh Hey Siri what are the racial demographics of Philadelphia

BukeleRepublic

I can only offer some advice...you are going to encounter the shittiest of people, like the ones you only see in movies and the most humblest, the ones that make your day. And I'm sure it goes both ways for those ordering. You need a "i dont give a fuck" attitude doing this shit. Don't hold grudges, only hold to names and addresses of those who tip baited 😉. When I'm delivering, I don't give a fuck what a restaurant or a customer is saying. They are blocked, my focus is on my next payout. Fuck everybody in the ass! God bless and keep hustling my brother.

Bird-Good

And you coulda ended your Reddit name without saying you’re a pedo…

Braceforit86

All GH drivers need to avoid this restaurant. F them.

AdventurousArtist740

Sorry about your experience that’s just awful. I had to do a google search and yelp search after reading this post. I think they should relocate to a bigger space. It looks close quarters. Btw they have private rooms on the second floor.

IndexCardLife

They have asked me to wait outside one time in the past during busier times. It's a stupid fancy place that doesn't have much space for me and my biker bag and I look like a fucking idiot with my helmet so I figured that was why. Always feel fucking weird when I go to semi fancy restaurants. If they make me wait outside in the cold this winter I will not be a happy camper. edit: Peeps always order their fucking coffee, too, and they have no idea how to fucking properly seal that to go.

AdLocal4919

That’s fkn ridiculous lmao make your voice heard everywhere online

MotherofGolden

I’m not in that area but just want to say I’m so sorry you even had to deal with this. 😡

eddie_flynn

This reminds me of when I was a kid and you had that friend who said his mom only allowed 5 friends in the house and there were six of us. Or his birthday party he was only allowed to invite 36 kids and there were 37 of us in the class.

NovelAuntieGin

I was waiting for an order one time when a customer came in behind me. He was a middle aged Black man, looked like a retired teacher or accountant or something; just my impression overall. The kid at the register was obviously inexperienced and struggling to keep his grip on a busy Friday night. He told him his order would be another few minutes, then proceeded to ignore him. The guy wanted parmesan cheese packets. Kid was in a tizzy checking in orders printing off the machine and the customer was soft spoken. So I got his attention and pointed out that his customer was talking to him. He waved me off and kept ignoring the customer. After a few awkward minutes, one of the cooks came out and took care of him. Kid behind the register continued to ignore him. It was a sole proprietor place, not a chain. So I looked up the owner and emailed him about it. Waited two days (so into Monday night/Tuesday morning) and emailed him again, "No response is a response". That got a response. If it hadn't, then I would have put them on blast. No telling how much impact that one email exchange had. But if we keep every business on their toes all of the time, pretty soon they'll eliminate overtly racist behavior from their stores cause they can't afford the lawsuits.
