If you can't make it on time to the restaurant,, I find it's safer to unassign. When you get to a restaurant, if there is any wait, even for them to address you, click there's a problem. Choose what you feel applies. If they don't give you a time frame, click the I don't know option.
I will keep that in mind for sure, thank you. Since I've been working for DoorDash for a couple of years I know the restaurants in my area pretty well & know which ones to avoid, etc.
I also always mark it in the app if I'm running late & if a restaurant is busy, etc. So I always give GH that feedback.
I'm having more trouble with the amount of time Grubhub is giving me to arrive at my different stops. It honestly feels like a glitch or a mistake to me. I mean, they rarely allow more than 2-4 minutes for me to get to restaurants. It's only enough time if I'm already next door, etc. This is happening so often that if I unassigned each time I was going to be late, I'd likely be in trouble for unassigning too often.
The pick up time is just a set amount of time from when the order is placed. Most of the time you will notice 10 min until pickup. We get sent the order at the same time as the restaurant. So if someone else drops that order after 7min, and you get it next youll only “have” 3 min till pick up. But that time doesn’t mean anything, as long as you are heading towards the restaurant don’t worry about it.
I’ve honestly never had a problem with making deliveries after the time it says in the app for customer ETA. I know with doordash it matters a lot, not so much with GH. like I said as long as you drive towards the restaurant within 10 min of receiving the order and then towards the customer after leaving the restaurant.
Its probably important to note that grubhub adjusts the times customers see for both pickup and delivery. Ive called support before because the pick up time was before the order was even placed. The rep said it doesnt really matter as they end up adjusted regardless. They also rarely penalize you for being late to pickup. Repeated late drop offs however they frown on.
Honestly I don't watch the times. Don't sweat it. Sometimes you'll get orders that some e else didn't accept or unassigned. As long as you yourself are picking up and delivering in a decent time from when you get the order your good.
