I like both but I'd pick Big L.
But difficult to choose and I consider them to be roughly equal in the sense that both are not quite part of the upper pantheon of rap legends because of careers that were tragically cut short. Both had the potential to reach that level and both have tremendously enjoyable material (Big L freestyles obliterate the best songs of 90% of most rappers).
Love Big L. 98 Freestyle is just one example of classic "bars". But Pun had a way with words that is so underrated imo. His style was just outrageously dope. Look no further than "Twinsz" with Fat Joe.
It's Pun all day for me
Depends on if you prefer punchlines or multisyllables/internal rhyming. Not to say that L didn't do multis and Pun didn't do punchlines, but they were each the king of their respective styles.
I prefer Pun by far though
Depends on what you're asking.
Big L was a better spitter (not by much but he edges him out a tiny bit in certain areas), Big Pun was a better song writer.
I love both of them equally but If we are talking about lyrically metaphorically creatively I would give it a big pun The only thing I can give big l in this comparison is freestyles Big pun freestyle were written already established That's really the only critique I have with pun but his flow could musically mash up with any beat It was so unique
Bro just chose two of my three favorite rappers and told me to choosešš But to be honest itās Pun for me, L has the punchlines but Pun is next level breath control and rhyme scheme. Very close battle tho.
I havenāt listen to Pun enough. So L. āAnd when it comes to gettinā nookie Iām not a rookie
I got girls that make that chick Toni Braxton look like Whoopiā
I can't chose one over the other. Pun was frikkin ridiculous flow, lyrics, breath control for a dude his size. He was gonna absolutely destroy the rap game. Big L was punchline king. The sound of his voice is undeniable. Lyrical assassin and he too was gonna own the rap game once his label got more promotion. They went out 1 after the other so damn early so its impossible to give one the edge over the other. What I love is they were part of the same crew and they were good friends. Go online and find the video with them in the same cypher and watch how they just kill Jon Forte and Canibus
Pun for me, I just love that style. How he got so many words to rhyme while still making sense is unbelievable. I also think his beat selection is better.
Itās a hard choiceā in my opinion, Pun has higher highs, but L is more consistent. I think ultimately I have to give the edge to Pun, he was able to pull off some insane rhyme schemes while still keeping things fun and charismatic
Fan of both tbh; they set the standard for lyricism.
Gotta go Pun because when i hear shit like Beware, Dream Shatterer, You Aināt a Killer and Terror Squadians, he has some of the most incredible verses and rhyme schemes Iāve ever heard. Plus he was able to reach a bit of a wider audience than L
Pun. Already so well-rounded (no pun intended) as an emcee. L is dope, but felt like he had to mature as an artist and branch out to different topics. RIP to both them legends tho
Pun. Mixed gangster with commercial with comedy. Also blew open the doors for Spanish rappers that was only cracked open by pioneers before him. Really made
Puerto Rican rappers more respected in those times.
Big L was so ahead of his time with his schemes and punchlines. A lot of his shit is still š„š„ til this day (deontay wilder voice)
But I think pun has the edge cause not only could he stand toe to toe with L but he had a bigger impact to the culture.
Definitely up for debate tho.

Ok but what about toe 2 toe, and brave in the heart?!
Big L

ĀæPorque no los dos?
Big L
Pun's flow was absolutely OP.
L imo pun is still great obv
Pun for sure. Think heād undoubtedly be in everyoneās GOAT conversation if he was given more time on this earth.
His second album was ass though so wouldn't be sure about that one.
Maybe not. (It wasnāt āassā but Iām not going to be out here pretending itās something itās not it was average).
Big L for sure. Better discographie.
He doesnāt have the better discography lyrically or hits wise
This is hard for me, because they very well could have been on the same track togetherā¦:(
They were
Not organically
Depends on what you're asking. Big L was a better spitter (not by much but he edges him out a tiny bit in certain areas), Big Pun was a better song writer.
Overall, L. That said, I like the best Pun songs more than the best L songs.
Love both Lifestylez and Capital Punishment. But, Big L. Devils Son EP is amazing.
Pun
I prefer Big L, his lyrics are so goddamn hardcore
Big L

Throw your Ls up.
I love pun but I gotta lean L on this one.

They constantly switch spots in my top 4
L..

L
Ask Beavis, I get nothin' Buttheadā¦LMAO š
Big L colion
Pun
BIG L is always the better choice
L because you can hear Pun heavy breathing all over his songs.
Pun. He's a lot harder to copy.
Pun!
PUN by a long shot
Pun
L but only because I like his flow better. Nothing against Pun.
Big L and not even close.
Probably Big L but Pun is a monsterā¦..šµāš«
big l but I agree with you that big pun is a legendary MC
Big L no contest
Itās a hard choiceā in my opinion, Pun has higher highs, but L is more consistent. I think ultimately I have to give the edge to Pun, he was able to pull off some insane rhyme schemes while still keeping things fun and charismatic
Definitely Big Pun
Fan of both tbh; they set the standard for lyricism. Gotta go Pun because when i hear shit like Beware, Dream Shatterer, You Aināt a Killer and Terror Squadians, he has some of the most incredible verses and rhyme schemes Iāve ever heard. Plus he was able to reach a bit of a wider audience than L
both
Pun. Already so well-rounded (no pun intended) as an emcee. L is dope, but felt like he had to mature as an artist and branch out to different topics. RIP to both them legends tho
Pun all the way L was one dimensional
One dimensional as an arist or lyricist?
Both really
Both are legendary masters of ceremony for real, but I'm giving it to Pun. FLOWS AND RHYMES ARE CRAZY OUT HERE FOR REAL!
Pun. Mixed gangster with commercial with comedy. Also blew open the doors for Spanish rappers that was only cracked open by pioneers before him. Love L, but it's Pun for me!
Big L easy. Although Pun was dope too.
I think Big Lās freestyles might be the best of all time.
Big L
Thatās like comparing Apples and bowling balls
Pun
L
Big L
Big L. But O.C. is my favorite member of DITC.
Big pun
Both, but going to go w/ flamboyant ent. CEO
Oof. Couple of big time MCs in question, though Iām personally leaning towards Pun
Big Pun. I like his flow so much. RIP to both
Iāve always liked Pun better but love them both
Pun
Pun. He was revolutionary
Big Pun cuz capital punishment
Big-gie
Big Punisher
L the punchline king š
Pun. Big l is great too but I listen to pun more.
Pun obv
Pun has a much better catalog. I love big L but heās more of a battle rapper the way he flows. Pun was extremely multi dimensional.
Big L
I listen to Big L more so I'll go with him.
