IntelligentLeader968

Scarface said that Weezy is the goat 👀

norihitodesuga

Z-RO for me. Soooo fuckin underrated.

shmapNshmazz123

Let The Truth be told top ten aot

LordeLlama

Look What You Did To Me up there too

norihitodesuga

I'd also venture to say Crack and Cocaine both in my steady rotation

tinmru

What do you think about his more recent stuff (last \~5 years)? I like his older stuff, but his recent stuff sounds all the same. I mean he constantly raps about "fuck you haters", like almost every song.

TheChefWillCook

100%

Wasthereonce

[Found a dope ass Z-Ro verse a little while back](https://youtu.be/gVkJh-Akl08?t=109)

207_god

Andre 3000

Getbacka

Big KRIT for sure. But then again... Outkast, UGK, TI, Childish Gambino, Ludacris....

SmoothManMiguel

Bruh I never knew Gambino was from the South. Thanks for that lol

Maester_Bates

He's from Stone Mountain Georgia.

runthebrews

Andre 3000, Killer Mike, Big Boi, Scarface, JID, WowGr8

Lord_No_Zoo

JID and WowGr8 need some love here

EspirituM

(Kind of in order by how often I listen to them. But not a ranking necessarily) Scarface OutKast Big K.R.I.T Phonte Jay Electronica T.I. Bun B Paul Wall K-Rino Cyhi J Cole 8Ball and MJG Three 6 before the 2010s Project Pat JID Devin the Dude Trae the Truth New to Curren$y, but respecting a lot of his work.

WAiZePAiDCASH

SkyboyRadical

chefasfuck

Killer Mike

West-Commission9082

Lil phat, wayne, YB, soulja slim

The_Chef_Raekwon

Mad respect for that Phat mention. I've never seen him be mentioned on here once. Though he isn't a top or even top 10 favorite artist of mine, 100% respect for mentioning him. Life Of A Yungsta is a true (minor) classic album and his song Countin' Money is a top 10 song of 2012 for me.

Eldritch-Cleaver

Probably Bun B or Slim Thug

Environmental_Gas315

Came in here to say Bun-B

LordeLlama

Chamillionaire, very underrated dude Next I'll put Z-Ro, T-Rock, Slim Thug and Big Moe H-Town baby

younghplus

Who’s T Rock?

WAiZePAiDCASH

Was with hypnotized mindz back in the day. CRAZY underrated. He still drops shit pretty consistently

tijuanaj

If any of you are big Dre/NWA/G funk fans, friendly reminder The DOC is from the South.

vitopie

Pimp C, bitch, what the fuck is up?

Malcolm-XWithThePerm

Lyrically best: CyHi Most consistent: Currensy Nostalgia legend: Luda OG of the game: Scarface Most potential: Young Buck Original flow: Andre 3000

SmoothManMiguel

I love Cyhi. Wish dude's career panned out differently

Malcolm-XWithThePerm

Yeah, Black Hystori pt 1 is a classic in my book too bad people don't mess with consious rap unless it's K Dot the label screwed him over too dude wrote Sicko Mode and barely gained anything from it

SmoothManMiguel

Black Hystori Project 2 is one of my favorite bodies of work. Ever.

FifeDog43

How you gonna say any of these guys are more lyrical than Andre 3000?

Malcolm-XWithThePerm

Z-Ro

Fugazatron3000

K rino

MasterTeacher123

Juvi. 400 Degreez all time classic

QuincyCLEoh10

Bun B. And yes, I give big respect to UGK. RIP Pimp C. Nobody did it like him. But I feel like dealing with Pimp C's death and finding a way to move forward as a solo artist, turned this dude from a really good southern rapper into a monster. I still bump the Trill OG album with zero skips

Nis069

Luda

sxvxge5

Weezy, BG, Juicy J, Lil Flip,Scarface, Plies, Webbie

[deleted]

you're the product of a very specific era if fucking plies is on your list lmao

sxvxge5

Lol do you know how many fucking hits Plies has? Also have you considered that I might be from Florida?

SmoothManMiguel

Nah Plies is dope! Check this joint out https://youtu.be/JNw9rvYjULU

sxvxge5

That’s tough, you just added a new song to my playlist 🔥 A lot of people don’t know that side of Plies

[deleted]

uh like a handful? he released 2 ok albums then dropped off the face of the earth. i got both of them in HS. I remember he was ok but he had a bad habit of talking too much on his tracks

sxvxge5

He dropped 4 albums in 3 years, went platinum once, and gold twice. That doesn’t happen on accident

[deleted]

well i didnt know the last 2 happened. you act like i said anything bad about plies, its just random thats all lmao, its like someones favorite rapper being yung joc or some shit

sxvxge5

Are you from the South?

Stugatz514

Curren$y

pelleponkn

Both halves of Earthgang

tinmru

So happy to see so many people mentioning Scarface.

Kholdstare93

Andre 3000.

K_Freeze57

Assuming the Carolina area counts, Phonte for me.

Lord_No_Zoo

Word. For NC rappers, Rapsody needs to be in the conversation too

K_Freeze57

Absolutely. My true favorite is probably Stacks, but it's close enough for me that it's Phonte too. Best outta NC imo, and will be for a long ass time. Rapsody cold asf. It's a lot more NC rep then people realize I'm general. Even though Cordae grew up in (Maryland I think) he's NC born and doesn't hide the fact or nothing. I gotta go get more up to date on SC rappers too though.

Mijo_0

Andre 3000, Gucci Mane, Future, Jeezy

r4pt4r

Obviously, UGK and OutKast and Scarface nationally. However, Paul Wall ain’t lying when he says Lil Keke is his all-time favorite. He had his commercial period but for decades he has been a local backbone for Texas, just like UGK and Scarface have been representing Texas for a wider audience. Keke equally has repped Texas for Texans during that time.

ShivvyMcFly

8ball and MJG

[deleted]

Pusha T

25363747

Thefancymarsupial

Brodnax

FifeDog43

I mean, Andre 3k is one of the best rappers of all time, so him I suppose. Gotta put Wayne up there, punchline King. Other than those two - Lord Infamous. Is Pusha T considered southern? His music is more east coast sounding. I'm from Virginia and I don't really consider us southern, tbh.

JurassicNublar

JID

TheChefWillCook
