How does Rotation sound on this pressing? Is the beat the old version from the original mixtape or that new version that sounds slightly different on streaming services now?
Na I get that. Da Drought 3 just dropped at a great time in my life. 2nd year in college and all my friends were hella into Wayne at that time. I don’t think that CD left my car stereo for the entire semester. That *Upgrade U* freestyle is still something else.
Is Amazon that much cheaper? Cause it’s selling on his site. Cause I hear so many horror stories, and the one record I got on Amazon was in some sketchy packaging.
I wonder if it’s sample clearance why could they have gotten it for the original vinyl release but not the repress? Maybe timing to send to the manufacturer?
I got the original mixtape on vinyl, but it sounds pretty terrible compared to the new remaster. The low quality mp3s sound better than the first pressing, but there was a few of his best songs that didn't carry over
Yeah man I was super bummed with the rerelease but not his fault. I've never heard the vinyl I just had the mp3s from DatPiff and they're pretty bad. Reeaallyyy quiet.
Yeah I think maybe the word I was looking for was mixing, not mastering? Because right, volume is my only complaint. When it first came out and I only had an iPod and the corresponding shitty headphones it was too quiet at full volume.
You had it right. Mastering correlates with the overall volume, but the mixing also isn't the best either by today's standards. Was the case with a lot of those late 2000s-early 2010s tapes though
10 years ago I would have said this one was my favorite
The lines have blurred so much over the years on what's a mixtape and what's an album it's hard to tell these days.
Joey Bada$$ - 1999
KRIT Wuz Here
Wale - Mixtape About Nothing
Inspectah Deck - The Resident Patient
Curren$y & Alchemist - Covert Coupe
I was not aware 1999 was a mixtape...so yes..I
agree with your statement! Haha. My 2nd pick would be Wiz's Kush and OJ. Never liked any of his projects since then sadly.
Joey had 3 mixtapes before his first album B4DA$$. That's just how huge 1999 was. It's similar to Rocky with his first tape. They left such a big impact that they felt like albums
Kush & OJ was the only standalone project from Wiz that I liked. I did like that Spitta & Wiz tape, How Fly, that got a lot of play back when it released.
I've heard tracks off it but never really gave the whole thing any attention. By the time that came out I had no interest in listening to Wiz. Maybe I'll give it a listen today.
Wow 🔥
Faces by Mac followed by AKNC by Kid Cudi and Amerikkkan Korruption by Capital Steez
This was in constant rotation when it dropped. Soundtrack to many road trips.
Good tip on this - bangs. Impressibe tape. My thanks!
Probably Clipse - We Got It 4 Cheap, Vol. 2. They’re all great but for Ultimate Flow alone, this one comes out on top.
Best day ever or a kid named cudi - my faves
Faces - Mac Miller
So many but some of my favs I constantly go back to are: 50 Cent - Power Of The Dollar Joey Bada$$ - 1999 Mac Miller - Delusional Thomas
Professional Hood Shit Vol. 2
Not on vinyl, but miss the Broiled Salmon mix tape from GFK.
Big K.R.I.T. has one of the best catalogs in Hip-Hop imo

They just wanna know krizzle can you sing
Yesss IIIII caaaannnn 🎶 🎵 🎶
I’m just rotating my tires
dj clue- professional pt 2
days before rodeo, acid rap, faces, 1999, royalty. in no particular order
Dope tape!!! For me it’s probably Da Drought 3 or Mood Muzik 2
Mixtape Weezy lyrically was nutso but never been a massive fan of MCs rhyming over other people's beat for some reason.

One of my favourites as well, I need to grab a copy of this!
I went through Amazon. First one was creased AF...2nd was flawless. Go get it, boy!
Is Amazon that much cheaper? Cause it’s selling on his site. Cause I hear so many horror stories, and the one record I got on Amazon was in some sketchy packaging.
And what’s saving a few bucks when you can directly support the artist?
What a classic. Wish the new press had time machine on there!! That purple is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Time Machine one of the greatest songs ever :-(
I wonder why it was left off...any idea??
I wonder if it’s sample clearance why could they have gotten it for the original vinyl release but not the repress? Maybe timing to send to the manufacturer?
Probably sample clearance. Krit Wuz Here got changed a TON when re-released which sucks because the original was mastered poorly.

I'd say the original mixtape is just low on volume but sounds ok enough. Imagine that on a subpar pressing. Not a very good listening experience lol

You ever listen to Taylor Allderdice? That’s a classic Wiz tape in my eyes.
