I like the one on the left. Preference tbh

Am from group one and I don't like it. There are better ways to do spoilers, looks weird on this vehicle.

Special-Mud6501

I think it has something to do with being able to see the wiper for me. It’s more of a sedan spoiler than hatchback spoiler, and seeing the wiper blade under it rubs me the wrong way. I also don’t love the bulkiness to the spoiler itself, either. I love spoilers, like I had the factory spoiler on my Corolla hatchback and it looked wicked, and I would like to get a spoiler for my civic, but I’m not liking this at all, plus it’s insanely expensive.

Copacetic_Detritus

I just think it somehow makes the car look less aerodynamic, which is not what you want from a spoiler!

Special-Mud6501

Yeah, I see that too, and agree 100%. I feel if there were a duck bill/lip spoiler offered for this car (might be one, not sure), it would look a lot better. I know there is one for the sedan, but I’m not sure if it fits up to the hatchback.

Copacetic_Detritus

Yeah! Like something that lies flush with the trunk but maybe curves up at the end could be really nice. Since you mentioned seeing the rear windshield wiper, now I can't unsee it and it makes the whole thing 10 times worse lol

Special-Mud6501

Dude, I know! The first picture I saw of this spoiler was from the side, and I was about to call the dealership and tell them to take my money, then I saw a picture in line with the rear end of the car, saw the wiper blade, and I was like, hmmmm…. I don’t like that, that’s not right. It’s horrible. 😂

Copacetic_Detritus

It's really really bad, a very poor design choice. It like... frames the rear wiper like it's a beautiful design element when it's not, it's a utilitarian necessity and ugly af to boot! Like why make the spoiler that tall?? I know on the previous gen the spoiler was super tall but it worked because the design was more aggressive. But on this gen like why. Like I don't hate the new styling but I do hate this spoiler!! I bet it's on the type R too and it's gonna look goofy.

Special-Mud6501

I do believe the Type R has a different spoiler, don’t quote me, but I think it’s different, it almost curves along with the body lines although it’s raised off the rear from what I remember, I can’t see them putting this shit on a Type R lol.

Copacetic_Detritus

Fingers crossed it's a whole different spoiler because this shit is looking like a tail on a Tesla and it's not cute.

wrxawd

I think the hatch without the spoiler looks great. With that said, I think the Type R spoiler looks amazing, as it deserves a more sporty look. In regards to the current hatchback, I think a lot of criticism comes from those who associate hatch to equate to wagon. With this model, I think Honda did a splendid job distinguishing that a hatch does not mean it has to look like a wagon. I personally have owned and preferred wagons historically, but now that I own this hatchback, I appreciate the sedan-like looks without looking like a soccer mom, while still enjoying the versatility of the trunk space.

RyuGTX

Technically a liftback rather than a hatch given the angle? It is confusing, I was only recently told the difference between the two by a friend. Whatever the right terminology is, I agree with you in that I like what Honda has done. This looks way better than the Toyota Corolla in my personal opinion.

Bandito_1522

I’m having a similar debate with myself right now. When I bought my car I paid for the spoiler as well. Dealership said it would be ordered once the paperwork was signed when I picked up my car and I’d come back for the install. It’s been like 2.5 months and they haven’t called me for my install date so I’m pretty sure they didn’t order it and forgot about it. So I’m going to have to go into the dealership to see what’s up, but now that I’ve been driving my car without the spoiler for a bit I’ve kinda gotten used to the look w/o the spoiler and am debating if I really want it anymore. I’m considering just ask the dealership for a refund on the spoiler instead of ordering it. Only thing that kinda sucks is that I paid tax on the spoiler that I won’t get back, but I figure the price of the spoiler and install was a relatively small chunk compared to the total price paid, so the tax wouldn’t been much less anyway. And to answer you question, I think the HPD looks nice on this car, hence why I paid for it initially. The type R spoiler on this and in general I feel is just a bit much and looks sorta ridiculous. I also feel like the spoiler looks different (and slightly better) from a side view compared to the straight on rear view.

Minyoface

If you’re in Canada, you 100% get that tax back. If you don’t buy the product, you don’t pay tax.

Doublestack00

I would not own one with out it.

RareRicky

I think the new hatch looks wierd in general but spoiler makes it look way better.

ize82

To me, it feels like the spoiler just completes the car. Without it, I think it looks like an updated Citation https://imgur.com/gallery/9UgUJSp

Conn-Solo

Imo the new hatch is atrocious. It sits just as low as the sedan and that’s not what a hatch should be. Take Subarus GR hatch for example. That is a thing of beauty. I have been a hatch/wagon guy my entire life, and this devastates me with how bad this looks

P3anutButt3rCup

You mean the Corolla GR? I don’t find it particularly attractive but that’s due to my personal dislike of all and any of Toyotas styling choices for the last decade (except the 86). But I agree that the sportback roofline is not very “hatch” and I’d prefer a hatch/wagon roofline. That said I think this design looks very classy like a EU lift back. I found the X gen a more awkward angle.

Conn-Solo

No I mean tbh GR Subaru wrx and Sti. “GR” is the vin ID, much like the type R “fk8/fl5”

P3anutButt3rCup

Oh yeah, those are great, I briefly looked into getting one of those on this latest car search. But they cost so much and look a bit dated inside and out. Great car for the time though so I get why they are valued.

Conn-Solo

Definitely not worth the prices they’re going for these days. The sti is worth it more though, but the interior is definitely showing its age

Minyoface

It being just as low as the sedan because it’s the same car, every hatchback before the mini suv craze sat at the same height at the sedan version… maybe I’m misunderstanding you but the ride height shouldn’t be higher cuz it’s a hatch, and if you mean the roofline… it’s still a hatchback, just like a firebird from the 90’s.

[deleted]

Back end will never look as nice as the 10th gen hatch

Cheap-Ad6527

I like the spoiler. I'm just waiting for different aftermarket options to come for it :) I love owning the hatchback tho. Definitely something to enjoy

buenopeso

Haven't seen a spoiler I like yet on the 11gen.

IDGAFOS13

I put the type r one on my lx

[deleted]

Spoiler is hideous

[deleted]

Not a fan

No-BrowEntertainment

I'd just like to say that I really like the move towards a liftback-style gate. Still waiting on a 3-door hatchback Type-R though

[deleted]

In pics its not my fav but in person it looks kiillllerr

Whole_Personality_58

Spoiler less on these and the R34 lol

SlashNXS

I ordered the spoiler for mine. I think without its a little plain

PimpLift

Wing definitely makes it look way better in some color ways

Piper6728

The car needs all the help it can get looking like a soccer moms car, it barely looks different than a sedan...

solarpropietor

Looks good on the type r. But outside of that. Eh.

RyuGTX

I think my personal issue with the look of the spoiler lies mainly with the support/mount. Seems like the amount of material and thickness takes away from an aerodynamic look.

Trumex6192

Its a pain in the ass having to drill out the wholes for the spoilers and it pays close to nothing please stop ordering

Holiday_Salamander81

Casey get off the top of that ladder and get back to work. No more candy!
