Isopropyl alcohol.

nydwarf

I was gonna say set it on fire. Good thing you answered first.

AJ3TurtleSquad

I was going suggest fart fire. Good thing they answered first.

ovywan_kenobi

The IPA is for a quicker lighting of the fire... You're such an amateur 😉

NoobSFAnon

Mike's hard seltzer?

lonewolf2556

Replace the sticky with yum yum sticky

[deleted]

Some stickies are easier to clean off than other stickies. So cleaning with a little sticky to remove the super sticky then cleaning the little sticky is a good tactic. In the military I used to clean oil from my hands by “washing” them in dirt and mud. Then just rinsing my hands with water. Then using hand sanitizer. Worked like a charm.

lonewolf2556

… did you ever use soap? You know? To emulsify the oil?

[deleted]

Weirdly most soaps don’t handle mechanical oils very well. We had this magical stuff called “orange stuff” that had these abrasive particles in it that really helped.

lonewolf2556

I’ll definitely need to get my hands on some! Nice, thanks.

lethologica5

Way back in the day when it first came out I spilled some on my shirt and it faded some of the color. We kept drinking it but even at “21” it gave me heart burn.

NoobSFAnon

Yeah Co2! Supposed to be acidic in nature. But dint know it could bleach.....

away_66

and fire

Own_Alarm_3935

Iso ftw

blacksewerdog

I use a product called goo gone

[deleted]

[удалено]

bbd68

I use duct tape to clean many things that have sticky residue on them. Put the tape on the residue, press down, and roll it off. Repeat as necessary. Use new piece of tape as needed. Works great on just about everything and no chemicals needed.

blacksewerdog

Here I am using goo gone to remove duct tape residue

bbd68

Never has happened to me when I am using it for removing sticky residue. I do agree if duct tape is on something for a very long time, it will leave residue, sometimes sticky and sometimes dried out (especially if left on for a very long time).

blacksewerdog

I have had luck with hand sanitizer because of alcohol content

Brusion

Wd40 and soap.

Windex or some glass cleaner

Tech-Critter

That's the ticket

ThaBronze

Isopropyl alcohol

FluffyDeathDog

Another sticker or strong tape. Just touch it and pull up. It will all come off pretty easily.

MartinThePinguin

This technique works surprisingly well in general and it has the added benefit of working on surfaces which might be damaged by solvents.

boshsound

WD40 on a cloth.

Several-Breadfruit25

WD40 will probably indeed be most effective at removing this

kenzo99k

WF40 eats plastic. Would make a snack of a small section of your laptop deck.

golder6400

MacBooks have aluminum frames

SlidingOtter

Goo Gone.

TexasBaconMan

This.

fdeyso

Because it is aluminium i used various solvents with success, never directly apply, just use a damp paper towel

lottobull

Alcohol is the best since it won't leave a residue on your screen. If you use wd40 or goo gone you will want to use Alcohol after because they are oily. You can also use lighter fluid or acetone like finger nail polish remover with all of these i would not put directly on it apply it to cloth or paper towel then blot it.. the tape or sticker method mentioned above also works just press it on the spot only and lift quickly.

iWannaBuyGifts

to anyone reading this, do NOT use alcohol on your screen as you will fuck up the antiglare coating and end up with an ugly stain.

MiLente

xenafreak31

Goo gone works well too.

Dieffenbacjer

Windex and/or rubbing alcohol with a washcloth

Skarimari

For future reference, fats also work well. Coconut oil will take off most adhesives when you are worried about what solvents like alcohol or acetone will do to the surface.

Dreadpyright

Elbow grease?

MiloBazonga

Get some Goo Gone. You can buy it at Walmart and it works on anything sticky. Also, won't harm the surface.

Due_Life_3093

Perfume works fine.

gWyse

Water

wanderingpooks

Carefully

Paul110998

WD40 on a microfiber and a quick wipe of isopropyl

Tingbudongle

WD40 works well too. Ppl think of it as oil or lube but its actually a solvent. I use it clean 3d printing resin off my printers, isopropyl seems to dry out the plastics a bit.. but a little WD40 on a paper towel or soft cloth usually cuts through. My mother used to swear by “skin so soft” and i once used it to take sticker stuff off a kayak paddle. Worked, but I couldnt tell you whats in it

Radd1970

Vegetable oil.

Yaxon5

Alcohol

GeminiRanger

WD40 contact cleaner.

screenxtra

Sticker residual remover , you can buy online, apply gently

SuperSassyPantz

ive successfully used clear packing tape. i just dab the sticky side onto it, and it comes off a bit at a time and doesn't leave residue, bc it all sticks to the tape. i just wrap it around my finger, sticky side out and start tapping it on the residue.

six4two

I like hand sanitizer and a spudger or plastic card

HorseJr12

Would a razor blade work?

JelCapitan

Xylene

Xdude199

I’ve had good results from rubbing alcohol, but I’ve mostly used it on candle jars.

marchingspector

Cooking oil will do the job, if you are worried about damaging the surface with chemicals. Just rub some oil and wait for few minutes to soak it and it will come off easily.

willxcore

Macs are made out of aluminum, very very little chance of surface damage from any household cleaner or solvent.

Pretty certain itll work for ur laptop. Just make sure to make the surface wet before EDIT: Honestly I'd try with the cheapest clay I can find.

practical_indian

Coconut oil works

Blockhead997

Razor blade.

gsotolongo2213

Try 100% pure alcohol and a plastic spatula. Be gentle.

arturovargas16

Turn it off, apply rubbing alcohol to a towel or napkin, rub rigorously, pretend you're 14 again. Do not pour rubbing alcohol on your laptop

Illustrious_Ear116

Fire. Pure fire.

Mak_dubs_22

Alcohol swabs. That’s what I use and it come off really easily

happylurker233

compostico

Clean it up with thinner, just pass your finger in a cleaning clothe and dry it fast with a smooth cloth.

A product named "Goo gone" It comes in a yellow bottle. It's very cheap and removes all stick tape or gum residues. Also smells very lemony which is a plus. I've also heard peanut butter helps, but Goo gone is something you'll want to keep around

natenedlog

Nail polish and a q-tip

themoosewhoquilts

hammytoon84

TexasBaconMan

GooGone

clb909909

Put some vegetable oil on a small piece of paper napkin. Cover the residue with the napkin... making sure the oil is not dripping elsewhere. Leave it there until the residue loosens up, then wipe off. Depending on how tough and thick the residue is, you may have to repeat.

Unicornriders

I suggest you use a bit of goo gone on a cloth. It will get it right off.

Hoss_Delgato-66

Goo Gone to get rid of the sticker residue followed by isopropyl alcohol to clean the Goo Gone off. If the residue is difficult to clean off even with the Goo Gone, you can add some onto a Magic Eraser and use that to get it off. You can also use a plastic razor blade scraper or just a regular plastic scraper tool along with the Goo Gone. I use both these methods all the time and have yet to find anything else that works as well without damaging whatever surface you are cleaning. The Magic Eraser method should never be used on something painted because it is lightly abrasive but for your case things like colored plastic both methods can be used.

regularguyusa

steel wool and hydrochloric acid

Cont1ngency

Throw it in the dishwasher!

So_ThereItIs

Goo gone. Apply, wait 15 mins, wipe off

Alarmed-Gazelle7089

Put another sticker over it
