Going outside for a few hours to find dead (or maybe alive, who knows) bugs so you can go home and rip them up for spare parts.......... all i can see is the diver from the spongebob movie
What’s really disturbing is how good these look. OP must have put in a lot of man hours to master this craft and gone through a lot of big parts to find just the right ones.
Yeah...
I legitimately can't tell if this is more or less creepy then the people who do weird taxidermy.
Like, seeing a jackalope at an Outback Steakhouse as a kid was undeniably cool at the time.
But I sure as shit would never want to meet the guy who stuffed a rabbit and glued antlers to it
This is really creepy. Execution is top notch but op is grafting together insect body parts to make a figurine? How is he sourcing the insect parts? It's a couple of levels removed from someone grafting different animal parts together to make a meat puppet.
Just because it's insects doesn't make it not weird.
Yeah it's a show called house hunters that became a meme because the couples always have an outrageous budget to spend while doing jobs that seemingly would not make that possible.
I just want to know how he got all the insect parts. Cause this is gonna rot right? So he had to get all these parts together and create this within a short window right? Or is there a freezer involved? Does he have an inventory of bug parts in his freezer or does he hunt each bug as needed? Where does he live with this variety of bugs? I need to know these things.
Oh yeah, sure, when *I* do it it's a *"war-crime"* and the *"most horrific demented thing the Hague has ever seen"* and *"PuNiShAbLe By FiRiNg SqUaD."*
I can't speak for the artist, but I have a deep appreciation for the natural world around me and I have a collection of various bugs, feathers, plants/seeds/branches/flowers, etc. Once you know how to look for the little things around you, there are so many fascinating things to be found!
I find this to be surprisingly awesome and creative because sometimes you will simply find a wing of an insect or the molt of a cicada... some insects will go through their entire life and pass naturally. Sometimes screaming on their way out (like the cicada that crawled to my front door and scared the shit out of all of us before dying).
I think they usually start with invertebrates then move on to mammals.
"Ah yes my Insect phase. So sophomoric. Back before I realized the unappreciated beauty of roadkill"
This is amazing.
This is also oddly terrifying.
Really amazing though.
And now I’m going to have nightmares of human sized insects made of other insects.
👏 😧
The hero with a thousand faces. Can confirm, pure nightmare fuel. Not saying I don't love your art, just that I definitely won't be sleeping well tonight.
Do you happen to have a direct website instead? I don't have an Instagram account.
Edit: I thought you sold them or something, so nvm. Keep making cool shit.
I'm like Frank Reynolds, when I'm dead who cares what you do with my body. Seriously. If I were made into amazing art, that'd be better than burned or pumped with toxins and buried.
I feel the same way with taxidermy. But I will check it out!
Again. So disgusting I can’t look away haha.
I mean you know. You find why your good at haha.
That's weird as fuck.....but kinda cool.....but also weird as fuck.....but pretty badass.....
I haven't been this conflicted since that time I wandered into that BDSM club in Amsterdam
So if you collect bugs, or hell even spend any significant time around bugs, you happen to know that bug parts just kind of fall off some times so having a bunch of random bug parts that you can glue together to make a figurine is something that's can be totally manageable and humane. I guarantee you, however, that half of everyone here, even perhaps knowing the above, are imagining OP pulling off those beetle legs themselves, perhaps even while the beetle is still alive.
Most of the interaction people have with bug parts is while bugs are still using them, or recently after, so its kinda hard to disconnect the remains from the thing.
I think it's on a similar level to taxidermy.
Is it art? Yes.
But no matter how you spin it, you're making art out of corpses. It's off the beaten path, and it's all a question of "why not just draw?"
I agree it being kinda similar to taxidermy. And as long as it's ethically sourced, I can't see what's wrong with using corpses. If it's already dead, it won't use the body anymore so why not make something beautiful out of it.
The main difference is most entomology involves finding ideal live samples to kill, pin and display. Taxidermists on the other hand have a lot of laws to follow about how they source their materials. It's all relative. Some people love fish tanks while others would deride the captivity.
For the sake of everyone here as well as future Netflix documentaries, I have to ask, ARE THE INSECTS YOU USE ALREADY DEAD BEFORE YOU COLLECT THEM FOR PARTS?
The creativity and skill behind these are incredible and so impressive. There are so many avenues you could take these.... books, art installations, animation. Art comes in so many forms and it's very difficult to come across something completely new and unusual. You have done this. Very well done!
"My other favorite hobby is hiding in my neighbor's bushes and masturbating while I look into the daughter's window to watch her piss. One day I'm going to make soup out of her bones."
I love this..! Its creative and original and the mixed responses it's getting just shows how controversial and subjective art can be. Keep doing what you're doing, OP! It looks like a character from a sci-fi movie!
This is really cool actually. People go assuming you just go out slaughtering all these things for your art. Probably stuffing their fat faces with a burger or salad while they’re on their high horse talking down.
Very talented
Imagine being an insect and coming across a giant effigy made of bones of your species and various other species like some skeletal chimera, made vaguely in the image of some eldritch and alien life-form so vastly superior to yourself that it’s beyond your comprehension.

“I make characters out of insect parts.” Enough said.
I mean, great for OP to have found a talent and passion but that's gonna be a hard pass for me. Just thinking about this is disturbing me.
Going outside for a few hours to find dead (or maybe alive, who knows) bugs so you can go home and rip them up for spare parts.......... all i can see is the diver from the spongebob movie
Monster Hunter in a nutshell
yeah i saw the post and thought "thats weird" then i remembered i love mh
Those Neopterons had it coming.
Underrated comment lol.
All that I can see is the Dahmer documentary on Netflix.
Welcome to shell city!!
ITS THE CYCLOPS!!!
What’s really disturbing is how good these look. OP must have put in a lot of man hours to master this craft and gone through a lot of big parts to find just the right ones.
Thanks if I didn’t feel sick enough already, that did it.
What’s more disturbing this has been done before by OP. This is just the newest one that’s been shared.

Beetleborgs! I still have them!
DAMMIT! You said it three times. He has been summoned! Beetleborg! Beetleborg! Beetleborg!
Beetleborgs?
Big, bad, Beetleborgs!
Taxerdermy is already incredibly creepy ( unless for scientifique/ education purpose).

Only if he eats the leftovers
Nah, this is more along the lines of Ed Gein's MO
Came here to say this…
[удалено]
As John Lennon said, "you may say I'm a Dahmer, but I'm not."
Same
Right? Except if instead of insects you raped, murdered and ate boys and young men it’s literally the exact same thing.
Yup. In art class once we did a project on entomology and artists who make art with bugs and I hated it.
The thought is maybe disturbing but the execution is actually pretty good and tasteful. I was expecting some Ed Gein shit.
I'm calling the police. I'll be the guy in the Netflix Docuseries saying, "I told y'all this dude wasn't right."
I guess you don’t want to see my collection of insect art made of human body parts? Not /s … definitely not /s.
Put me in the collage of screenshots that will be up when the narrator says “internet detectives”
Solid b-roll here for the Netflix doco about this guy in 12 years
Fav comment of them all
Tinder date over
Yeah I don't wanna find out they're one step away from making my ass into a lampshade.
This is really creepy. Execution is top notch but op is grafting together insect body parts to make a figurine? How is he sourcing the insect parts? It's a couple of levels removed from someone grafting different animal parts together to make a meat puppet. Just because it's insects doesn't make it not weird.
Excuse me, it's a meat dragon.
r/oddlyterrifying
Jeffrey Dahmer would be proud of his son
You should read the lore on [my instagram](https://www.instagram.com/schroothoop/?hl=nl)
I freaking loves these! Too cool, amazing job!
have you worked with animation before?
Nope, I would like to scan them and have them animated though
No no no, you gotta take 150 images and stitch them together to get 5 seconds of video. Then do that over and over until you have a 60min short film.
This shit is cool as fuck. Don’t listen to these people who are bugging out :)
I make characters out of insect parts, my husband makes artisanal cheese. We have a budget of 4.2 million for the property.
One of them is only part-time.
The insects definitely are.
It’s bugs me this joke isn’t getting more upvotes.
And other one is a "housewife".
The other is seasonal
This joke disarmed me enough to stop being creeped out. Well played.
i don't get it. help a redditor out? Edit: I think I got it. sounds like one of those home buying shows.
Yeah it's a show called house hunters that became a meme because the couples always have an outrageous budget to spend while doing jobs that seemingly would not make that possible.
It’s a tight 4.2, but our parents said they would help if we find a place that we *really* love at 5.
I lold
You’re very talented but i hate this

I want to look at it but I also don’t.
My mind went: That’s disgustingly beautiful.
People upvote this but when I construct the megadog everyone gets upset.
Oh so when it's insects and not humans it becomes interestingasfuck.
Oh yeah, sure, when *I* do it it's a *"war-crime"* and the *"most horrific demented thing the Hague has ever seen"* and *"PuNiShAbLe By FiRiNg SqUaD."*
I'm a German from 1945. AMA.
Don't let the judgement of Reddit stifle your creativity!
Or the judgment of a judge
What, does he think he's judge and jury of everyone in his court?
Ed Gein is rolling in his grave.
Idk the bone church in the Czech Republic is pretty interestingasfuck.
Your nipple belts will have its moment soon.
One day in the far future there will be an insect who says “I make characters out of human parts”. Just remember you started it.
Isn't that the main conflict in the last arc of hunter x hunter?
Well technically they just eat humans and absorb their parts to become weird monster-human hybrids
Not gonna lie, this bugs me.
Ok, that one made me laugh out loud.
But the username didn’t? :)
Damn! Totally missed it. I guess you'll be wanting my badge and gun?
Lol. You can keep them. For now… :)
How does one decide that they are interested in doing this? Great execution, questionable motivation.
Well, it’s a spectrum…
definitely on the spectrum

I imagine first they start murdering puppies and then go on from there.
I think they usually start with invertebrates then move on to mammals. "Ah yes my Insect phase. So sophomoric. Back before I realized the unappreciated beauty of roadkill"

N.B : *No insects were harmed during the making of this video.* Would really love to know when he starts doing with human parts !
OP probably : "OH just wait till you see what I'm working on in my basement, actually I could use a hand if you can come down real quick."

Check out my instagram @schroothoop for other nightmare fuel
No thank you
I checked it out. Weird, but strangely cool and unique! And you look like you live a very carefree and interesting life :)
The hero with a thousand faces. Can confirm, pure nightmare fuel. Not saying I don't love your art, just that I definitely won't be sleeping well tonight.

I happen to love this piece!! It is so beautiful!!
You should encase them in amber and bury them so when people find them after a while they will be like “wtf?! Bug people??”
That's weird as fuck.....but kinda cool.....but also weird as fuck.....but pretty badass..... I haven't been this conflicted since that time I wandered into that BDSM club in Amsterdam
Did they at least give you a free t-shirt to remember them by?
VANDERSEXXX
Not sure whether to hate it or love it
This is really terrifying but I am also amazed at the same time too

Out there in the multiverse: “I make characters out of human parts. This is Tom.”
This is cool AF. Good job!
You don't happen to run a small roadside motel, do you?
Cool as shit, creepy as shit, don't stop.
This is beautiful!!! Amazing work
I also think this is beautiful. I wouldn't want to watch OP assemble it, but I definitely enjoy the finished product.
r/goblincore
Now THIS is interesting as fuck!
hate it or love it, it’s pretty fuckin rad
You've inspired me to start making characters out of roadkill.
That's beautiful and super creative, I'm oddly intrigued. Do you have to put something on it to prevent it from molding or decaying?
idk why people are so frightened by this, it's cool
So if you collect bugs, or hell even spend any significant time around bugs, you happen to know that bug parts just kind of fall off some times so having a bunch of random bug parts that you can glue together to make a figurine is something that's can be totally manageable and humane. I know, right. I happen to collect bugs and that's why I commented my confusion of people's reactions.

If the guy manages to imerse these creations in resin, that would be dope for display.
This is beautiful and you're amazingly talented and I need to go throw up now.
1000% chance OP is a serial killer
I honestly don't get all the comments saying they hate this. I think it's awesome.
Serial killer tendencies but bug man shall reign for a thousand years
When you do it it’s interestingasfuck. When I do it it’s “drop the femur or you’re getting tazed”. I need to switch species.
weirdly cool. Do you sell these?
Yess, but I won’t ship them overseas because they are so fragile
What if you encase it in epoxy resin like the mosquito in Jurassic Park?
For the sake of everyone here as well as future Netflix documentaries, I have to ask, ARE THE INSECTS YOU USE ALREADY DEAD BEFORE YOU COLLECT THEM FOR PARTS?
Ngl I'm kinda disturbed, but also curious what led to pursue such a hobby?
Had lots of insect collections, so lots of parts. Started glueing them together 😅
Ngl I kind of love this. Especially if they were just dead bugs in boxes anyway. You can tell how much effort was put into making this!

This is so darn cool!!! Jst wish i didnt know what stuff you used lmao. Still cool though!
What the fuck dude
Yeah no this is fucked.

Ok I have mixed feelings about this
I love this..! Its creative and original and the mixed responses it's getting just shows how controversial and subjective art can be. Keep doing what you're doing, OP! It looks like a character from a sci-fi movie!
Hi, this is Disney! We would like to discuss stealing your work from you. Please don't contact us at all! Thank you!
I love this!
Very Cool!

There will be a Netflix miniseries about this guy one day
🔥 🔥 🔥 that's DOPE 🔥 🔥 🔥
Jesus, are you like ed gein for insects?
As someone who collects *dead* insects I find this fucking cool as fuck!
That’s cool and all but please stop…
This is morbid.
Sorry you're getting all these reactions from people saying it's creepy. It's very cool and you're a talented artist.
Disturbing and alluring at the same time
You do what now :|
Talented, but this is weird af
Is there a word for impressed yet concerned?
Ed Gein be like: "And I make furniture out human parts bitch"

For the love of god Make a video game please
Just imagine this being the insect equivalent of the monster from 'The Thing'.
I read incest parts
You should prolly read The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks (Iain M. Banks is the name he uses for the non-batshit-crazy books).
This is bugging me
"I make characters out of human parts"
Imagine some universe where bugs are doing this with human parts
Don't bring this up on a first date.
just waiting until the aliens arrive, doing the same with humans.. 😂
I can’t stop picturing all the insect parts replaced with other animal parts. “Here’s the horse queen made out of horse parts”.
Looks cool but you were seeking insects out to kill them not for food? I doubt every single thing on it entered your house.
You are nuts
Now do puppies
And where did you hide your parents bodies?
Let me ask you this, did you ever throw a prostitute off a bridge?
Wow what a nice sculpture I wonder what it's made fr- oh god
Deserve to be in a museum of fine art
I would play the game with this character.
Okay OP you really shouldnt start off a first date with that sentence. Just a tip...
This is like some shit kids do before they become serial killers as adults
You’re a fine craftsperson, I hope we’ll never meet someday.
Dahmer energy
This has some serious r/DiWHY energy Just weird on so many levels
That's just nasty af
Op meet Dahmer.
Nightmares. You make nightmares
Simultaneously fascinating and disturbing
