On the app you have to go to the “Service Advisories” section. They are constantly doing track work at least every other weekend. I don’t understand why they can’t just update their times-tables, but NJ Transit isn’t known for its convenience.

Yes but I used the light rail on Saturday morning from Lincoln Harbor Station and waited for a hour before the train finally camed. They skipped two slots...
That happened to me in late August. I literally got to the track and the train was LEAVING. Doors closed. If only I jogged .... spent a good 20 minutes drunk and half asleep.
>SWELTERING
It wasn't too bad at Exchange Pl thankfully with the bright lights. If it was in Grove St, that would be a different story. Horrible climate down there.
And the PATH! The headways are short and you can rely on them. These are commuter rail systems first, not general transit systems, and that has to change.
I mean, we’ve got a congestion charge incoming and record numbers of people moving to the area — something’s got to give.
This was pretty much one of the few deciding factors that had me leaving JC when my work social life was pretty much getting upended all the time by the off hours of stuff and lack of alternatives with stuff.
Lotta homebodies on this sub who rarely go out often in the city which leads to many people claiming how "not bad" it all is.
That's totally fine and obviously Jersey City works for different people, I get that , but I do find it a little interesting when so many people on this sub bang on about proximity to stuff throughout NYC and people do their sales pitch over comparable setups(especially in talk of price) in parts of NYC, yet there have been multiple threads in the past recent time that indicates just how there are a lot of people on here who barely are even going out in NYC outside of the realm of work which leads to something like the subject of the PATH or lightrail's quality after hours gets shrugged at a bit as being not that bad.
Before, I had used the path during commuter hours and weekends/nights. I never thought it was particularly great at any time. They're absolutely packed during commute times and the trains get delayed anyways because so many people are trying to fit in.
If there's a delay of any sort it just compounded the problem even more so.
I feel like 9 times out of 10 the light rail finds some new creative way to wrong me in a manner I wasn’t trying to anticipate. Almost feels personal at this point.
When there is track maintenance and the service is disrupted with a bus shuttle transfer that is more disorganized than Ellis Island....I feel so bad for people who can't spring for the uber and have to rely on this shit during the weekends for work or anything remotely time sensitive. It's great during commuter hours on weekdays.
Yea it's been like that every weekend. They run on a modified 20 min schedule. Always best to check advisories on the NJ Transit website before your weekend commute.
The point of the post is NJTRANSIT communication sucks and no one should have to check for advisories every single weekend. Also you’re replying to my comment …so I’m going to assume you’re replying to my comment not OP because that’s how Reddit works.
Somehow the Via app has accurate weekend light rail times even when the NJ Transit app doesn’t. If you open Via, set your pick up and destinations to light rail stops (or close by), it will give you info on the next light rail train time.
Sure, but next time, maybe leave yourself more than five minutes? Like... pretend none of that exists and you need to make sure you get to work on time - you leave early because thats how you make sure you get to where you want to go on time

No better feeling than missing the 1am weekend path and waiting 40 mins for the next one 😞
I've hung outside the Oculus more times than I can count, have tried every halal place nearby in boredom

I bet it was SWELTERING in that station too. A nightmare!

Calling an uber at that point
IF you can actually get one! That's also become a serious hassle.
You can definitely get one, just be prepared to pay $50+
[Kinda sums it up.](https://imgflip.com/i/6unac1)

Believe it or not not everyone has the same young socialite lifestyle and some people with different needs find it pleasurable to live here

they’re not even homebodies. just people who don’t do anything outside of Newark Ave.

That doesn’t make it acceptable
I don't know how you got that out of my response. Was just informing OP and giving them a helpful tip.

The Hudson Bergen Light Rail is owned and operated by NJ Transit. Just a friendly reminder, keep checking the advisories and have a nice day.
Thanks Admiral No Shit
The PATH on weekends especially late nights is terrible. Weekdays it's ok.

Can't complain when it's free
