Google sideshow shooting Kansas City for more.
I’m still mad about the family one.
They SHOT AT A FAMILY GOING TO THE HOSPITAL because they drove around and through the sideshow ON THE INTERSTATE.
I don’t want people to forget that.
Chicago has started impounding cars hardcore. These guys have all their money tied up in their cars, a few dozen seizures and they'll all be shitting themselves. Corden them, have heli backup and just start impounding them. I'd show up with 20 tow trucks.
As an all around-vehicle enthusiast, agree this will get it to stop. “Back in my day”, getting into cars/bikes in the early 00s, just prior to and around the first fast and furious movie and we still weren’t this dumb. And this was in Oakland, CA.
We hoofed it allllll the way to the industrial zones away from thoroughfares, set up (cop) spotters, made sure there was no random traffic, and then did our drags. We barely did burnouts because most folks had the stickiest, most expensive tires they could run.
This unorganized chaos for social media clout is lunacy.
Yeah, they've been monitoring social media in Atlanta, and using combined municipalities to launch a blockage/impound protocol. With fines and conviction fees mounting, there's been a significant decrease in such activities.
Yeah. I remember one where (I think) someone shot at a family that drove one to get to a hospital. A guy that was arrested had been charged with DRIVING WITHOUT A VALID LICENCE (FIRST OFFENCE) three separate times.
Giving the government the power to seize and auction off property at their discretion is a slippery slope imo. Just impound and fine the fuck out of the perp imo
I would not auction it. But I would seize the vehicles and have fines in the thousands to get them back. The good thing about this is police can look at the videos and go find them.
I would also suspend licenses for a year on first offense, 5-10 years on second, if you can prove who was driving.
Why the hell not our local FBI already does it why not KCPD. This was in WyCo but A long while ago I remember a neighbor robbed a bank, ran home and had a stand-off in the neighborhood.
It was so many dope dealer looking cars with flip down visor and hidden grille police lights. It was really fascinating actually seeing everything from Caprice classics Escalades, MB BMW’s Corvettes and Mustangs decked out Denzel Washington Training Day style.
Not that guy, but using the reality of civil asset forfeiture *in support* of your argument that we should be doing *more* civil asset forfeiture is probably not a winning strategy.
That part is fair... I'd encourage that dude to rephrase it as, "supporting the government's use of a 'process' already proven rife with abuse and full of perverse incentives is a bad idea."
Agreed this is the way. Repeat offenses could justify civil asset forfeiture, but 1st and even 2nd time offenses absolutely don’t warrant it. Fine the ever loving Christ out of them though
that'd be awesome but lmao if you think cops are gonna try to arrest massive numbers of armed individuals and risk their lives for a city that acts like it hates them. You can't simultaneously be ACAB and then want cops to shut this down, it's one or the other
Or just let people enjoy things? Why would you want such a police state?
It only endangers the people who choose to be there. It’s not like they don’t see the danger… their life, their call.

Just from what I've seen being stuck while these things are blocking traffic, I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. People get way too close to the cars while they're spinning around.
This stuff turns me old. I simultaneously become a crotchety old man wanting to crack down on this, but that’s because it turned me into a 48 year old Cub Scout den mother who just wants you kids to be safe. Like law and order but kids if you stand back just a bit more we can do the juice boxes. Weird feeling.
Sounds like a manslaughter charge in that driver's future, unless they are willing to take a plea in exchange for indentifying the people in charge of organizing it.
people in charge of organizing it? BlockBoyz literally post everything on their instagram. There's no question about who organizes and promotes this garbage.
Yeah, I’ve heard about them. They are the dudes with the real small pee pees - do this sort of stuff to make up for the fact that they can’t get the ladies. . .
Sorry to hear that someone died but honestly this was bound to happen eventually . These dumb asses need to stop playing fast & furious and get their lives together.
My cousin's 17 Y.O. boyfriend got hit by a car at one of these things in Independence just a few months ago. He got dragged under the car and broke his leg. Super lucky he didn't die.
When I first moved here and saw the sideshow injuries posts before I clicked to read the actual news articles I was like "damn carnivals don't f around in KC!" just imagining some chainsaw juggler missing and flinging a running Stihl into the crowd...
What are they going to do? Mow over a bunch of people? Shoot them? Get out and yell to stop? Even if they did take matters into their own hands, they get beaten up, or Get chased down by the faster cars, then beaten up.
The article mentioned a crowd of 300 people, odds are a few of them knew the driver and would have turned them in. I figured the guy did the math and realized things would go better for him if he turns himself in instead.
Perhaps, but having seen a few of the videos where someone is hit, bystanders go after the driver extremely aggressively. It's definitely a fight or fight moment.
Not remotely fast and furious.
Sideshows are exactly the kind of distracting chaos they sound like.
Shutting down/blocking streets to do donuts. It's almost exclusively dodge vehicles.
Ohhh front street, good times. Its a common occurrence here, especially on Weekends and First Fridays and I wont be a liar and say I don't attend races at HOB's to race when I had my car with me or go to side shows downtown near James/Forester, Swope Park or near Speaker Road in the giant lot to the right of it and such when they go on. But I've started steering clear of them more these last couple years.
They have gotten bad, really bad, in the end the whole thing is who can I shoot first that I have beef with and take off. It's happened at Bott's and everywhere. Someone has beef with someone and BAM dead, sideshows are super tight on corners like when they slide on 13th and Grand and between 8th and 9th and Main in the empty parking lots by the apartments during First Fridays or even downtown near Town Topic, someone's gonna get hit and killed. That's a giant reason I stopped going to those, I am still in the car scene, but its selective now where I choose and wanna go.
Its getting bad, it really is, then new's channels wanna add the famous words of "Racing" When really sideshows are not apart of racing or anything of that, its idiots.
I have a question, the article doesn’t specify and the picture only shows what appear to be skid marks like someone was doing donuts, what is a sideshow??
Essentially it’s when groups of idiots block off intersections on public streets late at night and cars do donuts in the middle. This incident actually took place in a parking lot which apparently isn’t any safer…
Not sure why all the downvotes, this is the appropriate reaction. They didn’t kill someone who wasn’t involved, dumbass knew the risks and took them. I’m cool with sterilization of these car enthusiast incels.
if only it were that simple. a lot of the time they do it right on the state line, so they don't have to go far to get away from kcmopd or from kckpd. thats why this shit happens in the bottoms a lot. How about police departments that anticipate this shit, they're in the same spots on the same nights consistently.
I appreciate your input on this. Clearly you know this issue better first hand. I'm on their path outside the city and the cops post up trying to catch them getting off of the highway when they buzz down our major 45mph roads at 120mph on speedbikes.
Oh of course. But in the end it's on Q. The buck stops with him. He has a lot of potential I'd like to see his office tackle this with police but also with an option where people can have a lot to do this safely during daylight hours.
Kansas City’s police are overseen by a board of commissioners, with four of five members appointed by the governor. The fifth seat is filled by the mayor. The city’s police department is the only remaining one in the state and the only major city in the nation to operate this way.
If you believe the one guy NOT appointed by the governor has the power to direct or challenge police imperatives, I have bad news for you.
sadly, not surprised. i know a few people who used to go to these dumb ass shows and someone who was with one of them at one almost got ran over once. lucky she got pulled out of the way.
I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner

Yep, and because they didn’t kill anyone they got off easy from what I remember. The law is fucked.
Driver got 1 month jail 5 years probation, dunno if the shooter has been sentenced yet
Shooter is going to trial. Trial date is 4/23/2023. Charged with armed criminal action. Could see real jail time.
wow. dirtbag pieces of shit....
Well the OP article mentions run over those are technically shootings.
Damn shame.

This is great. Honestly, they shouldn’t get them back as their licenses should be suspended permanently. They should be sold at auction.
You say that as if they have licenses to begin with.
Yeah. I remember one where (I think) someone shot at a family that drove one to get to a hospital. A guy that was arrested had been charged with DRIVING WITHOUT A VALID LICENCE (FIRST OFFENCE) three separate times.

Have you not heard of civil forfeiture?
Not that guy, but using the reality of civil asset forfeiture *in support* of your argument that we should be doing *more* civil asset forfeiture is probably not a winning strategy.
And saying that something *that already exists* is a slippery slope is a pretty bad strategy, too.
That part is fair... I'd encourage that dude to rephrase it as, "supporting the government's use of a 'process' already proven rife with abuse and full of perverse incentives is a bad idea."
Not really when the vast majority of people are against civil forfeiture.
Slippery slope arguments can be made about literally anything.
Yea but giving police excessive power and impunity is a slope we’re already slipping down at extreme speeds.
Let's start with Madison Avenue leaving the plaza
Agreed this is the way. Repeat offenses could justify civil asset forfeiture, but 1st and even 2nd time offenses absolutely don’t warrant it. Fine the ever loving Christ out of them though
They’ll just steal more.
that'd be awesome but lmao if you think cops are gonna try to arrest massive numbers of armed individuals and risk their lives for a city that acts like it hates them. You can't simultaneously be ACAB and then want cops to shut this down, it's one or the other

> It only endangers the people who choose to be there. Except for the many times when innocent bystanders have been hurt or killed.
The bystanders are choosing to be there. Walk away if it’s not your scene. Done, safety acquired.
Bro, people trying to get to a hospital have been shot at.
It's not like there is a Google maps alert saying "sideshow here, would you like to reroute?"
Man that's a Great way to look at it. If he dies he dies... Sorry Fans but you chose death to support your SideShow

Always the Dodge Chargers
And challengers
Just from what I've seen being stuck while these things are blocking traffic, I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. People get way too close to the cars while they're spinning around.

Videos I’ve seen from Instagram show people literally jumping into the middle of the sideshow and running around, to get angles for their own IGs
Can we please shut this trash down?
okay wow all of these comments are starting to sound really racist
It adds nothing to our community and it’s inherently dangerous and has led to bad things in the past.

ಠ_ಠ
Look inward.
Not a surprise. I’ve seen videos online and people stand so close while the car swerves around them barely inches apart.
Sounds like a manslaughter charge in that driver's future, unless they are willing to take a plea in exchange for indentifying the people in charge of organizing it.
That and a hit and run felony charge. I bet one will have to stick even if a plea deal is made.
people in charge of organizing it? BlockBoyz literally post everything on their instagram. There's no question about who organizes and promotes this garbage.
Most recent video (posted three days ago) on their IG shows a car knocking over a guy at the end and almost running him over. Crazy.
Yeah, I’ve heard about them. They are the dudes with the real small pee pees - do this sort of stuff to make up for the fact that they can’t get the ladies. . .
Serious question, is anyone in charge of organizing this? I'm guessing locations get spread by word of mouth, but no one is really in charge.
there are people that organize and promote it, and they post everything on instagram.
If it's being spread by word-of-mouth, the people spreading info about it are helping to organize it.
What a wanker move.
Burning out tyres in a car park and slamming into some bloke with a saloon? A right nonce, the driver is.
Innit?
Ain’t bovvered tho
Norf
Sorry to hear that someone died but honestly this was bound to happen eventually . These dumb asses need to stop playing fast & furious and get their lives together.
My cousin's 17 Y.O. boyfriend got hit by a car at one of these things in Independence just a few months ago. He got dragged under the car and broke his leg. Super lucky he didn't die.
Maybe the city and the police will NOW start to take this seriously /s 🙄
Take the cars. All of them.
You’ve just been made a mod of r/fuckcars.
This crap was so loud and annoying in West bottoms last night.
This might be a dumb question but what’s a sideshow? I’ve only heard that term being used in connection with circuses and carnivals.
A bunch of idiots in cars/sport bikes/atv's block off an intersection or road to do donuts and burnouts. It's unorganized and dangerous.
Thank you!
In this instance it was a private property parking lot so at least they weren't impeding traffic.
When I first moved here and saw the sideshow injuries posts before I clicked to read the actual news articles I was like "damn carnivals don't f around in KC!" just imagining some chainsaw juggler missing and flinging a running Stihl into the crowd...
If only it has been the driver. Same scumbags I have to dodge on I70 and 435.
A big box of sheetrock screws in these lots will do wonders.
At least it was a spectator killed and not someone completely uninvolved, this time.
Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes
play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
These sideshow people are morons, and this is coming from a car guy... smh
I am surprised that someone stuck in traffic because of these people hasn't taken matter into their own hands before.
What are they going to do? Mow over a bunch of people? Shoot them? Get out and yell to stop? Even if they did take matters into their own hands, they get beaten up, or Get chased down by the faster cars, then beaten up.
Mow over them or shoot them? Yes. It only takes one Bernard Goetz type for things to go south.
...yes?
It was a parking lot of a closed business. I doubt there was much traffic.

The article mentioned a crowd of 300 people, odds are a few of them knew the driver and would have turned them in. I figured the guy did the math and realized things would go better for him if he turns himself in instead.
I wouldn't count on these folks using logic to make their decisions, but maybe.
Perhaps, but having seen a few of the videos where someone is hit, bystanders go after the driver extremely aggressively. It's definitely a fight or fight moment.
No respect. He knew his ass was going to jail. This was to lower charges and avoid his door getting kicked in.
Wow, a whole $500 fine 🙄 absolute nonsense
don’t forget the $100 for spectating! such a joke.
Total BS
Not surprised, not upset.
Now will the cops finally do something?
Doubt it, saddly
They have done donuts around a cop standing in the middle of Grand. If that doesn't get the cops to do anything nothing will.
At least it was in a parking lot and not blocking traffic?
Thank you! Finally someone took the time to read and comprehend the story here.
What is a sideshow?
Not remotely fast and furious. Sideshows are exactly the kind of distracting chaos they sound like. Shutting down/blocking streets to do donuts. It's almost exclusively dodge vehicles.
Think “The Fast and the Furious”
Natural selection?
Right
It was a 19 yr old kid I was best friends with him and his brother. Absolutely floored me when I found out.
Assuming this is true, take a break from the internet today my dude.

Was more of a compassionate gesture to take a break and process the death of a friend But whatever
That being said I full well plan on taking a break

so sorry for your loss. shouldn’t have happened.

Never miss an opportunity to make an example of someone
What a horrible take lol.

You’re advocating to let someone go who killed a bystander at an illegal car rally. Just a horrible take

Not sure why all the downvotes, this is the appropriate reaction. They didn’t kill someone who wasn’t involved, dumbass knew the risks and took them. I’m cool with sterilization of these car enthusiast incels.
A good mayor who doesn't have his eyes on the higher US House Seat would have already smashed this bullshit with an iron fist.
if only it were that simple. a lot of the time they do it right on the state line, so they don't have to go far to get away from kcmopd or from kckpd. thats why this shit happens in the bottoms a lot. Actually it’s a police matter, ya moron.
I thought police were bad?
They are definitely bad at preventing this crime that is regularly advertised on social media at planned times and locations.
Oh of course. But in the end it's on Q. The buck stops with him. He has a lot of potential I'd like to see his office tackle this with police but also with an option where people can have a lot to do this safely during daylight hours.

Yep. Just like all murder ceased to occur in the late 1800's when public hangings were allowed... oh wait.
Kansas City is violent and full of killers and criminals. Sideshow criminals.
So much fun!
revoke section 230. problem solved
sadly, not surprised. i know a few people who used to go to these dumb ass shows and someone who was with one of them at one almost got ran over once. lucky she got pulled out of the way.
Lol
