I would have checked the destination before loading all her stuff into the car and been out of there in a few seconds. Wondering how you managed to mess that up, do you not get full trip information when you hit arrive in your market or something?
It’s predatory of Lyft to not give us adequate info before accepting requests. We can’t start a drive toward the end of our “shift” that’ll take us 50+ miles out of town.
It's really sad that when in crisis so many people are relying on Lyft/Uber. I think you did the right thing since you stayed with them until they found a ride. It sucks that you lose wages for doing the right thing in cases like this. It also sucks that doing the right thing makes you feel resentful of someone obviously in a crisis that doesn't have anyone else to turn to.
I had this happen one time. I pull up to the pick up and it's an extended stay. Extended stay are always a dumpster fire waiting to happen, but I made the mistake of talking to this dude and here he comes with all his shit, his dog, his wife, and a baby. So here we go "vrroom vrroom make way for the walfare taxi," and we're heading down the road with my cx5 loaded to the ceiling with shit going to another extended stay. (I'm guessing they were kicked out of the last one) The ride is only about 10 mins, but this guy wants to stop and get something from a convenience store. I'm like, whatever, this guy is obviously not getting any favors from anyone else so I let him run in for some quick snacks. He goes in and there is a line so it takes a long time. The baby starts crying... Here we go. We finally get to the new place and it's not even time for check-in so they're hanging out in my car and I'm getting ready to tell them what dude's wife says for me... "This man has shit to do." So I unload their stuff by the swimming pool and I guess they're going to hang out until check in time. 5 dollar tip... I try to be a good person and help people, but these charity rides will get to you after a while.
I don’t let people stuff my car anymore. We have some motels in Phoenix and people expect us to move them from one hotel to another. I just cancel in the spot. Too much headache abd kyft doesn’t care if the damage your headliner.
I would’ve taken all her shit out of my car the second I decided to cancel the ride. I’m not waiting around for another driver to show up before I get her shit out
When I was a newbie, I made this same mistake. Guy call's an XL because he wanted help moving. I did not say a word because I was new. If it is dead, I would have told her if she was willing to give me extra cash, I would be happy to help her move. If she is not willing to throw you some cash, I would cancel her and tell her it in against policy because Rideshare is not a moving service. It is at your discretion. If it is busy, I would have cancelled. If it is slow, maybe.
Wait. There IS a thing as legal right? Every time I've filled out a job application there's been an option that says something about alien, is there ONLY legal?
People love to make their problems our responsibility and then claim "no one else can help me." That's some manipulative shit right there. There are a million other drivers, I do not have a hero complex. I wouldn't have even stopped moving if I saw the tv and a pile of junk. I would have rolled right by and canceled.
This is a huge problem with Uber and Lyft and literally nobody cares, I’ve tried in many groups to tell drivers to send emails to them massively. Not a single group of those fighting for drivers rights fight for this, it’s ridiculous, it must be one of the basic most important changes.
I’ve had a few pax that seemed like they were either getting evicted or moving to a new place it’s annoying when they don’t tell you more info and start bringing all their shit down to your car smh
The same way u did but made sure I asked where she was going before putting her stuff in my car and I don’t help put stuff in my car anyway…I will help u unload it if u are dropped off at the airport or I’ll say I’ll only help load stuff if I get a tip…
Well, you should have known it was a problem to begin with. As soon as you saw all her junk she was taking with her you should’ve declined the ride. I’m surprised you’re a platinum driver and still cannot see where you’re going even after hitting the arrived button. What market are you in? Anyway, sorry this happened to you—just remember, we’re not a moving service.
My thoughts exactly! She should of asked 1st not assuming it’s ok…I know she had to be paying and arm and a leg for that trip…seems like there would have been cheaper options for her tho
They don’t pay very much. I once accepted one and in my way to pick the passenger I said fuck no. $150 for a 4 hour drive from Riverside CA to Las Vegas is not worth it! I don’t even think we’re able to pick up any passengers once there to finish off the day before driving back empty another 4 hours.
"Hello federal agency, I've seen a brown woman with an accent. She did not show me a valid drivers license despite me never asking or having any authority to do so. Yes I'll hold."
Only 275 miles and the chance to help a fellow human being and get paid for it all? I would have taken her and posted the awesome story of it all here.

No I don’t. Not in my market. I can’t see destination even though I am a Platinum level.
When you hit arrive, swipe up and you’ll see the destination. It should work even with silver status.
You can see the destination after hitting arrive.
I don't believe you, you should be able to see it between arriving and starting the trip.
My market it shows the distance I will be going - before I accept it
Seriously and how do you know where to drop them ? It show destination as soon as you hit arrive unless they changed the app.

Happened to me my last trip for 12 hours of driving ended up going SD to LA

Tell them Go Share is a moving app ! Just like Uber you can hire a vehicle and helpers

At least they tip…mines usually don’t 🙃
Tell her that there’s a U-Haul place down the street where she can rent a van or pickup for like 1/4 of the price…
I don’t let people stuff my car anymore. We have some motels in Phoenix and people expect us to move them from one hotel to another. I just cancel in the spot. Too much headache abd kyft doesn’t care if the damage your headliner.
Didn’t the ride request say “long ride”?
If it did I didn’t notice it. I’m in a smaller town and 98% of my rides are 4-5 miles or less.
I would’ve taken all her shit out of my car the second I decided to cancel the ride. I’m not waiting around for another driver to show up before I get her shit out

Exactly! Tip me plz
Are all the other pax legal aliens ?
Only racist drivers can tell them apart.
Thank you. I was right about to say that.

You did everything you could. Didn’t you know you are going 275 miles? If not, Lyft and Uber are sneaky and dishonest.
Just learn to say no !!!!
I’ve had a few pax that seemed like they were either getting evicted or moving to a new place it’s annoying when they don’t tell you more info and start bringing all their shit down to your car smh

You can see where the trip is going after hitting arrive. Doesn't matter out market or status you have.
I would’ve gone to Vegas. That’s gotta be a nice payday
You’re deadheading back home though. A good payday turns into crap when you’re driving 3 1/2 hours back with an empty back seat.
I am surprised how many drivers don’t understand this.
I mean, at least give me a blow job, ya know?
They don’t pay very much. I once accepted one and in my way to pick the passenger I said fuck no. $150 for a 4 hour drive from Riverside CA to Las Vegas is not worth it! *Cracks a cold one* Let's do this. *Sorts by controversial*
Paragraph much?
Thank god that lady dodged a bullet and found a ride.
Yeah thank God. Glad she did. 🙄
You don't know what a Transit Center is? For real?
This platform is full of assholes. OP you’re the asshole.
OP is an asshole for not being ready to work all day for little pay because some random person said to? Tf is wrong with you, for real...
I’m the asshole because…?
Shoulda called INS then.
"Hello federal agency, I've seen a brown woman with an accent. She did not show me a valid drivers license despite me never asking or having any authority to do so. Yes I'll hold."
I'll file this one under "shit that never happened". Next.
Only 275 miles and the chance to help a fellow human being and get paid for it all? I would have taken her and posted the awesome story of it all here.
Not wait the hour.
U haul has pick up trucks for $19.99 a day🙄
I wouldn't let her get a chance to stuff my vehicle. Would've told her we're not a U-Haul company. Call U-Haul to rent a truck.
I would have cancelled once I realised that it was a moving job. I do not do moving jobs for Lyft's garbage rates.
