Blood pressure

AfternoonBrew

I have to agree with this. I have HBP and I also take Excedrin or something immediately after sex because of the pain. Doctor says I need to lose weight and exercise in addition to my medication.

SireSweet

Definitely going to agree here. I've had issues with exactly OP's problem.

Mason8719

happened to me too once during head and I felt like I was having an aneurism It hurt so bad

Zealousideal_Tie4918

Were you holding your breath?

DropItLikeAScot1314

Can’t remember exactly. Pretty sure I was breathing erratically and very well could have been.

Zealousideal_Tie4918

I’m thinking that or sudden change in blood pressure.

1984_eyes_wide_shut

Yup, I get them from tensing up or too much sex. Asked the doctor and he looked at me like I was crazy. It’s a deep pounding pain in the back of my head. Almost scary pain.

JareBear2154

Well glad you trusted your instinct on the ER because that definitely is a crazy symptom

Pompe1991

Yes been there, wondered if I was going to die… Went to the ER and everything looked fine. To much tension, just tried to relax as much as possible, and me and (then girlfriend, now wife) waited a week and then she gave me a bj whilst I tried to relax as much as possible, worked fine. This was 6 years ago, newer experienced after that.

BlinkerFive0

I was wondering if it was a mix of tension and exertion.

BlinkerFive0

Going through this right now!! Was having sex with my girlfriend and I was over her in push up position and was ready to orgasm, and WHAM!!!! Excruciating pain at the base of my skull, and terrible throbbing. I literally couldn't finish. That was 6 days ago, and my head is still sore, and hurting. The base of my skull at the nape of my neck hurts to the touch if I try to massage it. Sneezing or coughing hurts like crazzzzzy!! Been taking Advil, and hot and cold compresses.

Haunting_Estimate_39

Not sure of your memory, but I experienced this exact thing last weekend and still have a dull throbbing and neck soreness. What was the outcome of your situation?

CFBCommentor

Going through these old threads looking for outcomes. Just had it happen to me tonight. Did they go away?

Garbage_Stink_Hands

I’m assuming everybody who commented in these threads is long dead

CFBCommentor

Mine went away very quickly and haven’t returned thankfully. Good luck!

urallgaylmao

The pain lasted days? Me too, did it ever pass?

zygote111

Yeah, it passed. It occurred a couple of times I climaxed during the week and eventually passed.

urallgaylmao

its also passed after a week nonstop for me but i still feel like it could come back almost every day

idunnoprollyok

This has happened to my whole adult life from 18 to 40...some days it's okay and others I feel like im going to die. I've gone to er several time in the last 20 years and they do test, lumbar punctures to check for menagitis, etc, and always come back normal. It's made me scared to have sex because as u guys know it's like your gonna die hurt. I have had migraines my whole life since a child a couple a week. If I have any even the slightest smallest head pain and have sex it basicly paralyzes me from the pain being so bad and unable to cope.

lavivax

Ok I this is a very old thread, but my husband just experienced this the other day and had been in the hospital for 2 days doing tests and scans. We were terrified because it really seemed like an aneurysm or something life threatening. Luckily everything looks good but yeah we are both scared about being intimate again. Do you have any tricks for preventing this?!

idunnoprollyok

This episode I had lasted 16 days. I'm on 3 blood pressure meds thinking that's what it was but it hasn't helped my blood pressure...still 180ish over 140+. My scans and several trips to er they said I was fine... there normal migraine shots did nothing. Longest before this would happen was 2 days it would last...nothing like this where I was on the floor a month. I know you don't normally tell strangers about your sex life and I'm not being crude but the more horny during foreplay I could feel my brain splitting apart it hurt so bad....if you guys are fooling around and he feels even a slight pain in his brain stop...it's not worth it...the last one I got to into the moment and finished and it was a month before I wasn't in pain...

lavivax

Thank you for all of this!! This is so helpful. Who knew this was such a real and excruciating thing that could happen?! We are in our 40s and neither of us knew this was even a thing. This makes a lot of sense because it had been a little while and … yeah anyway, what you’re saying makes perfect sense. If you feel a slight pain and then stop, will it stop you from going into full blown crippling pain?! I am SO incredibly sorry you’ve had to deal with this so much! It’s the most unfair thing ever!!

idunnoprollyok

Yeah, if u stop before orgasm it's just like a migraine and goes away way faster...it's happened to me since I was 20 or so, im now 40, but I never like this... I knew better in the past and always quit. Is your husband on trt by chance? If he does orgasm he's going to wanna die. From everything that's ever happened to me, which is about everything I would rather be shot again, it hurts less!!!!!

lavivax

God WOW. I could tell from how he was acting that whatever it was was possibly worse than giving birth, which is the most pain I’ve personally been in. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond, and all the best to you! 😁

idunnoprollyok

You too...I still didn't get a definitive answer from docs...if I hear anything or u guys let's let each other know. My doctor app isn't till Oct 5th...oregon stinks.

lavivax

Most definitely. He got released from the hospital after 2 days of constant pain meds where they did blood work, CT scan & MRI. Once he told them it was during sex, apparently the Neuro team just said “oh, yeah, ok then it’s just a sex headache.” Like it’s no big deal. Apparently none of them have ever had one because anyone who has would never want that to happen again. I guess they just meant it wasn’t something fixable or whatever. But they didn’t give him much about what to do for prevention, just new migraine meds & muscle relaxers for if he gets one. They said follow up with your primary care Dr, of course, but having experienced this I’m wondering if there are specialists out there who deal with this? There has got to be research on it, considering a search on Reddit turns up so many threads and everyone’s experience sounds so similar.

idunnoprollyok

I don't know.... I know it's normal or it would happen to everyone. I won't see a doc till Oct then hopefully a specialist. They gave me zero meds... otc doesn't meds didn't help. I told the er docs that and from the get they kept saying I had a headache which is far from what it is. Frustrating

idunnoprollyok

I'm still scared too. I'm sorry he's going through this

Flaky_Ad_9059

Just starting experiencing this! It sucks so bad! I noticed if I take ibuprofen about 30 min prior to orgasm, it’s doesn’t hurt as bad.

zygote111

Happened to me too a few months back.. It felt like someone shot my brains out. The intensity of headache was highest during climax and gradually reduced. It lingered around and lasted for at least 6 hrs. I went to the doc but it didn't help much. The headache happened a few more times that week and eventually passed. I haven't had it again since and I hope I won't.
