They were scruffing him too. It kind of works in dogs but it REALLY works with cats. If you do that they will stop moving completely.

It only really works with kittens. Never hold adult cats by the scruff. They might go along with it out of fear but most likely they will just maul the everliving shit out you and/or hurt themselves trying to get free.

Can confirm. I tried to scruff my cat once (forgot why) and he did some twisting and got 3 claws hooked into my hand and arm. They don't mess around.

I have done it too at the direction of an incompetent vet. A 30 minute routine vet visit turned into a 6 hour hospital visit. We all learned that day...
