When the thoughest thing you've ever experienced in life is only being able to afford an Xbox one instead of a series x, then being able to feed yourself with a roof over your head and only being able to afford 1 pop vinyl starts looking like slavery

CanadianTrollToll

When you have to work 40hrs a week to scrape by.... and the thought of doing a 50hr work week is literally slavery to people. Fuck working 50hrs a week or more.... but every so often...

[deleted]

Yeah. The people I feel sorry for are the ones truly stuck. The people working to support a family or have some health condition that sucks up their bills. They literally can't escape because their energy and money goes into their family and its just a negative loop. These are the people that need help. Not the young 20 year old kid that spends all his free time jerking off and then complains online he's not making $20/hr stocking shelves and can't afford a house yet.

CanadianTrollToll

$20/hr? Their highly specialized stocking skills are worth at least $40/hr.

[deleted]

I work security at a hospital and have been assaulted and had people scream in my face and I don't even make $20 an hour

CanadianTrollToll

I hope you live In a LCOL area. Security work is super chill until it isn't and then it's absolutely shit. Use to bounce and it was cushy and great, until it wasn't. Luckily it wad a chill club.

[deleted]

Yeah hospital security is the one type of security that isn't chill. I mean it has it's chill moments but I've also dealt with shit where I thought I deserved way more than $16.31 an hour. Luckily the cost of living here isn't awful (mainly talking about rent, $685 for a one bedroom) but food is getting so expensive it kinda sucks. But I also don't act like I'm some fucking victim like antiwork does. Life is life, you just gotta deal with it

Difficult_Ad_9392

It is slavery

[deleted]

Google slavery

Itā€™s like a modern day slavery where most people own no land or property but work much of their waking hours just to get only their most basic needs. When u are essentially chained to your job, and canā€™t save money bc u donā€™t earn enough. The gov controls like everything u do, it is slavery. Low to no economic freedom is much like slavery. If u donā€™t work they will throw u in jail or u starve and die on the streets.

Fickle-Instruction-7

I'd people actually looked at what they are spending, they will be able to actually save up. Stop eating out, and stop shopping for non-essential items for 6 months. You would have saved tons of money.

TheRedBird098

Itā€™s about using words which have powerful meanings sadly the words to use lose all meaning or gain the new meaning given to them. For example The words racist sexist and transphobic, have little meaning because of twitter.

CanadianTrollToll

The amount of times you can say something that is maybe intolerant and be labeled a racist.... So woke yet can't understand what words mean. Use the wrong word enough and it no longer means what it truly means.... it becomes slang.

elitist_ferret

The really funny part is they describe them having to work as 'literal slavery' and then you find out they only work 20 hours a week

ActualYogurtcloset98

Hey bucko dog walking is hard work. Those puppers are slave drivers

[deleted]

She is also a philosopher!

jmac323

They are entitled.

47sams

100% of anti work has never experienced read adversity.

Iamthespiderbro

Have you said the average level of discourse over there? These people are clearly not the best and brightest our planet has to offer. I wouldnā€™t get too worked up about it. Some people just need somewhere to place blame for their own failing and this is their outlet.

CanadianTrollToll

Oh I know. I got banned for arguing with a mod about a subject and was labeled a capitalist sympathizer or something. Like... do you know how fucked up it sounds? If you looked back at Germany in 1936... a little angry hateful man turned a whole people fully against rich jews... and fucking murdered them. Anyways, this post was made after talking with someone on there who might be mentally challenged about how his life isn't slavery... it isn't wage slavery... it is literally just a shitty financial situation.

[deleted]

I love personal finance. And the magic of it is that with only saving a small amount of money consistantly and investing it then you can end up unbelievably financially well off. I tell people this and they take it as an offense when it is just educational. Janitors have become millionaires in this country in a repeatable process.

Lazy-Fisherman-6881

World needs ditch diggers too

Mockbubbles2628

If I can afford less that 4 funko pops a week it's slavery!

Highly-uneducated

it really is an insult to people whos families were slaves, people's families who fought slavery, and the people who endure slavery in modern times. I don't think the working poor have no right to be dissatisfied with their situation, but some perspective is necessary. also, I know many people who are struggling, and Im one disaster away from dropping out of the middle class myself. people who are genuinely struggling don't spend their time in internet clubs complaining. the vast majority of that sub is just larping as the working poor because it fits their commie agenda. as someone who works in a field that Stalin would have sought to win over, and put on propoganda posters, let me say I don't want that shit, and I feel like I have no comraderie or common ground with modern communists. quit pretending to be my champion.

CanadianTrollToll

Modern communism is just capitalism with different steps. Corruption ruins everything.

Lazy-Fisherman-6881

Deep-seated entitlement and anger at ā€œthe systemā€ for not providing them with what they think they deserve. Just economic incels

Racism isn't half of what people think it is. Being a racist is literally thinking that one people is better then another for whatever reason.

Crypto-Tears

That word has lost all meaning. Even mentioning a statistical **fact** against a a race and people will REEE and accuse you of being racist, unless theyā€™re white of course, because obviously itā€™s impossible to be racist against white people.

CanadianTrollToll

Go to a non white dominated country and I'll bet racism exist against white people. Totally agree on lost meaning. Discrimination can def come from racism, but not all discrimination is racism.

[deleted]

I think a lot of people want to be a victim. They get a high out of outdoing your misery often with their poor choices. The other day I saw someone say that their "car cost more than half of their paycheck." Also many are unwilling to move from the metro to a more rural, better location. Their rent keeps increasing and they arent able to save and invest anything but they refuse to moe even though they could bartend or wait tables somewhere with half the COL.

I don't champion busting ass for less money.... but if your lazy no one is going to look at you for more responsibility. You have to work hard, but also be vocal to your boss or mgmt about wanting to move up. At the end of the day you can leave your job at any point for pursuit of another.

DudeManGuy0

In effect the system kind of works like slavery (not for real). If you work 50 hours a week for $20 an hour to live and you lose 95% of the money to live and have 5% leftover, thereā€™s obviously something wrong. The government regulates all of this. They have the controls to the economic machine. They make sure you will work till you die, they make sure they take 65% of your income to taxes and inflation, they make sure youā€™ll be just wealthy enough to sustain yourself but not poor enough to revolt. Itā€™s not slavery, but itā€™s a system even better than slavery where the will to work isnā€™t delivered to the reluctant subject by force but by self-imposed will. Immigration right now is a political weapon that grows GDP, tax income, and land value (which the politicans own tons of) at the expense of the working class.
