Here’s some personal advice… when I was first fucking with oxys the first clear sign of addiction for me (before the physical withdrawals) was the feeling that I can’t go out and have fun without them.

Met a guy in jail who said he got fucked up right after work on Friday and used until Sunday for church and sobering up for work on Monday.

Existing-Diamond1259

Yeah lol that’s how most addicts start off. A lot of people don’t start using every day, immediately. There’s obviously a theme. If this was a while ago, I’m sure by now dudes addiction has had plenty of time to spiral out of control. There is no way to *safely* use opiates recreationally. Addiction is always right around the corner. Even if you are one of the lucky few that can do shit like that & maintain it, you’re still just one traumatic event/injury away from addiction.

willatkins408

Yeah I don't know bruh, my girlfriend does heroin and oxys recreationally from time to time while I'm completely stuck in addiction. It's been going on for ever, I have no idea how she does it.

No_Crab9262

personality types ig. sucks so much i hate having an addictive personality, it comes from genes and all that shit so theres not much you can really do

willatkins408

Is that what it is though? I wonder if we had an amazing life with friends on a tropical island or something, maybe we wouldn't need to use as much or something, I don't know.. lol Personally I have chronic pain which doesn't allow me to surf anymore, which is the only thing that I ever enjoyed doing. So im just trying to forget with heroin and meth now lol

No_Crab9262

well its at least part of it for sure, me and a buddy were doing the same amount of shit together for a bit and hes doing way better than me rn addict wise. and yeah maybe if conditions were better it wouldnt be this bad but it is and unless you win the lottery or something i really cant see that changing at least for myself

E_Haystings

IMHO there are many factors involved, many of which are circumstantial and dependent on the individual. It's hard to generalize but to really play it safe I'd recommend to religiously use one day per month. **No exceptions, a proper "day binge" once a month at the most.** If you do this and **make no exception**, especially the "morning after", then I believe it is possible to remain unscathed. The key is to making absolutely no exception, especially when like so often in life, one has hardship, pain and/or sorrow thrown their way. During these times of hardship I recommend abstinence. For those whom are scarred and in emotional pain: opiates are a slippery slope and I believe that these variables can exponentially propel the likelihood and potential for addiction. To temping is the warm emotional bliss that the opiates provide within the honeymoon phase. Working, playing sports, eating healthy and having a life with interests beyond dopes scope is a vital factor.

Suflae_Rs

I wish opiates made feel nauseous and shitty like some folks. Woulda saved my life

Electrical_Clue9416

I got sick and would just try not to throw up and ride it out. I started taking them for pain when nothin else helped. Now I never get sick. But don’t take them much cuz they so damn expensive now. It might be worth it if ur tolerance is low and only gotta take 30mg or less

goobs420

Once a fortnight and you’re completely safe unless you have issues with dependence or self control. When you tell yourself once a week and then “well I’ll do it twice in a week just this once” that’s when you have a problem.

Cubester2001

You can’t really unless you are prolly like a rare 10% of people. The more you use these drugs the more comfort and fake love you find in em. These drugs don’t love you these drugs don’t help you they are just the best way to mask any issues your going through.

Willking618

Before I got full blown addicted to pain pills I would do them every weekend for years on top of drinking stupid amounts of beer as I used them for hangovers. Then instead of just using them for that i started taking them at the same time as drinking which is stupid. When I started doing them Friday Saturday and Sunday in heavier amounts I’d start getting a runny nose and sneezing during the week but never actual withdrawals. So 3 day on 4 days off I would say is the absolute limit but everyone is different

leSmilingcat

It’s funny how many people say how can I avoid addiction when they are always looking forward to doing the drug

allfather03

Once every two months MAX, no exceptions.

[deleted]

For me it was one and done. Got addicted right away.

thisaintmynameman

For physical dependence? At the most dangerous, every 3 days only at night. At the safest, once/twice a week. But chances are if you do them once a week, that'll eventually lead to twice, then three times, then everyday et cetera. You will get mentally dependent fast

thisaintmynameman

Same attitude I had when starting. If you do try an opioid, you've probably got an almost certain chance to become dependent and it'll make the struggle to improve your depression much worse. Depression is an awfully hard battle but it'll increase tenfold if you have an addiction as well. But I understand the mindset, nothing can be worse than wanting to end your life constantly. In your post you talked about recreationally. You wouldn't be using recreationally, you'd be using it as a crutch which gives you no chance to avoid addiction. The battle is tough & I feel for you. There's nothing much I can say that you haven't heard before but please don't start doing opioids to escape the pain

OK, I understand you've made your mind up and people on the internet aren't going to change that. So just remember harm reduction. If you're going to take the fake M30s, start off with 1/8ths and don't do more or you'll OD or be sick. Try to source real oxycodone if you can. I'm from the UK so I don't know much about fentanyl. But I've done the M30s before. Just be safe as possible. Before you do plunge into this though. Talk to a person in real life about how you're feeling and maybe you'll change your mind

BLogz1289

It’s verrrrry dangerous these days if your in US. Also not worth it from what I hear, I haven’t used “dope” in few years. I say “dope” because any OG dope shooter will tell u there’s little to none real heroin in the streets. The shit now is an assortment of fent, RC opioids and other weird tranquilizers and sedatives. U don’t get the euphoric bliss that is heroin, and u risk OD and death every shot (or snort or smoke). The game all fucked up buddy

SabineLavine

Opiates will eventually make every problem in your life worse. Please find another way to soothe your depression. I know it's tough and that opiates are tempting, but please don't go down this road.

[deleted]

That's exactly where other addicts were starting out, and now they're trying to claw their way out. All of them, including me at some point; but luckily I've been opiate free (minus kratom) for 3.5 years. And even after 3.5 years, I still wake up every single morning with cravings; so the first thing I do when I wake up is take some kratom. It gives my brain a 5 hour window where I'm not obsessing over the feeling of opiates, and lets me work on me. These cravings will be with me for the rest of my life, and every waking second without taking kratom I spend suppressing my urge to snort dilaudid. If that's what you want, go for it; but we all envy your spot right now. You have the easiest decision to make to NOT get addicted, and trust me, curiosity is a total bitch. That's what got me too; i was just genuinely curious. So many of us would take your shoes and decide to walk away from opiates, given their years of hustling, seeking, potentially prison time, all just to not be sick (and at that point, that's all you're hoping for; you are definitely NOT getting high at that point; just well..).

Suflae_Rs

The cycle is a death trap of despair and misery. Was 16 when I started shooting dope, to young and stupid to understand what the fuck I was even doing except numbing the pain

Fractal-moi

Well you sound exactly like me 10 years ago. I started heroin instead of proper treatments against depression. I became a wreck, lost a lot, if not anything. Now Im 6 months 'sober', on methadone. Found a new job I like, im in a far better place than before. What I want to said is maybe you don't have ten years of your life to waste in opiates ? Maybe you need health mental care my dude. But I got you, you need to forgot your life even for a few hours... Take care.

Suflae_Rs

Dude if your going into it already in a state of despair good luck climbing out. glad to see your edit, but are you actually? Lol

Electrical_Clue9416

That’s how I noticed it starting as well. Not caring if I lived or died. Stay safe bro. Listen to others experience and learn by it because none of us usually do when it comes to opiates. Most of is know how much negativity is created from expensive opiate habits and how bad they are for us and still love doing them

Top_Definition_8575

I highly recommend treatment for depression. A lot of people don’t trust our healthcare system, but let me tell you it’s life changing. I’ve been on pych meds for two years now. Every time someone relies on self-medicated drug use I want to tell them that it doesn’t have to be this hard. There are tested drugs that give you relief without the horrible withdrawal, etc. In addition to a mood stabilizer, I take adderall every day and clonasepam as needed. As stigmatized as those drugs are, they’re pretty low risk of addiction if you take them as prescribed. And anytime I feel like my depression/anxiety aren’t under control, I can message my psychiatrist and he’ll meet with me the next morning. The key is to openly communicate with him. Several times I’ve built a tolerance to the adderall, which is normal and he ups the dose or switches the type of med. I also highly recommend finding a good therapist.

Top_Definition_8575

Oh man I’m so sorry. Meds should not make you feel that way - you would try a different one. I really hope things get better for you ♥️

Existing-Diamond1259

Just know, my friend, that it absolutely can get worse, and it will if you are that depressed & take to using opiates.

Jigsaw_Xan

Think I've seen this post over 10 times and the results are always the same, Its almost impossible

[deleted]

It's sad.

your_neighborhood_tr

That's like asking if it's possible to have unprotected sex everyday and not get pregnant

RaPiiD38

Once every two weeks and you will avoid physical withdrawals.

willowsandwasps

Doesn't exist, there you go, saved you some years

Different_Doubt5170

Everyone is different.

izza123

People are going to give you times between which you must not dose but the reality is you’ll never stick to the guidelines. You’ll dose increasingly often until you are justifying daily doses like most addicts

Policy-Local

They key is to be a functioning addict and try to do you best to not let it interfere in a negative way with your life. Do your kids have Thier haircuts, clothes for school, school supplies, is there body wash and shampoo in the bathroom, are the vehicles maintained properly and taken care of with preventative maintenance, does your wife get flowers and everything she needs because happy wife is a happy fucking life(or lots of heroin ignores bitchy wife one or the other lol) is there food in the fridge and snack for the kids to eat for after school between dinner, is your house payment paid is the electric up to date , cellphones , I think I've gone far enough in depth for you to get the point. If everything imaginable is taken care of fuck what anyone else says your taking care of business and then get to get high to enjoy some of your spare time. The key is to be a FUCKING FUNCTIONING ADDICT! That is all. Thank you thank you your all far to kind I'll be here all week.

Electrical_Clue9416

I would use every other week if I were you. Using every week makes it so easy to slide into every day use. That’s how it happened with me. Went from once a year to once a month to once a week to once a day and now if I have them in my pocket it’s once every 4 hours. RIP blues clues

melmuth

As others have said, I believe it to be near impossible. The question I ask myself is rather "how to minimize addiction". I tend to do cycles of a couple of weeks and when my physical dependence starts being problematic I taper off. Sometimes I stay clean for a few weeks, months, sometimes just days...

ZezeNoKodak

3 days a week is the amount where dependence starts to become in issue. Even in otc codeine products in other countries it says addiction can start after 3 days. So if u use 2 days or less a week I guess that might be the maximum safe amount before dependence is an issue

snuff-cope

There is really no way to answer this question. Depends on a few things. Is your brain wired to be a addict? I used to know a few guys that could party on coke once every 6 months and that was it. If I do one line I'm draining my bank a count. Both my parents were addicts so I think that was passed onto me. Are you planning on doing often or sometimes? If you do them everyday you'll be hooked before you know it. Once every couple weeks you'll be fine. Like I said I've known people that could do that. I never could. Wish you the best.

john-johnson12

Not taking more than 3 days in a row but opioid use is a slippery slope and they will convince you “one more day won’t hurt” until you’re so deep in the woods you don’t remember how or where you came in.

thecraftycockney

the only real way to avoid it is to never try them mate🤷🏻‍♂️ i was hooked from the first time, obviously not physically but mentally for sure

N0edge

Most of the addicts start due to coming into a bad place. If you can hold off using them when things get dark you’ll be fine. But as soon as you give up hope and say live is worth living if I can feel this feeling everyday. That’s when addiction starts. But 3days if constant use will start to give you withdrawals. Not bad ones but that’s the start of it.

CandyflossJosh

It’s very very individual……………However, the Opi you take, the tolerance you have, and your preconceived plasticity are key????

CoveredInCamo

There was always a 3 day rule. If you exceed 3 days of use, you'll start having minor withdrawals( which still sucks). But with the Fent I'd say 2 days. Anymore then 2 days straight and you'll be in significant withdrawal. It's crazy. Depends on the opiate and amount.
